The tartare was memorable and yummy, though the bread could've been crispier. The burger was phenomenal, truly outstandingly delicious. But the star of the show was the peanut butter pie, I would come back just for the pie! Unfortunately, I found a hair in the bottom of my drink, just as I was enjoying the muddled fruit from my old fashioned. I remain confused by the fact the hair didn't appear to belong to myself or the bartender - how did it get there in the first place? And what if I hadn't taken the time to enjoy the fruit at the bottom of my cup? Though the bartender and another staff person agreed to remove the price of the drink from my tab, perhaps management may benefit from a conversation not only about maintaining high standards and love for the food served, but also in moments where errors (like hair in food) occur, how to go above and beyond rather than doing what I consider to be bare minimum.

Whoever did the design work - respect. Food - our impetus for going was seeing oeufs murette offered which I never see and love with all my heart. Sadly, it wasn't available but there were so many other delicious things. Deviled eggs and pretzel bites (with cheese spread) to start - channeling Wisco classics. I had a delightful pasta and mister had barramundi. I DO NOT LIKE FISH. This barramundi broke me - it was so delicious and not fishy. If you can make me like fish you deserve all the stars! Drinks - we had a gorgeous prosecco that was surprisingly complex. Thumbs up. Service - super knowledgeable and friendly. We later realized it was the chefs wife - hats off to this dynamic duo for a delicious evening!!

We started with the pink Guava Paloma and the Schilling Local Legends for our drinks. The Pink Guava Paloma tasting amazing and was strong. You were really able to taste the tequila but it wasn't un-drinkable. The Guava was a great blend with the drink and my friend wished he had gotten the same drink because of how good it tasted. The menu was divided up into three different sections; Field, Sea, and Pasture. They also had specials, as well. We tried to get a few items from each section to try different dishes. In the Field section, we tried the Truffle Potato Skins (WI). The potatoes skins were PILED onto the plate. They were more soft than crunchy but tasted amazing. I wasn't really able to taste the truffle but it was still good. In the Sea section, we tried the Sambal Goreng Udang (Indonesia). An Indonesian dish with white shrimp, sambal chili paste, mash potatoes, and coconut milk. Honestly, this was my favorite dish. It was creamy and the mashed potatoes paired so well with the sauce and the shrimp. It had a hint of spice, which elevated the experience for me personally, as I love spicy food. In the Pasture section, we tried the Beef Empanadas (Columbia) and Vietnamese Pork Belly Crepes (Vietnam). The Beef Empanadas came with four pieces and some green sauce. The outside was crunchy and not over fried, the inside was perfectly filled and moist. Would highly recommend it as it was amazing. The Vietnamese Pork Belly Crepes were a little disappointing. I was expecting them to come out like the traditional Vietnamese crepes, crispy outside with the pork belly and other fillings on the inside. Instead it was like an actual crepe mix. It was soft and honestly okay. It wasn't our favorite. As for the specials they were offering, we tried the Pork Tenderloin. The Pork Tenderloin was pretty good, not super dry. It was served on top of potatoes and tasted amazing. La Merenda has a very cozy atmosphere. Low lights and overall just a chill and quaint spot. I will definitely come back for more of the Sambal Goreng Udang and to try out some of their other plates!

Fucking love this place…read more If there is a highly rated small plates place in a location we are visiting, you can count on us to find it. We walked literally thirty minutes to this place from our hotel. It was a lovely walk in early August. We had a 5:45pm reservation on a Thursday (we are old now) and we were seated immediately. Service was excellent. Ok so they have a fantastic cocktail menu. I appreciate any cocktail menu that is more complex than vodka and cranberry juice but this takes it to another level of creativity. I also like how they name them with numbers. It's so much easier to say "I'll have a 42" rather than "I will have a duperbeamerscicle". I started with an "88" with pisco, rose-poached strawberry, amontillado sherry, verjus, rose port, and pink peppercorn. Served in a highball glass and garnished with berries. Very refreshing. GF started with the "91" mezcal, passion fruit, poblano, pineapple, amaro, lime. Gorgeous and chic. Very strong, smoky flavor. When in Rome, so the cheese plate did not feel like an option. Four fantastic cheeses were served with very tasty candied nuts, some jam business, grapes, and some of the best bread I have had on a cheese plate. Thick, soft, and fluffy. Paired absolutely perfectly with cheese. Only complaint is that I wish there was more of it. I haven't had deviled eggs in a minute so I went wild and also had the chili crisp deviled eggs which were SPECTACULAR. I also got the Egyptian fried cauliflower which is served on a smear of harissa and lemon tahini. Very flavorful. Star of the show tbh was the tagliatelle with squash, tomato, these fried cheese crisps. The noodles were al dente and SO GOOD in such a wonderful sauce. GF also got the steak, she says "very good seasoning". I helped her out with the kimchi pancake. Wonderful. Such a great sauce. For our second round of dranks we both went with the "77" makrut lime vodka, tamarind, bird's eye chili, cilantro, lime, lemongrass. Very tamarind forward. Very unique. I can see why it's our server's favorite drink on the menu. The desserts looked really good (something with sticky rice I think it was a cocktail and a bread budding that looked fantastic) but we just weren't feeling it.

Our bartender was incredibly friendly, charismatic, and genuinely passionate about the menu. He took the time to explain dishes, offered thoughtful recommendations, and made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Every dish we ordered was outstanding. The deviled eggs were easily our favorite and are an absolute must-order. We also loved the flatbread with fiddleheads, which featured a delicious curry-inspired flavor that reminded us of an Indian dish. My husband couldn't stop talking about the bread pudding and said it was one of the best desserts he's had. Everything we tried was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. If we lived in Milwaukee, Odd Duck would absolutely become one of our regular spots. We can't wait to come back the next time we're in town.

The breadsticks were a highlight, so so good! The spinach dip was also unique and delicious - I did feel both were a bit over priced but overall good. The club banger was delicious, and the tavern crust was crispy. Likewise for the Forman. Pizza here was solid but about $30 per pie which is a bit pricey for a 14 inch, but ingredients were fresh and it was a bit more of an upscale vibe. The service was just ok - our waitress didn't really come around with refills and we had to flag her down a few times. Overall solid vibe and food though, we'd definitely come back to try a different pie.

My pizza on the last delivery order was scorched and dry - consistency can be an issue. We also find the prices to be pretty high, but we are fans in general.

We started out with a shrimp bisque and I had the sticky buns with hoisin sauce and pork belly. It was delicious! There were also homemade sweet pickles which went great with it. There was also a complementary liver pate which I loved. Our entrees were pork loin and steak. Both were cooked beautifully. We would go back again, it was a gourmet meal at bargain prices. I only wish they would give discounts for MATC students.
