My wife and I were visiting for the day and found this amazing spot. I wish I could remember our servers name as she was great. I had the special Pad Thai sushi and it was delicious. My wife had the fish tacos and the fish was fresh and not fried. I asked our server if i could just have one fried clam as i love them but couldn't eat a whole platter of fried food and she brought me several. Very good. We went for lunch and had the spicy tuna roll and the blackened swordfish tacos with rice and black beans. The swordfish was a bit on the dry side but still tasty. First time here. There were five of us. Loved the decor. It was Thursday night acoustic. We got a booth in the back. We had called ahead for a table and was told that they would hold the table outside for us. However when we got there they said they don't hold tables. A little snafu but no biggee. Jamie was our waiter. Couldn't figure out if he was trying to be funny or a jerk. I'll go with being funny and say he was on top of it. Service was great. I'm not a seafood eater so when ordering something outside of seafood it can be tough. Literally! However, I ordered steak tips and they were delicious! I will definitely be going again! SO disappointed with this place. We ordered take out after a long day. I ordered salmon with Brussels sprouts... they were BURNED completely. The meal was very expensive too! Mg boyfriend got a bacon burger which was cooked medium-rare when he asked for well done. (I loved the burger bc that how I like my meat cooked). For spending $60 AND picking up our own food.... It's definitely a fun place to checkout when you're visiting Gloucester, MA. If you get to dine outside, it's quite a treat. The menu is somewhat eclectic with bar eats, American and Asian main dishes and sushi. I opted for sushi, since their maki rolls sounded delicious! I was seeing a friend's show in Gloucester and hadn't eaten all day and every restaurant near Rocky Neck was closed. By the time she got done and we had walked a good ways looking for stuff, I was starving. Walking back from the last place that was closed, we encountered an electrician and asked him for a recommendation. He recommended Minglewood and we somehow stumbled on it, not knowing the area. When I first entered, I was bummed because the football game was on every tv and it was blaring. We sat outside and, as soon as we started eating, I knew we had chosen the right place. I had a Cobb salad which normally would have been all lettuce with just a little bit of toppings. This salad was loaded. The lettuce was large pieces of Bibb lettuce and the toppings were wonderful. The blackened chicken was so flavorful. I had a pomegrante limeaid that was incredibly flavorful. I had orange chili fried cauliflower in place of chicken wings and that was great, too. I spoke at length with Sarah, the manager and she was open and friendly and kept complimenting my food choices which happened to be her favorites, so, of course, I felt really good about that. I have eaten there twice in the last month and the food ranged from hot (green beans) to ice cold (mashed potatoes). A few months back, I booked the Minglewood Harborside for a wedding rehearsal dinner , the future date was 04/25/24. I made the right decision! The relaxed ambience of the 'Captain Courageous Room' with its modern rustic decor, soft lighting & bar was so inviting ..yes, a great place for our rehearsal dinner but could easily accommodate a cocktail party, a baby shower, or a sit down dinner..it has a great vibe! The food was outstanding, I ordered platters of Bang Bang shrimp , calamari, chicken tenders & hummus with naan & veggies..beer & wine & people walked around , socialized..after we had a sit down dinner.The manager, Zach Sears & I had already discussed the menu & each guest received one for their personal choices. We started with homemade clam chowder or onion soup or salad , all great choices..and there were 3 entree choices; Pan seared scallops with polenta & sweet corn and the Baked haddock & BBQ steak tips were served with mashed potatoes or truffle fries & choice of vegetable and for dessert, baked chocolate chip cookies! My son Tim & Eden had a wonderful time...the bridal party and guests had so many compliments about the food ..we stayed a long time, talking and really had a great evening. Upon entering, I was a little concerned that the food would be a bit "pubby". You know, burgers and fries, etc. But the food was a 10 and it was clear the kitchen knew what they were doing. Really sad because we really liked the place and the staff. The nachos were really good big enough to share for two people and be a meal. However, we ordered a normal burger