I have been taking yoga and the pilates reformer classes at MBZ for years, and though my poses might not be great I can honestly say that I probably would not be walking or working today without this studio. MBZ has seen me through good days and injuries. The instructors provide support and assist you be showing you modifications when you need them. Each instructor has their own choreography so you and pick and choose based on what your body needs and your schedule. Some of my friends have a hard time sleeping or stressed from work. I have found that since I started taking yoga, those problems have disappeared and it is the reason I keep coming back. In addition to their classes I also take advantage of their great massages, which are always wonderful (especially a day or two before I catch a flight). I strongly recommend this studio for anyone whether you are new to yoga or already practicing yoga; if you have trouble with your balance, sleeping, or want to improve your golf game. I was only in the area for a couple of months and came across MBZ in a Google search after I finished a 20 class pack at another studio. I purchased the 30 days for $30 and it was worth every penny! I became addicted to yoga, pilates, bootcamp, and kickboxing. All the instructors are amazing and the studio has a great ambience. The staff/instructors are absolutely a pleasure to be around-they're friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and overall just an amazing group of people. Even though I was only there a month, I felt like I was part of the MBZ family. It's been a little less than 2 weeks since I left CA and I am having MBZ withdrawals! I miss this place so much I wish I could have brought it with me. I've only been going here for a week, but I have to say I love this studio. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, and the instructors really know what they're doing. Linea's mat pilates classes are intense but so fun, and she really reiterates the fact that everyone's range of movement is different, and that we should do what feels comfortable in challenging your own body. I've worked with people that made me go outside of that comfortable range of movement which caused me to complain more than anything Lyn's yoga classes really push you! I enjoy her classes. Her candlelit yoga class was my first yoga class aside from linea's mat pilates. She gave me some attention because I apparently looked like a newbie, and she would come and correct my poses. Her gentle yoga class is great too! I haven't tried Rhonda's body sculpting classes, but I will definitely try sometime next week. I also haven't tried the circuit training, but I've heard they're great. Atmosphere is wonderful, and so is the ambiance. The people that attend the classes are really friendly as well! If you're a student, they do have a student discount, which is so worth it! Take advantage of it while you can! They all have a 30 days for $30 for people that are totally new to mind body zone, so if you want to try it out, take the newbie package because you get total access to all classes! After the pandemic hit Linea pivoted to zoom classes and I truly benefitted by having a caring and consistent support to keep me healthy. I am a regular now. Linea has great set of instructors and they get to know their clients well. Linea has built a great community and I truly enjoy participating in diverse variety of classes. I love this place! I've been going here since March of this year. Linea: I take her reformer class and she's AMAZING! Its a tough workout, but you get amazing results. I signed up 3 months before I got married and she got my arms super sculpted for my strapless dress. I have some carpal tunnel and running related issues, so Linea and the other instructors are really great about giving modifications and suggesting exercises to help in the healing process. read more

I've only been here for a week and I already love the place! I love that the classes are small, it gives you a more personalized experience and instructors actually have the chance to correct you on your form if need be (which you can't really get from larger classes elsewhere). And they give modifications for almost every exercise for those of you who are just starting to work out after years of being lazy like me :) I was a little disappointed that candlelit yoga wasn't really candlelit, but that's not their fault since the room has skylights and it doesn't get dark until much later these days. I'll probably try the class again in the fall after daylight savings. I also recently attended the pilates class and stayed for the half hour circuit class afterwards... Definitely not a good idea. I could not even walk the next day! But I'm looking forward to going back and whipping my butt back into shape. A little more expensive than a regular gym, but well worth the money! read more

I fell in love with the environment and the yoga practice after joining the studio with the new trial program ($30 for 30 days). Mind Body Zone offers a variety of mat classes that suits different preferences which makes it fun and interesting. There are enough classes to accommodate for a busy working schedule like - early morning weekends/late evenings. They make it easy by offering most of the equipment that you would need for the class. I usually come with just my yoga mat and am good to go! The instructors encourage you to challenge yourself and do what feels good for your body. I've been going here for almost 3 years now. I cannot ever imagine leaving! Unlike some of the larger gyms that offer pilates or yoga classes, the trainers here are incredibly experienced, provide individual attention to all participants, and do an amazing job at making every person feel relaxed and welcome. They have all become wonderful friends! The classes range in size and difficulty...there is definitely something for everyone. I've tried most of the yoga classes, pilates mat, pilates ball, pilates reformer and their 30-minute circuit classes. I have my favorites, but there has never been a class I didn't enjoy (well maybe one, but it just wasn't my cup of tea). I'm one of those "high-stress" people, but after Lynn's or Linea's yoga classes, I am feeling completely relaxed................ And what a difference to my body! A lot of it is because of the pilates reformer, but even the yoga and pilates mat classes make a dramatic difference to muscle tone, flexibility and all that good stuff. I'm still a firm believer in needing some alternate cardio workouts, but it definitely improves the overall body shape. This is my home away from home. The studio is filled with good friends, laughter, and --- most importantly --- amazing yoga and pilates classes. read more

