Cult burger is a great little walk up spot in West Lake Tahoe, burgers are flat-top cooked and tend toward the classic variety. I had the El Reno which was a load of griddled onions and cheese. These are not massive burgers but they are not dainty. They are good sized and pretty messy - right on target IMO. Fries are solid, nicely cut, sized and properly fired with good salt. The day I stopped in the walk-up window was being staffed by the owner who was friendly, helpful, and really kind to my daughter. Oh boy, was I blown away by the burgers here. I got introduced to Cult Burger when they came down to Reno for an event, and I certainly hope to see them down in town in the future. But if you can, definitely hit up their location in Tahoma, as this is one of the best place I've eaten in the whole Tahoe area. They're in this quaint little shopping center. Parking is relatively easy, though the actual number of spaces is rather small. Nothing too fancy, just order at the outside window, and either take your order to go, or sit at one of their indoor counter spaces or outdoor patio seats. (Which, if it's nice weather, why would you NOT!?) The menu is nice and simple. A few renditions of burgers, some additional toppings, one or two sides, and beverages. I thought the fries were just kind of alright, and the milkshakes did look tasty, but wow, the burgers are really where it's at. I ordered the El Reno, a very cheesy burger with charred onions, and it was extremely delicious, perfectly cooked, and pretty sizeable. Takes a lot to bowl me over with a burger, but they certainly did it. Prices for the burgers were kinda up there. I know, I know; these are like real quality burgers and in Tahoe during tourist season, so be prepared. My burger was $18, and keep in mind that does not include fries or a drink, as you need to order those separately. Service here was also pretty darn friendly and fast for me, too. So yeah, I highly recommend checking them out, especially after a good morning's hike or swim. Great to see a spot like this on west shore. read more

The service was excellent, and all the employees were terrific and friendly. My boyfriend ordered the Long Horn, and I had the Tahoma burger; both were delicious! We finished our burgers and were satisfied; the cult sauce on the burgers made them stand out. My son had the Buckaroo burger, which is a kids' cheeseburger. Ok. It's Tahoe and high season so be prepared to wait. These guys are hard workers! Wow! Short staffed and still remaining positive. Had to turn away customers as they were closing soon. Located on the 50, in Tahoma, is maybe the BEST burger place I've ever had, Cult Burger. Once I read the owner was a James Beard award finalist, I was there, even coming from Stateline and driving 40 mins. The little shopping center has plenty of parking. When you go up the stairs, they have a menu and you order outside. The seating is stools and a counter facing the parking lot, pure mountain joint vibes! I ordered the Lobo (substitute impossible patty), Cowboy Fries and Vanilla Milkshake. When eating the Lobo, I had to look at my wife's burger multiple times to make sure it wasn't meat. I was shocked. The seasoning and char of the impossible patty, made me think it was meat. The charred onions were seasoned and charred to onion, buttery, meaty, sweetness. The bun was brioche and was super soft and fluffy, yet was better tasting than a lot of brioches I've had. The thick amount of aged white cheddar was melted beyond belief, Heaven! Cult Sauce is like a tangier, spicier, special sauce,......sooooo much better. It was the best sauce I've had at a burger place. The Cowboy Fries are hand cut, crunchy outside, soft inside, just perfect. The salty/spices seasoning on them was great, as well. The milkshake was REAL Vanilla ICE CREAM. They dont even have a freezer. Staff is super friendly and there is a little seating area for maybe about 8 people inside. There is outdoor seating as well but it was a bit cold when we went. This burger joint was most highly rated in the area, and though we weren't in the mood for burgers gave it a try. It's more like a food truck in a store front than a restaurant. Only a few menu items and no indoor seating. We tried three of the different burgers from the basic to all the fixings and they were all delicious. The hand cut fries also very good.
