We had a very fun server who was a bartender plus! Funny and informative. The atmosphere is gorgeous and next level vibe! The food was delicious and the price point for happy hour hit the mark! 4 glasses of a vey good Pinot (not usually on HH menu but added because it was available) and 3 appetizer was $60 plus tip! We had the green beans and goat cheese tomato crostini were amazing! The shrimp was nice but not as good.

Aperol Spritz

Came for a friend's bday dinner and what a great place! I love the richness of the velvet decor with the dark drapes - so elegant! I had a Mediterranean salad bowl which was delicious and quite filling. The Aperol spritz said summer is here and looked beautiful in the light streaming through the windows. Finished with a shared brownie and ice cream - yum!! Our server was very considerate and made sure all of our needs were cared for. Would make a fabulous venue for a small wedding reception or bday bash. Validated parking too so that's a win!!

Happy Hour food

The restaurant is beautiful, our server was great, and the happy hour wines and food we ordered good. We sat on the outside patio, thinking we were coming in for happy hour food, yet we ordered off their regular menu instead, and I wish we sat inside. I had the Chicken Piccata off the dinner menu, it was just a little more then the HH items and very good. I called after our visit to arrange a BD party there for 4 of us who have birtdays within 2 days and we'd have about 20-22 people. The woman I spoke to had told me the minimum charge for their private room, and the biggest size group the restaurant could accommodate. But then the charge of $100 goes to her for making all the arrangements. That was end of that conversaton, I was in shock, it sounded like blackmail to me, and I lost my taste for returning there.

Such a fun restaurant! Beautifully decorated, elegant, and upscale with an elevated yet casual menu - Benny & Mary's is for everyone! We enjoyed a "girls dinner," here on a weeknight, it wasn't too crowded but I made a reservation on Open Table to be safe. They have a large dining room, bar seating, and a patio as well. Their menu was on the smaller side but offered plenty of options for all. We loved our short rib fries, burgers, and the mediterranean salad. Fresh ingredients, friendly service, elegant ambiance. This is a great stool for a lunch, dinner, date night, girls night, or celebration. Highly recommend checking it out for yourself! *Super easy and accessible parking in a lot near the restaurant, take your parking ticket with you for complimentary validation.

Cheese Dumplings

The atmosphere is wonderful and the food was very good. It was a very positive experience, so we plan to return in the near future with friends. I had been stalking Yelp for a while, but, unfortunately, a couple of the cocktails that I was interested in (Cucumber Ginlet and Peartini) are not currently available. Drinks - Espresso Martini 4.5/5: Very well balanced, not bitter but also not overly creamy or sweet, just how I prefer it. - Cadillac Margarita, Mezcal 4/5: A great smokey flavor with a citrus finish. It paired really well with the Diablo Burger. Food - Cheese Dumplings 4.5/5: The tomato bisque was well seasoned and rich. The wonton had a nice crunch and a great cheesey flavor that elevated the dish. - Tomato Bisque, Cheese Toast: 3.5/5: The tomato bisque was still great, but the toast did not really have any cheese or added flavor. It did add good texture, and it likely would have been a higher rating if we dud not just have the Cheese Dumplings. - Short Rib Tacos 4.5/5: There was a generous amount of short rib and it were very flavorful, with the pickled vegetables and complimentary sauces - Diablo Smash Burger, Fries 4/5: As a smash burger, I wish that it would have had some carmelization or lace, but it might have been leaner patties. The peppers really made the burger and added a little kick. The fries were savory and had a crunchy exterior with a soft center. Dessert - Berry Cheesecake 5/5: I am usually not a cheesecake fan, but this was amazing. The berry swirl brought out the cirtus, cutting the tang. The blackberries and strawberry were so fresh and sweet. We had a late morning reservation for brunch on Saturday, and were surpsied that it was not very full. The restaurant was very clean and well maintained. It has an informal elegance and is very welcoming and comfortable. We were seated upon arrival and our waitress quickly took our drink order and made appetizer suggestions, including the Cheese Dumplungs, which were fantastic. The staff was attentive, without hovering or interrupting.

