Ok, not that I a critic when it comes to food, especially since I'm not preparing it. So that being said I really wanted since this was a return to this establishment to be impressed. It fell short unfortunately. The Combination Lo Mein was bland and my friend Vegetable dish wasn't to exciting either. Can't complain about the prices however if you're satisfied with this establishment, more power to you. read more

Not sure if my experience was out of the ordinary, we've only offered from Ming's once. To sum it up in one word... GREASY. Now Chinese food is always a bit greasy, but this was like swimming in, another level of grease! I order egg foo young with beef, wasn't bad, wasn't great but overall it was quite bland, like the salt was missing or something. It did the job. My wife order shrimp fried rice, this was greasier then I'm used to but it was really good, I'd recommend it. We ordered egg rolls and honestly they weren't even edible they were so dripping with grease. Would I go back, probably not but living in Hickory Hill the location is pretty great. 3/5 stars, very average. read more

I don't understand all the 5-star reviews of this place. I went in for lunch around 2:00 on a Wednesday, and it was some of the worst Chinese-American food I have EVER had. I ordered Ming's Beef, Chicken Wings, and Lo Mein. All were incredibly greasy - prime examples of food that does not make you feel good after you eat it. Now, I don't consider most 'Chinese" food to be incredibly healthy, but you really have to not care about your job in order to produce food this bad. Judging by the front of house employees' reactions when I shared my feelings, as well as the cooks eating their lunch as I left, I would say "not caring" is an accurate sentiment here. The beef was the worst; it had an odd chalky, mushy texture that extended to the whole dish. I'm guessing they tried to velvet it in cornstarch but fried it at too low a temperature, so a fine residue of uncooked starch was present instead of a nice, light, crispy coating on the meat as intended. Also, the carrots in the dish tasted like they were stored next to the cleaning chemicals. The lo mein would have been average to good if they had mixed less oil into the oyster sauce used they were tossed with. Then again, this is a hard thing to screw up if you are trying at all (and they obviously weren't). The chicken wings were nicely breaded, and from some sort of giant super-chickens. Literally, each wing was the size of 3-4 average-sized wings; I'm not sure where they're getting these things. Sadly, they tasted old and woody, like they were cooked a few days earlier and just reheated. I'd say this is highly likely, since they came out in about 3 minutes. Plus, even for fried chicken, they were greasy. Worst of all, there was no sauce of any kind offered. I had to make do with the super-watery versions of Sweet and Sour Sauce and Soy Sauce present on the table. For your average Chinese restaurant, I thought the atmosphere was fine. I had to try three entrance doors before I found one that was open - I should have taken that as a sign before I sat down. Also, this seems to be a hangout for students from the high school just down the street. I could have done without all of the cell phones, sex talk, gossip, etc. that was overheard... but then again, this would have been totally forgivable if the food had been halfway decent. The only redeeming quality here is that the food is really cheap. All of the above set me back $8.40. Four giant chicken wings for $1.60? That would be a great deal if they were tasty. Sadly, none of the ingredients this place is using are even of average quality. Poor-quality food should be cheap. If you are cash-strapped, this may be a good place to go, but if you care about what you put into your body AT ALL, stay away! read more