I write this review with disappointment because it is a beautiful studio. I always loved coming here to practice yoga. Last night, that changed. My friends are I arrived at 7:30 to take the class. (They had tried to call to leave a message earlier because you have to either call or book online to secure a spot. The phone was going to voicemail only.) We walk through the door and the owner is sitting there with this massive attitude. She goes sssshhh!! really loudly like a rabid librarian. My friend goes up to talk to her about joining the class and she nastily replied what is your last name? He tells her and she spits at him you are not on the list, Next! And he calmly and politely tells her that he had called and left a message earlier. She says that we cannot register for the class on the same day. Then she says she will do it for us, just this once. Which is odd since I have done so in the past with no problems. I have even called 30 minutes in advance and been accepted into class. Anyway. So my other friend (who has never been to a yoga class before) walks up to her and the owner asked her name. She gave it and said something which made the owner gp completely sideways for really no reason at all. My friend said something pretty rude things back to her. The owner Linae was totally out of line from the beginning, so she had it coming. I have seen her get an attitude before with people. She never did that to me, she could probably smell bitch on me and figured not a good idea to go there. I regret that I will never attend a class here again and this saddens me because I was planning to take the yoga teacher training here. Not now, not after witnessing what an unprofessional and irresponsible business owner Linae McPherson is. This place can be a great place, without her. Maybe you should open a martial arts studio or perhaps a BDSM studio so you can get rid of some of that frustration and anger. Being an owner of a spa and yoga studio does not fit you. read more

I am very pleased with MBZ. I thought I would just go in for the $30 for 30 day intro and bounce to another studio with another promo. I am in my 2nd month and enjoy it very much( i also got attached) The atmosphere is very inviting and the instructors are understanding of any injuries you may have. And unlike other instructors that are drilling away at you, the instructors at MBZ are very nice about giving you a break. They want you to be as comfortable as possible. I've taken most of the classes except for yoga ( which i will eventually ). Mat Pilates w/ Linea: Challenging but worthwhile. I feel like you're on your back a lot working your core with slow and painful exercises. (you'll feel great afterwards though ) Circuits w/ Linea: Even more challenging than the pilates because everything is fast paced. Each exercise is meant to last for 1 minute. The class is 30 minutes long, So this leaves you with about 16 exercises. 16 burning exercises one after the other. It's always a surprise in her class, you never know what exercise you'll be doing next. The last couple of exercises are even harder when Linea tells you to plant your feet on the discs (fitness gliders) and has you do mountain climbers and other ab exercises. Body Sculpting w/ Rhonda: It's a nice workout that I feel works out your entire body. It gives you that "tightening" feel while you work out. Rhonda makes you do these arm circles that last for days. Days i tell you. I never thought arm circles would be tiring, but they burn afterwards. Not to mention, the leg circles she'll have you do later on in the hour. Circuits w/ Rhonda: The circuit class with rhonda takes place in the reformer room, which is a nice transition from Linea's class because we get to use the machines and get a nice intro or feel to reformer pilates (i think). The exercises in Rhonda's circuit class are also more consistent because it takes place in the reformer room so all the reformers are set up a certain way. In general I think Rhonda's classes are more consistent than Lineas. If you like knowing what you'll be getting into then Rhonda's classes are great. If you like the surprises and the anticipation of knowing whether you'll be using discs or not, Lineas classes is the way to go. I think LIneas classes are more challenging though. Piloxing w/ Nick : Get ready to hop like a freakin bunny. It's a lot cardio, theres some weights involved, but i think the weight training you do with Rhonda's body sculpting is just a tad harder. The concept of this class is kickboxing mixed with pilates. Bootcamp w/ Nick: Only been to one session. It's not as bad as the name implies. I think Lineas circuit class is still harder (maybe because my abs are the weakest part of my body) In general the challenges in this class will depend on your strengths. If you tend to work out your abs more in the gym than your arms and legs, you may not have such a tough time with pilates. But you may have it harder in body sculpting. Needless to say it's a great place to get a workout. Just do the 30 for 30 and check it out for yourself. :) read more

