I got a baguette (4/5), sourdough loaf (4.5/5), multigrain loaf (4.5/5), sesame bagel (4/5), everything bagel (4.5/5), and plain bagel (5/5). The baguette was crunchy but a little dry. The sourdough and multigrain loaves also had nice crunchy crusts but were airy and soft on the inside. The sesame bagel 4/5 was good, even though I'm not a huge sesame fan. The everything bagel was a bit tougher and crunchier. My favorite was the plain bagel; it was beautiful with a perfect crunchy outside, soft fluffy inside, and fantastic flavor; it is easily one of the best bagels I've had, if not the best! This is what a high end Boulangerie in France looks like. Their bread is spectacular. The staff were so friendly and they gave a FREE sourdough starter. You have to try their Sourdough Olive, it's seriously great. I showed them my pictures of a bread shop in Lyon, and told them that they are doing everything right. The baked goods here are so tasty, and the coffee is decent, too. I tried a number of their baked goods, including their cardamom bun, chocolate rye cookie, and hazelnut croissant. The pastries are flaky, crispy, and packed with flavor. I liked how the cookie was very chewy without being too sweet. I stopped by on a weekday around lunchtime to try one of their baguette sandwiches. They only had the mozzarella sandwich at the time. Initially I was a little disappointed because I was hoping for something salty and punchy like a ham and cheese, but ended up really enjoying the mozzarella. The light flavor of the mozzarella allowed the chewiness and flavor of the bread to shine. I imagine that the bread would have gotten masked by something with a stronger flavor like ham. I would highly recommend trying them out if you like bread and pastries! There are plenty of outlets and tables in the back for hanging out or getting some work done. read more

Hmmm. Someone recommended this bakery to me, so there I went. Walking, with 28F, hoping it would be worth it. Upon arrival everything seemed great. A smiling face to welcome you, good scent and places to sit (no wifi that I could see). I ended up ordering a hazelnut croissant, a mushroom tart and a cappuccino. Tipped $2 and waited to pick up what I had ordered. They do not take it to your table or anything like that. Grab and go but you tip. I don't know you but I prefer a savory eggy, cheesy tart to be warmed up. When I requested if that could be done for the croissant and tart... "No, sorry, we cannot do it" ... at a bakery with ready to eat items? Then I seat down and when I cut into the croissant I see it is chocolate, so I go to the front to look at the croissants and visually confirm what I had been given. Yes, I was given the hazelnut croissant but their hazelnut is 'chocolate'? I don't know if that was Nutella but it was not a hazelnut croissant. Now, regretful of having tipped at all, I see my receipt and I was charged a different croissant that had a higher charge. The tart had potential and the coffee, although small, was well prepped. There was a line out the door when we arrived at lunchtime on a hot sunny summer Friday afternoon. The staff was welcoming, helpful, and efficient. We scored the last ham & cheese sandwich on a baguette. It was simple and delicious. I found my iced hibiscus tea very refreshing. It was simply too hot&humid to sit outside comfortably so we ate in the chill back room as the front area was already full. Lots of customers got their goodies and drinks to go. We decided to try out this small Bakeshop when we were in Pittsburgh for the weekend because it was down the street from our family we were visiting. On arrive there was a bunch of parking and a line outside! We realized it was a popular place and they were very fast to get people in and out. Best croissants I've ever had. The everything croissant and the chocolate croissant are huge and only $3-$4. Crunchy on the outside perfectly fluffy on the inside. Delicious. I had room for only a blueberry almond tart and a chai latte, and I suspect I am missing out on bread. Five Points has been my go to weekend treat spot for years. I really cannot recommend this place enough! Things I love: - their chocolate croissant is my #1. Recommend it highly! Perfect every time. Dunk that thing in a cup of coffee to make it even better! - the seasonal danishes are so fun! My faves are pumpkin and rhubarb. - their indoor seating is open now! Cozy with a decent amount of seating, I've never had an issue finding a place to sit either in the back or along the "bar". They have two big bathrooms which is really great too! - service is quick! - so many options, but they always have the favorites available which I love. - I've never ever been disappointed by something I eaten here. Love their vegan oatmeal walnut cookie. You simply can't go wrong. Was disappointed they were out of their delicious poppyseed danishes...but we made do with a few other purchases. Was unhappy to be told that the coffee bar closed at 2 (??? Why?) so we weren't getting any drinks. Not what one wants to hear when you've come in from the snow and cold. The lad liked his chocolate rye cookies. The apricot scone was rather stale though...and I know the difference between normal scone texture and stale pastry. Less impressed than my last visit. I love this local bakery! I made a thanksgiving pre-order and it was so easy! We got rosemary French rolls, a baguette, scones, pumpkin muffins, and a pumpkin pie. The scones and muffins were a perfect thanksgiving morning sweet to snack on with our coffee. The scones are super dense and rich with flavor. The rolls were so delicious! While it might seem a little pricey it is in the same range as most local bakeries of their scale. Five Points also takes COVID safety measures super seriously. All staff were masked and they only allow two customers at a time. They also have hand sanitizer available at the cash register. I bought a Mozzarella veggie sandwich from them last week--made on their homemade bread roll. OMG!!! It was soooo delicious, and at $7, the price wasn't bad, either. I'll definitely be back to buy that sandwich again. On the other hand, I also bought one Snickerdoodle cookie, and it was hard as a rock! Still yummy, but it definitely didn't taste freshly baked. I won't be buying cookies from them again. But their bread is fantastic! And that sandwich was incredible. I'm a little bummed and surprised about the cookie, but I guess you can't win them all. LOL. Also, I had to wait a while in a long line, so keep that in mind if you're in a hurry. I was not, and I always view a long line as a positive endorsement for an establishment. Their apple danish may be the best baked good I've ever had in the city of Pittsburgh. Don't call me extreme until you've tried it, then feel free to respond to this review accordingly. I've heard rave reviews on the croissants, and the sandwiches (get there early for those!) and I know from before I discovered the apple danish (now I will get nothing else) that the chocolate chip muffin is nothing to scoff at. I stopped by five points artisan bake shop to grab some pastries and coffee. I had no idea that this place was so popular, so we were surprised this either was a line out the door. Luckily the line moves pretty quickly, although we made the mistake of coming around 11:30, so a lot of the popular items were gone. I ended up getting a chocolate croissant and a cinnamon roll, as well as an apple pie and lemon poppyseed danish. The chocolate croissant was a little bit underwhelming, and would've been better if it were hot. The cinnamon roll, on the other hand, is absolutely life-changing. They use croissant dough to make the roll itself, and it's the best things of a croissant and a cinnamon roll combined. The apple pie and the cold brew were also very yummy. I would've loved to try more of their items (like their breads), but ya girl can only eat so much! read more

