When I asked the person how the alteration of my shirt was to be done (sleeve length shortened either from the wrist or shoulder), she questioned as to whether I was going to do the alteration or was she, and if it be her, then I shouldn't be concerned about how she decides to do it. I am so glad I found Monica's Alterations! Last week I got in the mail a dress that I order for a maternity photo shoot and to my surprise the dress was HUGE! My photo shoot was just in 6 days and needed someone to help me fix the dress ASAP. With this very short turnaround, I knew my usual seamstress was going to say no, so decided to give Monica's Alterations a try. Monica was very nice and even though she was not too happy with the timeframe, she agreed to have it ready in 4 days. Long story short, the dress came out perfect and she did an amazing job! Even though it cost me a little more because of the short turnaround, I thought her prices were super competitive compared to other places. Like other reviewers stated, the owner was not very friendly. Just know up front that she requires payment before the work is done and only accepts cash. I had a pair of mens suit pants that I needed to have let out, so nothing major. I got the pants back when promised and they were done correctly-I knew from other reviews to check the work before I left. I have no real complaints about the work done. The suit pants came back in a cheap grocery store bag and not pressed, so they still have to go to the dry cleaners for pressing. Probably would look elsewhere next time. If you are looking for no frills, simple alterations, this place might be for you. I was low on time and needed someplace close to home and quick. read more

Horrible. I'm right outside of this horrible establishment. The lady is extremely rude. I came in with a dress & she asked me when do I need it I said by the next day. I said in a very nice manner if she could be careful with the material of the dress as it is very delicate & the lady with the black glasses and short hair I assume that's Monica gave me back my dress & told me to take it somewhere else. She got super offended that I asked her if she could be careful with my dress. She literally told me to leave. This is a bad establishment. I've been a south sider for 30 years and I have never came into this establishment until today until I needed help & wow it's sad to see that this south side establishment is so rude. I do not recommend this place to anyone. She is extremely rude. I do not even take the time to make reviews unless I feel very passionate about it & boy was I treated so ugly when I stepped into this place. Took some pants that needed hemming. They were done on time and very professional. Very reasonably priced as well.

Very rude owner. She seems very unhappy and miserable. I told her my scrubs were still too long after SHE measured me the day I took them in. When I went to pick them up I tried them on and told her they still drag on the ground. She said she would have to charge me another $10. When I TRIED to explain to her bcs she doesnt understand English so we'll. She got upset and rude with me and wanted $10 plus tax upfront to redo my hem. I took my scrubs and left. They do excellent work and the prices are very reasonable. I take all of my jeans and work scrubs here to raise the hem. I have short girl problems so finding jeans/pants that are the perfect length are a rarity for me. I have been coming here to provide a solution to my short girl problems for about two years. Just to give you an idea on their prices, I only pay $7.50 each to have my jeans hemmed. I don't have any complaints! They always do awesome work and it doesn't take long at all! If you need something done on a rush order, they are willing to work with you. Luckily, I have not needed it to have any work done in a rush. I'm not sure if it costs extra for that. Monica (the seamstress) speaks mostly Spanish but she does have a bilingual assistant that is there a good majority of the time. If your Spanish isn't strong, I would suggest doing a quick Google search on how to say "hem" or "take in" or "take out" or whatever it is that you need done in Spanish translation to make sure that you are communicating your needs properly. read more

I had went in for the "fast service" and right away was rude because I wasn't wearing a mask but I went to go get one and she was wearing hers under her nose so why does matter. And then she was very rude very rude and it was a little bit over priced cost half of my item. read more

I needed to have a pair of pants hemmed and the zipper replaced on another. The rushed the order and had it done for me in 24 hours! They did not even charge me for the rush. Reasonable prices too! They will get all of my alteration work. read more

These ladies are fast and the quality of work is amazing. I regularly have them alter my clothing. I've had a bathing suit, dresses, coats, etc done and all came out perfect. A couple of the ladies mostly speak Spanish but they will ask many questions to make sure they understand what you want. Highly recommend read more

So I tried this business again, I should not have. Nothing has changed. The customer service I received was once again horrible. The dress I took to alter was ruined. I expressed the fact that I was not satisfied and that the alteration looked horrible. The owner came out from the back, like a bat out of hell! She said "it looks fine to me", and took my money. She did not want to hear anything I had to say and pretty much wrote me off as if I was the one that was seeing things and or crazy. I felt horrible and embarrassed since there was another customer in there. She really needs to be reported and have that business closed if she is not willing to be nice and respectful. She always looks irritated and is ALWAYS in a horrible mood. She needs to learn customer service etiquette. If you like to be treated like dirt, this is the perfect place to go. read more

I was very dissatisfied with the work they did for me. They sewed a dress that was a half moon bottom so it had a lining, I asked them to cut it and they did but then it was short on the sides and longer even in front and back. I asked them to fix it and they did now the slip of the dress shows and it's a mess they did a terrible job and they blamed me for asking them to cut it when they are "supposed to be professionals" at sewing.
