There's a survey out there that says 24% of people would rather get a root canal than go to a dealership. I'm happy to say my experience at Mini of Murray was decent. I liked that there was not that awkward process of going into the finance managers office to do the paperwork and the finance manager tries to add extra garbage to the bill and try to up sell everything. Our sales person handled the paperwork which was actually all on an ipad and paperless. Trade in process was ok. They actually talked to some whole sellers to see what they could get for it before giving me a number -- so there was some thought behind the number they gave me. I haven't had any experience with service yet. read more

I hate to give a bad review, I tried to like them, I really tried. The experience of purchasing the car was great. The salesperson, who no longer works there, was fun and knowledgeable. She made sure everything was as promised when the car was delivered. Now for the bad news... The service department is the worst! First off, I'm living in California now, so I come to SLC for service occasionally. In Cali, I always get a loaner car and they always make sure my car's clean when I pick it up, not here. I have to make an appointment a week or more in advance, rarely get a loaner car, they give my car back dirty and as the other reviewer stated, they don't complete the work! What?!? Why would I take the time to make an appointment, rent a car (cause they had none for me to loan) and go over what needed to be done if I didn't want it completed? I also had a big issue with them not covering what my salesperson said was included. I was told that the graphics on my car were included in the boot to bonnet warranty. I had a problem with the checkerboard roof graphic fading. They refused to fix it, saying, 'it only had a two year warranty' because it wasn't original factory equipment. It was on the car that I ordered, I watched it cross the pond, but apparently the dealership installed it in Utah, so the boot to bonnet didn't apply. I had the same issue with the hood stripe which was damaged due to the heat of the s engine. I finally got them to replace it, but It was a real battle. read more

It's a shame that this in the only Mini dealer in surrounding area. You can tell that they have no competition and don't really need to earn your business. I thought that they would be rolling out the red carpet for my business as other "luxury" brands did, but that was not the case. NO room for negotiation or buying perks. I did get a free key chain with my purchase. If I didn't want the Cooper I got so bad I definitely would have gone somewhere else. I saw absolutely no benefit of buying a used Mini from this Mini dealer with the one exception being the remaining warranty through the end of the year. I love my car but I had to tolerate this dealership to get it as I have no other option unless I want to drive 6 hrs. to Las Vegas. Service department could definitely use some training as well as the service advisor had to ask others for the answers to all my questions in a recent service appointment. I hate to be this guy but I had a TERRIBLE experience getting my Mini serviced!!! I live 50 minutes away from the dealership. I made sure to make an appointment so they would be ready for me so I could make the most of my trip to Murray. I needed an abs light to go off, a tire alignment, and for them to fix my back hatch because it wouldn't stay open. I made sure to put these three things notes when I made my appointment. I also told them what I needed done when I got there. They took note of it and said that they would also do a full inspection of my car as well, which I was expecting. I was told that right after they did the inspection they were going to call or text to tell me how much everything would cost and to find out what I wanted them to go ahead and do. I said okay and had family come pick me up. My appointment was for 10:00 in the morning. I heard nothing from the dealership all day!!! I finally contacted them at 4:00 in the afternoon to ask what the status was on my car. Since they didn't contact me I figured they were just working on the few things I had told them about the week before, when I set up my appointment. Finally at 5:00pm they said that they were finishing up and that I should come over. I was excited because I thought that meant they were fixing my car. I mean they did have it for 7 hours at this point, WITH AN APPOINTMENT! So I had my family taxi me back to the dealership. This is the best part... Once I get back to the dealership they tell me everything I wanted them to work on, making it sounds like they actually did something. Then they give me the full inspection report of my car. Then Levi, who was helping me out, says "okay, the part we need to fix your hatch is about $165 (I don't remember the exact price), do you want me to order it for you so we can fix it?" I look at him and say, "What?! You didn't fix it. I thought you were going to text me about that." He then proceeds to tell me that they did absolutely NOTHING to my car! They didn't fix my ABS light, my hatch or do the tire alignment like I wanted. NOTHING! They had my car all day long, without telling me what was going on and the only