Sorry, blurry, but wanted to show all that comes with the bento box. Salad came first.

This was a surprise!! Do not let the strip mall exterior fool you. The restaurant has been redone on the inside, it is beautiful. A bit dark, especially for lunch, but with the natural light coming through the front windows, the decor is beautiful. The food was also excellent! The best California rolls I've ever hard. We upgraded to soy paper, huge difference. They were amazing. We liked the King Kong roll and the Spicy tuna a lot as well. The Spider Maki and the spicy salmon were good. The salmon was excellent in texture. One person got the salmon be to box, excellent value for the price, $14. Lunch is the way to try Minami. The server allowed us to all get the ginger salad instead of the miso soup. The bento box comes with both, and the soup was the only thing all lunch that didn't get five star reviews, so it was great we could swap. Lastly, when the bill came, I slid it to my mom and said Happy Birthday with a laugh, but the server heard me and brought my mom a cheesecake topped with strawberries for dessert. It was very kind. Four people $78 for lunch. Not terrible in this day and age.

Fresh fish, no frozen taste at all. Portion is great, not full of rice like a lot of other places. Service is good. Staff is very nice. Great for a date, solo dolo, group gathering, anything!

Came during lunch hour and we both got the lunch bento box. It was good but the salad dressing was pretty bland, no flavor and the rice was kind of undercooked. The portion was decent for the price. Good service overall. The ambiance of the restaurant was modern and dark inside even with natural sunlight. It's a good date night restaurant for that intimacy vibe. Definitely worth checking out.

Came to Minami Sushi for a celebration dinner and was thoroughly impressed! This sushi spot is located in a strip mall area off Barrington Rd. When you step inside, the vibe immediately turns into a cool, elevated sushi spot. The inside had a lot of darker tones so the highlight of the space is the sushi bar where they make everything in front of you. We started our dinner with the Tokyo Cosmo Martini and Minami Highball drinks. Most drinks try to have a Japanese twist to them which is fun! The Cosmo was spirit forward but a little tart. The Highball was very flavorful and you got a good taste of the Japanese Whiskey they use. For food, we started with the Crab Rangoon's which were not typical. These had much better balance of crab meat to cream cheese with a slightly spiced sauce on top. For entrees, my husband got the King Kong Roll & Rainbow Roll. I got the Veggie Caterpillar Roll. Everything came out in beautiful presentations, tasted fresh, and had great flavor. Ordering rolls also comes with complimentary miso soup. Overall, we loved our experience, staff was kind, and we will certainly be back! Tip: Cocktails are 1/2 off all day on Thursdays & Sundays.

My husband and I met my brother and his wife at Minami Sushi. The parking lot is really small and we had to walk a distance event though we parked in the parking lot. Once I walked inside, I was struck by the elegance of the restaurant. I ordered the salmon bento box and my husband ordered the chirashi. The entrees came with salad and miso soup. We got a lot of food when compared with the money we paid. The food tasted great. The fish was fresh and tasted amazing. Our server was nice and friendly.

Wow, what a pleasant surprise! Tucked away in an unassuming strip mall with a plain looking sign - you'd never expect the beautiful, elegant, restaurant you're walking into. Everything impresses from the top notch service to the beautifully plated food to the quality of the finish. This is all offered with generous portion sizes and very reasonable prices for the quality of food you're getting. Though the sushi is the star of the show here, the food that comes out of the kitchen is great as well. The salmon teriyaki is perfectly cooked with slightly crisp skin and a deliciously sweet yet slightly tangy sauce. The tempura is battered with a crisp yet light coating with a neat preparation and arrangement. The gyoza is deep fried with a perfect crisp and just a light dabble of sauce. Maki isn't oversauced here, instead depending on quality ingredients and herbs to provide the flavor. This really helps to demonstrate the faith that the restaurant has in the quality of their fish. This is most apparent in the chirashi, where nice thick slices of fish are presented on top of a bed of vinegared rice and seaweed salad. I was quite happy with the selection of fish provided, as it wasn't just the usual salmon and tuna selection that a lot of places provide. Definitely order the fatty tuna (they also offer fatty yellowtail and fatty salmon) here if you can, as it is delicious. Overall, exceptional quality fish, elegant decor, and great decor at very reasonable prices make this spot worth a special visit for any sushi lover.

This minimal Japanese restaurant and sushi bar offers a refined space suited for discerning sushi enthusiasts. Perfect for a quick lunch, a relaxed date, or a casual meet-up with friends, it combines modern elegance with a welcoming atmosphere. Their bento boxes are popular, and signature dishes like yaki udon and crispy chicken katsu with Japanese BBQ sauce are highly recommended. Seasonally, try the Laura Abbey roll, soft shell crab, Hell roll or dragon roll for a truly satisfying experience. The miso soup and petite salad with carrot ginger dressing delight. The sushi boat sets sail an omekase amount of pieces (7 rolls, 8 pieces of nigiri and chicken karage). The go-to entrees are spicy chicken teriyaki or panko breaded or grilled salmon. With decades of expertise, it's an ideal spot to enjoy quality sushi and create memories. #sushi #schaumburg #dining #nightout

Best sushi in the northwest suburbs! We love coming to Minami. It's a must visit sushi spot with great vibes and service. They have a nice selections of menu options to choose from. Everything we have tried so far has been a 10/10. The place is always busy so getting reservations is highly recommended . Their appetizers and sushi are both so good. I will definitely back here again soon.

