The service was so friendly, and they let you sample the flavor before buying but I would suggest not getting a sample because they all are so good that you would want to by so many scoops. The rice flavor have me in a choke hold simple light and not too sweet, if you like the sticky rice in mango stick rice than you would love it. My fav is the premium because I am not really ice cream person but the white tea with Manuka honey is so simple refreshing without fruity or being overly sweet. I love it. Delicious ice cream with 20+ flavors with some unique seasonal (Black Sesame, Ube, Italian Ricotta, Horchata, Apple Pie), and boozy adult flavors (Bailey's, Tiramisu, Eggnog, Kahlua). The creamy Bailey's flavor and Tiramisu had a nice boozy kick to it. My favorite flavors include Choco Heaven, Dirty Brownie, Coffee Oreo, Matcha, Super Oreo, Apple Pie, Butterscotch, Cookie Monster, Tiramisu, Bailey's. As it's so hard to land on a flavor, I generally get a split scoop and the flavors pair really well together. The staff is so nice and generous, particularly Ms. Mimi and kindly let me sample more than a few flavors! She was very sweet to my kids and gave them cute panda stickers! The Apple Pie and Butterscotch ice cream flavors were very unique and paired well together. The Choco Heaven is decadent with dark chocolate hazelnut and tastes like a soft Nutella. The Dirty Brownie has chunks of fudge gooey brownies and another rich flavor. The Coffee Oreo tastes like an Oreo Frappuccino and the Oreos soften the bitterness. While the Choco Heaven and Dirty Brownies are very rich, bold flavors, they overpower other flavors. The Coffee Oreo and Tiramisu were a bit in the background and a bit muted. The Matcha and Super Oreo were divine and paired really well together in a split scoop (2 flavors in a single scoop). It's pretty rare to get split scoop now-a-days. The Super Oreo definitely delivered with Oreo cookies in every bite and the Matcha balanced out the sweetness and gave the flavor more depth. Cute ice cream shop nestled in Mosaic. We came in to escape the heat. There were some flavors that they were already sold out of. The did let us try a couple of flavors. A couple of friends and I ended up sharing a flight of mini scoops ($18.99), which is good way to try different flavors at about $20. The flavors we landed on were orange blossom, lemon sorbet, strawberry, cookie monster, mango ice cream. Out of our flight, I actually surprisingly enjoyed the lemon sorbet the most. The cookie monster was my second favorite but I enjoy nuts because I can be a little nutty. Decided to stroll around Mosaic and came across Mimi's Handmade Ice Cream. It's located near the backside next to Falafel Inc - not in the most obvious spot but it's in a walkable area. The owner was working when we arrived. She was very welcoming and offered us to taste the flavors. When entering, there's a chalkboard with all the flavors listed - I was surprised at the uniqueness of the flavors. I couldn't decide on which flavor to choose, so I decided to go with guava. Surprisingly, it definitely tasted just like guava and my son relished every bite. If I'm in Mosaic, I would definitely try some of the other flavors. A few things I noticed: there was an off-putting odor upon entering, seating is very limited, and the spoons were confusing. There was an aluminum bucket filled with sample size spoons - I initially thought it was for discarded tasting spoons, but it turns out those were utensils provided for eating. Just found out this is a chain. We asked the woman serving us if she was Mimi and she said it's her nickname so not sure if this is the original location or it's some kind of shtick. Regardless the ice cream is delicious. We sampled a few. It's a small shop and in the summer time the line goes out the door, but don't be deterred! It goes fast and whatever you decide to get, you will be in for a treat. My family stopped by last week and sampled the mint oreo, super oreo (my family loves oreos!), and the soo strawberry. Everything we tried was SO creamy and full flavored. It is definitely one of the better ice cream shops in the area. The staff was so kind and helpful. They got a clean scoop when I told them my child had peanut allergies and offered me a free cone when my toddler later decided she didn't want ice cream in a cup. Ive been waiting for this place to open in the Mosaic District and the wait is over!! I got a mixed scoop of pralines and honey ice cream & the cinnamon crunch. The ice cream was extremely creamy and amazing. I cannot wait to go back and try more flavors. I loved both flavors but I will say the cinnamon crunch perfectly captured the flavor of Cinnamon Toast Crunch serial which immediately brings me back to lazy Sundays in my PJs watching cartoons as a kid. I got the two-scoop ice cream cup with super oreo and choco heaven. The Oreo filled with Oreos to the max, which was delicious. The choco heaven flavored had a strong chocolate flavor, but I did not get to taste the nutella as described in the flavor. I am not sure if I missed it in my tastebuds, or if the chocolate was overpowering, but it still tasted good. The ice cream tasted fresh, not too sweet, and homemade as a local ice cream shop should be. The prices were average for a local shop, more expensive than the ones you get at the grocery store. I believe this place is worth trying with the many fun variety of flavors. The manager there seemed happy to chat and help each customer with a smile. Of course that is the service I expect, but it is nice to see because it is not common, especially 30 minutes before closing. The reason why I removed 1 star from this place is because I got charged extra tax on my ice cream. I went to the Fairfax location, but on the receipt, it has the address for Arlington County, and I got charged 4% for Arlington tax. I am not sure why I got charged for tax in another county. It would be nice to have an explanation or have this error fixed. I did not complain because it was only a 30 cent charge, but this could be a big difference to other people. read more

It's pretty small inside with seating for maybe 3-4 people, but it's clean and bright. I tasted the Thai Iced Tea, Durian, Italian Ricotta, and Honey Citron Ginger Tea ice creams, all of which were delicious. My favorite was the Honey Citron Ginger Tea. My second favorite was the Italian Ricotta, which is less sweet than the others - which I actually prefer - and I think it would have paired well with the Honey Citron Ginger Tea (or any other sweeter flavor), but I wasn't hungry enough for two scoops (a rarity for me). It was extremely difficult to finish with my partner as we were forcing ourselves to finish it since we spent $7.50 for it. Also, two scoops for $7.50 was a scam because they gave us skimpy amounts. We saw others get one scoop and the amount was honestly the same. The amount probably filled up the small cup and one scoop looked like the same amount. The Matcha and Expresso were also very soft and melted fast compared to other flavors. The customer service was not there as well. The lady looked like she did not want to be there and just had a very unhappy demeanor.