thing they did was a "full inspection" for me! They, "needed" to inspect it first to see what they needed to work on. This is why I made an appointment a WEEK IN ADVANCE!!! I already told them what I wanted them to work on! I understand doing a full inspection to warn me about things I might not have known about my car so I could come back in later and fix it if I wanted but why couldn't you fix what I originally warned you about? That's why I came in!!! You had my car all day long!!! The best part is, Levi then charges me $106 for this inspection... I have never been more furious at a repair shop! I thought that if I spent the extra money and time actually going to the Mini dealership for my Mini Cooper, I would get better service. NOPE! The funny thing is, I talked to Tony (a salesman) for about an hour, about the possibilities of trading in my Cooper for a new Countryman. I had been doing my research on this decision for quite some time now. I was strongly considering buying a new car from this dealership but after the way I was treated and the zero service done to my Cooper I refuse to go back to them unless I'm compensated, in a big way, for my troubles. read more

This has Been truly my best car buying experience. The staff (everybody buy specially Juan Coles) were very helpful and professional! From the moment I walked in with my family the great attention started. It was 3 mins before closing and I didn't notice because they were able to arrange a drive test and stay late to address all my questions. At the end, there was no pressure at all, they just really focused on my needs. A detailed that I really liked about Juan is that I mentioned that in 4weeks I was closing on my new house and i wanted to finance/lease the MINI, which he immediately adviced to me to wait until closing so that I didn't have any issue with the house. Flawless! I've always wanted a Mini, so while in SLC for a soccer tournament we went for a test drive. Steven was such a great guide explaining all the fun facts about the Clubman! So, as I drove back to MT, Steven sent me the info and financing options on what I was looking for. I had many questions about the new Mini convertible that hadn't arrived in the USA yet and ended up talking to Sarah Olsen. She did research and was able to give me the answers I needed. She took the time I wanted to explain details and even sent videos of the new car. She was patient and knowledgeable but she wasn't pushy. I have never really had a stellar experience here with service. The advisors never seem to be willing to look at anything. They always tell me that its normal operation for that particular model or that they don't see or hear anything different, and yet when I have a courtesy vehicle that is the same model it doesn't seem to experience any issues. I have two MINIs but at this point I think I am just going to go to another dealership. The next closest dealer is Schomp in Denver. Sounds like I will be taking some road trips as long as I keep driving MINI. 2 stars because sales was at least somewhat positive when dealing with the purchase of both cars. If I could give service zero stars I would. I have already contacted MINI USA about my issue and their response was to simply work with the Service Manager, who doesn't seem to understand Service or Management. Looks like I will be switching to another dealership from here on out. Good luck to everyone else who has to deal with this place. read more

Mini of Murray . . . A great dealership! My husband and I were on a vacation driving our 2013 Mini Countryman from Illinois through the upper Northwest. We noticed that we were due for an oil change. I got on my iPhone and discovered there is a Mini dealer in SLC. Made a phone call and spoke to Justin about our travels and asked if we could pop in the next morning for an oil change. Justin said sure, just come by at our convenience. Arrived at the dealership and was greeted by Logan. He treated us like we were the only customers in the dealership. Logan was so accommodating offering us coffee, soda, snacks, etc. All of the employees were extremely nice and the dealership is very nice. We have two Minis and have found all Mini dealerships to be heads above all other brands. It was a pleasure to meet the Mini of Murray service staff! read more

You know, they are the only game in town - heck the state - so they could give mediocre or crappy service and just lean on the awesomeness of the vehicle but they do not. Fair, easygoing and nice. I purchased a brand new Mini Cooper-S in 2007 from Mini of Murray. I was the only driver and happily washed my hands of it recently after having nearly $5000 worth of work on a car that barely had 60,000 miles. When purchasing a Mini, purchase the warranty, don't ask questions just hand over the money, this is also good practice for future visits. The warranty won't cover everything and you feel that every warranty covered repair will come with a significant co-pay, but it covered most of my disasters. Excluded from the warranty was my radio. A crappy radio that cost $1000 to replace by the dealership or I could pay someone else $1200 to re-build the entire dash. The radio began to fail when the radio lights would fade in the heat (roughly three