Okay so I read another guys review and when i realized it was on my way to work - I was excited to try it. From the outside - the place is a dive, inside, a little better, but I think most of us would say - it's the atmosphere. I was frustrated with the inability to use a card, but the prices are low enough - the couple of times I have been there - the service is so good - that I want to stay there as opposed to getting my food to go. Let's be honest, if you've been to Ming's, you KNOW it's not very good food. It's apparent to anyone who eats here that you're not dining on the freshest and finest ingredients, you're not sampling the work of someone with feverish passion for cooking, and you're not experiencing authentic Chinese cuisine. Think of Ming's as an American-Chinese version of some other fast food non-chain joint, and you've about got it. The Szechuan Beef is very tasty, though it's much sweeter than any beef I've gotten from other places. A couple recommendations: 1. Go with cash. Last time I ate there they STILL hadn't gotten a credit card machine, so it's cash or nothing. 2. Don't bother asking for special orders. I've never actually received my order with extra anything, even though I paid for it. Truth be told, I don't bother eating here anymore. As a high-school student I followed the crowds here and never knew any better. Now that I'm older and wiser, though, I realize that Dragon Cafe is right up the road and is cleaner, nicer, and has better food for similar prices. Well I'm looking for positives here but I can't think of much. The staff was kind of nice however when I told them that the soy sauce was rancid the response was "I've never had any complaints before it must just be you". I think probably sums up my experience. The food was cooked which is good and I ordered the Kung pao beef because according to the menu it had the most vegetables. However I had sliver of a carrot and two pieces of celery. Mostly it was just onion. The food was extremely salty and the soy sauce was just rancid or terrible not sure which. They say it's their own soy sauce so not sure what that means. However the disguise it in kikkoman bottles but I was not fooled. Regardless of the food quality the floor was filthy and the tables were Fastfood table top clean. The ambiance is what you would expect at a Fastfood place. However they have a wait staff so I'm not sure what to think. This place deserves 10 stars! By far, my favorite Chinese restaurant around Omaha. My husband and I have been getting takeout from Ming's since 2006. It is a casual diner atmosphere inside so we have never dined in, but take out is a breeze. Today I walked in at 4:58 PM, placed my order, and walked out with it hot and fresh at 5:07 PM. Even after we moved about 20 minutes away to Bellevue, we still drive out here to pick up dinner over any other Chinese options closer to our house in Bellevue. I love the Mongolian chicken and my husband enjoys the "Yum Yum" chicken which is their version of General Tso's. The crab Rangoons are better than anywhere else!!! Give this place a try and you will be hooked! I can't wait for the day when they decide to be open on Sundays!!! I am a real estate agent and seem to always be driving around town Sunday evenings after showing houses, wishing I could bring home some Ming's! Ming's has consistently offered tasty Chinese food at very reasonable prices. I have patronized Ming's for many years now, and I hope they never change their business practice. The best thing about Ming's is the speed at which you receive your food. It may be too fast in some cases. All of their food is served very hot and is excellent by "American-ized" Chinese food standards. They only accept cash or check, so you can't use a credit/debit card here. read more

First, this 5 star review is completely subjective. I understand the complaints in many of the 1 star reviews. Some are kind of silly and others are legit. For example, people will praise Ming's for being cheap and affordable. Then they will complain that it is cash only. HELLO! That's a big reason it's cheap. By not taking credit cards, they remove the mandatory credit card fee from the price of their meals. Many credit cards charge 2-3% plus a transaction fee of up to 50 cents. Mings removes this fee and passes the saving on to the consumer! This makes their meals nearly a dollar cheaper than their competitors. This is a good thing. Is it the most convenient? No, but if you know it going in, it's not a big deal. I think most people who have a panic attack about this are probably first timers caught off guard. And for those people, I do have sympathy. Second. Many people say the food is delicious. Some say it is too greasy. Most everyone mentions how absolutely fast the food comes out. This is all the same thing. Grease is hot. It cooks food FAST. So if you want food to cook fast, you find ways to cook it in hot oils. This also tends to make it "greasy". Well, some people, like me think these foods taste good. French fries taste good. Onion rings taste good. Doughnuts taste good. These are all foods that cook fast in oil and are delicious. Well, you can add Ming's to that list. They cook a lot in oil and woks and they make good food doing it. But if you don't like greasy food, you might not like Ming's. It's a personal taste issue, not a quality issue. Last. Most everyone mentions the friendly service. This is nearly unanimous. I'll just come out and say it. Mings has some of the cutest and friendliest waitresses in town. They smile and enjoy chit chat and are simply pleasant to interact with. Some days I go there just to visit with the super nice wait staff. The yummy chinese food served up in under 2 minutes is just a bonus. So, yeah, I get the complaints. You may even agree with them. But don't let that mean this place is not good. It IS good. It's just maybe not right for everyone. If you want high brow chinese, or more healthy/lean style cooking, or every possible convenience, Mings is simply not for you. But if you want low cost, fast, yummy (if you're ok with food cooked in oil) chinese/american food, then Ming's is honestly pretty great. read more

But portions have shrunken, flavors have become weak, the items from the fryer always taste as though the oil is old, and the owner encourages firearms to be carried while people sit to eat, and I don't feel safe around people with unknown skill who are armed. My boyfriend and went here for dinner tonight. We ordered our food and began to eat, as I was about to take a bit of my beef lo mien I see a dead bug on my fork mixed in with the noodles. I'm not the type of person that will make a big scene about stuff at restaurants but, I believe that was absolutely disgusting.
