It's a whole new thing at Minglewood. Lat 43 has been delightfully replaced by Minglewood Harborside. HUGE IMPROVEMENT! We stopped in for an early bite and drink and received a warm welcome and plenty of space at their enormous comfortable bar. The menu is what we've come to expect from Serenitee -- creative, appealing, and this one has a lot of great seafood options, a priority for us (wish our beloved Opus had more). We ordered drinks & nachos to start and some entrees. All good. The nachos arrived and we wished we had brought 4 friends with us to share, the portion was huge! Our bartender, Shauna (forgive my spelling) then revealed that she had not fired our entree order, since she knew full well the size of our entree. She alone, gets 5 stars! We ended up getting the calamari app (asian style) which was delicious - tender not rubbery at all. My wife and I were walking around Gloucester and a friend had recommended Minglewood for lunch. Great atmosphere and decor, and the servers were fantastic! And the food did not disappoint. We both had the clam chowder, which had plenty of bacon in it. I had the Cajun fish tacos, which had just enough kick, and my wife really enjoyed the fish and chips. I rarely go out of my way to Yelp a restaurant. But I had such a great experience at Minglewood Harborside I had to leave one. The first thing that stuck out was the decor. It's cozy, funky and pretty spacious (indoor, bar and outdoor waterfront seating). I appreciated the nod to popular jam bands throughout the murals. The music playlist was perfect. Lots of 90's alternative throwbacks. Overall a really unique fun place that I wish existed in my city. The food was delightful! We got chowder and the fried haddock. Easily some of the best fried fish I've ever had. I'm always hesitant paying more than $18 for fish n' chips because so often you get a massive piece but it's mostly batter. This was two thick cuts of hearty fish with a really flavorful crispy exterior. I usually don't like coleslaw but theirs was unique and had apple and was topped with poppyseeds. The fries were basic and pretty bland. Service was quick and pleasant. Bless the server who chased a seagull out of the dining room. I'm sure that's a pretty common occurrence. After a long day of travel we arrived at our air bnb with a very tired 7 month old and two parents that didn't want to cook. We called for take out and the girl that answered the phone was so friendly... as someone who has worked on and off in the industry for years I knew it had to be a good place based off from her personality alonFood was ready in 15 minutes and was amazing!! We got the Brussel sprouts, fish tacos and fried chicken sandwich. Portions were great and flavor was amazing. After seeing the inside at pick up we will definitely be back to dine in before our stay is done!! Update!! We called the following Saturday to see about lunch reservations for 2 plus a baby. We were informed they don't do reservations but although they were having a lunch pop and couldn't promise a table they had a few available. Again we were not disappointed. The place was pretty busy. I recognized the hostess from my previous experience... she greeted us and asked us our preference both or table with the car seat. Dennis M. Was our server and he was wonderful. Extremely friendly and attentive without being too much! Our food again was awesome. This time I did a cup of chowder and a salmon caeser salad... I don't think I have ever had salmon cooked more perfectly. He had the steak and cheese and the truffle fries... amazing. The atmosphere was wonderful and very kid friendly. The bartender even came over to meet our little one and tell us how beautiful she is! I highly recommend this place. It's hands down the best restaurant experience I have had in years! We stopped for drinks and an appetizer right around dinner time. We were seated outside by the docks right away! Our server didn't greet us but she was pretty chatty! We ordered their bang bang shrimp (must have been a new app cause the server didn't even know they had it) but it was DELICIOUS! they served it with blue cheese which surprisingly complimented it very well. Went back here after a year when before the food and service was mediocre at best. We were able to dine outside on the back deck which was a beautiful day and view of the harbor. Very impressed with our service and the knowledge that our server had of the menu. We had the steak and cheese on a Virgilio roll which was amazing and the pulled chicken on a salad that was super tasty. What was impressive for me since I don't drink alcohol was they had my all time favorite Athletic beer!!! The first time I have seen this in a restaurant in Gloucester. We had an awesome experience at Minglewood last night. We took a chance as the reviews were iffy, but with a name like Minglewood & harbor view, we had to give it a try and are so glad we did! We are all 4 vegetarian but the menu had plenty of options. We ordered the nachos, buffalo cauliflower, Beyond burger with carmelized onions & aioli, and sides of mashed potatoes & a salad. All were fresh, cooked perfectly, and served extremely quickly after we ordered. Our waitress, also a vegetarian, was sweet, accommodating, and kind. We sat outside at a corner table and felt like we had the place to ourselves! The Dead references & giant picture of Jerry Garcia didn't hurt ;-) The only reason I did not give Minglewood 5 stars is that we saw a large critter on the dock that encroached on our space, attempting to "clean up" after a family with children left at the table next door. We understand it's harbor living & it's likely out of the restaurant's control, but still. Even though, we'd go back in a heartbeat! Decor is spot on as well with lots of space for social distancing during Covid, great tunes & cool vibe. Give this place some love, you won't be disappointed. read more

