Second time coming here and the only things that have changed were her attitude has gotten worse and the prices have sky rocketed. Over $30 to put a patch on a jacket. The attitude was in full force when questioned as well. A lot of "you know...", "well, I have to..." and "you're not going to find...". Also the turnaround time was 5 days. First off let me share that I am 5'2. When shopping for pants or long dresses the fabric is usually too long. I had an event that required an elegant dress. I found a dress that I loved but it was too long. I took it to Mina's as a walk in and took the shoes that I planned to wear with the dress. I was greeted right away with a friendly smile. I used the changing room and put the dress on and then stood on a platform so that the seamstress could adjust the length with pins. I told her that I needed the dress in a week. This shop helped me out big time! Ordered a bridesmaid dress and it was RUINED I paif extra to get it sized and they ruined it. I brought it here to get fixed and she altered it PERFECTLY!! I found out I didn't realize the bridesmaid party was sooner than expected so I needed the dress 4-5 days sooner, she fixed it and had it out in perfect timing !! I'm forever grateful for this shop! A dress was altered. Went to pick it up, store was closed before 4 pm. It's advertised to stay open till 1700 hours, which is 5pm. They don't have voicemail set up, they don't answer the phone, need to pick up the dress. Are they really open on Saturday from 9am? Right now, that's anyone's guess. Communication is key. read more

I went to this place because it's the most convenient to where I live. I needed 3 pants to be hemmed (a basic hem) and was charged $136 - the pants didn't even cost that much! Not only is this place highway robbery, but the older lady had ZERO customer service skills. She was rude and made excuses as to why it was going to be that much - 3 pants for $136! Never in my life have I ever paid this much to tailor pants! I will definitely travel a distance to get better prices and better customer service elsewhere. So I was looking for a new place to get things altered in the new neighborhood. I stumbled on this Mina's and the overall 2 star rating. Of course this was somewhat of a deterrent, however the comments were about her being rude. This place offered same day alterations...so I was in a Catch 22. I didn't hold weight to the comments since they just didn't seem legit enough and have enough weight. Anyway, I figured I'd try this place. Worse case I go somewhere else after a potential negative experience. I walked in and Mina(Asian American), the owner was no more direct than any other elderly grandmother would be when they're busy. I didn't take this as rude, just direct and of course if there is communication barriers it's challenging, but I've traveled enough to forgive their English is better than any other language I speak, so I looked past that. She was confident in her measurements on my slacks, it took maybe 15 seconds, and I was out in less than 5 minutes. I did opt for the same day service and it was around $15. I've paid more for less when it comes to my clothing that's custom made or ordered. I went back later in the afternoon and it was ready to go. She smiled and was more friendly than anyone on here lead me to believe. I'll be back with more alterations or clothing needs for sure. I wouldn't hold too much weight on other reviews, give this place a try...not only that but there are limited options in the area, so why stress out and drive 5+ miles when this place fits the bill? read more

Alterations of two of my son's suits. I was not worried, based on prior reviews. But, two prior tailors haven't done very good work. So, tried and was happy with results. She isn't talkative or super friendly, but not rude. Results weee excellent, and I've taken more clothes to be altered. Recommend. read more

Wish I had read the reviews first. This placed ruined 3 brand new dresses. They have NO idea what they are doing. One dress was huge and now I can't even put on past my knees. The other dress they only altered the inside slip not the outside and the third dress they altered in an area that didn't need it and did not do the area that needed it. I wish there was a better alterations place in this area. I've been here twice and both times have been disappointed with the work. I don't mind paying for good quality work, but that just doesn't seem to happen here. I recently was reluctant to bring a pair of slacks here to get hemmed since the first pair I brought here (2 months earlier) came back one leg longer than the other. I decided to give them another shot. I took a pair of work pants in to have hemmed. The lady asked me to try it on and pinned the pants herself. She asked what shoes I was going to wear with these pants and I told her probably the ones I currently have on. Everything was going as expected up to this point. After all the details were noted, she wrote me a receipt. To my surprise, it was over $16. Then she told me it would take 10 days for the work. Ten days to shorten a pair of pants that would take 5 mins to do on a commercial sewing machine. I said, "Wow, 10 days really?" The lady (maybe the owner) said she was really busy and I could take my business somewhere else if I needed them quicker. Long story short, I took the pants elsewhere...8 miles down the street. I would like to speak to the owner. The lady there is very rude! She just tells you yes. When i make sure she understands after pretty much rushing me out of the store she charges me. My wife picks up my pants and they are not done the way i wanted them with original hem. My wife tells her and she pretty much tells us were wrong. When i specifically asked how i wanted my pants done. These were 200.00-250.00 pants and i had 2 of them not the way i wanted them. And she said that is not how i asked for them. So this place is actually called Minas. Didn't find a review because of that. So I noticed on the front window it said same day alterations. I needed it done 2 days later. Not same day. This woman is so rude. Right when I got in I said I needed my dresses hemmed and she said go put it on. I did and she pinned it then said take off. When I went to check out she said when you need it. I said two days from now. She looked at me like I was crazy. I was like doesn't your sign say same day. If you promote that are you suppose to be shocked when someone gives you two days. She tried explain she was busy and I was like ok can you do this or do I need to go somewhere else. She no it's fine. She charged me $81 to hem a dress!! $81. My mom has done it in an afternoon and wouldn't dare charge someone that much. Unfortunately she was busy and couldn't help me. I believe she should have told me the price before she wasted my time. She should have asked me when I needed it before she wasted my time. I paid and she said she would call me when it's ready. No call two days later. I called her she said it was ready. Rude lady! This place is named Mina's on the door. I stopped in to check on getting some pants altered. The lady rudely said " what kind of pants, there are all kinds of pants". I responded they were dress pants. She acted like I was annoying her. I said how much and she said $29. I said for one pair of pants?!?! I will not be going back to this rude lady. The lady Mina who works there is so so nice. She was so helpful and sweet. I brought in a pair of pants that I paid $40 for that needed hemming and another pair that needed a patch. The patch was $10. (I think $10 is a bit too much for a patch the size of a quarter). The TOTAL for the hemming on the other pants was going to be $54. That's more than the pants. These are not regular pants. They are extra thick pants and were going to take ALOT of work. I appreciate Mina having the owner check it out BEFORE having me pay. It says right there, all work is pre-paid. I would have been angry if I left my credit card and paid more for the hem work than the pants. I didn't think their prices were cheap, but they werent' super expensive either. If I'm in San Antonio and need alterations done, I would absolutey go back. The owner is an expert!!! She has always does beautiful work for us and I believe you couldn't find anyone better than these ladies. I went in to get my strapless swimsuit taken in around the waist. This is pretty simple to do because all that needed to be done was some fabric cut away and the hook resewn on. They wanted to charge me $28 which I thought was high. I then asked if they could have it done in two days and that I would even pay extra. The lady told me there was no way this could be done. Mind you the door says that same day alterations are available. I then left and went to Snips tailor further down Bandera road and the lady said it would only be $8 for the alterations, and $12 to have it done the next day. I would not recommend Nina's alterations to anyone. read more