The lady serving us at the counter made wonderful recommendations from the wide array of goods. Alternative milks, vegan cookies, simple payment process (cash app accepted). Drinks and bakery items were reasonably priced. Seating area in the back was a little cramped, but a nice spot to meet with friends or coworkers. Holy crap this was good. First, I judge places by their baguette. Tells a lot about their place by the crunch, the sour/salt, and shape. This place has it spot on. Then, we move on to the croissants - have had the plain, chocolate, and the almond chocolate. Again, just really really good. I'm from out of town - the New York/New Jersey area. While there are some pretty good places in my area, this place absolutely would hold their own with any one of them. The 3 times that I have gone to this place is when they are just opening. I love Five Points, and I'm lucky/unlucky enough to be a short walk away from the best baguettes in the city. Whenever I have out of town guests, I make sure I have something delicious from Five Points for my guests. My mother claims that the ham and cheese croissant has ruined her for other savory pastry. The baguettes make for delicious sandwiches or a beautiful complement to your charcuterie board. I can only imagine a butter board with baguette from Five Points as being addictive. The sourdough makes for a perfect grilled cheese sandwich. The flourless chocolate cakes are little rounds of indulgence. Their challah bread makes for a beautiful French toast casserole if you're a brunch fan. I've only had a couple of less than stellar experiences with Five Points over the past couple of years: The espresso bar is operated by Espresso a Main, and their hours end earlier than Five Points closes. I've been burned too many times by not being able to get a coffee when I need a midafternoon pick me up. The pickled veggie and cream cheese sandwich on the seeded fougasse was simply too much. The pickled vegetables plus the seeds on top were simply too salty, and the cream cheese was a hearty schmear that became overwhelming the further that I got into the sandwich. I could only eat half of the thing. The pumpkin pastry was a miss as well. Texturally, the pastry and pumpkin didn't offer enough contrast, and the pepitas didn't help. The flavor was overall bland. It was like eating squash baby purée in a pastry. I still highly recommend Five Points, even if it means absurdly long lines for bread. read more

Picked these up for my parents who live in the south hills, and my mom said she hasn't had croissants this good since she lived in France. Also, free street parking is never a bad thing.
