We've been ordering several birthday cakes a year from this location for over ten years. This past weekend they misspelled the name on the birthday cake message. The day we went to pick up the cake writer and manager weren't there to address the mistake. Employee tried to fix it but it didn't look very presentable. After several days of trying to reach the manager (who didn't return my calls) I finally reached her and she said it "wasn't a big deal"...wouldn't give a a refund (full or partial) and frankly didn't seem to give a crap. Who wants to give someone a misspelled birthday cake, and how would you want to be treated by a manager if this happened to you? I really liked "our strawberry blonde" with the big chunks of crust and strawberries. The service was okay, but the ordering system was odd. They would ask customers, all standing in line, out of order. They asked me for my order and then left immediately to prepare it without asking if I wanted anything else, and skipping over my boyfriend. It was very chaotic and not an enjoyable experience. Honestly, this is the priciest ice cream in the area. $16 for two tiny cups of ice cream that is average at best. Also they charge $1 per topping no matter how little they give you, on top of the pricey ice cream. They don't allow cups of water for guests which is pretty bad practice on super hot days. It has been awhile since I had had Cold Stone, probably ten years or more. There was one conveniently located where I used to live back In Coral Gables, FL on Miracle Mile, then they sadly closed it down. Granted sugar is not the best thing for you but I have such a strong sweet tooth and cookie dough is one of my favorite things on this planet, that and Cuban Cafe Con Leche, really good empanadas, Tostada, and gelato (basically everything that is not great for you but if you are in a bucket list, you only live once kind of mode...you can't resist). But I would usually get the same things there when I went and I was Heaven every time. What makes this Cold Stone great is that they really listen to you, keep the line moving on busy days, are generous with portions, and. really put effort into making sure that the toppings you choose are well mixed into the ice cream. I used to love to replicate what they did as a kid and my wooden cutting board would be my granite slab, I would keep it in my freezer to keep it chilled, break out the Edy's ice cream, mix in my M&M's, warm Nestle freshly baked cookies, along with choc chips and sprinkles and put a lot of elbow grease to make sure all the pieces were well mixed in together. Nothing beats Cold Stone though. I am not sure how they do it but their i cream is delicious. I just appreciate the fact that they put so much effort into making sure your order is exactly right. I remember way back they used to sing every time you tip them in the jar by the register. That doesn't happen anymore, but they should bring it back. Parking in this area of the county can be a challenge. It is a busy area. First off Cold Stone has good ice cream. Yet our individual taste is subjective. I personally find Brusters, has more flavor. Still if you're in the area this works. The Reese's ice cream, strawberry shortcake, vanilla, and chocolate all are solid selections. These folks have the best cones. As for the store, it's not a huge location. Then again rent here is through the roof. Is it expensive? Yes. Yet sometimes you need to treat yourself. If over here I'll roll. The have pre-chosen signature creations that are a great deal for all of the add ins you get. I really love peanut butter cup perfection! My only complaint is the sizes are called like it, love it, and gotta have it which is kinda embarrassing to order. If you want less that a like it you can get a kids size! I crave ice cream on a biweekly basis and getting one of their signature creations is such an amazing treat (Founders Favorite FTW)! Even getting one flavor and choosing just ONE topping (for my last visit I chose cookie butter and Snickers) tastes amazing. The drawback is that most of the time the toppings and waffles are stale. One big piece of a Snickers was so bad that I just spit it out and left it. That being said -- I don't think I will be returning to any Cold Stone again. I don't have a problem with this particular establishment; during my last visit the gentleman who helped me out was so sweet and nice. He gave me generous portions of samples but unfortunately I didn't get his name as he wasn't wearing a tag at the time. My issue is that Cold Stone gives out coupons but they don't honor them or somehow there's a flaw in their system they don't seem to care about? I had a 2 for $6 coupon which, when applied, still rang up to around $8 something. When I asked to confirm whether the coupon worked, the cashier responded that yes, it went through, and pointed out the "2 for $6" code on the receipt. She's definitely not wrong but I have posted the picture of the receipt for fellow Yelpers (who may be better at math than I am) to judge. I really enjoy this particular Cold Stone location. I have been visiting this particular store since the day they first open. I think that they have gotten a lot better since opening. A major issue they used to have is not being able to mix the ice cream well, I'm happy to say that they have improved this making the ice cream and overall quality improve. It can get busy here as it is in a "prime" spot in the Mosaic District. I would suggest the best times to come during the day are before the evenings (2-3 pm) and right before they close. I noticed they give a bit more if you arrive before they close. There is a few chairs and a small seating area, but if I were you I rather go outside if the weather is nice and enjoy your ice cream treat outside! The staff has gotten a lot better and friendlier since they first opened which is a plus, my serivce here has always been fast and efficient. Now the ice cream, I think is far better than their Tyson's Corner location. There toppings are more fresh and the overall presentation of the ice cream here is much cleaner looking than other locations I been to. The ice cream is pretty good quality but its understandably more pricey than other ice cream stores. I have always loved the creamy, thick texture of the Coldstone ice cream. This shop is no exception, and welcomes you nicely for dessert by not only offering you a wide variety of flavors to choose from, but also a creative "signature items" menu, where you can choose from smoothies, sundaes, ice cream combos, and other ice cream desserts. I continue to enjoy watching the workers shovel the ice cream around on the "cold stone" before serving it to you. Great tradition and really adds to the experience. The only complaint I have about this place is that it is a little small, and because of that, there is no place to actually sit and eat. I live about 10 miles away from this location but drive all the way their specifically because I always get good service when I go but also it is nice to walk around the area while eating your ice cream. I usually get the birthday cake remix ice cream, which to me is the BEST ice cream they have their. Overall, I do recommend this spot, sometimes since the area itself is really busy it can take a bit to get your ice cream but the employees work hard and its not like their sitting around. Mmmmm mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmm. Be still, my fatty heart. I've never lived as close to a Cold Stone as I do now, and boy howdy, is that going to be a problem. I've literally pulled in to the parking lot and made myself leave without getting out of my car because I cannot resist the cheesecake ice cream. It is so flavorful and the texture is perfect and not at all too melty. Soooo beats fro-yo. Sorry, trends! The staff allow you to sample any flavor you like, and they have convenient little trash buckets for your sample spoons so it's not at all awkward. They also appear to rotate flavors... and don't tell anyone but I ask for at least two samples every time I go because they're free and I can have a small bite of flavors I'm not planning on getting. The staff is more competent and more friendly than I've encountered in similar facilities, and that is greatly appreciated. The salted caramel flavor also recently blew my mind. It has ribbons of real caramel throughout and has just the right amount of saltiness. This last time, I found out I could do two flavors in a Love It! size, and boy, did that make my dreams come true. I also was able to do the same mix-in in each for free in line with their including one mix-in for free. Got me some Heath rolled up in each of those bad boys and in the cup side-by-side, and I was good to go. Until about half way through when I realized this was way more ice cream than I needed and I was regretting not getting a small. (Like It!) My ice cream date got a chocolate, sprinkle dipped waffle cone added on his and that was neat, but the flavor wasn't the greatest. I think I'd go for a plain waffle cone instead. But again, there is a huge ole' mass of ice cream in even a medium, so maybe think twice about how much frozen goodness you're prepared to handle. Also, while the prices seem steep, I'm reminded that it is almost impossible to spend less than $4.something on fro-yo, for a lot less dessert.