years after purchasing the car). Once I discovered the price I decided I could live without the lights. A little over a year later I couldn't change channels, switch to CD or turn it off. Took it into the dealership and they tell me "we see this all the time." Take off in a loaner that has the exact same radio. For a car company with minimal model changes you think they could focus on the details, think again. Also, purchase the radio when you make the appointment, otherwise it comes with the threat that the radio may be sold before your appointment, which means you will wait longer. Other things to be aware of: If you are a woman be prepared to be treated like an idiot. Like the time I purchased new tires from a tire place, took it to Mini the next day for an oil change where they proceeded to tell me the tires where dangerously bald and should all be replaced. When I pointed out that they were brand new they said "we must have mixed you up with another car." Highly doubt it. Do the polite thing and set up an appointment (meaning you drop it off at 7:30 am and they call you at 4:45 pm telling you the car is almost done) only to have some woman politely call and tell you to come in any time since it should be easy to check. I specifically told her the time I would likely be there and received the cheerful response "that's perfect." Leave your job early so you don't get too close to their closing time (I suspect its 4:30 pm despite what they advertise). They have your car for twenty-minutes and they come over to you and say "Our manager has left..."and the tool we need is locked up for the night, but feel free to come back when it's "convenient for you." I told them what they could do and miraculously, according to their alibi the manager came back just to open the cupboard for me. Oh, could I ever be so lucky?!?! Don't dare offer valid criticism in their surveys, this is severely frowned upon. For instance, the dream of waiting for your car to get the oil changed, be prepared for a phone call lecturing you how the world really works. They really don't care what you say. Don't waste your time. Make an appointment two weeks in advance to replace a tire sensor for them to call me the day before saying that Saturday is not an option since their tire guy would not be in. When I told them I get off at 5:00 pm and could come in after they responded positively. Twenty-minutes later I receive a call saying they wouldn't be able to help me unless I was there by 4:00 pm. Your time means nothing to them. The sad part is that I could have been the most loyal Mini driver. I never shopped around. Mini was the only car I wanted. It was fun drive, but selling it has felt like a burden has been lifted. The number one thing I tell people about selling my Mini is the pure joy of never having to deal with Mini of Murray again. I've had a few times dealing with this dealership. The first is that I owned a Mini Cooper and requested service done, specifically, a service inspection. Their assessment of my car was inaccurate, where they misdiagnosed a sound as my Mini's power steering pump needed replaced. The reality is that it had already been replaced, and didn't need that work. This is one of the most common long term issues with Minis so it ought to be well documented and well understood by the service crew. That's certainly not encouraging, but since I mostly did my own work or went elsewhere, I don't have a long list of service problems with them. The biggest single issue has been the sales team. On several occasions, while shopping for Minis, they simply ignore us. Nobody says anything when we walk in. We were interested at an absolute top of the line Mini, at some 45,000$+ ... but when nobody would help us, obviously that sale wasn't going to happen. Even a simple greeting so we could know who to talk with to actually get started would be great. I've been in there different times over a few years and so I imagine at least most of the team has switched to new people, and yet every time I go in there, they lack even the most basic customer service skills. The team seems aloof and uncaring because they know you're going to go in there for a Mini. They're the only place to get a new one! So you'll just go to them and they don't care if you think they're terrible at their jobs because it won't matter. I love Minis but it's so disheartening to have a car that is not very reliable and overpriced, only to have to deal with a terrible dealership. Every other dealership experience that's been remotely this bad has resulted in me simply not buying my vehicle there and looking somewhere else, and this is ultimately why I will probably never have a new Mini so long as I live in Utah. read more

