I have been wanting to go to Odd Duck for so long, and I finally got the chance and it did not disappoint! We had a wonderful experience dining here! Our server, Adam, was quick and attentive. He was funny, suggested items for us to try, and was very tentative of our friend's food allergy. We started the night with a few drinks; #39 non-alcoholic Paloma, #129 non-alcoholic sbagiato, and #33 Sherry Pear-Y. All of which were absolutely amazing! Then we ordered the Chili Crisp Deviled Eggs (comes with two pieces), Crispy Thai-Style Oyster Mushrooms, Cappelletti, Slow-braised Bison Cheek, Cha Ca La Vong (Catfish), and the Wood-fired Bavette Steak. Where do I begin? First off, everything was fantastic! Delicious, creative, and memorable. Some dishes even had us ordering seconds! First the Chili Crisp Deviled Eggs: so creamy! We ended up ordering another plate of them (four orders) because one wasn't enough for the four of us. The Crispy Thai-Style Oyster Mushroom: insanely seasoned! It was crispy and the kick of the Thai chili peppers, made it our tables favorite (we ordered another plate of this)! The bits of crunch rice mixed in was also a pleasant surprise. The bits of green beans and cucumber was a nice way to cool the kick of the spices. The Slow-braised Bison Cheek: It was very interesting. Very soft and when paired with the polenta cake, mozzarella, and carrot, it tasted amazing. Cha Ca La Vong (Catfish): Also very interesting. It tastes very similar to a Vietnamese catfish soup! The pineapple fish sauce paired amazing with the glass noodles. The only complaint I have about this dish, was that the glass noodles weren't fully cooked, so they were a bit hard. The Wood-fired Bavette Steak: My god, this was amazing! It was perfectly cooked, the dark chocolate bordelaise paired with the mushrooms and steak was incredible. Like I said, everything was amazing! Our table was blown away with the creativity and quality of the food. The service was amazing, everyone was very sweet and helpful. The atmosphere was lovely and quirky. Odd Duck has been one of the top places I've been wanting to go to for a while. The vibes were 10/10. This is such a cool place to take your time eating at. The servers here know the menu very well which was super helpful when deciding what we wanted to order. The food was good but out of the 4 dishes we ordered the Tempura Nori Roll GIMMARI was the only memorable item to me and our server said it would be rotated off of the menu. On the tail end of my summer trip where I completed visiting all fifty US States, passed thru Wisconsin on the way to Chicago to fly home back to California. The Odd Duck was where my friend and I grabbed dinner one night. Street parking. I didn't buy a lottery ticket but lucked out and found a spot across the street. Didn't have to do laps or pay. Always a good start when going out anywhere. Place was busy. No reservation. However, the luck continued as a table opened up in the bar area - window seating to boot. And though busy, service was attentive, friendly and great. Food was great! See pics. There wasn't a dish I didn't like and I can say that I'd definitely order the same line up again. Though I'd definitely like to try other menu items. It wasn't just about presentation - ingredients, flavors all just hit the spot. These are tapas size dishes so I could have eaten everything myself. Know that so you order accordingly. What a surprisingly great restaurant and meal! The menu is so creative and the food quite tasty with truly exceptional combinations of ingredients so cleverly composed. We had deviled eggs, a super fresh crudo, amazing salads, and some incredible proteins. My wife has two rather complicated allergies--cilantro and high fructose corn syrup--and the staff and kitchen went out of their way to mark up a copy of the menu for her so she could safely explore what options she could eat. We are from Los Angeles and my son moved to Milwaukee recently. Odd Duck felt like a place we would have discovered back in Southern California. Outstanding! We came in on a Saturday night with a reservation (seems critical - it was packed) and were seated right away. They have a rotating menu and are very accommodating to food allergies! The waitress took my menu and had the kitchen mark it up and discussed variations. The drink menu is fascinating and they have a big wine menu too. Our waitress recommended 2 plates per person and that seemed to be a good amount and so we got to try 8 things split 4 ways (though I think this is the max you could share one plate). The flavors were interesting and unique and overall delightful. The table's favorite was the duck ravioli with squash with the potatoes at a close second for me. There's a variety of vegetarian options. The business chooses to publicly display their values through signs signaling that they aim to be an open and inclusive space. **June 2025: Tuesday Dinner Visit** My friend and I saw so many positive reviews for the Odd Duck and the restaurant was a happening place despite being a weeknight. We arrived around 5pm without a reservation, but thankfully there a table near the window opened up for us. I enjoyed the tapas / small plate style dining experience at Odd Duck and loved the drinks! I had a unique lemongrass and cilantro cocktail, which was the highlight of the evening for me. Every aspect of our visit was amazing from the staff accommodating us during peak evening hours on a Friday night to the food. We had a wonderful experience at Odd Duck while in MKE for a wedding. Between the 4 of us we ordered everything from the vegetarian side of the menu except the potatoes and ordered a couple of carnivore items as well. I can't say there was a single dish that missed the mark. Our server, Andrew, did a wonderful job