Mina and Rochelle were simply wonderful therapists and both my daughter and I (we both had 80 min) agreed that it was the best massage we had had, and we get them a lot, all over the world. An interesting experience but not what I was hoping for! As I told Mina at the end, this was like no other massage I have experienced before. It is obvious that Mina is very passionate about her work - she literally pours her heart and soul into her therapy sessions. When I booked the massage on-line I had commented that I wanted help with a sore shoulder and recently hurt my back - recurring herniation of my lumbar disk. I mentioned that I had been doing exercises designed to help treat the disk (I mentioned it was like the Cobra pose in Yoga) and it was definitely improving. While I had been planning for a more relaxing massage with some focus on the trouble spots, what I received was what I described to Mina as a Ninja massage therapy session. Mina puts he entire body into her treatments, often using one or both legs for stretching while using hands for massaging. Your arms and legs are put through a wide variety of contortions throughout the session. The treatments are strong, fast and focused - that is why I refer it as Ninja massage. This style seems very well suited to someone desiring more of a medical approach to their treatment but definitely would not describe in any way as relaxing. Mina seemed far too focused on the comment about my shoulder and the amount of time spent on that part was far in excess of what I would have expected. Unfortunately during aggressive (at least compared to any other massage I had previously) manipulation of my legs my back pain flared up. Mina was responsive and adjusted her technique but it was too late and, unfortunately my back was worse than when I started. I told her after the pain happened that I am an old, inflexible guy and I can't bend like that; she replied that she thought I did yoga (based on my reference to my back exercises as a yoga person would understand -- I believe she jumped to an assumption based on an off the cuff comment which led her down the wrong path). Ultimately I think Mina is an exceptional therapist and truly dedicated to her practice. - that is why 4 stars (based on the experience I had it would have been more like a 2 but as below I think there are extenuating circumstances). The mistake on my side was to not be more clear about what I was wanting in my massage. I think Mina would benefit from slowing down (she is a relentless fireball of energy but I think that leads to her jumping to conclusions about the client's request), taking a bit more time up front to ask questions and really ensure she understands what the customer desires and needs. We both made assumptions that, in the end, lead to an experience that did not match well to my expectations. My recommendation would be to take the time to be very clear about what you want, maybe even necessary to have Mina repeat back what you are seeking to ensure both of you are in agreement - if you do that I think you will have an exceptional experience. read more

I booked an appointment with Mina after reading her stellar reviews here. It was unlike any massage I've every experienced--in the best way possible. After a short interview, Mina determined the best massage for me was a Swedish/deep tissue. Once we began, she surprised me by climbing up on the table. Mina uses her entire body to perform her massage. She uses her body weight, her arms and legs to massage, move & stretch your body, eliminating the most stubborn knots. I immediately relaxed into it to allow her to do her thing. She's moves around the table efficiently, never wasting a second of time--some muscle is always being made to stretch and let go. The way she manages to keep you modestly covered at all times is like a carefully choreographed dance. A true talent! Ever been rubbed by kitten paws with the strength of a tiger?! Aviva made that happen during my massage. I got a sports massage and was only disappointed when it ended. I get regular deep tissue massages and feel like this was one of the best I've had! Amazing, strong, and even hit my feet (we all know people don't like touching feet). Richelle did an amazing job! I had extreme pain in my shoulders, neck, upper back, and forearms from over doing it my first day on Maui. I asked if she could do some intense and deep work on the muscles. She really got after it and opened up my muscles. It relieved the pain and tightness. I tend to be really tight and most masseuse have a hard time putting enough pressure in. She listened to me and worked the areas that were giving me trouble. First time in Maui so I looked on yelp and found this small and cozy place. It was my niece and I. I got Mina, she is amazing! I suffer from sciatica so getting up was a challenge but after that little challenge I felt great. I loved that her hands and arms moved to the beat of the music, it was different but I feel good.