I've been dealing with a bulging disc for almost a year now. Despite suggestions from my doctor and friends to try yoga and Pilates I never went. My pain was getting worse and I was desperate. I finally got the courage to try Pilates at MBZ with Linea. 2 months in and I no longer have back pain! Linea is very attentive and is a great instructor. The studio is one of the cleanest and well organized facility I've ever been to. It's not a snobby studio either. I like that. Everyone is very nice, considerate and professional. The studio is large, I always have room. I look forward to going and I'm so happy that I'm no longer in pain. It's an absolute miracle! Hopefully they can introduce nutrition as a class. The teachers at MBZ are kind, fun, knowledgeable, helpful, and put together great sequences. I've been taking classes with one of the teachers for the last 10+ years and working with her has really grown my practice. When I was ready to consider yoga teacher training, this was the first place I looked. I did a decent amount of research into RYT-200 programs all over the bay area and kept coming back to this one. One of the main reasons for me was the flexibility of the program (one weekend a month) which was the only way I was able to make it work with a full time corporate job and having a family. The teacher training program fully prepared me to teach. We learned about anatomy, the 8 limbs of yoga (not just the poses), and really gained a holistic view of yoga which allowed me to develop my own style of teaching (How much Sanskrit do I want to use? Do I want to incorporate chanting / meditation / breathwork? Do I want to focus mostly on the poses and teach a more "corporate" friendly style? Etc). Each weekend included at least one practice sequence that put that week's learning and discussions into experience. We learned to work with injuries by working with our own and our classmates' injuries, we learned to do adjustments by practicing on each other, and we learned to put together sequences by working in groups and then teaching those sequences to our classmates. There were required yoga classes (free at the studio for the duration of the teacher training) and required personal practice hours and a teaching practicum to make sure we had lots of experience observing and assisting under experienced teachers in order to learn from them. Being successful in this program requires commitment and work. (And it really helps to have an existing yoga practice.) There are class discussions, essays to write, and even a final exam. But if you put in the time and effort, you will finish with the knowledge and the experience to teach. It was a very positive experience for me. Like anything else, you get back what you put into it. read more

after finishing MBZ's $30 for 30, i have nothing but praises to sing about this place!! -ambiance: the beautiful natural lighting the super high ceilings sets a very tranquil, relaxing, aura -instructors: very knowledgeable about their specialty. my favorite was nick (probably because his pilloxing class was my favorite) but all the instructors were equally amazing! -classes/variety: they have everything from pilates, to yoga, to circuit, kickboxing, and a few classes what meshed a few of these practices together! Nick's cardio kickboxing/pilates class was my favorite serendipity about this place! a combination of stretches and core exercises with upbeat cardio kickboxing combos! not to mention the beyond excellent music selection! *BE FOREWARNED IF YOU AREN'T AN EXPERIENCED YOGI, DO NOT BE A HERO AND TRY THEIR "POWER YOGA" CLASS JUST FOR FUN.. hahahhaha me and my bff Joanne Astorga, were in for quite (hilarious and equally embarrassing) treat! I came to Mind Body Zone pretty much new to yoga. I had taken some classes in the past at various places, but nothing serious. This studio was the perfect place for me to begin my new commitment to practicing yoga. I loved the $30 for 30 days deal for new members, and it didn't even take 30 days to become addicted. Over the course of that month, I tried to take as many different classes as possible so I could see which teachers' styles I liked the most (probably the best thing about this studio is that there is literally a different teacher for nearly ever session). Experiencing so many different styles was really beneficial because it taught me the same basic concepts of yoga from many different perspectives, which helps me understand my practice more thoroughly. There are also different challenges with each class, but no matter how challenging the practice is, the teachers live by the belief that the individual should always listen to their body and not attempt to go past their limits. One class at a time! The pricing is really really great here. Many studios I've looked up throughout Fremont charge $100 or more for all adult members, but since I am a student, I am able to pay a $50 monthly fee. That's an amazing deal! For non-student members, the price is I believe $90, which is still a great price for the amazing quality of the classes. I definitely recommend this studio to everyone interested in practicing yoga in Fremont, and I'm really going to miss it while I'm away at college! read more

