We have dined here many times and have been satisfied. Once before, we were not pleased with the service. Again, today, we had significant problems. This review is based on the latest experience. Order time to table delivery was terrible. It took an hour to get our main course. Appetizers took 20 minutes. Then, another 20 minutes to get one cup of soup, then another 20 minutes to get the main course. The manager asked how things were, she indicated that this was unacceptable and took 20% off our bill. The food, overall was good and as expected. There was one glaring exception. Usually, the calamari comes out crisp, hot, and tender. This portion was questionable as to its serving temperature, the coating was soggy and the meat was pasty. It was as if they did not have the fry oil hot enough. The manager also took this off the bill as well. My wife had her birthday, and, as once before, the free birthday crepe cake was not available. The manager upgraded the free cake to a better desert and did not even ask for the coupon. Our server made many errors such as forgetting limes with my soda and extra plates for us to share appetizers. He did not bring the bill in one of those nice wallets like other servers did. At one point, when I had a question about our order, he settled it by simply stating he got the order right. For some reason, staff was moving a lot of chairs through the restaurant. Three times, they bumped the back of my seat with a significant thump. I had plenty of time to observe the waitstaff. Only two of them were pleasant with their customers. The rest had unhappy expressions on their faces and were very curt in their interactions with their customers. read more

We haven't been here in years, and the service started out slow but it was forgiven due to the excellent service after our waiter finally acknowledged we were seated (I think the hostess stand didn't tell him and we were there on an "off hour") I tried their new Rustic Chicken and Artichokes, excellent. Mimi's Cafe used to be a Murfreesboro Avenue Shopping favorite. When they first opened in Murfreesboro, we were blown away by the brunch and the over-the-top friendly service. We loved sitting out on the patio for our meals. Now, I'm so sad that the food, service and overall experience has really fallen short the past several times we've been. I'm not sure what happened? Perhaps change in staff and/or management? Either way, it's not the same standard and it's no wonder that this place is seemingly empty the majority of the time. I hope that they can turn it around at some point and I can write a glowing review. I sure do love the carrot raisin nut bread. My grievances the past few times have been a filthy outside patio area, bad service and sub-par food. The menu is great, just not the delivery. P.S. They are always out of chicken-pot-pie, so don't even bother ordering. First time at Mimi's Cafe and we enjoyed the food and loved the $5 mimosa! I got the chicken and waffles which was okay and my husband got the corned beef hash which he loved. The customer service was PHENOMENAL! Our server Chloe, was soooo nice and did such a good job. We had a 35 minute wait to be seated but the food came out rather quickly. Would definitely recommend and we will check it out again when we visit Murfreesboro. read more

Not sure what's going on in murfreesboro but this is the 3rd restaurant I've been to where the food was brought out to the table with hair in it. Not sure if hair beats are worn in the kitchen but to bring a plate of food to the table with hair on it means that several layers of checks were not done. We are just visiting, we don't live here, but loved this place!!! Such a cute, French style atmosphere. They serve both breakfast and lunch between 11 and 3, so that was nice. My family and I have tried to go to here two separate times and both times we had a horrible experience trying to get sat. The first time we came in asking for a table of 4 and they refused to sit us until the other couple walked in the door. We finally decided we needed to be sat because I was getting too close to the time that I had to leave for work so I changed the table reservation to 2 and they immediately sat us at a table for 6 PEOPLE and my sister in law and her husband has plenty of room when they finally arrived. Then today when we came in with a group of 11 we were quoted a 25 minute wait time, after 50 minutes of waiting we went to the host and questioned how much longer and even offered to sit separately since there were so many open tables and we were told they promised to have us sat in 10 minutes and 10 minutes later they still had done nothing to get us sat so we walked out. There was a manager/chef up at the host stand the whole time manipulating everything the entire time and not once ever came to update us on a time or apologize for so poorly managing the time they quoted us. I honestly felt bad for the host because the manager was taking all the control but not communicating with any of the guests. It was nothing but a terrible experience and we will NEVER be going back. read more

