I ordered a vodka-based BLUE martini, and my wife ordered the prickly pear martini. Both were excellent. We started with the PRIME Sushi roll, which was very good. We ordered our entrees, which included the Kansas City strip, filet mignon, maple roasted brussels sprouts with bacon, and death by butter mashed potatoes. Everything was prepared well and was very sumptuous. We took a LOT home so we could share a spiced orange cheesecake, which was excellent. I have included photos of everything for your perusal. My diet has changed in the last ten years since going plant based and eliminating animal products. I saw a social media post from Mill's about their new vegan offerings and booked a dinner resy. These folks made our meal memorable: Marcus (our gracious host), Katie (our friendly server), the bartender (I didn't get her name), and the chef who worked hard to craft vegan dishes. Our favorite drink for a night out is a dirty martini extra dirty. The martinis here are NEVER cold enough. They are legit luke warm. So we have learned to ask for them extra shaken here. Not only were our martinis still not cold, but they were clear aka not dirty. We sent them back based on the color and our server brought the same martinis back with a side of olive juice. After trying them with the extra juice they had a dirty water taste to them, almost like the ice used to shake them was dirty, which is ironic considering they were barely cold. I hate to do this but we sent them back again and let the server know they simply didn't taste good and also were not cold enough. He ended up going back and making them himself and they were much better but STILL. It shouldn't be this difficult for a bartender to make a very standard drink. The food unfortunately was also very mid. The table behind us actually sent their food back twice as well and the manager had to come over. I left hoarse. It was more like a club than a tavern the night we visited. Heads up--the ladies room is a single room, with no separate mirror/make up space. There were a lot of women who wanted to touch up or actually use the facilities the night we visited. Prepare for a line. We ultimately left and had a better social experience at the bar right across the street. I would definitely return to The Congress Tavern for lunch... but I wouldn't go back on a Saturday night.