I absolutely love this studio and its instructors. I have been going here for about 2 years now and during this time I have had a few injuries making it difficult to do everything that is asked of me during class. Luckily instructor Linea Mcpherson modifies class for me so I can attend. She has been doing this for me for over the past year. We have even had classes where she is modifying 7 different workouts for different injuries. She cares about all of her students and takes pride in making sure we are getting a good workout no matter our restrictions. I would recommend this studio for anyone that wants to start Pilates or yoga. read more

I started my yoga journey at Mind Body Zone. It started with the 30 day $30 promo and continued on with the teacher training program! I love that there's a variety of different classes: boot camp, candlelit yoga, power yoga, etc. I tried almost every class and the best yoga instructor I highly recommend is Lynn and Amanda. They both you with modification and if you want to make it tougher.. variations. The flow from one asana to another is just the right speed. One thing I would recommend for this yoga studio is to have more weekday 7:30pm classes or weekend classes. Considering that I work in San Francisco on weekdays and am always hitting traffic with 6:15pm classes. read more

I love this studio. Unfortunately my schedule does not permit me to attend a lot of classes but I am so glad that the studio has one on Sundays at 5:30 pm with an outstanding instructor Aarti Patil. Aarti is a fabulous instructor giving individual attention to her students. She blends in an initial breathing sequence with following Asana practice. She offers modification to people with stiff joints like me. This is a class that I hate to miss and I hope MBZ continues to offer this class at this time with Aarti. read more

I really love this place and will try to come back for drop-in classes whenever I'm in Fremont again. In April I purchased the new member special, $30 for 30 days, and really took advantage of it. I took like 4-5 classes a week so I got to try pilates, hatha and vinyasa yoga, and body sculpt. All the classes have been pretty challenging and the studio can get full, but I've never had a problem with finding a spot. I really like all of the instructors here and always feel like I get a good workout. I think Linea is the toughest instructor--her pilates and yoga classes always have me sweating bricks (is that even a phrase?). Now that I'm not in Fremont anymore I really miss this place, but I try to do a drop-in class once in a while when I'm back. The prices are REALLY reasonable, especially since I've tried some yoga/pilates studios in San Francisco. I would recommend this studio to everyone. read more

Mind Body Zone is a beautiful studio! The environment is so calming and and inviting. This is actually the very first studio I went to when I first moved to the Bay Area. I'm not able to come as often as I would like since I live on the other side of Fremont but I definitely try to drop in when ever I'm in the area and cam make a class. The offer a bunch of other classes other than yoga so be sure to check out their other classes with the new student trial. They have pilates reformer machines, a personal training room, and a massage room. The studio is very clean and they have really great equipment! It's one of the only studios I've been to that has cork blocks for students to use. read more

