I've been wanting to renovate my backyard for…read morethe past few years and when I finally decided to take the plunge, I reached out to several landscaping companies in the area for an estimate, including Landscape Plus. I wanted to choose the contractor based on: 1) fairness/transparency of the estimate, and 2) whether the owner will be onsite every day to check on the work and progress, and 3) how many jobs the owner takes on simultaneously. I ultimately decided to go with Froy + Landscape Plus because he not only provided the best estimate but he struck me as a really genuine, trustworthy person, and I loved his philosophy of taking on only one job at a time for the best quality outcome. Because the reno approval process with my HOA took such a long time, there was actually quite a bit of a time gap between the initial estimate and when I could begin the work, but Froy was incredibly patient with me and was still easily reachable whenever I had questions or updates. I did my entire backyard, including a full demolition of existing pavers, built-in barbeque/kitchen, gas fire pit, and huge retainer walls that wraps around the entire yard, and re-tiling the whole floor with a new fire pit. Froy and his crew actually finished earlier than the initial estimated timeline, which really pleasantly surprised me. Every day, Froy and crew always showed up on time, respected our property and cleaned up after themselves, and Froy gave me very frequent updates on how things were going, what was going to happen the next day, etc. I also did not run into any surprise additional cost of any kind (other than what I added on my end, and even those additions were very fairly priced.) Last but not least, even when the work was all completed and the entire invoice was paid for, Froy came back a few times at my request to help return leftover materials + add extra lights. Froy is very dedicated to each project he takes on, and will go that extra mile -- he will not leave you hanging until you are completely happy and satisfied with the outcome. From the very beginning, Don worked closely with us to establish a clear vision and design, patiently incorporating many revisions as we refined what we wanted. His responsiveness and guidance throughout the design process were outstanding. Once the design was finalized, Paradise Designs brought in two large, highly professional crews--one focused on hardscape and another on trenching, digging, and drainage. Both teams were extremely hardworking, well-staffed, and clearly experienced. They used the right tools and equipment to work efficiently without sacrificing quality, often putting in long hours to keep things moving. Paradise Designs coordinated seamlessly with a wide range of other trades and vendors, including electricians, a general contractor, shade structure specialists, the spa and crane team, the gardener responsible for irrigation and planting, quartzite countertop fabrication, and multiple product suppliers. Everyone they worked with commented on how easy and helpful Paradise Designs was to collaborate with. Despite multiple project delays due to weather, permitting, and manufacturer delivery issues, none of the delays were caused by Paradise Designs. Throughout the project, they were easy to schedule, quick to respond, and always available when questions or changes came up. Any issues that arose were fixed quickly, correctly, and professionally. The scope of work was extensive and included a sunken vault for a Bullfrog spa with a sump pump and beautiful TimberTech framing, a large porcelain-tile patio with integrated drainage, including footings for a shade structure and a new sliding panel back door, new gas and water lines, and completely updated drainage. The project also included a large L-shaped outdoor kitchen with quartzite countertops and porcelain siding, a fire pit and lounging area, a cantilevered umbrella set in concrete, and several thoughtful custom touches that make the space both functional and elegant. Pricing was fair and transparent, with no surprises. The only cost increases were due to our own change orders as we decided to add more features. Don was always responsive to changes and helped us think through decisions so we felt confident in every choice. We would absolutely use Paradise Designs again for future projects and can't recommend them highly enough.

Our project involved a new driveway, several retaining walls, flag stone, leveling the yard, drainage, irrigation and planting. We had a general idea of what we were looking for, but Roland made the process easy to take our ideas and turn them into a finished product. Given his years of doing this he was also a good one to enhance what we we wanted to do, or alternatively tell us "that is not a good idea". We were on a timeline to get the job done and he was able to deliver. One thing that is really helpful with Newland Landscape is that he has multiple crews working. This allows him to shift resources around as needed. I think we had people at the house working every day, and some Saturdays. In our experience this is a rariety with many contractors. We had to do our work as well, staying ahead of him picking out materials, plants, etc. but with that he was able to stay on track with our need. I would highly recommend Roland and Newland landscape for medium to large jobs.
