I remember my great grandma going there and then my grandparents, they would bring back a box of goodies. I was back in PA recently to visit my grandma and took an Uber to Minerva's to get her a box of goodies. She was very happy with them and said they still taste the same. A co-worker brought some Danishes back to work. They were excellent nice and fluffy and didn't have a really sugary taste you can tell the frosting was homemade. I had an apricot and a pineapple in both the filling was really good. read more

Came here from PGH for the first time. This bakery is legit. I bought some Rye bread and Italian 5 grain. Delicious. A strange snickerdoodle thing with pink frosting. Delicious. I can remember going to Minerva's with my grandma when I was younger. The smells and the sight of gorgeous confections are still vivid in my mind. Years later, I can relive those days whenever I go back to pick up some cookies. The quality of the cakes, pies, cookies, and other desserts are absolutely amazing. The staff, some of whom I still recognize, are some of the friendliest people I have ever met in out of the many bakeries that I have been too. It sounds crazy to drive to Mckeesport for a cookie but Minerva is the BEST! Cookies and pies are incredible. Cakes are lovely and the pastries are worth the workout to get rid of them. My sister and I went to this bakery while on a nostalgic tour of the McKeesport area. What a nice experience! Both of us were born in McKeesport in the 1950s but moved away long ago. I live in Southern California and she is from Chicago. While the town looks to be very depressed, the bakery thrives. We bought cookies, cakes, dinner rolls, pastries etc. All were delicious! My wife likes the icing and white cake at Minerva's so we continually try to enjoy their cakes. The process and dealing with the people there is very difficult, and they regularly make mistakes on the order. They simply "forgot" to put any decorations on my sister-in-law's wedding shower cake and were very unapologetic about it. Most recently my father picked up a cake that was supposed to have yellow cake inside with the buttercream icing. We cut the cake today and it was chocolate. My father was reassured that it was yellow cake inside after he verified twice. Their attitude and quality control is very disappointing and makes the customer experience unenjoyable. read more

Absolutely the best bakery I've been in ever! The cookies are delicious. The nut rolls. & coffee cakes are heaven. Put on your bucket list to eat an almond torte. It is extremely memorable. Thanks to Darren's sis Jessica, we had some excellent cookies for our housewarming party. I liked ths sugar cookies with the jimmies best and the half-dipped chocolate chips, but they were all good. It's too bad about the area in which it is though. read more

We got our wedding cake here back in 2008, and it was AMAZING. The woman that worked with us on design, size, flavor, etc. was extremely helpful and patient. The cake came out beautifully, and was delicious! Since then, nothing I've tasted holds a candle to Minerva's. read more

A delicious neighborhood gem about 5 blocks from the hospital. My favorites are the brownies and creme horns, and pumpkin pies in season, in about 3 sizes go fast. Sometimes if you go near closing, they will pop in an extra brownie or cookie. The burnt almond torte is as good as Prantl's. read more

Their baked goods are good especially the icing. However, the service is terrible! I went in to order a cake; they told me that cake was unavailable to be order. I knew it was available. I left without ordering anything. I went to work and had a co worker call in and order the very cake they told me was unavailable to be ordered. Minerva is a well known bakery in McKeesport. Love their cakes! They have the best icing. They also offer Danishes, donuts, cookies, pies, breads, coffee cakes and my favorite. "Maple rolls". These are soooooo good. Nothing fake about the taste of any of their baked goods. Almond torte is huge but it is delicious. Go check it out! Minerva Bakery cakes have been a staple in my family for generations. Not a huge fan of the cookies, but all the other baked goods are wonderful. The round cinnamon bread is divine. Both my wife and I grew up in McKeesport and have been buying Minerva's baked goods for over 50 years.The quality speaks for itself but the ladies that work the counter are outstanding. During the holiday seasons, the lines are long and they sell out of some things faster than they can make them. Some customers don't handle disappointment well but these ladies are always pleasant and have amazing composure. I hope the owner recognizes what an asset they are to his business. read more
