Went to Jerry's today. Had biscuits and gravy one egg and sausage. Also ordered a ham and cheese omelet, $30. Sausage and egg was good. Biscuits were old and dense. Omelet was good as well. But the smell, what ever they are using to cover up the old smell of the building or the bug spray was so potent. Perfumey no fresh air, we had to come home and take a shower and wash our clothes. Pungent like an old basement and trying to cover up bad smells. Won't be going back. We tried it once. read more

Rocio and family continue to run one of the best local breakfast spots in Gardnerville. We stopped in for a late breakfast this morning and ordered our favorites. I had the Huevos Rancheros "Ian Style" with extra red onion, cilantro, and avocado, eggs cooked medium, plus a side of freshly fried tortilla chips and sour cream. The kitchen nailed the eggs again...! Perfect every time! They know the order as "my usual" even when I mix it up a little. My wife had the strawberry and banana French toast with bacon and eggs over medium. Everything was excellent; we cleaned both plates. We started on the shaded and relaxing outdoor patio but moved inside after a poorly behaved dog became disruptive. Well-mannered dogs are fine; this one was not. The staff remained friendly and professional, and the food was still outstanding. Highly recommend Jerry's Grill for solid, consistent breakfast. We walked to Jerry's from our hotel on a Tuesday morning and arrive shortly after they opened. We were warmly greeted and invited to choose any booth we'd like. Our waters and a coffee arrived quickly. We are excited that they have a seniors plate with one egg, one bacon, one sausage, and one pancake. It is the perfect size! While the coffee was typical dinercoffee, our senior breakfast was delicious! The eggs were cooked perfectly, the sausage & bacon had great flavor and the pancakes were very nice! Since we have a long drive ahead, we ordered a club sandwich to go. Rosie package each half carefully in foil for our cooler. We haven't eaten here in years. We recently relocated to the area and have been passing by and sayn to myself that I need to get in there and see if it's still good. Well this week we have made two visits. I can honestly say it is amazing. I didn't realize it had been 7 years ago that we were here. It hasn't changed from what I can tell. Still has the patio seating and bathrooms are outside the building. The inside isn't anything special. But it's clean and the service is great. The people are friendly. So far I have tried the chorizo scramble breakfast with rice and beans and this morning I had the Mountain Pancakes. It comes with two eggs and sausage and bacon. The pancakes were legit. Well, it looks like they have really gone downhill. I ordered avocado toast, and this is what they gave me. Two pieces of bread, not toasted. One has a half of an avocado smeared on it. That's it. No seasoning, no vegetables, nothing. I thought it was a joke. So, we will not be going back. We've driven past this place countless times, and finally decided to make a lunch stop. It's got the classic diner vibe and has an extensive menu featuring a variety of Mexican food options. I Opted for the Chilaquiles at $13.95 and my wife ordered the French Dip at $13.75. The food, in general, was enjoyable with no major complaints. However, the portion size left something to be desired - my plate consisted of about a dozen tortilla chips and a mere half-cup of beans, leaving me still hungry after the meal. The French dip, though decent, didn't boast any exceptional qualities. Overall, our experience was okay. In my view, there are better diners in the area. This is a weekend regular spot for us. I go practically every Sunday and eat outside on the patio and catch the live tunes from those 2 cool dudes! (don't know their band name). I can't believe I never left a review before?! I rotate between the chicken tostada salad which is healthy, tasty and filling! it comes with avocado and sour cream, 2 types of cheeses, shredded chicken etc. Or if i'm not feeling salad, I get the Belgian waffle (and add bananas and strawberries on top!) My husband always gets the Arnold French toast special (which includes 2 sausages, 2 bacon, hashbrowns and eggs.) It's a LOT of food and a great deal. We pretty much order the same thing every time. Usually when i go, I see many people drinking iced tea and it looks refreshing! This place has a slow charm, it's not a quick order and get out type of restaurant. I don't know why the yelp listing says this location is permanently closed?! I just had breakfast here yesterday morning, and as usual, it was fabulous!! Once in a while, I consider ordering something else besides Arnold's French Toast - but yesterday, I had to go for my favorite: two eggs, two pieces of bacon, two sausage, country potatoes, AND a thick slice of French toast. The food is always cooked to order and of the highest quality! There isn't anything fancy here. It's just good, honest food, with great service and always with a smile. We were able to get in and get a seat right away friendly ladies were on point with getting us our menu and drinks right away. We ordered omelets and they were full of goodies and nice and hot. The waitress was friendly, the atmosphere was everything you would want in an old fashioned grill. The country fried steak and eggs were great. The corned beef hash, however, was, in a word, inedible....stringy...greasy...way too salty. The hash was a flat pancake of stringy, soggy goo. I don't get it....how could anyone plate something so horrible and call it food, especially at that price?!! My advice...try this place out. It's a gem. I had the chicken fried steak because the owner said they make all their sauces, gravy, salsas home made - not from a can. I thought the gravy was well seasoned, enough pepper without going over board. The steak with gravy was delicious. Hash browns were thin and crisp, the way they ought to be. No mushiness here. The Chilaquiles were in a red sauce or you could pick green sauce. The red was good, but the roasted green was even better. You can add chicken or steak for $2.99 more. I would add chorizo if it was me and the owner said we could do that. Next time. These chilaquiles were otdered plain with no meat. Anyways, I thought the chilaquiles were good and worth ordering again. The service was just outstanding here and really separates this restaurant from many other places - top notch service. My family and I came in for brunch. They have an outdoor seating area but it started to sprinkle so they closed the area. We have sat out there before and the only complaint is the noise of traffic. The indoor area needs a remodel which they haven't invested in. The food and service was very good. There was always someone checking on us. Biscuits and gravy was delicious, the biscuit was hot and crispy and the gravy was savory, BUT I really think for the $$ they should double the serving portion of biscuits and gravy, make it the star of the plate. As it was, the biscuit and gravy nicely complimented the perfectly cooked over easy eggs (2), and excellent plump sausage links. The hash browns were okay but probably should have been cooked a tad longer so they'd be crispy fried and not limp.
