Two things immediately tell me whether a Chinese restaurant stands out from the rest: the egg drop soup and the white rice. Thankfully, this place delivered on both. The egg drop soup was excellent. The broth was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor, with a perfect balance of egg and broth in every spoonful. The white rice was nearly perfect as well. The grains were light, distinct, and had that slightly dry, fluffy texture that makes great Chinese food even better. It was very close to being exactly how I like it. I ordered the Pepper Beef with a chicken egg roll on the side. The beef was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The egg roll was another highlight, with an incredibly flaky, crispy exterior and a delicious filling. My wife ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken without the sauce, along with Crab Rangoon. The chicken was tender and flavorful on its own, but the breading was what really stood out. It was some of the best we've had, perfectly crispy and light without feeling greasy. The Crab Rangoon was exactly how we like it: heavy on the cream cheese, with a nice amount of crab and minimal onion. Everything that was fried came out exceptionally crispy and flaky, which speaks to the kitchen's consistency and attention to detail. The only item that wasn't quite for me was the chili oil. It leaned heavily toward vinegar, which isn't my personal preference, but others may enjoy it. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. Great food, excellent textures, and several standout dishes. Good-crab ragoons are tasty and crispy Bad/ugly -ordered a shrimp entree with side of LowMein opened it when I got home to see what my husband got ... it looked like soup. I have eaten or picked up takeout here far more than i have remembered to check in. The staff is always friendly and the food great with occasional menu changes. My last take out was the Curry Beef and ordering online i saw there was a carolina reaper option and how many times to make it hot. I like hot foods so i wanted to test it out. This dish did not disappoint and i loved it! Although it may make your surroundings smell a bit funky from the powerful ingredients. It was fun having other people who "like" hot food try it out and yelp with pain hahaha! I used to grown my own reapers and this satisfied that itch for awhile. Tried on a whim and really enjoyed it for lunch! I went with the Kung Pao chicken. It wasn't too spicy, and I could have handled more but it had good flavor. The portion sizes were great, and it also came with a soup or crab ragoons. Inside was clean, nothing fancy, but perfect for lunch. Definitely seems like Nebraskan take on Chinese food, but I don't mean that as a slight. I will be back for lunch in the future! read more

How have I not reviewed this yet? We come here frequently. Family favorites are the General Tsos, Peanut Butter Chicken, Hot and Sour Soup, and Lo Main. We also like the Volcanic Beef, Egg Foo Young, Cheesecake Egg Rolls, or sometimes they'll have Jalapeno Brisket Crab Rangoons. Generals and PB Chicken are sweeter dishes with thick homemade sauces. Fried items are fresh and crisp. One of the owners, John, has ran successful restaurants for over a decade and is ALWAYS there. He'll recall your favorites and suggest new items you might like (how we got on the PB Chicken). The family meals are good size and can easily feed a coupe of us for approximately $15. Went during Christmas Eve. That part is my fault, I should have considered how busy they would be. Despite that though, some were definitely getting better service than others. Very little updates were provided for the several folks waiting. We were told "20 more minutes" 3 separate times. I'm very sad about what a terrible experience I had here Friday night. I've always had great experiences but this last time was far from that. We decided to order take out instead of eating there because we had a movie to go to. There were about 6 tables in there so moderately busy. We ordered to go at the front and were told about 20-25 minute wait which I didn't mind that's a normal wait time. A few more tables came in after us as well as a few people ordering to go after us at the front. After 25 minutes the restaurant empties out quite a bit. About 2 tables waiting on food the restaurant empties leaving people waiting on to gos. After 30 minutes and people walking in who ordered to go beforehand were told an extra 20-25 minutes because they were busy with an empty restaurant we finally asked about our food. We were told another 5 minutes that our food was next on the list to be made. Which was completely not true. We watched tables and people who were behind us in line receive their food. Big groups as well as bigger to go orders. We ordered two entrees and that's it. When it finally hit 45 minutes we were visibly upset. Our movie had started down the street and we were still waiting in a basically empty restaurant. A guy who came in after us was complaining saying he wanted his money back since he had to wait 30+ minutes and wasn't waiting any longer. After everyone received their food we finally went up there asking for a refund because of the almost hour wait and being told before we were next after watching everyone get their to go order before us. They reached back and grabbed our food that was behind them sitting there for 5-10 minutes!!! I'm sorry but if you have to keep asking us our name on the order while trying to hand us someone else's food then lie saying we're next to receive our food but make us wait for 45 minutes you probably should not be handling peoples orders. This was the most chaotic and disappointing experience and we will not be returning. I have never waited for a to go order that long in a restaurant that wasn't even full! read more