Finally a nice Yoga Studio in Fremont! I love the ambiance of this place and it definitely beats gym yoga classes. I only took the mat classes and am trying to convince myself to splurge into the reformer classes. The mat classes I have taken: Yoga and Piloxing were good. I like how there are plenty of equipment available and everything is very organized. A friend introduced me to this place and her friends all have done the reformer classes with amazing results. I haven't been back to this studio for a while..but my body is aching for some yoga..so I am probably going to come back soon and also enroll in the reformer courses. I signed up for the trial package $30 which I think it's reasonable price since I planned to go everyday while I'm visiting for a week. I knew this studio because I love one of the teachers called Audrey. I tended to attend her class solely but was open to try other teachers as well upon my visit. Today, I had experienced the worst instructor in my yoga journey. I can't believe this instructor would say something like this at the beginning of the class. she clearly has some ego issue. I was very uncomfortable after hearing that and I felt like I was being targeted. Here's the exact words she said," For those of you who likes to do your own thing, please don't! Respect other ppl because u r confusing them." Yoga is a personal practice and in a multi level class, as a yoga teacher, you should observe and be mindful and respectful of your students' practice. Instead of saying something so negative in the beginning of the class. You should mention that "this is an all level yoga class, listen to your body and tune in with your breath. If you know a deeper expression of the pose or if your body tells u to back off and take it easy, feel free to do that, as u know your body best." I always say that in my yoga class when I teach. I also want to mention that if you were going to assist your student, please be mindful and not be rough. I could feel her energy as she touched me today and she was angry and frustrated at the same time because I didn't do what she told me to. I know my body and I know what part of my body is stretching in that pose. I feel very emotional and frustrated during and after that class. I really think that she shouldn't be a yoga teacher! Yoga supposed to bring healing to your mind and body. If you have an issue of having a more advanced student in your class becoz you feel intimidated or that u feel like someone is not following exactly what you tell them to. You shouldn't force it. Yoga is also very spiritual, be mindful of the words u say to the class, set the tone right from the start. This is a nice and clean studio but I only like Audrey and Don classes as they give you room and space and respect everyone's practice. I will never ever go to Linea's yoga class. It's just not my style! I prefer my yoga practice to gaze inward and find inner peace rather than feeling like I'm in a boot Camp! Very rigid and competitive!!! Linea is an amazing reformer, Pilates and Yoga instructor. She is very knowledgeable and inspiring. When I was training to compete in ballroom dancing she helped me to slim down and build muscle without bulking up. That was very important to me as a dancer. While rehearsing for a performance I sustained a serious back injury and could not walk, sit or breath without immense pain. The physical therapist told me that I might be able to dance again. I was devastated. I contacted Linea to see if I can still participate in her classes. She said Yes! She was able to modify all of the exercises for me specific to my back injury. With the help of Linea and the other amazing instructors at Mind Body Zone I was able to dance again. I recovered from my injury quicker and at a level not expected by physical therapist. He was a bit shocked. This studio is clean, calming and nice. The instructors are well-versed in what they're teaching which is a huge plus for me. Also, everyone is friendly and respectful. This is the only place I would go to for Yoga, Pilates or Reformers. read more

I started with the 30 days for $ 30 deal, like most people. And then I just couldn't stop. I take Rhonda's body sculpting classes 3 times/week, and that keeps me sore pretty much every day... Sore, proud of myself and really happy to see the changes in my body. Her classes are challenging but gentle, and very comfortable. Teenagers, soccer moms, even grandmas attend. You can take the class, doesn't matter where you are at. There are always variations according to how much you want to push yourself, and Rhonda always reminds us of that. Not worth the money! False advertisement. Trust me do your homework and go elsewhere if you're training. If you are interested in learning mainly the chants, Sanskrit, and eastern focus of yoga take a training or class here. If not I'd do your research. You will definitely NOT be learning to teach. Teaching takes practice--Actual practice teaching takes place ONCE at end of sessions. Emphasis is solely on the ancient history of yoga. Actual practice was limited. Space was limited, there were up to 30 people, some favored. The facilitator was completely elsewhere, cold and unapproachable I would not do any business with Lynn, under any circumstance-why? when there's sooooo much better. Class size ratio and system is makes it nearly impossible to complete successfully. . and material was presented like the studio couldn't care less who was running it. If you do choose this training expect to learn Sanskrit (not necessary and over emphasized), The 8 limbs of yoga, one blip re pregnancy, anatomy of the spine and joints, most common injuries knee, wrists, types of yoga with explanation, sequencing a class THIS I would focus on. No one will tell you but this is what you will need to teach, and it takes more than one visit per month on the subject. I would not by ANY of the books as you really won't need them. The material is all presented in a haphazard way. The only way to finally complete the program is to teach/mentor at same studio (for free), definitely not the place for me. Not to mention the studio is dis-jointed--in that there are columns in the room which make it lack a sense of togetherness. There are absolutely no mirrors so you will never see yourself, which if you can't see well also don't take training, the room is very poorly lit. Hindsight is 20/20 Life is always a learning lesson, I learned a lesson, that is really look into where, what they teach, who will actually be teaching you etc. Also look at the space and consider, this space is literally like a yard sale in front lobby. When too many people it is crowded. There's another crowded room with pilates machines. Literally you can only walk down the center of the room. There's a tiny room that's a large junk drawer. There is only 1 massage room. It shares a wall with the lobby and a hall with the studio, bathroom etc. Needless to say a massage with a bunch of noise sucks. Many important things to learn, unfortunately presented by a very unfriendly teacher Cheng 2) I come away with this. I want to somehow get it done to get my money's worth, sadly this is not the feeling I'd wanted when I signed up. Soooo beyond disappointed. Yoga is personal practice. It is good to understand it's origins and philosophies, but it is not necessary to learn to speak in Sanskrit. many of the most important things needed are not taught her. Period.
