I love local businesses and it (almost) pains me to write this review, but a place is only as good as the people who work there, and I have had such negative interactions with the employees at Mingle that I am compelled to warn others who may consider unloading a good portion of their wallets at the establishment. I should stress that my rating is for the employees working at this establishment (the products themselves I would rate a 3/5 - Acai bowls are decent if not overpriced and slightly lacking in taste and esthetic appeal). The condescending, unmotivated and incompetent employees make coming here an altogether unpleasant experience. For instance, the last time I came in, I asked to have an ingredient as a topping on my Acai bowl rather than having it blended in, the employee ringing me up sneered at my request, tried to make me change my mind about the bowl I wanted and ultimately exclaimed that my order would "be more work for us." Ummmm, are you seriously telling a customer paying the amount this place charges for mediocre Acai bowls that putting an ingredient on top is too much work for you??? All of my experiences here (save one with an actually friendly, competent employee) have been in the same vein. I came back several times seeing if their hiring / training practices have changed but I cannot justify spending another penny on this place! Not a fan at all! If you looking for the best, it's true juice in Winnetka. Amazing smoothies, juices, and healthy foods. The only reason I go to mingle is because I take my kids to the theater next door. And ever time I go they are always out of bananas, which is the main ingredient in most all their smoothies. The young gentlemen is very nice and always apologizes for being out of bananas. When they do have bananas they are never ripe. So the smoothie ends up tasting very bitter. I Finally, saw the owner and told her the issue about never having bananas. She was extremely rude and defensive. I would not recommend this place. If you ever in Winnetka try true juice. I guess the ingredients are just better quality and more expensive" Um, seriously???? Product Quality Grade D I ordered two smoothies, a Tony The Liger and a Pumped Up Kicks. Not only was it the consistency of water (which is pretty gross for a smoothie), but there was almost zero taste to either. I should rephrase, the Pumped Up Kicks tasted a bit like vomit. Sorry to be so gross, but it's also true. The owners should really go do some research on competitors like Peeled to learn how both knowledge of product and quality of preparation will make the difference between a line out the door and an empty shop. This is a bummer to write because I really like to try and support small businesses, but the service here really is bad. I've come twice now when I'm in town and both times I've almost left in the middle of placing my order because the people working there are so rude. There is not an ounce of "how can we help you" it's instead "that's a pain for us." The smoothies and bowls are fine but overpriced. I'm glad there's a healthy option in town but I really wish they would train their workers to be pleasant and put the customer first. I am so happy to have finally walked through these doors! Its so hard to find actual juice bars in the suburbs that has class, charm, taste and best of all, options. It is worth trying to find parking in the Glen. Once I walked in and immediately noticed that Mingle is clean, welcoming and just adorable. The people behind the bar are so friendly too. I have only tried 2 so far but have enjoyed them very much and look forward to the next ones i get. When I come in here i am usually in a rush and need something for later too and they have pre-made chicken wraps that come with organic green salad too. The wraps are simple yet delicious and is exactly what I need. It is a bit more expensive then others but having options and custominizations such as almond milk is so important to me I'm willing to pay the few extra dollars. I know someone had mentioned how they can just make this at home for cheaper but you gotta think about it; you are paying for their food, time, equipment and expertise. Personally as a busy young women I am ok with paying a little extra to have someone else make it with exceptional quality. I go here regularly and love their smoothies & bowls. Having said that, I just wish it was a better experience. Here are my biggest issues: 1) The staff are not nice - even the management team is just rude. 2) Their online ordering system is down most of the time, so I can't order in advance (which helps beat the line and reduce wait time). When I tried calling them to order by phone, no one answered. So when I mentioned to the person behind the counter that I called and no one answered she shrugged and seemed to think it wasn't a big deal that their phone wasn't working. 3) They recently changed their straws to ones that are so narrow that you have to suck until you have a brain aneurysm in order to drink your smoothie. I usually just end up getting a new straw from Starbucks across the street. I realize these issues are minor, but any time I've mentioned them to the people that work there, they just don't care and don't do anything about it. read more