Here's the good: we were able to get a table for 5 on the early side on a Saturday night in August with no wait. Many of the restaurants in Gloucester are on the smaller side, and it's impossible to get a table without a reservation. There were no outdoor tables available, but there was a nice breeze from the open window of our indoor booth, so it was quite pleasant. My son loved his hamburger, and it was huge. The sushi was pretty good. We are within walking distance of Minglewood, so we would love to be able to come more regularly, with improvements. This was our first visit since the name change from Latitude 43, so I asked the waiter what he recommended from the menu. He said, "of course, since we're by the ocean, the seafood is great," so we ordered the baked haddock and seafood casserole. I wish I had taken pictures, but a friend was treating us to the meal and since the dishes were clearly not appetizing, I thought it would be rude. The haddock was a very thin fillet the length of a dollar bill with each end tapering to a point so there was even less fish. Because it was so thin, it was also dry, and there was little of the described "buttery bread crumbs" or "lemon beurre blanc." I asked for tartar sauce because it tasted like plain baked fish. The mashed potatoes, by volume, was about four times the size of the fish and overwhelmed the plate. They sell the mashed potatoes as a side dish for $4. Add the tiny haddock filet and a handful of green beans, and you're now paying $23 for the baked haddock dinner. Hmmm. We had similarly disappointing results with the seafood casserole. Very little seafood. A few medium-size shrimp, one single scallop, and some fish pieces. Why, Minglewood? We're right by the shore and the fish is local and cheap. On a $23 entree ($25 for the seafood casserole), why don't they give us a decent amount of fish? We are accustomed to smaller restaurants in town where the seafood entrees come with very generous portions--easily enough for leftovers. Also, we were quite hungry upon arrival, and it was surprising that a restaurant at this price point ($20-$30 for a dinner entree) didn't offer bread or some other amuse bouche upon seating. If you're visiting Gloucester and want a comfortable restaurant by the water on a busy night, they will generally be able to seat you particularly if you come on the early or late side. The food is fine as long as you understand that the seafood entrees are on par with what you might find in a land-locked state. If you're a local and have the option to take out and bring your food home when restaurants are busy, this would not be my first choice. read more

We were in Gloucester for a vacation with family and decided to try Minglewood for a birthday dinner since it had an outside area to sit. Parking is very difficult, restaurant looked to only have maybe 5-6 spaces, you must find a lot or space to pay. When we entered and asked for 6 on outside deck on a Sunday at 5 pm we were told they could not sit 6 people outside because others may be waiting and it wouldnt be "fair". Hostess never looked at outdoor area or cared, then after asking how long to wait she said "I dont know maybe 30-45 minutes". We were confused because there were alot of empty tables outside and almost an empty inside. We decided to sit inside. Our waitress was always kind and worked hard, we did eventually have to get up and find her for our check because it seemed she was waiting tables at opposite side. We also watched 6 staff members walk through spilled ketchup on the floor with the cup still lying there before someone slipped and it was finally wiped up. It was ignored in a high traffic area for approximately 10 minutes! Customers had to walk around the mess. The food was o.k. once it arrived however the calamari appetizer wasn't served until food arrived and was barely warm temperature and became cold and soggy quickly. The bathroom was not cleaned with trash overflowing even though the restaurant was not particularly busy. We did not feel it was a friendly atmosphere and it was not very welcoming or clean. We followed yelp to another restaurant that use to be here (lat 43) I thought the guy that told us to meet him there was being a jerk and asked to find GPS location. They have a nice view of the harbor, boats going in and out, we sat outside on the deck and the staff was nice to accomodate us and served us nicely. However, I had a server tonight named Tammy and it felt like she wasn't listening and always running away from the table. We ordered nachos to start and then sushi but our sushi came out first and she claimed she didn't hear our order even though she had acknowledged us. I will be weary of who I have for a server the next time, especially since I paid $24 for a sushi roll that was subpar. read more

