My friend and I were driving through Leadville when we spontaneously had a craving for lunch; we decided on Mineral. Upon walking in, we were immediately greeted and seated. Despite the restaurant being half full, the service was quite brisk. Our server came by and promptly took our orders. I had the customizable omelette. Overall, the omelette was just okay. It was a standard diner style omelette, albeit a bit too over-salted. The pizza, however, was absolutely delicious. The crust was thin and perfectly cooked, with the top surface having a nice crisp. They also gave us the perfect amount of cheese and a hearty amount of meat toppings. Additionally, the dining room is absolutely gorgeous. The building has some significant Leadville history behind it, and they even have original photos on display. Overall, I would definitely recommend Mineral if you're in the area. read more

Located inside the historic Delaware Hotel, Mineral 1886 looked like a great find. The restaurant has a few brick walls and lots of vintage, 100 year old photos on the walls. However, the interior designer mixed in lots of modern touches and furniture so that Mineral 1886 has no architectural continuity. Nothing seems to match or fit with the cool vibe of the historic building. The breakfast of cook to order eggs and crispy fried bacon was alright. However the hashbrowns were rubbery and tasteless. Recommend their brunch! They have their own homemade donuts- recommend trying at least one for the table. The burgers and fries were delicious. The salad was good but had so much dressing it was like soup at the bottom- it was good though, maybe ask for light dressing or on the side. The building is very cute. After much debate, I ordered the French toast, and I'm so glad I did. It was by far one of the best takes on the dish I've ever had. The toast itself was griddled perfectly. The heavy drizzle of maple cream cheese along with the fresh strawberries added a tangy flavor profile to each bite. The warm syrup made the toast even better. I ordered a side of scrambled eggs which were cooked to the perfect texture -- light and fluffy. I could have eaten a second order easily (the eggs, not the French toast, which was a hefty serving). My last two days on race weekend spent recovering in Leadville, CO. I got to spend time with teammates that live in Leadville. My last night they took me to their favorite restaurant in town. Talk about not only restaurant with history. The hotel that Mineral in was built back in 1886. Leadville use to be mining town small town USA and best part at 10,500ft in elevation. The entrance to restaurant next to the front desk. The interior decor love the vibe you sense the history of the building and shows inside. They have few portraits of people assume have significant to the history. The style of the photo old school and gives you different vibe. Cool. The menu has nice diversity and even burger on the menu. I ended up getting the Scottish salmon entree. It was awesome. The salmon has perfect sear on it. Moist and juicy inside. The potatoes and sauce was amazing. Overall great dish would order again. The Black and Blue Wedge Salad was refreshing. The dressing was tasty. Service five stars!! Birthday weekend in Leadville and Mineral 1886 was our breakfast stop on our way back to Denver. First, the good stuff. I'm always impressed by the small touches a dining room or a bar has. Mineral 1886 has a cool, old timey vibe on one hand and some modern touches and decor mixed in, that still fits in, if that makes sense. We stopped in based on the reviews and pics. Breakfast looked great. We ordered the Leadville 100 and the Eggs Benedict. These two for us, didn't hit the spot. The Leadville 100, a skillet bowl was overpowered by the gravy. It was hard to taste any of the other flavors. My eggs benny were bland and the hash browns were not seasoned well. I left more than I ate (which is rare, if ya know me, lol). This reminded me of a diner, maybe a Denny's. On a good note, there are small touches that can be made to get them back into a 4 or 5 star rating. It is the small things. Mineral 1886 feels like a unicorn breakfast spot in the mountains, the food is great, the pricing is incredibly reasonable, and the setting is unique. The menu is compact, but has all the lunch and breakfast staples, entrees are typically under $15 with huge portions and great taste. (You will pay twice that to eat a microwave breakfast in a closet in Breck) It is in an old higher end hotel with a ton of charm, so even if there is a wait to be seated there is a ton of nice waiting room. The service is kind, personal, and professional. Albeit on the slower side. My kids begged for a fancy dinner, so we went to the mineral. Very minor requests were completely ignored on my kids meals, and we had to wait after food was delivered to make them right. As soon as the kids meals were appropriately prepared the server stopped by and said how is everything when it was clear that not one bite at any plate had been had. Waiter was not concerned, my food arrived at the same time and was overcooked immensely. When I brought to his attention 20 minutes after we were served he said he could go have the kitchen cook it more? Why would that work? How is cooking a well done steak going to make it medium rare? The kicker on all of this was he said he would check if they could do anything, but because I ate it and mind you only a third was consumed they didn't feel inclined to make it right. Service was disappointing, food was worse and the attention to the customers at every other table was spot on. We were handed a bum of an experience, not the first time we have eaten here, in fact we have been eating here at breakfast and lunch frequently. But dinner is a different story. For breakfast they had more savory things more sweet things and then they had things that are a little bit more health conscious like yogurt parfaits. The Mineral started out well and has significantly gone downhill. They can't seem to manage their staff or reservations. We made a reservation for Mother's Day - confirmed with them multiple times. Walked in - was told they lost our reservation and cannot accommodate us and we could be put on a waitlist but there's no way they would be able to ensure we got served.
