*This review is for waxing services only* I have gotten my brows waxed/tweezed before but have never received as many compliments on my brows as I did after Kit did them! She is very professional and is great at identifying the most flattering brow shape for your face. I have sensitive skin that gets irritated easily and Kit always makes sure to take care of my skin. If you're looking for an outstanding brow waxing/shaping experience, go see Kit. My brows are pretty wimpy, so even pulling one too many hairs could really botch the job. Believe me, I've learned this the hard way. But Kit skillfully shapes my brows with a careful and patient approach. Every time I look in the mirror following a visit to Kit, I'm delighted by her precision and (I think this might be an appropriate description) her artistry. Because my brows are so wimpy, most waxing technicians tend to just clean up the little strays and leave the brow shape as it is. Kit actually creates a lovely shape, a gentle arc. I have also seen Kit for bikini line waxing. She gets it. Nobody particularly enjoys having a bikini wax. She's chill in her approach and demeanor, putting the client at ease. And while she's thorough and meticulous with bikini waxing, she's also quick. She gets the job done. Kit is friendly and we are always pretty chatty when I see her, but I can tell that she was taking her cue from me when I first saw her. In other words, I think if you're chatty, she's happy to chat away with you. If you like to kind of zone out during a service, she'd let you have your peace and quiet. Client satisfaction and quality of experience seem to be a top priority for Kit. As an aside, I got a pedicure with Kareena today and she was awesome! read more

This new MiniLuxe location has it all. A clean, minimal upper level with friendly receptionist, wall of polish and manicure tables, as well as pedicure stations below. No matter which MiniLuxe location you visit, I swear their manicures and pedicures last longer than anywhere else. My technician was friendly and the shop was immaculately clean. The tools are always sanitized and sealed, so you never have to worry about any yucky stuff. Easy to make an appointment online or over the phone too. read more

I recently visited this salon for the first time to get a mani & pedi. The salon itself is nicely decorated and clean. The selection of colors is great. However, it was the worst manicure I've ever received. I paid an extra $10 for the performance nail polish. The nail polish dried with tiny bumps. It's been less then 48 hours and two nails are already chipped. This salon is very expensive (close to $60 for mani/pedi) but you don't get what you pay for. read more

I booked the naked manicure(25min) and pedicure(40min), both with the deluxe massage add ons(+10min for manicure and +10min for pedicure). The entire service supposed to last 85min. I was out of there in less than 45min. The lady I checked out with (she was really nice) was aware of this and removed the charges for the deluxe massage add ons. Meanwhile, the manager was out talking to someone in the car for more than 20min as I was finishing up - hence i am not able to convey this problem directly to her. Miniluxe is very clean and has a very large polish selection Vina has done both manicures and her technique and friendly manner made the experience very relaxing. this place was pretty good. the hostess was kind of rude and i almost walked out bc i felt so unwelcome. she also didn't really know what services were offered. i was trying to determine between two different add-ons and she didn't know and seemed upset that i was asking. it's okay though! bc the actual nail service was great. i had Katie and she really took her time, was great at her job and knew the intricacies of their different nail polishes and services. the chairs are not massage chairs and it seems like Mini Luxe optimized for a certain look over comfort which is great for some but not my cup of tea. i'd rather have the comfy massage chair! the music was a little clubby- again- not really my thing. i probably won't be back, but it's just my preference. the place was really clean, good technician and good color varieties. i should add that the parking was awesome! nice big garage and would be perfect for grabbing lunch before or after. there are some great walking distance restaurants around. read more

I just went for a manicure on mothers day. My mom and I switched back and forth. She got a Mani while I got a facial and vice versa. Her manicure was first and she kindly paid for mine and tipped (well) the manicurist before she left. Halfway through my manicure, the manicurist tells me she's only going to do half the manicure because I was a few minutes late. Now, I understand if you have to do that, but let someone know before they pay and tip. I've been to other mini luxe locations and the service is great. I brought this up to the girl at the front desk and her only response was "OK.". So now instead of feeling relaxed with nice nails, I'm frustrated with no recourse. Some aspects of the manicure were great! My cuticles remained maintained longer than the gel itself. However, when you pay as much as you do here, you expect your polish to last. I had a gel manicure and within two days my gel was lifting. This continued with the rest of my nails shortly after. The manicure didn't even last two weeks. read more

