Second, the staff is very friendly and do their darndest to satisfy the customers. But I can't. First, there's the decor. It's not spectacular, I think Ming Yen and China Palace are far superior. Green bamboo was better too, but alas they closed last year. The dishes we had - soup, cashew chicken, prawns - were all fresh for sure, but the flavors weren't there. It somehow tasted a bit inauthentic (not as bad as Panda though!) Overall, I have to say it was "OK", and that translates to 3 stars. We have decided to give it one more try for dinner, maybe the experience will be different. Let's hope so!

I'm not much for the starch-thickened sauces that show up in a lot of American Chinese dishes, so mushrooms, broccoli and fried rice keep me perfectly happy while everyone else attacks the rest. One thing I especially appreciate: the prices haven't gone through the roof. When you're the guy ordering -- and paying -- for dinner for eight people, you notice. Dinner might be different, but based on what I saw, I wouldn't get my hopes up. First, the hot and sour soup was absolutely horrible. It tasted like someone mixed soy sauce with water, threw in a few pieces of tofu, and called it soup. Extremely salty, with no real depth of flavor. Just nasty! The fried rice was probably the best part of the entire meal, and that's not saying much. I could see the guy in the back preparing it fresh, but we arrived a little after the lunch rush, and he didn't seem particularly enthusiastic about making it. The rice ended up slightly burnt. As for the main dishes, the sauces actually had decent flavor, but the chicken was another story. It tasted like precooked chicken that had been reheated, leaving it with a rubbery, unpleasant texture. Both dishes suffered from the same issue: decent sauce, terrible meat. My overall experience? Disappointing. Between the restaurant's poor cleanliness, the awful soup, the slightly burnt rice, and the rubbery chicken, I personally wouldn't come back. Of course, everyone has different tastes, so feel free to give it a try and judge for yourself. But based on my lunch experience, this place has a lot of room for improvement.

While it wasn't bad at all, it's probably not something I would order again. Kai Ka Prow - I decided to try something new, and the flavors definitely did not disappoint. The chicken was slightly dry, but the seasoning and overall flavor profile made up for it. A solid dish that I'd consider ordering again. Pad See Ew (Beef) - This is my go-to dish and it delivered as expected. Some pieces of beef were more tender than others, but the dish itself was full of flavor. The portion of meat was generous, making it a satisfying meal. Golden Crab Rangoon - One of our favorite appetizers. I really wanted to like them, as they have a lot of good reviews. I placed an online order Friday evening. The system said the order would be ready in 15 minutes. When I arrived to pick up the food there were several people also waiting. The woman bagging the food had a mask hanging from her ear and not around her face. After standing there 10 minutes I finally gained the attention of the cashier who told me my order would be ready soon. I paid for my food and continued to wait. While I was waiting I noticed a large bowl on a table in the middle of the restaurant. It had, what appeared to be, salad in in. After another 10 minutes I asked the woman again about my food and she said it was coming. Five more minutes of waiting and i just asked to take what was ready, as I was tired or waiting. They gave me my food and as I was leaving I got a closer look of the bowl. It was not salad. It was a large bowl of meat and some sort of cabbage sitting on a plate. The meat juices had run on to the plate beneath the bowl. That raw meat had been sitting in the middle of the restaurant, with patrons, for the entire time I was there, and who knows how long before. Upon getting home my food order was wrong and filled with shrimp, which I am allergic. The whole meal went into the trash. read more

I had a really disappointing experience at this Chinese restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the service was slow and inattentive. We waited far too long just to be acknowledged, and even longer to get our food. It felt like the staff either didn't care or were completely overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for it. The dishes came out lukewarm, lacked flavor, and tasted like they had been sitting out for a while. The fried rice was dry, the meat in our entrees was tough, and overall everything just felt low quality and poorly prepared. For the prices they charge, I expected much better. Between the poor service and subpar food, I wouldn't recommend this place and definitely won't be coming back. read more

I was on a road trip and decided to find a place to eat. I found a Chinese restaurant near Novato. The reviews were mixed, but since I'm a big fan of Chinese food, I decided to give it a try. It turned out to be one of the best Chinese restaurants I've ever had. The owner, Peggy, was very friendly and even gave us hot and sour soup and crab meat cheese puffs. Before leaving, I also packed an order of salt and pepper fish fillet to go. Maybe everyone's taste is different, which is why there are some negative reviews online, but Ming Yen is definitely much better than what the online reviews suggest. read more

During my visit, I encountered a disturbing number of insects in various areas of this establishment. This unexpected and unsanitary situation greatly impacted my dining experience and has raised serious questions about the overall hygiene standards at this restaurant. I almost never write reviews, but this was so bad I had to... Every dish I ordered tasted very old, to say the least. The chicken was rubbery and probably should have been tossed last week. The shrimp in the chow mein smelled so bad I didn't even eat it. The fried wontons are so stale they're hard to bite into.