I love this place so I was excited to come during restaurant week. We did the early bird dining, lol. I got the Caesar salad, Salmon - Almond crusted 8oz salmon filet, served on a bed of rice,a sherry gastrique roasted vegetables, finished with a creamy dijon mustard sauce, and Cherry Ricotta Cheesecake. I liked the lemon dressing on the salad, light. My salmon was a bit overcooked so dry. I liked my salmon last time better. I also wasn't a fan of the Dijon mustard sauce. Way too mustardy for me. The roasted veggies were good but it was carrots, a little cauliflower & onions. Not the usual veggies but at least they tasted good. The cheesecake was yummy and not overly sweet. Nephew wanted the garlic Parmesan fries which I asked for no parsley or whatever green stuff but it came with it. Oh well. Friend loved the garlic. Nephew thought the fries were ok. Friend enjoyed her salad and Short Rib Stroganoff. I tried it but it was the same mustardy sauce which I wasn't a fan of. Lots of short ribs though. She loved it.

3.5- food was decent but service was only ok. The server wasn't very attentive- we had to ask multiple times for water refills... we were there for my friend's birthday, there's 5 of us and the service brought out a brownie dessert to celebrate but he ended up charging me $12 for it. Also he added me 21% of automatic gratuity when the receipt clearly states that will add for 6 or more in the party! I had to tell him to update my bill.... Also their drinks are very weak...

Dirty Martini

Great happy hour menu. Validated parking. Got there early so it wasn't too busy in the bar/patio area. The tuna poke was an interesting presentation. The Parmesan fries were quite stale and not very good even though the bowl of fries looked good in photos. Told my busser and the server but nothing was done about it which is fine, but hopefully they get rid of their stale fries. Inside of the restaurant is heavy on the jewel tones. I liked being near the windows in the bar area for a brighter experience as I don't love extremely dark restaurants where I can't see my food.

We've been eyeing this place for some time and our expectations were not just met -- it was way surpassed. The restaurant is quite eye catching with its pretty facade in the midst of towering buildings...and then you go inside and you'll be as pleased - soft and warm lighting, sophisticated interiors with so much character and style. The food was awesome. We started with Cheese Dumplings and Braised Rib Tacos which were delightful, and I had a ribeye as entree -- Juicy and tender, each bite moist and succulent and flavorful, especially that it's served on a bed of some puree that I cannot remember. My husband had a Chilean Sea Bass and enjoyed it so much too. And the Banana Cookie Butter Pie is so seriously good, one of these days I may just go to the restaurant by myself and order this to-go. Isabel was the best. We had our own charming attendant but she got a bit busy towards the end of the meal (so much so that I couldn't even stop her to get her name), so we asked Isabel to take our photo. The best in customer service, not to mention very pretty herself -- she made sure our photo was well taken, took time to suggest our seating arrangement...my husband and I really appreciated it. Found someone who knows how to take that extra mile to make customers feel well taken cared of. The entire experience at this restaurant was just splendid.

Such a pretty spot for date night! Parking was easy as it's in a business center I believe. We used valet but probably could have just self parked. Super nice person working valet too! We walked in and what a beautiful set up! The colors the ambiance, I loved it! Greeted as we walked in and seated right away, we had reservations. Server and staff amazing! Started with a cocktail and delicious! Asked for the Bartender's Whim to see what fun drink I'd get as I love surprises and it was tasty and pretty! The s''more...delicious!!! We had a couple appetizers to start and they were both delicious!! Then a bottle of wine with our entrees that they keep an ice bucket next to us and kept our glasses full! Entrees came out hot and so good! Fish was not dry and very tasty! The sides were also great tasting! Bathrooms are clean and it's a pretty big restaurant! Will definitely be back!

Chicken Milanese- incredible
Jessica V.

I've now had 3 almost perfect experiences here so an upgraded rating is warranted. Service, including the amazing bartenders, is always great. Ambiance and vibes are super cool. Food is to die for! We shared the short rib fries and they were absolutely perfect. 10/10 no notes! The chicken Milanese was good too. And the matcha cocktail?! I don't normally choose whiskey but wow it was perfect! I love this restaurant and will probably be back for date night soon.

Rum cannonballs
Amanda P.

I came in tonight with a group to celebrate a birthday and we all had a great experience. Our waitress Jessica was awesome, super personable and on top of everything. It's a very dark moody vibe in the restaurant with beautiful chandeliers and a huge bookcase adding to the overall experience. We started with some cocktails. I had the rum cannonballs which was fruity and refreshing. We then shared the cheese dumplings in tomato soup, ugh, it was so good. For my entree I enjoyed the Chilean sea bass. We were so full but decided to get a cheesecake to share around and they brought out a brownie with a candle for our birthday girl. Overall we had an awesome experience tonight, thank you so much for hosting our group, and special thanks to Jessica.