or pacing the meal, making suggestions, and just was an overall great presence for our dinner. He never rushed us. He never failed to meet expectations at all. We were so engrossed with our eating and discussions that 3 hours later we looked at our watches and were astonished we'd been there so long. Solid! We went here for an impromptu date night as we have always wanted to try it and use some rest credit we had there. For starters I will say we enjoyed the service as we were promptly seated and walked through the menu. We do think the space was quite warm for a summer night. They used fiddleheads in one of the sauces which is something not commonly seen in the Midwest and was very delicious. The rabbit and ramp gyoza were the best thing we ate that evening. I've dined at Odd Duck 3 times. The first time was in 2019 at its previous location, and the three of us liked every dish we shared. The second time was a about 3 years ago at its current location, and the two of us liked the dishes a lot (particularly the vegetarian dishes). I visited the restaurant once more with my family in December 2025, expecting the same delicious food with balanced flavor profiles. The menu has completely changed from what we saw a couple of years ago, indicating that the restaurant keeps innovating and offers different dishes as the season changes. What was disappointing, however, is that the "new" dishes had either one overpowering flavor (e.g., sourness) or nothing to distinguish themselves from those at much cheaper restaurants. The following were the dishes that we shared. - Honeycrisp Apple Salad. The taste was overwhelmingly sour due to the dressing, and most people could have done better at home. - Smashed Potatoes. The ingredients looked very good, and the taste was pretty good as well, although none of us were really impressed with the flavors. - Fried Oyster Mushrooms. The dish was ok, but there was again nothing distinguishing. - Chinese Allium Pancakes. This was a complete failure as the pancakes were just cooked pieces of flattened dough with green onions inside, whereas Chinese green onion pancakes are supposed to be crispy with many thin layers (like puff pastry). - Duck Confit & Mushroom Doppio Ravioli. This is by far the most tasteful dish of all. - Wood-Fried Goan Sausage Ring. The dish was very good also. - Wood-Fried Bavette Steak. The steak was cooked properly, and the flavor was fine, although some of the pieces were a bit chewy. The dish again had nothing to distinguish itself from similar dishes at much cheaper restaurants. Overall, we had high expectations but were rather disappointed with the quality of the dishes we ordered. Innovation is for sure a good thing, but the restaurant seems to offer a bunch of new dishes without carefully testing and refining them, damaging its own image in the minds of customers. read more

Food: -pork chop: cooked perfectly with the right level of sweetness -BAVETTE STEAK: cooked perfectly with meat retaining its flavorful juices, paired well with the garnishes and potatoes for clearing the palate -beet salad: this one I was rather disappoint with. Despite the nice arrangement the beets themselves lacked any flavor. I've had much in many other places. -charcuterie: had the Schroeder Kase and Sopressata, the plate also comes with the chef's choice of bread, grapes, dijon mustard, pecans, pickles, and candied apricots. Everything tasted fresh. Would recommend. Could substitute as a dish -bay leaf soft serve: never had soft serve in this flavor before. Got a hardy bowl and the crunch of the nuts complemented the flavor well Overall food: these are smaller plates or one charcuterie and one dish. So be ready to order two plates to get you belly full. I would consider this a $$$ spot but good for a casual night. Service was top notch. Both at the bar and at the table. Every server knew how to explain the menu and what to recommend. Well, Odd Duck does it again. This was my first visit to their new location (I know, I'm late), but I was delighted to check it out and both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience! Our server, Andrew, was fantastic. Just an overall friendly guy, very attentive, lots of great recs. I needed a refresher on the menu and best way to order, since Odd Duck is primarily small/shareable plates, and he walked us through how many plates are recommended for two people, and some of his favorites. As soon as our wine arrived to the table (sauv blanc for me and flavorful cab for my husband), we decided to put in some items from the cheese and charcuterie menu. Wow, loveddd the gouda and the serrano ham. They came plated with a few other bites like grapes, bread, and marcona almonds (YUM). We went on to share the wood fired brussels sprouts, the duck dish that definitely had some spice (in a great way), and the chorizo chicken. They were all fantastic. And I hate to say it, but their menu is always rotating so you may or may not be able to get your hands on these ones in particular. The good news? It was a birthday outing. Going to the Odd duck I always know it's a special occasion. And it did not disappoint as usual. We had reservations for two so we were seated promptly. The service was wonderful and everyone was nice. The gal delivering food to the table could have used a smile or two. We enjoyed the ambiance. They seat you quite close and you can hear your neighbors conversations without trying too hard. That being said we enjoyed our food. We tried the deviled eggs....yum!! The oyster mushrooms ... they were our favorite. The smoked duck...very good flavor. The braised bison cheeks....a must try. The lamb quesabirria....probably our least favorite but still good. And of course we had to have dessert, the pecan brownie with cream....a great way