So happy to learn about this place. This restaurant serves Japanese style and Korean style of sushi. Service was ok. It got really busy. Cool about this restaurant in the back is that they have a call button. Fish was fresh and all the side dishes were delicious. We were overwhelmed by amount of food but overall it was an excellent meal.

Very fresh fish with generous amounts in each roll. Couldn't have been happier. The shrimpinator was great (much better than the name). Tasty Ex and Spider rolls are definite ones to get again. One of the best spider rolls I have ever had. The Chicago roll had so much fish! Nigir was okay, eel wasn't great but salmon was good. Volcano roll was the only one I didn't love, a little too sweet for me. Wasn't the cheapest sushi, but for the quality and quality it was worth it.

I tried their Korean style sashimi sets. It was amazing. Fish and seafood are very fresh and soft. All the appetizers were delicious. Very authentic Korean. The staff were attentive. I think the dining area was separate for Korean style dining. I felt like I was in Korea.

This might just be my new favorite sushi/Asian/Japanese spot -- it's that good! The portions are generous, beautifully presented, and the prices are very reasonable. The vibe inside is cozy with dim lighting, and the staff is polite and attentive. We ordered a mix of items to try: a virgin piña colada and another with alcohol, miso soup, steamed pork gyoza, garlic edamame, a shrimp tempura/imitation crab lettuce boat (so good, even if I can't remember the exact name!), and the Salmon Avalanche Roll. Everything was full of flavor with no complaints, except the roll was a little mushy just because it was loaded with so many toppings. Overall, such a great experience -- I'll definitely be back!

My boyfriend: Where should we go to eat? Me: I don't know. (Opens Google Maps and scrolls near our places) Me: How about Minami Sushi? Him: Sure! Minami Sushi was an unexpected surprise. We loved this place. The jazz covers playlist by the way is incredible. The sushi and appetizers are out of this world. The staff and service are speedy, friendly, and just amazing. I can't wait to come back here again. My favorite part about this place was the ambiance. Such a fun, cheerful place. Thank you so much!

I got -shrimp po boys (x-tomato) with fries -one of each sauce -peach cobbler On my 15 minute drive home everything was still fresh and warm and crispy. -Fries were SO perfectly seasoned I almost didn't even need a sauce, which for me is crazy as I need a sauce with everything (but I always try it first without). -The po boy...my god. It was so crispy, fresh, the shrimps were perfectly battered (hate when they hide the shrimp between 10 layers of batter), the lettuce was fresh and surprisingly not wilted by the time I got to my destination. I'm not one for cheese on my po boys, and almost got it without, but im actually really glad I kept the cheese on. -Sauces were all great, the Roumalade is where it's at though. I could've really just had 10 of those and been happy! The tarter was a bit less zesty/tart than what I'm used to, but I ended up putting the hot sauce in it and it was delicious -peach cobbler i have yet to try, but it looks so glossy and creamy, will be eating tonight! The service was really just the cherry on top. Elizabeth, the owner, is the one who greeted me, and she was just a doll. She's a sauce queen, like me, so she made sure I try every single sauce! And gave me the peach cobbler on the house as it's my first time there. She's just the sweetest! You can tell her, her husband, and her son just have so much fun together. I'm just so warmed by my experience there, as she went so above and beyond, AND my food was impeccable. I'm quite the critique with my food, and only rate honest to what I feel, and this place deserves 5/5 stars hands down.

I stopped in for lunch to pickup a large order or shrimp and fries. I was greeted by Elizabeth initially. She insisted that I upgrade to the plate instead which included cole slaw and potato salad for a small extra fee so I proceeded to lock it in. Shortly after, her husband Kenny greeted me and we had a friendly talk for a while. They hooked me up with an additional side and drink (they did not have to do that) which I thought was a very kind gesture. My food came out prompt, hot and fresh. I ate a few shrimp and fries while there before hitting the road. Everything was crispy, seasoned well and appetizing. I ate the cole slaw and potato salad later at work and enjoyed each. Overall, this is a business I'd certainly return to in the near future. Cost is very competitive and on par with most places so this is a reason to further recommend them. To the owners, thank you for an excellent first impression. Hope to see you again soon!

It is the classic set-up, where you pick a base (usually rice) and the protein (usually raw fish), and enhance the texture and flavor by directing the counter person to add various toppings and sauces. The counter person was very friendly, giving us plenty of time to make our choice. She was also generous with the toppings, and I'm pretty sure she would have customized it anyway we want. The prep area was very clean, tidy, and organized, with each bin fully stocked with the prescribed ingredients. There is only one size, with one large scoop of fish and rice being the base, and it's plenty. Some toppings are extra: if you get the basic with tuna and no extra-costing add-ons, it is $12. I ended up getting a predefined bowl called the Da Kine (Marinated tuna) for $13, and it was good: nice mix of flavors and made it simple. Some differences from previous poke places we've been: -- they offer a sushi rice option, taking the same hot white rice, and squirting a sushi (vinegar and sugar) mixture on top of it. In my case, it didn't really add much. -- they have a premarinated tuna option, along with the unmarinated. Some places are now letting you choose your sauce spice mix first, and then marinating your protein choice for you right there. It's a bit more work, but I think it does add something worth it. The marinated tuna that I had was fine, but definitely lacked the absolute 'wow' when eating just freshly cubed ahi tuna. It looks like the Poke Bros are THE place for Poke all around Chicagoland, and they have found a good place to source their ahi and salmon (hopefully) daily, as good as can be expected this far from the ocean.
