I stopped in today around 6:00 PM (arrived at 5:50) for a manicure and pedicure and specifically requested Michael because I've been here before and he has always been kind, friendly, and consistently provides an excellent experience. Michael did my pedicure and, as expected, he was wonderful. He greeted me, asked what services I wanted, and I showed him my inspiration photos. Unfortunately, once it was decided that Katie would be doing my full set, the experience immediately went downhill. From the moment Michael told her she would be doing the full set, it was obvious she was annoyed and irritated. As a paying customer, that alone was uncomfortable, but it only got worse. I understand and speak Vietnamese, and without realizing it, Katie complained the entire time in Vietnamese saying she didn't want to do the full set, that she wouldn't be able to leave by 7 PM, and that she had plans to go to Tahoe. She was huffing, puffing, sighing loudly, and clearly rushing. Her body language, tone, and attitude were extremely unprofessional and made the entire service uncomfortable. Complaining about a customer in another language, especially when you don't know who understands it, is completely inappropriate. I chose to stay quiet and keep things professional rather than cause a scene. While I do like the style of my nails, the quality of the work itself is poor. The photos show clear flaws such as bubbles in the polish, uneven and sloppy tops, and my left thumb is noticeably tilted to the right. The set looks rushed and careless, which matches the attitude displayed during the service. The total came to $128, and although I'm normally a generous tipper, I tipped $20 specifically for Michael because he earned it. As I was leaving, I overheard Katie comment in Vietnamese about the $20 tip, which was honestly shocking and disrespectful. Katie, I truly hope you work on your professionalism. No customer should feel rushed, judged, or talked about during a service they're paying for. Once I left, the lights were immediately shut off, reinforcing how rushed the entire experience felt. First time having my nails done in a salon. I wanted a salon that could do builder Gel. I read great reviews on this salon and owner Mimi. I had builder gel on that needed to be removed. Mimi was super proficient and definitely skilled in her craft. She removed the old gel with ease and completed a new look with my requested design like a pro! My friend and I have been coming here for 4 years and we are never coming back after today. We were overcharged and brought it to the owners attention. He was trying to defend it then begrudgingly said he could refund some and my friend felt uncomfortable. First visit after the nail shop I supported for several years changed hands. Read the Mimi reviews and decided to give them a try. Called for appt and scheduled. Upon arriving i saw a fairly busy and nicely layed out shop. The pedi chairs looked great. I was greeted and seated quickly in the pedi chair. Nice clean comfortable. They have a lot of polish choices. The walls are filled. I did go with the basic pedicure and the service was great. My toes look great. I had a male as my nail technician. Came in to get my nails and toes done, the guy who did my toes did AMAZING. But I left really unhappy about my nails. I mentioned to the girl that my left pinkie looked crooked and she said "I'm not done", decided to still not say anything more and it's still ended VERY crooked. Nails are super thick overall, too much dip was applied and both pinkie nails are crooked. Decided not to say anything about the nails since we ended at 7:06 (6 minutes after they closed). Everyone was waiting around for us to be done and the girl really rushed it. They even turned off the music which I thought was kinda rude since I still was there. Place is nice and clean, people were friendly, I just didn't have the best experience or nails. But maybe that's my fault for coming in at 5:30 PM when they close at 7. Awful place! Stay Away! Called ahead of time to make an appointment for two people and asked for pricing. Was told to come in. They greeted us and seemed nice at first. We were seated immediately for pedicure. When asked what the prices were, they quoted us a different price from what they told us over the phone. I told them I was confused. Then the owner mumbled something in Vietnamese to another employee (man). He responded in Vietnamese and it went back and forth in a mean tone raising their voices at each other. Very rude. I couldn't understand it but it appeared that they were disagreeing about what to charge me. Then they quickly finished our pedicures cutting the service short. We paid them what was quoted over the phone and left. I was hoping to get a manicure too but I was very unhappy with the pedicure so we left. It was our first time there. Never to return. 1/6 Response: You didn't speak with me about pricing. I believe your wife Mimi quoted me the price for the pedicure for me and my daughter on the phone before I arrived, but when she was doing my pedicure, she spoke to you about the price of the pedicure for my daughter in Vietnamese and there was a disagreement. Then Mimi's attitude changed towards me, and she cut my service short and scoffed something rude to me. I didn't like her tone or her service, so I told her not to do my daughter's pedicure. THIS SALON IS SO CUTE! It's nice walking into a salon that's decorated nicely. I felt instantly relaxed as soon as I got here. I could spend all day sitting in here. Workers are also very polite and sweet. I got a gel manicure and regular pedicure. I thought they did an awesome job and I love my nails. I came across Mimi's Nails when I was living in my apartment up the road. They have always been super easy and friendly to make appointments with or even walk in! I've come here periodically for my nails and pedicure time to time and never have been disappointed. They always have so many fun mail colors! They are always consistent; I've never had a bad experience at Mimi's. I get pedicure's so can't speak to the nail services.

