This place took advantage of my elderly parents. They brought their Mini Cooper S into service and they charged them $7,000 for a timing chain and coolant service on a car that is only worth about $5,000. Shame In You! This place has no ethics. Don't bring your vehicle here. read more

First time going to Sharpe to look at a used mini cooper. I made an appointment with Shaun. When I arrived the car was still outside. When I met Shaun, he wasn't even sure what car I wanted to look at even though I emailed him and confirmed it. He didn't know the history of the car when I shared the car fax info with him. The car wasn't cleaned or detailed. And Shaun stated they wouldn't run it through the car wash and weren't going pay to have someone hand wash it. He let me walk out of the dealership in less than 5 minutes of being there without any effort. Almost like I was wasting his time. I have never felt so unimportant by a dealership. But that makes sense to me now, since I learned they aren't paid based on commission, so they can treat first time potential buyers so poorly - because they are going to get paid whether they make a sale or not. What a terrible first impression on their part. Definitely, would not recommend Sharpe Mini because of this poor experience. read more

post covid service appointment went VERY well. dropped the car off the night prior. got a text message when checked in (no signing of anything). got a text message when my inspection was ready, and, a link to a video that detailed the inspection - very cool. when done, another text message and ability to pay online. mostly contactless pickup. very friendly staff. great communications. I have a 2012 mini cooper convertible, manual.... they are really respectful of repairs I don't want to do due to the age/milage of the car. read more

We got our 2013 Mini Cooper here and the staff was pretty helpful. We got a decent trade in value for our previous Mini Cooper S and they even threw in racing stripes on the new one. Overall, the customer service of this place is above average for a dealership. When you need to bring your car in to be serviced, they loan you out another on their lot. read more

After six years of working with this dealership, I would give them a solid thumbs up! I leased two cars back to back. The sales and service staff are all great to work with. The free roadside assistance and towing came in handy multiple times when I gashed tires on MI roads. Mini Coopers are so much fun to drive and the all wheel drive versions handle very well in Michigan winters. The only negative that I experienced is that some repair parts are not kept in stock. Many repairs require an initial appointment and then a separate repair appointment on another date after parts arrive. This could be an inconvenience for someone living far from the dealership. However, that is a tradeoff comes with choosing a small niche market car. Definitely take the time to drive one of these cars if you have never had the chance. read more

Worst experience ever. They have a full sales funnel that uses covid19 as excuse to limit you to 1-2 cars only to view, then decide. They spout they are not on commission and because of that, they DON'T CARE about a sale. When I had appt at 130, I was there at 1:15, sat until 1:45, no one helped just stood inside. This is a HORRIBLE Horrible dealer, find another Mini Cooper dealer if you must buy a mini (great car - bad dealer). Cash customer moving on. read more

Was driving through Grand Rapids last week from Indianapolis to St. Ignace, and stopped in because my Mini Cooper needed windshield fluid. I asked if they could get me in quickly - they not only pulled my car in right away, but they did not charge me for the top off of the wiper fluid. Staff was amazing. I really enjoyed my experience at GR mini! Joe was low pressure and very informative. I have bought a lot of cars in the past and I can honestly say that this was the best experience yet. I feel like I got a good price and my mini is so fun to drive. The general manager was also very nice to talk to. He was low pressure but ready to help us make a deal. I will definitely be back. My husband has always driven a truck but now he is talking about a mini of his own. May be back sooner than I thought. read more

Buyer beware, I bought a used, as is, automatic Mini Cooper S, with 50,000 miles on it from this dealer. When driving the car I noted that some of the lower shifts felt a tiny bit harder. I asked and they said because it was a S the car is supposed to shift with a more sporty feel. That was a flat out lie. On the way home once the car warmed up, shifts 2 to 3 were starting to slip, and it was obvious. Called 10 min off the lot, and after a lot of running around with them they told us we bought it as is and couldn't help us even through they sold us a non drivable car!! Either, this dealer is dishonest and hack fixes cars just enough to get them a few miles down the road, or is extremely negligent on checking used cars. You take your pick. read more

Initially, I took my 2005 Mini convertible to Mini of Grand Rapids with an inoperative top, but functioning sun roof for a diagnosis. $300 later it was returned with an in-op sunroof, with bent components that weren't bent before in the sun roof cassette. Their attitude was, 'too damn bad.' I moved to Portland, Oregon and with summer coming I decided to take it to Mini of Portland for further diagnosis. Verdict; components of the sunroof cassette (a $6,000 item) were bent beyond repair. I want to repeat that the sunroof functioned, and had no bent components when I took it to Mini of GR. They bent it and didn't have the ethics to own up to the damage their tech caused. My experience at Portland Mini couldn't have been more different. They gave me a 2015 Mini Cooper S to drive, kept the car for three days, reviewed recall/TSBs information, all very professional. In my 45 years of driving I have NEVER been treated better by a dealer. read more

I have had my Mini Cooper for 7 years and been to at least 5 different Mini dealers in this time. The service department at this Mini is the very worst I have ever experienced. If you love your mini as much as I do, do not take it to this place. Awful service! read more

As far as used cars go I bought a used 2010 MINI and within 1.5 months I had several lights and common tune-up issues. I took it to them and they did not help in any way because the vehicle had over 75,000 miles. I said that it should be common when they get a vehicle in from a trade-in to do an inspection and tune-up before reselling a vehicle, the 24 pt. inspection etc... Basically, because I wasn't a high dollar new purchase they did not help in any way. Extremely expensive for a simple 5 minute maintenance procedure as well. I'm not sure about purchasing a new vehicle from MINI of G.R. but my experience there after the initial purchase has been poor. read more

I brought my 2002 MINI Cooper S for evaluation of overheating to MINI of Grand Rapids. The radiator cooling fan was replaced for $600+ and I do not recall being offered the old fan. When the problem recurred I was told it was only a fuse, no charge for replacing it or evidence of my visit. When the car overheated again, I got good at replacing the fuse. On the internet I learned the power steering pump fan and the radiator fan are on the same electrical circuit. If the power steering pump fan goes bad (its underneath the car in the dirt and grime) it blows the fuse and the radiator fan does not operate leading to overheating if you are not moving. After replacing the steering pump fan there have been no further overheating problems. I returned to ask them if they felt any responsibility for the original misdiagnosis. I was told there was nothing they could do for me. I cannot recommend this shop for MINI maintenance or customer service. read more

Let me start with the not insignificant positives: 1) I was able to leave a complaint about service on the dealer site--it was easy to do. 2) The Service Department Manager followed up the same day by phone. 3) She was candid about the issue--no BS and I appreciate that. Now the problem: I commute from the Chicago-area to Benton Harbor and stay in MI all week. Grand Rapids is the closest dealership. I was willing to move my maintenance to Grand Rapids but when I called to make an appointment, I was told the earliest I could get in was three weeks out. I was also told that they are trying to hire more technicians but that they are having a hard time finding them. This may not be the fault of the dealer but the reality is, three weeks out just will not work. By way of contrast, I called my home dealer. Yes, they are ridiculously expensive but I got a time two days from now, my service rep is staying late (on a Friday) to get me checked in and I have a guaranteed loaner that I can even use to commute into MI if the repairs take longer than planned. The people I worked with in Grand Rapids were fine but the ownership clearly has no desire to expand hours, or do whatever it takes to find the right talent to support added hours and being able to reduce wait times to acceptable levels. Given there are few Mini dealerships close by, I suppose there is no perceived urgency to be competitive. I would recommend that anyone in SW MI head to Chicago. You will pay more but you will get a true Mini experience from a service perspective. read more