OK. Let's start at the beginning. If you have caught the MINI bug you need to repeat the following--I MUST GO SEE TONY!! (go ahead now, try it out loud)... Over four years ago I decided I would check out a MINI. Cool car. Great product. I am 6'4" and had many friends suggest "something larger". Whatever. Since I do live on the east side of the state of Washington there are NO dealerships close. Part of the charm and mystery of being a MINI geek I guessed. When I would travel to cities, I would call and ask if the dealership would be willing to send a sales person to drive me around? The answer in Portland OR and in Seattle WA was always NOPE -- (four letter word not usually associated with MINI). Frustrating but not at all fatal since I really did want to take a test drive. Finally took the time when in Portland OR to go to the dealership and spent about 3 hours chatting about features, options, prices and all of that stuff. I found a car there that was one that would have fit (no pun intended) and the sales person (not making this up!) suggested that I would not enjoy a test because it was rush hour. uh...I left. After sleeping on it and having some time the next morning, I took my wife back to the same place, the same guy, the same car (AND NOT RUSH HOUR). He was pretty busy talking on the phone and texting and showed a mild interest. No test drive, no car, no deal. Super frustrating. Eventually I got on the website and discovered another dealership another city. True, over twice as far but I did make a call and get referred to Tony P. Not just a sales guy but an incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, warm human being. O MY WORD! AND R U SERIOUS!! Tony took six full months to text and email me cars and information. Remember, I am just a grouchy voice on the phone 600 miles away. Just before Christmas 2010, Tony sent me a text with attachments of a black on black all tricked out S. WOW. Oh yeah, WOW! I soon flew to SLC, finally met Tony and his boss (super nice guy too) at the old shopworn BMW dealership and I bought the car. NOTE: until I purchased that vehicle, I had never even driven a MINI. Too good to be true. What an absolutely amazing car and experience. By spring, I had returned to purchase another MINI for my wife that Tony had to work to find. The exact car she was looking for, basic, heated seats, color only made the last year that that car was produced and so so cute. Tony did ask if we wanted the windows tinted on her car like mine and I reminded Tony that mine indeed was NOT tinted. Oh...boy. So, like only Tony can, he got in my wife's car-to-be-purchased and met us in Boise, ID. We drove her car back to WA he drove my car back to SLC for tinting and some minor boy tweaks. We were traveling to Seattle two weeks ago so I sent an email to the dealership there and also followed up with a voice mail on the same Sunday to try to schedule my wife's car which was overdue for her service. Having heard nothing by Wednesday, I called over my lunch to try to find out if they were in business or interested. The gal in Service was only interested in what email address I had used and what number I had called because "she gets/returns every email and every phone call". She did not have to insinuate much that it was obviously NOT her problem but good old user error on my part. We ended up getting service in Portland OR and it was really pretty lame. Case in point while there--I showed up at 7AM and it took quite a bit of time (over 20 mins) for them to get rolling. I then got a ride back to the city in the shuttle vehicle (AND I KID U NOT) it was a Honda MINIVAN-soccer-Mom-Mobile. Nice. (they don't get it) Several calls around lunchtime to try to get an ETA on the potential pick up of my wife's car. After an hour and a half I did reach a technician who said that it was not yet done but should be in the next "hour or so". I queried as to what "normal" for an oil service and he said it can sometimes take as long as an hour and a half. Fair enough. But......it is 2:15PM. He explained that he was not the service advisor for my wife's car so he really did not know........ Writing about MINI of Murray-SUPERIOR, THEY GET IT, THEY LIVE OUT THE MINI VIBE. Tony and his boss are ALL OVER THIS STUFF!!! 24/7/365 days year. Knowing that I will drive the extra 300 miles for service, WELL WORTH IT! Case in point--New tires in Missoula in August. I was told that the low tire thingy would go off in 10-15 miles. Not. Called Tony and he easily walked me through the fix (not his job, but...). Say it with me...I MUST GO SEE TONY!! I live in Boise, Idaho and I just bought my wife a 2013 Mini Countryman and the closest dealer is Mini of Murray. The car is basically new except for the buttons on the steering wheel were worn and a piece of trim had a scratch and we needed to buy another key fob. I emailed the service manager Justin to see how much it would cost and to my surprise the steering wheel was under warranty. I was a little concerned driving for 5 hours to have work done on our car and getting back the same day. I did ask Justin if they had a loaner car and he said that wouldn't be a problem. I woke up at 4am and we hit the road and showed up at the service door right as they were opening and we were greeted by Mike Hiatt. Mike is very nice and very helpful and while we were giving all the information to him I told him I also noticed a speaker grate had a scratch on it, there was a young kid Joey sitting there and he jumped up and said lets go look at it and he told me they will get that taken care of for us. We used the loaner car and drove into Salt Lake and hung out for the morning. Both Mike and Joey were fun to talk to and a ton of help. All the work was done by 12:30pm and now my wife's car looks brand new and we