So I called at 10:30 for an appointment. It's 11:54 now and they still haven' started my pedicure. They sat me in a pedicure chair at about 11:00 AM. The water got cold quickly Nobody asked me how the water was!! It was like I didn't even exist. Okay so now it's 11:57 and he's finally started my pedicure. Im beyond frustrated and im very easy going. This is the worst case of customer service I have ever experienced in a nail salon. Why tell me on the phone to come in right now only to make me wait for an hour and 20 minutes. That's a very very long time!!!!! I don't think I'll be back. This is my fourth time here. I am confused about how I feel. I wanted dipping powder with tips - in my experience that meant dipping powder for color with extensions. What the technician gave me was powder for just the base coat and gel for color. When I asked him why he was doing that, his response was that it was hard to find the colors in powder so the gel. I am not sure what to say about that. Did I like the nails? They were not bad. Was it what I wanted? Not. Do I feel like an idiot? A little bit. So, while what I got was decent and the technician put effort into it, it wasn't what I had asked for and I would have liked that made very very clear at the beginning so I would have had an option to choose colors accordingly. read more

So I gave an extra star because it was obvious the tech doing my nails was new, but I think she should still be doing practice nails, not taking actual customers yet. She put absolutely no new acrylic down towards the tip/end of the nail but was filing the top & under the nail, making them all extremely thin at the tips, so much so that the corner has been taken off on some nails & it's rounded now. Lots of uneven nails & crooked nails, which is crazy because I filed all of my nails to the shape I wanted before I went, but will have to spend a lot of time filing & fixing my nails when I get home. This review is for this December 2022: I made an appointment for Mimi's the day before with no problem. When I arrived I was greeted and almost immediately brought back. I got a gel manicure and the gentleman who did them was very efficient and took good care of me. I asked for a white base with red tips and he very professionally suggested a clear, sparkly base instead, explaining that a white base can tend to look dirty when the nails begin to grow out (I had no idea!). My favorite nail salon used to be Deluxe Nails in Folsom, but after hearing that Jason and Mimi were working at this new nail salon, I came here instead. About a week in advance, I scheduled an appointment for my friend and I to get our nails done by Jason and Mimi. When my friend and I arrived at our scheduled time, Jason was doing a manicure for someone, and Mimi seemed busy walking back and forth from the back of the salon to the front desk. Mimi had my friend and I get our nails done by two other nail techs (my friend had a girl named Vicki, I'm not sure who I had). I thought it was a bit strange since we scheduled appointments with Mimi and Jason (I wouldn't have minded waiting for Jason to finish the other girl's manicure), but I shrugged it off. Vicki did my friend's nails and my friend loved them. They looked great. The nail tech I had was friendly; however, the gel polish on my thumb nails weren't sufficiently dry after putting them under the UV light. My nail tech wiped off the polish and redid it multiple times. Even though this made my gel mani take longer to complete, I appreciated her patience and I could tell she was really trying to make sure they came out perfect. I felt satisfied with my nails when I left the salon. However, exactly one week after getting my nails done at Mimi's salon, the gel polish on some of my nails are lifting off already! When I've gotten gel manicures in the past, they always last for over two weeks, sometimes even close to a month. I'm disappointed that the polish is already lifting off. I'll give Mimi's nail salon another try in the future, but I think I'll make sure that I have either Mimi or Jason do my nails next time. read more

Went with my daughter and spent over a hundred. Got a gel manicure and it started to peel off by day 2 and that never happens to me with a gel manicure! It was my first time at this place and I definitely left bummed. I didn't like that my French tip was done free hand and not evened out with a polish remover like all my previous experiences from other salons. I went here for the first time on Saturday because a referral and it was a decent experience. The tech barely shaped my nails. I already had a coffin shape but she filed bad. The edges were rounded and uneven. After a few days my left thumb has already to started lifting. I called and let them know I was experiencing issues, they told me to come in today. I came in and a man cut down my nail and "glued" it, but 15 minutes after I left the left thumb started lifting AGAIN! Now I'm just on my couch and just went to grab a blanket and my nail broke off on the tip. This is my second time going to a nail salon where they did not do my nails right. my family has known Jason and Mimi for over three years when they were located at Deluxe Nails and every time we get our nails done from them they look absolutely amazing!! Wonderful staff and mani/pedi. We did a mama pampering afternoon and I'm glad this is the place we decided to go. I don't usually do designs so I'm not sure what the charge was for the addition.... That said, the mani was $70 which is more than I usually pay, but again, nails were even, symmetrical and my cuticles we haggard before so they definitely needed extra attention. I wish I could afford $140 for mani/pedi every 3-4 weeks, I'd definitely go back regularly there! Friendly staff and a wonderful treat for us.