Carol C.

Everything we tried was delicious! We were surprised at how quickly the food came out, yet how good it was. The cheese dumplings are a MUST- so yummy and loved the presentation too! We also got the caesar salad, which you can never go wrong with and the poke that had a nice kick to it. For my entree, I got the chicken piccata, which was a generous portion. I definitely recommend sharing! Their drink menu is pretty unique, and nothing appealed to me so I just requested a lemon drop martini.

Ask the Community - Benny and Mary's

Is this restaurant baby friendly?

Yes it is during the daytime it's a great place but mind you, parental supervision is common sense and proper etiquette at public locations to not inconvenience staff or other patrons of course. There are no play areas. It's spacious and serene…

Can it support 40 people company dinner?

Yes please email events@bennyandmarys.com

Is the ribeye steak sandwich still on the menu?

We went to dinner and it was not on the dinner menu. Their Rib-eye steak dinner entree is amazing though.

Is the burger no longer available for dinner? Didn't see it on the menu anymore

Lunch menu only

Is there ample parking available?

Yes always plenty of parking

Do they do mocktails or non-alcoholic drink options?

Yes all of our house cocktails can be made into mocktails. You can also request a custom mocktail based on your tastes.

Is there a private dining room with a TV for projecting a powerpoint? How quiet is the room for doing a dinner seminar on a Tuesday or Thursday night?

they do have a speakeasy behind the library for private events

Do they have a children's menu?

No.

Hello, Is the speakeasy open yet?

Is it kid friendly?

No, I asked if it was to the hostess one time and they said no, I then asked a waiter and he said yes it was if he was serving. It's a bit dark and gatsby inside also no high chairs and boosters.

Are they dietary restriction friendly? Are there gluten free options?

When I ate there they actually asked us when ordering if we had any dietary restrictions. They were very willing to modify dishes if needed.

What time is happy hour?

I've heard the Peruvian Steak, Prosciutto, and Chicken are good too! My only feedback with the Happy Hippie is that there is slightly too much filling, so it falls when you are eating the sandwich. Each of their sandwiches comes with two halves and is filling and satisfying. They also use fresh, vibrant vegetables, and a store associate told me their bread is baked fresh every day! Service: The service here is half the reason I come! A lovely store associate will guide you when ordering, and they will bring the food right to you! When they bring the food, there are two napkins on the tray. If they see you carrying your tray after you are finished eating, they will also offer to take it for you! Although the sandwich prices are slightly premium, you are paying for their healthy ingredients and exceptional service! Tough call... This is my favorite Mendocino Farms location…read moreout of at least five I have been to around Orange County. The problem with this sandwich chain is one and only: They have a huge issue with quality consistency. Ask their managers and they will tell you that the portions and sandwiche ingredients are strictly measured, but as a customer you know that's not the case. You go to some places and get these tiny sandwiches with two slices of bread and barely any ingredients in between. The Tustin location, located in Whole Foods has been the worst offender at this by far. Now this Campus Drive location has been creating the best, most generous, consistent sandwiches. Unfortunately, it doesn't happen every time still. It all depends on who you get as you cook on that day, crafting your sandwich. Some day sandwiches that get to the table are juicy and enjoyable, and sometimes, they come out to be disappointedly small, with minimum amount of ingredients. I had to complain to the manager a couple of times, but it doesn't help. Every time I come here, I pray to get the right chef who will make my sandwich well. Absolutely hate being at their mercy.

This right here is a nice cafe, serving up bits and bites, and lattes: hot and iced. With their coffee, they use beans from a fantastic local roaster, and with their matcha, they're using some primo stuff! We ordered some matcha today, for that true Japanese experience. I got a mango matcha latte, and I got the regular. The mango has that awesome balance of fruity and bright flavor that enhances that earthy matcha. Silky smooth and delicious too! The standard matcha is just a lovely classic. It's a matcha, and a good one! What's not to like? We were a bit hungry too. Luckily, the sandwiches looked fantastic, so we opted for those! I got the Brio Brio banh mi, which is a cold and fresh sando that features jidori chicken, and a Vietnamese-style slaw mix that's got crunchy veg, crispy onions, and some zingy dressings! I know it looks a little plain, but the flavors packed into it are nothing short of yummy! I chose a chicken pesto sando, which comes with the jidori chicken as well. It also prominently features a grilled tomato along with the titular arugula pesto! The bread is toasted well, and the texture is impressively fluffy! Sweet, savory, and simply scrumptious!
