We recently completed a large, complex backyard project with Paradise Designs, and we couldn't be happier with the results. From the very beginning, Don worked closely with us to establish a clear vision and design, patiently incorporating many revisions as we refined what we wanted. His responsiveness and guidance throughout the design process were outstanding. Once the design was finalized, Paradise Designs brought in two large, highly professional crews--one focused on hardscape and another on trenching, digging, and drainage. Both teams were extremely hardworking, well-staffed, and clearly experienced. They used the right tools and equipment to work efficiently without sacrificing quality, often putting in long hours to keep things moving. Paradise Designs coordinated seamlessly with a wide range of other trades and vendors, including electricians, a general contractor, shade structure specialists, the spa and crane team, the gardener responsible for irrigation and planting, quartzite countertop fabrication, and multiple product suppliers. Everyone they worked with commented on how easy and helpful Paradise Designs was to collaborate with. Despite multiple project delays due to weather, permitting, and manufacturer delivery issues, none of the delays were caused by Paradise Designs. Throughout the project, they were easy to schedule, quick to respond, and always available when questions or changes came up. Any issues that arose were fixed quickly, correctly, and professionally. The scope of work was extensive and included a sunken vault for a Bullfrog spa with a sump pump and beautiful TimberTech framing, a large porcelain-tile patio with integrated drainage, including footings for a shade structure and a new sliding panel back door, new gas and water lines, and completely updated drainage. The project also included a large L-shaped outdoor kitchen with quartzite countertops and porcelain siding, a fire pit and lounging area, a cantilevered umbrella set in concrete, and several thoughtful custom touches that make the space both functional and elegant. Pricing was fair and transparent, with no surprises. The only cost increases were due to our own change orders as we decided to add more features. Don was always responsive to changes and helped us think through decisions so we felt confident in every choice. We would absolutely use Paradise Designs again for future projects and can't recommend them highly enough. read more

Paradise Designs recently completed re-landscaping the back slope at our home. The owner worked with us on design, and the crew made quick work of removing the old plants (and weeds) and trees, placing new top soil, repairing the sprinkler system and converting it to drip irrigation for the new plants and trees, with a top coat of mulch. We have been receiving weekly maintenance service. The gardeners themselves, do a nice job. The receptionist is kind when you call in to make a payment or have a question. With that said, accounting is unable to provide accurate invoices when requested and the invoice numbers they provide do not match what is on the mailed invoice received. Additionally, we have not received service in two weeks, but have paid for the full month. It has become a challenge to know what we are paying for and if we are receiving the service we agreed to. read more

Wow! These guys are expensive. I contacted them for monthly maintenance. Bryce came out to give me an estimate. He was very nice, professional and knowledgeable. I was so excited that I finally found the right company. My yard isn't that big, there is no grass in my backyard. It's 80% pavers and pool. Granted, the 20% of landscape is dense with shrubs and plants around the edge of the yard. Front yard is tiny, plus my neighbor mows the strip of grass I do have in the front yard. I received the estimate later in the afternoon. $460 a month! $115 a week for 75 minutes of service. Unless they are sprinkling gold around the yard, that's way too much to pay for lawn work. He also offered a service called a "tune-up" where they come out and tidy everything up, trim and separate ground covers, tame the shrubs, remove and replace dead plants, etc. Great idea. I decided to ask for a price for that, since I'm not going to use them for monthly maintenance. The proposal was $740!!! The second I saw that, I immediately contacted them to say thanks but no thanks. I'm so disappointed. I really wanted to use their services. read more

Disappointed. Definitely would not recommend. We told them our concerns of the plants suggested on the hillside due to rabbits. No one listened. Needless to say rabbits ate them all. Also, we have irrigation issues which some were resolved, thank you. But zone 1 resulted in a hugh leak in 3 months now we have a crack in the concrete sidewalk and irrigation dippers that can't be used. They capped off to fix, less expensive. Was told concrete cracks and they were surprised that no stress lines were done. 1 of 4 trees died on hillside was told it was due to glare from window. Checked on the tree which I feel was not planted deep enough since it came right out. Yes, I only mentioned the disappointing issues. On a positive note, the crew was pleasant and hard working. And most of the plants are surviving and look nice. Moving onward. read more

I recently changed from an independent gardener I had used for many years because over time the results got worse and worse. I am so happy to have found Paradise Maintenance to take care of my yard. Roberto and Ryan and crew have been wonderful to work with. Instead of one guy with pretty much a rake and blower, I now have a crew of 3 landscape professionals that come each week and can do anything from identifying what is eating my plants to clearing out my outdoor drains, to installing the latest sprinkler system sensors to save water and save money. I wanted to hire this company for my house landscape maintenance, and it took 3 phone calls to finally get an appointment, when the field supervisor, Jeff, showed up, he did spend some time to check the irrigation system and took a lot of notes, and told me that he will send me a proposal for the services and cost. This was almost 3 weeks ago and in spite of phone calls and e-mails, he never got back to me! obviously, if this company treats the prospective customer like this, then who knows how they would respond to the issues after one hires them! Of course I hired another company's services and so far I am very happy with them. so my advise is to stay away! read more

Well Tom, that response had very little truth to it. The person you sent to service us, Paul Daniel, left a number of your customers in the lurch. He did not design with quantities, details, or even blue prints. He then left your firm and you pretty much left the affected customers unserviced. On our project, your people did not plant according to usual standards, which is why the plants died. The holes dug barely accommodated the root balls, and watering was not done properly. There was no soil preparation on this slope, no deep watering prior to planting, no proper holes with sides scored, no soaking of holes prior to placing plants, etc. These are steps required for success with the California native plants. The hill is still a mess and you have not once bothered to speak to us. I would say that perhaps the quality depends on who you get assigned to you to do the work at Paradise, but since you are aware of how much trouble we had and you have not attempted to rectify it yourself as a business owner, then I would say that the challenges rise all the way to the top. read more

When my husband and I moved to Orange County over 20 years ago, the home we bought needed work done on the landscape, so we hired this company and they did a WONDERFUL job. Not only did they take care of the landscape, but also put in a beautiful new driveway because the other one was just too plain for words. They also put some very nice stone work in the back yard to make it much more attractive and put in a built in barbecue. No mess was made because all their workers were very tidy. The people who own the company are so honest that I gave them a key to our home, so one can get into the garage to adjust the sprinkling system, if necessary, and NOTHING has ever been taken. They have been taking care of this property, weekly, for a number of years and we get nothing but compliments about the upkeep. They also decorate for Christmas and people stop to look at the wonderful job they have done. read more

We had the pleasure of working with Jeff Garton at Paradise Designs, 18 years ago. He designed our pool, barbecue, hardscape and soft scape in our backyard and to this day, everything still works like a charm, including our outdoor lighting! Paradise Designs staff was very professional and knew what they were doing. No short cuts were taken in their construction and Jeff was very thorough with his design concepts which were both functional and attractive. Jeff came by the job site almost every day to make sure things were going smoothly.