got home at 5:30pm. It would be nice to have a mini dealer in Boise but since we don't I'm sure glad that Mini of Murray is the closest because they gave us great service and our next car will be a brand new Mini and they will be getting our business. Having had some expensive repair issues with my Japanese built 2007 model year hybrid vehicle last summer I decided it was time to start looking for a new machine. I had driven my daughter and English son-in-law's Mini Hardtop S several thousand miles between the SF Bay Area and Utah and really loved the sporty handling; alas it was just too small for grand kids, groceries and serious road trips. I had also decided all wheel or four wheel drive was a must. So that pretty much ruled out a Mini UNTIL I was visiting my daughter and son-in-law last summer. We were on the road when I saw my first Countryman All4 S. It was intriguing and I started to research the Countryman along with the Porsche Cayenne, several Subaru styles; I really researched and shopped hard. I hadn't intended to buy "new". Then I read about the John Cooper Works Countryman coming out in 2013. I also read reviews of dealers and Mini motoring advisers (M.A.'s) in my region of the Southwest. I'm located in the Four Corners; smack dab in the middle of Phoenix, Albuquerque, Denver and Salt Lake. In fact; even though I live in Utah Phoenix and Albuquerque are closer than SLC. Having read good reviews of Mini of Murray I decided to check them out. Divine providence led me to JUAN COLES, absolutely the finest Motoring Adviser on the planet. We test drove an "S" and I loved it. BUT; I had my heart set on the JCW model. Juan Coles was zero pressure. My wife was encouraging me to order it right on the spot but I had made myself a promise to sleep on it and decide the following day. The next day I went in and Juan guided me through the build process. He recommended for some options and against some things I really didn't need. His experience is beyond vast. We ended up with a 2013 JCW Countryman that is truly "ours"! The wait was slightly over four months and worth every day. Juan kept us updated on the build and shipping progress all the way through. More incredible is that I had one specific day available to pick up the new car and make the six hour drive home. I later learned it was Juan's day off but he didn't mention that when he arranged the time around my schedule for me to pick up the car. He wanted me to be completely happy and if that meant coming in on his day off he was going to do it. And he did! Mini of Murray is a great dealer and Juan Coles is an awesome M.A.! read more

Mini of Murray has gone above and beyond to find me the car of my dreams! I was very particular in what model, style, color scheme that I wanted and because what I wanted was a rare find, it just seemed that every avenue we searched came to a dead end.. But The sales manager Juan and my fantastic sales guy Steve worked tirelessly to locate a car that was on a ship off the coast of Newfoundland, being shipped to Pittsburgh. They were able to secure the car for me and have it rerouted to end up here just for ME!! I am so excited to get my dream car, I'm sure I'll cry tears of joy when I actually lay my eyes on it! If you are in the market for a mini, I would HIGHLY recommend working with the wonderful people at Mini if Murray. They will work just as hard for you to ensure that you are truly happy and in love with your mini. And just incase you are worried about safety ratings, not only can they give you stats, they can give you real life personal stories about why mini has a 5 star crash test rating by the national highway safety committee. read more

Unfortunately, this is the only MINI dealership in the area, so we have used them twice for fairly "normal" service work, and in BOTH attempts, MINI service fell WAY short of expectations; a simple oil change took well over 3 1/2 hours, and no car wash on the way out... oh ya, and the rate is over $150 bucks! We experienced RUDE staff (including the service manger), and several technicians that were SO "busy" they couldn't work on an oil change, but could sit around together talking badly about how terrible the customer in front of us was (now we see why that customer was angry- we are not the only ones)! On the second visit, they told us "well, we got busy-so that means we pushed your car back-it will take another 2 1/2 hours (mind you this was a windshield-again not even engine work!). The kicker was they also made mistakes on billing on BOTH occasions-to the tune of over $300 dollars! When I brought this to their attention, they first FOUGHT hard, and were once again VERY RUDE...then saw they were actually in the wrong, and offered a hat in exchange... are you kidding me? We own several different cars, and take them to different dealerships... the MINI of Murry dealership is the worst of the bunch! They cannot get things done on time, or with efficiency; they over bill (wrongly) VERY often, and the customer is the LAST thing on their mind! I will be avoiding this dealership with all efforts at this time- on multiple occasions, several months apart, this dealership under performed, overcharged, and treated it's customers badly- no thanks MINI of Murry! read more
