The result of touch up came out very beautiful! I did do the 3 to 4 step Milbon treatment as the first time I came here and my hair was soft for weeks. I honestly think that Joe does a wonderful job deciding and helping clients with the choice of color and he is honest in how much lighter a person's color can get. My hair was lightened to a level that I wanted, and Joe gave me advice on how to maintain the salon's treatment before the next treatment. The salon's environment was very very busy when I came in, and I was happy to see all the customers that the salon could handle efficiently all at the same time. The hair stylists and colorist keep an eye out to prevent the bleach from over processing and I didn't feel like I was left stranded for a long time by the staff while my color was processing. Unfortunately, my expectations would backfire because of the subpar customer service. Upon arrival, I greeted the employees in English and was situated in one of the styling chairs. I was the only customer there along with a male and female employee. I was then asked by the female employee if I wanted to wash my hair to which I said no because I had already washed it at home. Since I came in speaking English and a little bit of Mandarin, both assumed I couldn't speak or understand an ounce of Cantonese when in fact I could. The female employee spoke decent English and served as a translator between me and the male employee who ended up cutting my hair. They then proceeded to blow dry my hair and this was when they started making some rude remarks about my hair in Cantonese. The main comment that was repeatedly said by them was how oily my hair was. I'm sorry I just happen to have a more oily scalp due to hormones and genetics? I have visited other hair salons before where I would wash my hair beforehand but have never experienced hairstylists commenting rudely right in front of my face. My hair was straightened afterward to which the male employee continued to make disparaging comments about my hair, such as "her oily hair is ruining the straightener" and "she wouldn't be able to do many hairstyles on her oily hair." Aside from the unpleasant comments, he was also a little aggressive when brushing my hair. There were a few instances when my head would bump against the hairbrush. I was charged a total of $28 which I thought was a bit expensive for a simple haircut because my hair wasn't that long to begin with. Overall, even though I was satisfied with my haircut, I will not be visiting this salon again.

However, there's really only one lady who understands and speaks English. The guy who cut my hair didn't understand or speak so she had to translate, which is a deal breaker for me. Miscommunication can definitely ruin a haircut. The price is also much higher than the salon next door. I've also been to the salon next door and did enjoy my experience and haircut there much more.

When I refused to pay because of the poor result, the owner still insisted that I pay $250, even though he had originally quoted me $230. When I requested a receipt, the owner initially wrote down $250, even though the original quote was $230. After I pointed this out, he corrected the amount. The owner first gave me a handwritten receipt in Chinese, which I refused. I requested an itemized receipt in English, but he refused until my daughter strongly insisted. After issuing the receipt, my daughter noticed that the salon's Certificate of Authority (COA) was framed on the wall, but the frame covered the expiration date. When asked to uncover it, the owner refused. The female employee who applied the chemical products also refused to show her Cosmetology License (CL). After the treatment, my hair was visibly damaged with breakage at the roots. This experience was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I would not recommend this salon to anyone.

A cut for short and medium hair has been around $15. This place takes tips. They speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. They frequently have customers who happen to speak Russian and Spanish, and they are patient with understanding what customers want.