my boyfriend had and I ordered the bbq pulled pork sandwich. Mine wasn't appetizing so I didn't eat it. But my poor bf ate his burger and later that night got food poisoning. Projectile vomit and everything. We know it was the burger because aside from the nachos that we both ate. We both ordered the clam chowder, which might have been tastier if not for the overwhelming rosemary flavor. Then I ordered the "fish" sandwich (what type of fish wasn't explained). It was bland, I mean zero flavor & it had clearly been fried from frozen as it was leaking water with each bite. The apple slaw was pretty tasteless as well, I mean, I didn't taste any apple. My friend had the salmon sandwich & had the same experience. The space is great & could do well if they served fresh seafood; I mean they're right on the harbor!! I've enjoyed Minglewood since it's opening, even when it was lat 43. The deck is awesome spot in the summer and my general experience has always been delicious food and a great atmosphere. Last night my girlfriend and I ordered take out, I got my self the whole belly clam plate. When I got home I realized they had given me calamari! I understand mistakes happen but there's a pretty huge difference between the two. I was so hungry by the time I got home I didn't call them back. Disappointed to say the least. read more

We stopped in for dinner on a Saturday evening. It was packed and we were told we could put our name on the list, about a 35 minute wait. 15 minutes later we received a text saying our table was ready. We got the chowder, spicy lobster sushi roll and the fishmans platter. The chowder was great with a smoky bacon flavor. The spicy lobster sushi roll ($20) was a traditional maki roll with lobster on the inside, topped with crab meat, avocado and a spicy aioli. It was so delicious! The fishmans platter ($30) came with a huge piece of haddock, clams, calamari, shrimp and French fries. It was massive and definitely worth the price. I got two cosmos, both varied in taste drastically (probably different bartenders), but were also very weak. I would stick to wine or beer next time. Worth a trip! read more

I decided to give minglewood a second chance after my first experience and it was not great. While we waited we ordered a drink and buffalo cauliflower as an app. Halfway through eating the app, we bit into a Buffalo fried scallop... GROSS. Ordered over $100 worth of food for takeout, took over an hour to prepare and it was a simple order. We went here for my mother's birthday and thought it was still Latitude. Fairly disappointed to find out that Latitude is gone but willing to give it a try. First off, our waitress was Tammy and she deserves 100 stars. She was so nice and really took the time to help my mother order a drink she liked, plus told us about the app so we got a free appetizer for signing up. She was awesome. The rest of the experience was just so so. The noise level was off the charts. I had a hard time hearing anyone near me and really had a hard time with how loud it was. They eventually had a musician playing but we could barely hear him over the noise. I did like the huge television by where we were sitting - nice to watch the Bruins game. The menu is just so so. I had been hoping for seafood but nothing looked that compelling. We tried the sushi and it was good. Food took forever to come though. For drinks, my mother and I tried the Honey Bee and it needs to be renamed the Lemon Bomb. Ugh. Possibly worse drink I've had. My mother gave hers away but I was determined and drank mine. My mother then ordered a pain killer and hated it. I liked it though. Very nice with the creamy coconut. Tammy finally helped her with a drink and it was great. Thank you again, Tammy! Side note - it was so loud that I thought her name was Pammy when she introduced herself and didn't realize til near the end that it was Tammy. Our main dishes were again just so so (spotting a trend?). We had an Impossible Burger. My dining partner loved it, I thought it was okay. I kind of feel that is overrated across the board, but I digress. I went with the steak bomb on a Virgilio's roll. The french fries were great. The sandwich wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. Very spicy with not much meat. We took most of it home. My mother got what I should have ordered which was the root beer grilled steak tips. Yum. Not overly grilled at all (which is why I didn't order as I hate over grilled meat) and a delicious flavor. Hers was supposed to come with potatoes but she got truffle fries instead which none of us were a fan of. Everything taking forever and the really obnoxious noise levels made this a not again type place for us.