One of our local "Go-To" places when we want a FANTASTIC breakfast, and occasional lunch or dinner. We've been coming here since they opened several years ago and the food is great, the service is excellent and we never leave hungry. On Sunday, 4/21/13, at 10:30am, I met two friends for breakfast at the Mimi's Cafe in Murfreesboro, TN. We were promptly seated, however, there's where things quickly went downhill. It was a good 15 minutes before the server arrived and took our drink order, after a wait of another 10 minutes our cups of coffee were delivered to the table, we placed our order and it took nearly 30 minutes to get our food. The server even stopped by the table to ask if we wanted a snack while we waited. We noticed that others who had been seated after us finished their meals and paid during our long wait time. The food arrived, and since Mimi's Cafe is a premium restaurant one would 'assume' that the food would be premium as well. The bacon was chewy, not crisp, and not hot, the eggs were overcooked, the pancakes stuck together and fell apart when you tried to add butter and syrup. Apparently the server must have asked the manager, Jason, to stop by the table since none of us were thrilled with the long wait experience or food. I've never in my life been treated so poorly by a manger, he rolled his eyes and had an unengaged condescending look on his face as I asked him about the bacon and slow speed of service. He said "Have a Good Day" and walked away. The server brought us a box of 6 muffins to take home for an unknown reason. All in all, I would say that the service is very slow, the food is common and precooked and the price is simply too high for the quality of service and food. read more

We had never been here before and we had a gift certificate so the beau and I gave it a shot on our date night. The place has a cute little set up and we were seated immediately. The waitress was at our table in no time taking our drink orders. She was happy and chipper and awesome! She came back with our drinks and bread. A sourdough type text roll and three slices of a carrot raise loaf bread. OMG I could eat a whole loaf of that! She said you can buy a loaf, and I decided against that, it would not last 20 minutes in my house! Being that we both have never have been to this place we took longer than usual to choose what we wanted. The waitress helped us out big time. She suggested some type of meat alfredo dish for the man and i decided on the chicken crapes. Both DELISH! I can't even begin to describe the deliciousness of this place. My nephew told us they had awesome muffins, and his birthday was today, so we decided yesterday to go pick up some muffins for him for his breakfast today. So I will preface this review with saying that they have some of the most huge, delicious, blueberry muffins I've ever tasted in my life. Now that the muffins have been addressed, I will begin with the food. We ordered an appetizer of the crab cakes (have to, from Louisiana), and they were delicious. Filled with lump crab without a ton of filler like some crab cakes are, and they were more pan sauteed than fried, so there was not a ton of outer layer of bread on them. Delicious. Hubby ordered the five way grilled cheese, which was awesome. I ordered the Turkey Pesto Ciabatta which had turkey, basil pesto mayo (amazing), avacado, tomato, lettuce, and some kind of white cheese. It was seriously one of the most delicious sandwiches I've ever had. It was huge, so I could only eat half, but I can't wait to eat the other half. Also got a cup of the cafe corn chowder that is also in the fridge and smelled delightful, but haven't gotten to try it yet. Needless to say, we will be back at this place in a hurry. Super cute place. Was pretty busy but I tell you, well worth the wait. Waitress knew her stuff and was extremely happy and helpful on helping me find something dairy free for lunch. My father had the tomato soup and tuna salad sandwich. He said it was outstanding and states how he wants to go back here. My hubby had the BLT and he said it was very good. I had the salad with a balsamic dressing! Omg the dressing was to die for!!! The turkey sandwich I had was amazing. They decorate you plates with fresh fruit. The melon and orange was outstanding. When mimi's first opened it was great and it has slowly been declining over the years and now I can say that I will probably never come back. The only thing that kept me going back was the food. The service has been bad for a few years now but my last visit pushed me over the edge. My boyfriend and I went to mimi's for an early dinner, around 5:30 or 6, they were not busy. We were standing at the front for about 5 minutes, probably 5 or 6 servers passed by us, some of them looking at us, some not. No one said hello or that someone would be with us shortly. We felt ignored and were tempted to leave right then but I had a bogo entree coupon that I was determined to use. Finally a young man walked up and instead of saying hello or how are you he just grabbed 2 menus and started walking and said to follow him. I had to stop him and say that we wanted to sit outside. So he showed us to the patio there was one other older couple out there. I think sitting outside was a mistake because it seemed we were forgotten about many times. It took a while for someone to come get our drink order and took another long while for them to bring them. We both ordered entrées and I asked for a salad to start (as an add on) so we waited a long time for the food, no one coming to check on us for refills. Finally the entrees come out but I had never received my salad, so I mention it. The waitress asks if I still want it.. obviously not now just cancel it. Anyway, our entrees were good but then comes the check. She didn't apply our bogo coupon, still had the charge for my salad that I never got, and there was a charge for peppers and mushrooms that were added to my boyfriend's french dip that he never asked for and actually had picked them all off. So we point that out to her, and she comes back with the check that still had the extra charge for the peppers and mushrooms. At this point we just paid for it because we wanted to leave and didn't feel like arguing with our waitress over a few dollars, but to me still was not right for them to do. We also over heard the other couple outside with us arguing with their server, they also had a bogo coupon and had asked why the coupon wasn't applied. The server said the coupon only works when you purchase 2 beverages. They had ordered a 20$ bottle of wine! Spending much more money than ordering 2 cokes but they still couldn't use the coupon? Overall I just think mimi's needs to get it together. Hire better servers or maybe up your standards on what you think is acceptable behavior from your staff. read more

