    Great coffee!

We haven't eaten here in years. We recently relocated to the area and have been passing by and sayn to myself that I need to get in there and see if it's still good. Well this week we have made two visits. I can honestly say it is amazing. I didn't realize it had been 7 years ago that we were here. It hasn't changed from what I can tell. Still has the patio seating and bathrooms are outside the building. The inside isn't anything special. But it's clean and the service is great. The people are friendly. So far I have tried the chorizo scramble breakfast with rice and beans and this morning I had the Mountain Pancakes. It comes with two eggs and sausage and bacon. The pancakes were legit. We will definitely be regulars here. Kudos to the staff for great food and service.

This place is a local favorite of ours in Gardnerville, NV. Not fancy by any stretch, but good food and good service. The inside has around 10-12 tables and in the summer months, they serve on the patio too. My wife ordered her favorite chicken fajita omelette, which we usually split along with an order of French toast, but I noticed they had shredded beef and machaca on the special menu today so immediately jumped on ordering their huevos rancheros adding shredded beef, side of sour cream and a side of freshly fried tortilla chips. The best breakfast I've had in months...!!! Maybe all year. It was so ridiculously delicious...! This will definitely be a future go-to menu item if they have shredded beef that day...! The only thing I'd add next time would be sliced avocado.

This is supposed to be avocado toast, use your imagination, I guess.

Well, it looks like they have really gone downhill. I ordered avocado toast, and this is what they gave me. Two pieces of bread, not toasted. One has a half of an avocado smeared on it. That's it. No seasoning, no vegetables, nothing. I thought it was a joke. So, we will not be going back. Our little valley lacks good restaurants, here's just another example of subpar food with subpar service.

Sunday morning motorcycle ride, fuel stop in the Minden / Gardnerville area. Let's find a breakfast spot also! 8:30 on a Sunday morning, was definitely busy but I was able to be seated no problem. After searching the menu I determined to get the special as it was not going to be such a huge breakfast sitting in my stomach for what would be another three hours on a motorcycle. Take a look! Was not disappointed at all and $20 out the door price including a generous tip!

We've driven past this place countless times, and finally decided to make a lunch stop. It's got the classic diner vibe and has an extensive menu featuring a variety of Mexican food options. I Opted for the Chilaquiles at $13.95 and my wife ordered the French Dip at $13.75. The food, in general, was enjoyable with no major complaints. However, the portion size left something to be desired - my plate consisted of about a dozen tortilla chips and a mere half-cup of beans, leaving me still hungry after the meal. The French dip, though decent, didn't boast any exceptional qualities. Overall, our experience was okay. In my view, there are better diners in the area. Given all the positive reviews, I would recommend checking this place out on your own and form your own opinion on how this place stacks up. Who knows, this may become your next favorite spot!

Love dining on the patio here. Service is nice and food is delicious ! They have music on Sundays playing on patio.

This is a weekend regular spot for us. I go practically every Sunday and eat outside on the patio and catch the live tunes from those 2 cool dudes! (don't know their band name). I can't believe I never left a review before?! I rotate between the chicken tostada salad which is healthy, tasty and filling! it comes with avocado and sour cream, 2 types of cheeses, shredded chicken etc. Or if i'm not feeling salad, I get the Belgian waffle (and add bananas and strawberries on top!) My husband always gets the Arnold French toast special (which includes 2 sausages, 2 bacon, hashbrowns and eggs.) It's a LOT of food and a great deal. We pretty much order the same thing every time. Usually when i go, I see many people drinking iced tea and it looks refreshing! This place has a slow charm, it's not a quick order and get out type of restaurant. They are short staffed and you can just enjoy the ambience esp the free music on Sundays and catch some sun. Our server is always really nice!

Good food and friendly service. We drove by here all the time and decided to give em a try for breakfast. We were able to get in and get a seat right away friendly ladies were on point with getting us our menu and drinks right away. We ordered omelets and they were full of goodies and nice and hot. Our server kept the coffee full and my hot water for tea. It was a really cold windy day but on nice days they have outside seating as well.

And we brought some Bay Area friends with us. We also came in mid-week to avoid any crowd potential. Our evening began at the bar with a round of Picon Punch, the official drink of the State of Nevada. I first thought that this was a drink that you only ordered once, but this small glass of goodness actually grew on us. After closing the bar bill and looking at all the branded merchandise, it was off to the main dining room. We chose the Basque Family Style side of the menu, which at the end of the evening resulted in number of take home containers. Our 4 choices were Basque Chicken, Fish, Lamb Shoulder, and Lamb Chops. Those came with Vegetable Soup, Salad, Beef Stew, Beans, French Fries, Bottle of Red Wine, Coffee, and Ice Cream. for the Table. These inclusive choices were priced just south of $40 and that's what the bill was at the end of the evening, as there were no extras needed. OK, the included wine was a little on the sweet side, but we didn't see the need to "upgrade" as we were too busy concentrating on the food. It was all good, especially the Soup and the French Fries. The only regret was not being here on the night they served Huckleberry Ice Cream, but our Vanilla or Pistachio Almond was good enough. JT Basque is family generation owned, and we certainly felt welcome and well taken care of. The rustic decor was also cool, as was the happy energy in the dining room. We promise to come back and not be strangers.

We knew it wasn't going to be crowded and the food will be fresh, but it was so much more than that. Overland is lucky to employ Tennessee, who might just be the best server in the Carson Valley. I grant you that we haven't been to every restaurant and we haven't had every server and so it could be hyperbole to try to tell you that he's the best, but we need to be sure to let you know that he is clearly in the top percentile of quality, local servers. Why you ask. He anticipated our every need, and so we always had water, always had coffee, and he cleared every single time he got near the table. His positive energy is infectious. Yes, I can hear you now, what about the food? My wife can, on occasion, high maintenance, and this was one of those mornings. She ordered the Eggs Benedict without the bottom bread plus one more whole extra Eggs Benedict, and Tennessee didn't flinch. I ordered the vegetarian omelette and I had side breakfast potatoes. All of it tasted great. I even tried the hollandaise sauce on my wife's eggs Benedict and it tasted fresh and tasty. So, I say give Tennessee a raise, and when you go to the Overland, hope that you get seated in his section because it will be an experience that you won't forget soon, and the food is very good. Somehow, this breakfast restaurant is flying under the radar on Saturdays and Sundays. They truly deserve to be packed as they have the formula for success, great service, good food, and a clean environment..

But instead, I asked for bacon on the side to give to my meat eating hubby. The server said it was already diced up- we said that was fine in a ramekin so he could put it on his bacon waffle. This is not what happened- it came out a fat drippy bacon strip stuck into my cheese of my omelette... hubby grabbed it off quickly. I was so grossed out by this- normally I would want to send it back- but got the vibe if I had the kitchen might have done something undesirable to my meal... and it wasn't worth the hassle Hubby ordered the chicken fried steak and a side bacon waffle- he made his own chicken and waffles. We don't even eat the Costco hotdog, except maybe once every five years. So, if memory serves, back when I was in college and hungry, I was eating these mustard dogs for $.29 each. They were simple; bun, mustard, and hotdog. For two dollars you were full. That is definitely not the case here. I got the Chicago dog and it came with mustard, hotdog, peppers, relish and a need for a napkin. This hotdog alone was nearly 5 dollars, but I thought it tasted really good. They had some value meals which I wasn't interested in, and a little bit of a lunch crowd. It was a nice day and so I took advantage of their outside seating and watched the world go by on Highway 395 for about five minutes. Will it be 40 years before I return?