to end our special night out at The Odd Duck. He explained how the menu is ever-changing, so no matter how often you dine at the restaurant there will always be something new and different to try. Was able to walk in and seat at the bar on a Saturday at 7pm. I think if you like to try new and interesting foods, you need to come here! I had enfrijoladas con huitlacoche. That's like the fungus that grows off corn and you would think it taste crazy. I just think it added this smokiness too it. I would definitely eat it again again. There are obviously hundreds of great reviews for this place so this will be direct...this place runs on the idea of shareable plates but nothing about the dishes are share friendly nor noteworthy. They suggest ordering 2-3 items per person which you certainly must if you want to actually have something resembling an actual meal. Of the 9 dishes we ordered not a single one had a wow factor but most had us questioning where is this going. If you are a foodie and unimpressed with the ambiance of a low lit room with barn wood walls you probably want to go to a real restaurant that serves real meals that are really good, this place is meh/meh+. We've been dying to try Odd Duck and this restaurant did not disappoint! Food was amazing, drinks were creative and service was impeccable. Make reservations a few weeks in advance if you want a prime seating time. The restaurant is definitely busy but not overly loud. For drinks, we started with the #51 which was a floral aperitif sparking cocktail and the #11 which is a blackberry and brandy drink. These were good but we switched to the #38 for our second drinks and this was hands down our favorite. Our waiter recommended we get 2-3 of the vegetable / animal portions to share and it was the perfect size. We ordered the Bavette steak, piri piri chicken, short rib, smashed potato's, karrotensalat, and pork belly for dinner. For veggies, smashed potato's are a must but we would have switched the carrot salad for something else. For meats, loved the short rib, chicken and steak. Pork belly was good but not our favorite. We then ended the meal with a rhubarb tart. Since the plates are all small and shareable. I recommend going with someone who's willing to try a few different things so you can get a good variety. This place was fantastic! Service, ambience, and very accommodating! I messaged the restaurant via email to see if I could get a reservation for a party of 12 for the Thursday of that same week, and I didn't have very high hopes bc of the buzz around this place, but they were quick to respond and let me know they could handle it. So kind. This was a work dinner, and we had the pleasure of not having to be as economical as I may have been if the bill were entirely on my dime, so we tried a lot of foods and drinks. It helped that this place serves small plates so we could put our palates through their paces. Everything was delicious by the way. We even tried the chicken liver pate which was...different, but entirely edible - I don't love chicken liver really - but it seemed like a good time to give it a try. Note that our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and just really on top of things, so no complaints there either. The space is quirky yet trendy, the service is top-notch, and the food is upscale yet approachable. When you try 15-20 different dishes, and every single one is successful, that's a rare feat. Add to that a really reasonable price point -- Especially for the quality, and it's no wonder the place is packed on the regular. This was exactly what I was looking for. The devil eggs were a great starter. The Asian pancakes with spicy hummus and cauliflower in Szechuan sauce was magnificent! Then the whitefish with wild rice from a tribe in Minnesota prepared by the new indigenous chef at the restaurant was simply delicious! Of course I had to have dessert and went for the spice flavored crème brûlée with sugar cookies. It was so beautiful it looked like a piece of art. My waitress Sophie was just the sweetest. She was so accommodating and knowledgeable, listening to my desires and guiding me through the menu. If you are looking for a place that feels like home away from home this is it! I returned to Odd Duck last night and found a seat at the bar. Olivia took care of us, and her service was excellent. Our food came out quickly. I ordered the scrumptious chicken liver mousse, which I spread on Odd Duck's delicious bread. The pork pâté was just okay, but Paris is our second home, and I can't help comparing. My grilled octopus entrée had a common problem experienced in Milwaukee restaurants. Too much stuff was on top of the seafood, drowning out the octopus flavor. When I shoved everything aside and found the octopus, it was delicious. I ate the other crap when I was done with the tiny pieces of octopus, and all of it was tasty on its own, but that poor octopus was buried alive. Fried Chicken was also buried under a pile of stuff, but because the pieces of poultry were large, you could taste the chicken amongst the mound of food. Thus, it fared better. It was a flavorful dish. Odd Duck's gestalt is wonderful, and thus, the five stars. It's important to analyze each offer before ordering food because the dishes vary. However, most folks at Odd Duck want a good time, and the food is just fine for them. We love dining and have eaten well in places far and wide. That's not typical for Milwaukee. Odd Duck remains one of Milwaukee's best. By the way, I much rather eat at the bar. I find the dining room somber, with a muddy color on the walls. Odd Duck's soul is anything but somber. read more

We had such a great dinner here last night. From the moment we sat down, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling overbearing.