Sat on the back patio overlooking the harbor on a Saturday evening and Todd was our waiter. He did an AMAZING job and really made us feel special as we were celebrating a birthday that day as well. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Not even kidding. Everything we ate was incredible. We had the tuna tartare, frickles, fried shrimp plate, fried clam belly plate, dragon sushi and steak tips. Todd even put a candle on our dessert for us. So nice! Lost one star because Charlie the Seagull remained perched above various patio tables during our entire time there and instantly attacked any abandoned tables with any food bits left behind. This was a little unnerving, to say the least. As Charlie is a wild animal, I have absolutely no idea how they could resolve this issue. This spot has a super cute atmosphere, right on the water, very classy and they have extremely fresh seafood. Really bummed to say the food here is not very good! We love the other Serenitee restaurants (Hale St., Opus, 15 Walnut, Cala's...) and go often because of the rewards program, but this one is not up to par at all. We've given Minglewood three tries since it reopened, getting different food each time, and nothing has been very good. We've tried the steak tips (way too sweet), chicken caesar salad (chicken was flavorless with, I think, fake grill marks, and dressing tasted off), sushi (dry, didn't taste fresh), mussels (broth had weird flavor), fish tacos (fish was good, but the rest of the taco was soggy and fell apart), a burger (just average), and maybe a couple other things I'm forgetting. There's a ton more on the menu, so maybe we've just managed to miss the good stuff, but after three bad visits, we don't really want to go back. So disappointing because this is the closest Serenitee restaurant to us. Also, the service is always good and the atmosphere is really fun, so we'd for sure be here all the time if the food was better. read more

We were Very disappointed when we used our gift certificate yesterday. I ordered the salmon with sweet potatoes and roasted Brussels sprout. The sweet potatoes were underdone and not seasoned at all, the sprouts, although nicely browned, were dripping in grease, and the salmon, which I specifically asked to have cooked medium, was overdone and dry. I didn't finish any of it. We had takeout, or I would have sent it back. My honey got the fried shrimp with onion rings and slaw. The slaw was blah, the rings tasted like they came from the freezer at the supermarket and the shrimp were just ok. We won't go back. read more

We were excited to see a separate gluten free menu with a large selection. They listed their fries on the gluten free menu and the waiter told us they share oils with the gluten food this rendering it useless. Why lie to us like that by putting it on the menu? This is a trend I'm seeing a lot at restaurants and it scares me. Parking for summer was surprisingly easy. From the minute we walked in the host stand employees were amazing! We asked for and got a great table on the water. Our server Todd was fantastic and very attentive. We went all seafood today having the oysters and the spicy clams. Both were some of the best we've had!!! My Fiancé & I came here for dinner & were very disappointed to say the least. The server was attentive but that was the only good thing about our dinner. We ordered 2 apps, tater tots w/cheese & bacon bits & garlic Parmesan tenders. The tater tots were minus the bacon & had no presentation whatsoever. The garlic Parmesan tenders tasted as if they were on the verge on being rancid & were extremely dry to boot. I ordered the Cobb Salad, the seasoning on the blackened chicken was like eating a mouthful of salt. I had my fiancé taste test it to make sure i wasn't exaggerating. He ordered the Minglewood burger, asked for medium, came out rare, the garlic, Parmesan truffle fries were nothing special either. After a long day at work we were both extremely disappointed with the food. Having worked as a waitress for 20 plus years, now retired from the industry, I've always said, "The food is only as good as the person cooking it". We won't be back anytime soon read more
