Ming's has a special place in my pallet.. Fresh donuts made daily. You can see him through the outside window if you get there early enough. (like 3:30a) haha.. Really though, the donuts are great. All the classics, Glazed, Chocolate, Old Fashioned, Bear Claws, Croissants, etc.. They will even fill a chocolate bar with jelly instead of custard, try it, it's great. Hands down, my favorite donut shop. They have THE BEST cake donuts with pink frosting. I've tried other places frosted cake donuts and always wish I had just gone to Mings instead. So soft, so fresh, so tasty! I moved away for a while, so going here in the morning was out-of-the-way, but I'm back, and guess what! Mings is less than a minutes drive away when I leave for work. When I checked in, the first quick tip that popped up was "Blueberry cake donuts are perfect." And aside from the dozen that I ordered, the lady threw in another one just for good measure because I counted 13 in my box. And one that stood out was this small glazed chocolate chip lookin one. 20+ years ago, my parents and relatives would pick up donuts from here after church. I always liked their light fluffy insides and crisp outsides. They also had this distinct black-tea-like aftertaste that I would later appreciate. Fastforward--It's good to know they still somehow have the same donuts all these years...they don't melt in your mouth, but if you're lucky and get one that's especially crisp around the edges...(sigh) And I concur on getting there before 11am, even on the weekdays...San Leandro's finest (i.e. old folks) like to hang out here starting at 6-something AM (i see them when I work early shifts). Get there early to get the full selection of awesome donuts this place has to offer. I am a simple man of simple taste so I always go for a chocolate bar and this place had a great one! Ham and cheese croissant was off the hook too. The thing that separates this place from other donut shacks I've been to in the area is how fresh these donuts were. So even after 20yrs this place still rocks! I spent a good portion of my HS life working behind the counter here. At one point, I was pretty tired of taking donuts home every day. I was surprised to go in today and find that they have cut back on the amount that they make. It was only 9am and it was already kinda slim pickin's. Their raised and old fashion donuts still taste the same...the recipe hasn't changed (of course they use ready-mix dough), only the owners. All their donuts are good. Hmmm where do I starts ?! Lol We had a delivery over that area and saw this place and decided to try it out. Our total was $6.95. I saw the little lady run the card and since her credit card machine was out of paper and only printed one receipt, she decided to replace the paper on it and run the card again for another $6.95 so it could print out 2 receipts! Wtf?! Do you not know how to use this thing! I know it's only $6.95 but how about if she does it all the time and people don't know! It's dishonesty and theft! I seen her do it and she gave us one receipt. Once we walked out I logged on to my bank account and seen that there was two pending charges for $6.95. My boyfriend took my phone in and showed them the pending charges and she said that it was pending and that if they both went threw to go back when it did and she would reimburse us. Ok what ever. I think she was just being plain Ignorant. Of course it's going to go threw if you ran it twice you J A! So it did go threw and we went back and his really nice young man was behind the counter and my bf explain to him what happened and showed him the charges and he gave us a credit towards what we got. i was out in hayward and decided to go back and see if my high ratings for ming's were merited... yes, they were. the sugar raised donut was still perfectly fluffy and not oily (light). perfect. and i also had a crumb donut for variety, and that hit the spot. their donuts are exactly what you hope and expect them to be. if i had any unhappinesses, it came only from the super crowded parking lot at lunch--apparently a new tea store opened. i had to park on the sidewalk outside the mall (plenty of parking there, esp near the donut store). read more

Cons: The woman who helped me actually pointed a set of tongs at me and grunted instead of saying something along the lines of: I don't know- What can I get for you? How can I help you? Had a major craving for some doughnuts so I turned to yelp and found this gem right in the neighborhood. Of all the years I have lived in San Leandro I am surprised I have never dropped by this doughnut shop. The prices are very reasonable. I paid $3.85 for a dozen doughnut holes and two old fashion chocolate glazed doughnuts. It was worth every penny! I definitely want a dozen of them next time I come in. I came by after my run at the marina around 12:30 pm and there weren't that many to choose from. So a piece of advice is to go as early as possible for more selections of doughnuts. There were still plenty of doughnuts, but I didn't want to be too greedy. The shop is a classic mom and pop shop and as you walked in I was greeted right away. There is a $5 minimum if you plan to pay with a card. Luckily, I had cash today. I will be coming back soon and perhaps before I head to work for fresh doughnuts! I definitely recommend locals to give this doughnut shop a try. It's better then the over glazed and over priced doughnuts from krispy kreme! read more

I've been coming here since 1985 and the quality has been consistent. I get donut holes, chocolate bar filled or chocolate glazed. Everything is always fresh with quality ingredients. When you bite into the donuts they're soft. They do sell out cause of the quality so you can't give bad reviews for that. Coffee is always hot and has a great flavor. I gave 5 stars cause they earned it. The smaller lady can be rude at times but only sensitive people will give bad reviews based on that. Ming's Donuts is my absolute favorite donut shop in the Bay Area. The donuts are always fresh. I especially like the bear claws & apple fritters because they make them correctly on a consistent basis; other places can't seem to get the recipe right and either make them too doughy or overcook them. I have long judged if I have had a good night out in part by whether Ming's Donuts is already open (around 4am daily) when I drive past on my way home in the early morning. During the American public's brief rendezvous with Krispy Kreme a few years ago, I sadly forgot about how Ming's, like so many other neighborhood donut shops across the country, awakens before dawn each morning without fail, partly because of the off chance that a non-regular like myself might decide to go for donuts that morning. In fact, I used to frequent Ming's less for their donuts and more for the fact they carried Snapple Mint iced tea despite its seeming absence west of the Hudson River. There are probably better donuts and there are definitely worse donuts around, but Ming's will always be my neighborhood donut shop. I don't know how I came across Ming's Donuts but I'm glad I decided to try it out. Came around 9 and was happy that there was still a large variety of donuts available because other Yelpers mentioned they tend to run out fast! There is plenty of parking because it is located inside a plaza. The donuts here is probably one of the BEST donuts I've ever had. The rave about the blueberry donuts are true! They're like blueberry cake in the form of a donut, so soft and moist, also not too sweet with just a thin layer of frosting! I AM IN LOVE!! Loved all of the other variety of cake donuts. The glazed donuts was good, one of the better ones I've had. Bought 5 donuts but the lady offered to give me a free one if I got one more so of course I took advantage of that deal!