I have been a loyal client at Miniluxe Newton Centre for years. When the Chestnut Hill location opened I decided to give it a try. I had a manicure and an eyebrow wax. The manicure was fine although it chipped the next day. That happens though so I wasn't upset about that. What I was upset about was that my eye area felt extra sensitive after the wax and later that day I realized my skin had been burned! Both eyes had legitimate sores where the wax had been. This has NEVER happened at the Newton Centre location. I emailed the company via the website and offered to send pictures and never heard back. Needless to say I will not be going back to this location and am reluctant to even go back to Newton Centre because of the lack of response from the company. read more

A premium salon should provide top-rate customer service! Not today; not from Kylie at the Chestnut Hill location. I had an appointment for a spa service in the Newton Centre location. They called to change the location to the Chestnut Hill location just before the appointment, farther away from where I was coming from. Traffic was awful and I called to tell them that I was going to be late. Upon arrival, Kylie at the desk was cool, unhelpful and not customer-service oriented at all. I left without the service I had scheduled, and no plans to return this location. By the way, the salon was completely empty at 2:30 on a Sunday afternoon - no surprise with this lack of customer attention. read more

Mini Luxe is a fabulous place to go for a mani/pedi. Unlike many nail salons in the greater boston area they are impeccably clean. I am also always taken on time at this location. I love the performance polish (dazzle dry) which lasts as long as a gel mani but doesn't ruin your nails. This is a great nail salon. read more

I got a gel manicure a little over week ago at this location after hearing all glowing reviews. The lady who I had (I can't remember her name) was very kind, but what she did to my nails was not worth of the $55+tip I paid. She couldn't get the gel of my last manicure off and just decided to paint over it which ended up with my nails not looking smooth. My nails are different sizes and different shapes. The gel started peeling a day or two after. The only reason I'm giving them a 2 star review is that all of the staff was extremely friendly, but my manicure was a 1 star. read more

Not a great experience at this MiniLuxe. While I usually like MiniLuxe I had a poorly trained manicurist who was incomplete, rough on my feet and left one of my toes poorly shaped and not symmetrical at all. When I asked for the scalding water to be made cooler he could barely understand me or communicate at all. Also this new facility has all of its services in the basement so there is no natural light and NO cell phone reception or wifi. Lastly the women working the front desk was absent and another person didn't greet us or look at us even though she was standing right there. When the reception did show up she could only mumble what she had to say. Never coming back to this location. read more

Kit is THE only person I allow to touch my brows! She is so wonderful at what she does, assessing your face shape carefully, and what you are working with for brows. I absolutely love the way she tweezes them. She also is a hoot, will make you laugh a lot. I have been to many salons in the past who always did them so thin or unsymmetrically, then let my brows go rogue for many years but thanks to Kit, I am back in the brow game! Additionally, she does an EXCELLENT job at bikini waxes and brazillian waxes. She is quick, and her technique is about as painless as a bikini wax gets. I went to Miniluxe Saturday for a gel manicure and regular pedicure. They messed up my time and did not apologize even though I had to wait an extra two hours to be seen. Then my nail technician was very rough with my feet and hands (I had to ask three times to be gentle) and he was so rough with one of my nails it was broken in half by Sunday. Now it is Monday and I have two gel nails peeling and bubbles on two other ones. When I am paying 80 dollars total I expect a lot more than this and am very disappointed as I have always loved Miniluxe before this experience. read more

Great deluxe mani/pedi with Eloise today. I am due to have a baby Monday and this was exactly what I needed to relax before the big day.

THIS PLACE WAS HORRIBLE. I tipped $15 dollars on top of a $20 manicure in advance of the service and half way through my manicure, the manicurist looks up at me and says, "you were a few minutes late for your appointment, so I will skip some of the service." She didn't put lotion on my hands and didn't give me the massage. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!!!!!! WHAT?!!! I was livid. I went upstairs to complain and the girl at the reception counter who responded with a simple "ahah." No affect. Just kept saying, "ahah." I WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!!!!!! It gets better. I was THE ONLY ONE IN THE SALON THAT WAS GETTING A MANICURE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON. Now I know why. I proceeded to get on my phone to see if I could make another appt at that time and there were plenty of empty time slots. So, how was there a time issue. SHE CLEARLY DIDN'T HAVE ANYONE WAITING!!! TO BOOT, this was on Mother's Day!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!! HOPE IT WAS WORTH IT FOR THEM TO SCREW ME OVER. read more

I went here for the first time for a gel manicure. The location was convenient, and parking was a total plus. The prices are higher than other places in the area, however I was willing to give it a shot. Within a few days, my nails were chipping and after 5 days the polish completely peeled off one of my fingers. After 7 days, it was peeling off two other fingers - so I took all of it off. I will not be returning. For the cost, I expected more. I've never had this experience before after a gel - it always lasts at least two weeks for me... if not longer. read more