This is an Americanized version of Asian cuisine. My first alert which should have told me to leave was there were no Asians working the counter or inside the restaurant. 2nd clue was there were 0 Asian decor, no Buddha's, no lucky Asian cat, no Asian artwork. Finally the food, the hot and sour soup was extremely thick and the taste super sweet, not tasty at all. The General Chicken was thick in sauce and sweet, not very good at all. Tasted more like an American dish. The price for a large order is pretty high, I can find it cheaper in other spots, get the same amount, but for less. Some of you may enjoy Americanized versions of Chinese food, as for me, it's a place I will not patron again read more

I've been in twice now to grab lunch to-go and overall have been very pleased. Both times, my chicken dishes were crispy and hot, ready in under 15 minutes, and the portion sizes were what I expected for the price. My only critique is of the veggies in my Firecracker Chicken - there was a major lack, no pineapple or carrots, and my snowpeas were cooked to death and then cooked some more. (Though to be honest, I'd rather have a lack of veggies than more veggies than chicken...) Peanut Butter Chicken was BOMB. Glad to welcome a new restaurant to the Twincreek Shoppimg Center. The Happy Buddha's Asian Cuisine. Owner is the same who had the Golden Bowl in Bellevue. So if you liked that you will probably like this. Not an overly large place with just the basics. Order at the counter, get your number and the staff will bring your order to the table. Only 6-7 booths and a similar number of 4 top tables. Fills up quick. Actually had visited before and it was packed with nowhere to sit. Menu has a good selection beef, chicken, pork, shrimp and noodle dishes. You can get either a single or large plate. All plates come with your choice of crab rangoons or soup. For an up charge of $1, you can get an egg roll. Also you get a 3% discount if you pay with cash. Mentioned earlier, it is really basic. Food comes out on styrofoam plates and all cutlery is plastic. Decided to go with the single plate of General Tso's Chicken with fried rice and crab rangoon. Chicken was good and rice, crab rangoon was not my favorite. Overall price with soft drink was $16.00. Definitely a decent place to eat. Come and check it out. Last thing to be aware of, as it gets colder, the tables are right in front of the door and there is no wind break. Happy Buddha is a slightly-above-average Chinese restaurant. I've ordered take-out three times in the last few months. Service: Ordering over the phone has been easy, with no language barriers. Staff have been cheerful, polite, and efficient. Menu: They offer the same Americanized Chinese dishes as most other Chinese restaurants. They also offer a handful of signature dishes. Watch the website for daily specials, which are more likely to be creative fusion dishes. Food: The flavor has been good, but nothing noteworthy. There's a good balance between veggies and meat. On one visit, the egg rolls were crisp and tender; on my last visit they were hard on the end and tough in the middle. Hygiene: The restaurant is quite clean. I like the fact that I can see into the kitchen, and I didn't notice anything disturbing. That said, I did find a hair in my fried rice. Nebraska isn't very strict about hair nets in the kitchen, so I guess that's to be expected from time to time. What else to know: Fried rice seems to be the default. read more

From walking in you are greeted, the staff was very friendly! The decor was minimal but you don't need all that stuff when the food tastes as good as it did! My wife ordered the peanut butter chicken and split the large with our two boys! The peanut butter flavor was outstanding. My wife said it was the best she has ever had and she orders peanut butter every where she goes! My daughter ordered the chicken fried rice and that was delicious too! I had the shrimp Hunan and it had a nice spice to it. The shrimp was big and there were plenty of them! Which was nice to see since normally the shrimp is small and barely any at other places. Everything was amazing from the egg rolls and Crab Rangoon's! Even though it's a drive from Omaha, this will be our new Chinese restaurant! read more

I finally got to stop in and try Happy Buddha's Asian Cuisine and it did not disappoint. When you walk in, you go to the counter and order your food and then choose a seat. They have tables with chairs or booths. They will bring the food out to you. You fill your drink, get your plastic silverware, napkins, condiments, and your fortune cookie. Items are served styrofoam and doesn't have traditional tableware, but that's OK. I ordered sweet-and-sour chicken with the sauce on the side and it came with fried rice and two crab Rangoon. I love their sweet-and-sour sauce. It is thick and not watered down like I find many other places make theirs. The white meat chicken had a light batter that was crispy and everything was hot and delicious. I really enjoy their fried rice and the Crab Rangoon was creamy and sweet. The restaurant was clean and service was fast. When the owner had Golden Bowl, we used to eat there all the time. Sadly, it took a while for us to visit his new restaurant with his new co-owner, but I'm glad we finally got to try it as I definitely missed it! Two days later, I went to eat with my other son. It was just as amazing! I ate the same as previously, and my son had the Sesame chicken and we also tried the apple pie eggrolls. Delicious! Pro tip: Order the large, so you can have lots of leftovers to take home. It's definitely worth it for just a couple dollars more. read more