This was my third visit today and by far the most disappointing. The first visit I had a Pineapple Express juice and absolutely loved it. It had a hint of basil and lime. The second visit I had Tony the Liger and also really enjoyed. Today I had the same Pineapple Express and I was so sad. The first sip had a great pineapple taste and I walked out the door. After I began driving it became sour and tasted like bitter lime. There was no pineapple taste and after paying $7 I expect really great produce. Totally love this place. I think I've tasted just about all of their juices and shots and they are all amazing. My favorite juice is the Kale Yeah...(come on..who wouldn't love walking into a place and saying "Can I get a Kale Yeaaaaaah!?") Another favorite is the Light my Fire. I think that's what it's called...the one with jalapeños. I love spicy food..so having a spicy drink (although I'd probably add some habanero if I could because I love SUPER spicy) is a major plus. Also I LOVE the açai Relax Bowl. I always get one when I go with my hubby or kids and I'm like a feral beast with it when one of them wants to stick their spoon in it to steal a bite...I'll start growling and hissing...it's mine mine MINE!!!!!! I was so excited to stumble upon a place where I could grab a healthy lunch with my kids instead of something gross and greasy! I don't know why the suburbs are so slow to catch on to the desperate need of restaurants that offer healthy options. Everything we had was super delicious...the True Colors juice was just amazing. My daughter loved her Tony the Liger smoothie...devoured the entire thing in like 2 minutes! The lady working the counter was super sweet and helpful and even made a custom "mango only" smoothie for my 5 month old...which he went nuts for! That being said, if I'm being real the açaí bowl I had was not great. My friend enjoyed her Not tella, but my pink flamingo was lowkey not it. It said it had peanut butter but I s2g there was maybe like one spoonful of it MAYBE. I think if there was more it could've helped out a bit. We recently moved to the area and tried Mingle a couple of times while house hunting and really enjoyed the smoothies. We have been meaning to go back so our kids could try it. We decided to do that this morning. We checked the website to make sure they were open and the hours posted for Saturdays were 7am to 7pm. I took orders from my wife and daughters and headed there. When I arrived at 7:30 the lights were on but the doors were locked. The hours posted on the door were 7am to 7pm. I was about to drive off when I noticed a person in the store, who from the website appeared to be one of the owners, so I went back to the door. She came to the door and told me that they don't open until 8 on Saturday's. I pointed to the sign showing their hours and commented that their website also said that they opened at 7. She somewhat abruptly said that they open at 8 and that her "vinyl guy" had not yet updated their door sign. No reason as to why the website still has the wrong hours. Maybe the "vinyl guy" was supposed to update that too. I understand that places change their hours. But when they do so without updating their website or their door signage they should not be surprised when customers arrive at times that they are advertising that they are open. They should also not be surprised when those customers who have verified the hours on their website before coming open are frustrated to find out that they are closed and feel like the store has wasted their time. And when those customers arrive and are frustrated, if they value those customers they should try to be apologetic, not abrupt and borderline rude to them. We may be back as the smoothies are very good and their menus is unique for the area. But their basic customer service today was really lacking. I would give them 5 stars based on past experiences with their smoothies and I would give them 1 star for the customer experience today. So two stars. read more

What we had was delicious but owing to some printing problems we didn't get to see the full menu of what we could have added. If what you want is not on the menu, they will customize for you with the ingredients they have. The decor is just right for a place that promotes such healthy eating. It is also great that they are trying, where possible, to source local organic ingredients. The lunches that they will be doing sound really enticing. Give this place a try - my sense is it will get better and better. We really need somewhere like this in the area - don't be afraid to give feedback. This is by far my favorite juice bar around! I usually stick to the acai bowls but I've had a couple of their smoothies and those are also delicious. If you're looking for an acai bowl I would recommend the relax bowl (thicker and sweeter because of the peanut butter and hazelnut) or the Kaiser which is much more fruity.