I've been to Mimi's a number of times for dinner...but this was my first time having breakfast there. Normally, I have 2 littles with me. Scratch that. Normally, I drink coffee in my kitchen while wearing pajamas as my 2 littles gobble up cereal or oatmeal. So here I was, a morning without my kids. I was out and about. I was ready to hit up a Starbucks drive thru for a coffee and pastry. Then I snapped out of it! I should sit down and actually enjoy a breakfast that I didn't have to make! After visualizing the restaurants within a 2-mile restaurant, I settled on Mimi's. I was seated in a large booth (hellllooo elbow room!), and was promptly asked by my server what I like to drink. Coffee and a water. I looked over the menu, and just as my decision was made, my server returned with my drinks. I ordered the Potato Cake Eggs Benedict. As I waited, I read a book on my Kindle and sipped my coffee. I glanced over at my server who was now striking up a conversation with a regular customer. She came by my table and topped off my coffee. Soon, my food arrived. It was delicious! (Although, I do like my poached eggs a bit more runnier.) I gobbled it all up! The chef made his rounds just as I shoved the last bite in my mouth. (How do they always manage to drop just as you stuff your mouth?!) I gave him the thumbs up and continued to savor my last bite. My server dropped off the bill, then returned to gather my plate and payment. When she returned with my change, she offered me a coffee in a to-go cup. (I declined.) As I took my leave, I was wished a good day by each employee I passed. Sure beats coffee in pajamas while standing in my kitchen! read more

I'm only giving a 1 star because my Entree of the Chicken a la Orange was very good. However, if I could NOT give any stars, I would do so. My Husband & I were VERY disappointed in the service and how low grade the calamari appetizer was. We found it un-edible. My husband's entree was not good, either. It was the Sole fish. To spend as much money as we did, only to be served a CHEAP grade of fish and calamari blows! On top of our below standard meal, we ordered a Wine Flight to accompany our dinner. When we were 1/2 way thru our meal, the waiter comes over and says it will be a little bit until we get our Wine! Excuse me!?! Ummm, NO! We told him to cancel that wine order as we were finishing up. My husband was so mad about our Dinner that I doubt we will even be back for Breakfast! read more

Took my daughter for breakfast and was warmly greeted by the staff. Our ordered was taken quickly. The restaurant seems very clean. I ordered the salmon omelet and a side of vegetables. The salmon was not small pieces mixed into the eggs but a nice thin slice of salmon inside the egg wrap. My daughter ordered the egg white veggie omelet with roasted potatoes-she said it was yummy. The serving size is very generous. Each order also comes with a muffin or various toast selections. The blueberry muffin smothered in butter is out of this world. Our entrees were delicious and the coffee was hot and tasty. The wait staff kept our coffee filled. The atmosphere is moderately quite. The restaurant is super easy to find and access. Mimi's is a great place to enjoy a relaxing breakfast in the Boro! read more

Great French Food I love French food and there aren't many restaurants that serve it. Crab cake appetizers were very good and the chicken crepes with sauce for the entrée were amazing. They had many things to choose from on their French menu so I will have to make return visits to try them all. The service was great and our waitress explained what was available for happy hour. I had the dry red wine flight. They bring you three different wines to try for five dollars. They were all good and there is nothing better than having different wines available to sample. There weren't small samples either. If you are shopping at The Avenues in Murfreesboro, TN you should take the time to dine here when you are ready for a break. read more