What a hidden gem! I'm pregnant and was craving Chinese and this place hit the spot for me. Service: 10/10, the two guys working the registers were very kind and made friendly conversation. They called every customer ordering maam/sir and as a southern girl I appreciated it! Space: 10/10 very clean! The bathroom was also clean and fully stocked. Food: 1000/10. The orange chicken was PIPING hot and very crispy! I got the large because duh ($2 more that regular) and I wanted leftovers. I definitely have leftovers now! The white rice was fine, no complaints. My orange chicken came with two crab rangoons. They were good! My only suggestion: provide a ramekin for the sauce for the crab rangoons instead of just having it in a squeeze bottle. read more

I'm pretty sure this place just opened not too long ago, and it's right down the street from where I live. So I had to give it try. SERVICE: Service was great! From the call in to the pick up the service was fantastic. Super friendly, very outgoing, and helpful the entire way. The highlight of the trip! FOOD: Not the best I've had. The rice was dry and tasted like it had been sitting around too long. Chicken wasn't bad and the sauce was good. Portion sizes are much smaller than all over Chinese places in the area. Although it did come with two rangoons so that was nice! AMBIANCE: Ok so...I feel when you go to an international restaurant there should be a level of immersion. Like when you go to a great Mexican place I love seeing cultural pieces like designs around the restaurant, or the staff being from the area and giving you a taste of their language while ordering. It's obviously not a requirement to be a good restaurant, but I like the vibe it gives. I didn't get that from this place. I felt it could have equally been a hamburger shop and I would never have known the difference. I've only been here once and I always say, I'll try anything twice! This will be an initial review so I'll take in consideration that the place is still getting settled from opening day. The menu is your typical categorized Chinese menu. You order at the counter and find your table after ordering. I recommend their Mongolian Beef and their Honey Walnut Shrimp. The staff are pretty responsive and helpful. The place is not big, and recommend getting in the booths if available. Now for my critical comment... I don't think plasticware are appropriate if you're dining in and want to enjoy a good lunch/dinner. I hope that this is just temporary, as I can't see myself enjoying dinner with styrofoam plates and plastic forks. read more

I don't normally post a review without photos, but I'm making an exception tonight. Happy Buddha's opened yesterday and I had lunch. I had the combination fried rice and it was legit. The beef, pork and chicken were tender and flavorful. The shrimp was the star of the show. Not the skimpy little ones, but huge fresh and delicious. One day wasn't enough. Went back for dinner this evening and was not disappointed. The hot and sour soup is the best in the metro, if not the US. The crab ragoons were light and air and the filling a creamy delectable treat. Ordered one of my favs from John's previous restaurant, not on menu, and he was more than happy to make it. The Moo Shu Pork is soooo good. So missed John's old restaurant and this is like an early Christmas gift. Our family has ordered takeout a few times here and after trying a few different Chinese restaurants, this is definitely our go to. Online ordering is really easy and highly customizable which I appreciate, especially with 2 kiddos who are picky at best. The last time we ordered takeout, upon getting home had realize the order was missing a rice with one of the entree. First time ordering here. Food was all good. The honey walnut shrimp was the best I've ever had. The sweet and sour chicken was typical but I thought the actual chicken was rather dry on the inside it was more sweet than anything. Chicken lo mein was kid approved. Chicken and broccoli had great flavor. Egg rolls were average. And crab Rangoon's was my least favorite here just cream cheese in a wrap not very flavorful IMO. read more

Website and the ability to modify orders is an A+. That said, I have to agree with some of the comments about the food being oddly sweet or generally bland. The crab rangoon and grilled meats were both pretty tasteless. The lo mein was very sweet for some reason, which made it difficult to eat. The flavor just didn't go well with the meat and vegetables in the dish. I've honestly never had lo mein taste like that before. Portions were a little small for the price, but not egregiously so. Met a group here for dinner. Service was fantastic, ordering was easy, and there was plenty of room for your group. I was disappointed in the generals chicken, menu said it was spicy and there was no hint of spice in it at all. I would have asked for spice if I had known it wasn't. I really wanted the chicken and snow peas but they were out of snow peas. Portion sizes for the small were good but if you want leftovers order the large. I also didn't know I could get soup instead of crab Rangoon which I totally would have done! I wish the kid taking my order would have mentioned that!. Ordered delivery on a Saturday night when we didn't feel like leaving the house to get take out. At first the confirmation said it would be a 1 hr 15 min before delivery, but it was actually delivered within 20 minutes after ordering. We ordered Peanut Butter Chicken, Beef and Broccoli, Crab Rangoon, and Hot and Sour soup. All were very tasty, especially the Rangoon. Maybe not the best food ever, but would definitely order delivery again. I look forward to trying more dishes. read more
