I took a good friend to breakfast and then here to get a pedicure to celebrate her pregnancy. For $68 I expected a really good pedicure. I expected we would be pampered. For starters the benches were vinyl that was torn and worn. She was thirsty as pregnant women are at times when she asked for water, she was brought water in a paper cup. The pedicure was mediocre at best- and that is being generous. I've had significantly better pedicures as a walk in at a hole in wall in Lynn for $30. The only good thing is that they were open on a Monday and they were ready for us when we arrived. But aside from that, it was so disappointing and I was actually embarrassed. This was supposed to make her feel special and taken care of- for $70 I could have made her feel a lot more special... this was a waste- I wouldn't go back and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Overpriced, bad pedicure (my polish doesn't even look that good- hers looks a little better), and a less than desirable ambiance. Do better miniluxe! read more

I very rarely write reviews, but I'm just really disappointed. This is supposed to be the best, and I've actually never had a worse pedicure or wax. +1 star for being able to make an appointment that is actually yours, which is a rare nail salon thing. And +1 for the techniques - the gentleness the pedicure guy used - nothing hurt, and usually some of the scraping/poking/pushing/whatever hurts - and also the eyebrow girl was sweet and did her best. But everything else was awful. My toes scratched within 24 hours. I couldn't even wear open toed shoes these last 2 weeks, because they looked so awful and I haven't been able to get them done again. But not even chipping - like huge chunks of polish came off at once, like it was barely attached. Disappointing for "premium" polish. Then, the wax. When I went in, she specifically asked if I used any products that contain retinol. I do not. (And I checked all my products when I got home, because of how bad it was, and nothing) But when she was done, my eyebrows and lip were red and blotchy - more than usual. Within 6 hours i had completely broken out, and gotten gross hives all in those areas. I couldn't even cover it with makeup, it was so bad. That was really disappointing. Even at the cheapest places where they are probably double dipping and using cheap gross wax, this doesn't happen. Overall, why would I pay $70+ for services I can normally get for $40, when the more expensive once's aren't very good? Very disappointed. read more

After 3+ manicures, I figured a review was in order. Miniluxe Seaport is next to Shake Shack (dangerous!) in the Seaport District. You can book online or walk in for the next available appointment. Super clean, super stylish and pretty reasonable prices! Performance Polish is the way to go, it goes on like regular polish, no UV light, removes like regular polish but....wait for it....it dries in 5 minutes AND you get a good 10-14 days out of your manicure. I have the WORST nails, brittle, they don't grow and regular manicures maybe last 12-24 HOURS before they chip. I've done gel manicures in the past but they've messed up my nails. So I'm a HUGE convert of the Performance Polish. Even better, there's a 5 day chip policy, so in the highly unlikely event you get a chip the next day, you can pop back in and they'll redo the nail. I'll be a regular client. All of the technicians are great but a special shout out to Eloise who is super meticulous. Street parking (metered) if you're willing to drive around the block and a few local garages/parking lots but they charge $$$. read more

I'm so glad I found this place! Easy walk from the Westin hotel. I loved how organized the colors are in the salon. It made choosing a color so much more pleasant. Jolie did my manicure and pedicure. I so desperately wanted to get my nails done before coming on a 9 day trip to Boston... but luckily I landed in the hands of a sweet, kind, personable, and gentle nail tech. This was the easiest salon I have ever booked thru Yelp, I was able to pick my services, was given exact timing for how long it would take as well as additional costs, there were no surprises! I knew exactly what I was paying before walking thru the door! I was welcomed into the salon the second I walked in. I was comfortable sitting at the pedicure and manicure station. The communication that I received throughout the experience was amazing, always being asked what exactly I wanted and if what was done was what I expected. The pricing is spot on and well worth it. The aroma throughout is clean and refreshing. I wish I had more friends visiting Seaport, I would send every single one of them here! I normally have a fabulous experience at MiniLux seaport. Friendly helpful staff and an excellent manicure and pedicure. My impression was sullied today when I walked in the door. No one was at the desk so I used some hand sanitizer and then proceeded to grab one of the ring of sample polishes. The front desk person walked around the corner and without welcoming me greeting me or even a simple hello she chastised me for picking up a sample ring without her handing it to me first. Ok, my mistake (although I have seen customers do this before). The problem is that her attitude was nasty and belittling. I have a suggestion in stead of insulting your customers for a situation that would not have happened if you had been at the desk to in the first place How about a greeting first and then something like " I see you have picked a polish ring, great but in the future we would prefer that you let us do that" But instead I had someone arguing with me about how they have a policy and there is a reason for it and on and on. This women needs some serious customer service training. Ultimately it's. A small thing but honestly she has really put me off minilux. read more

Holy cow! My very first manicure ever and despite all my nerves and shyness I have to say I'm insanely hooked!!! Huy was the person who worked on my nails and he was amazing. After the manicure Huy used this amazing smelling oil for a hand and arm massage. Needless to say I'll be scheduling one next week and I'm bringing two friends. Amazing experience!! read more

I went in for my first time to get my eyebrows waxed by Jessica. The place was super clean and the staff was very friendly. HOWEVER, my eyebrows were completely destroyed. I had asked them to be shaped, and she shaped them .. into a straight line. They were waxed straight across and looked absolutely horrible. Absolutely do NOT go here for eyebrows. Very disappointed in Miniluxe Seaport. I frequently get the Performance Polish Color Refresh service, which always costs $32. I recently had an appointment for that service and checked out and left gratuity only to find out I was charged an additional $7 after the fact in a separate charge to my credit card. I did not have any upgrades to my service nor did I purchase any products. I only had the straight Performance Color Polish Refresh service, which is listed at $32. I contacted the Seaport studio and was told I was mischarged at checkout and the service is not $32 it is $39 and I was charged $7 for the difference. I explained again the basic service I had, nothing additional requested or purchased and the charge is listed as $32 and not $39. Despite the prices listed on the website, I was told my service was more. Why I was charged an amount different than the list price as well as charged another amount after the fact makes no sense to me and is unfair dealing and was not discussed with me at checkout. Nothing in my service warranted a higher price yet Miniluxe charged me anyway after the fact and was unhelpful in their response. Beware of extra, erroneous charges and unhelpful customer service! Update: Manicure chipped after 2 days (this was their performance polish they claim to guarantee for 5 days). Complained to Miniluxe, included photos in email, never received a response. Not impressed with their service. I really don't get the MiniLuxe hype. Yes, the locations are primo and the decor is obviously done by a high priced designer. But in the end, I paid $30 for an average looking manicure that is guaranteed to chip prematurely as they don't paint the tips. For $5 more, I could have gone to my regular place and had a gel manicure that would have lasted 2 weeks. My manicurist was lovely, but the service just doesn't justify the price. read more

I don't understand this place. $60 for what I would say is a no-frills mani-pedi is almost double what I normally pay. And the chairs for the pedicure aren't vibrating and aren't that comfortable. When the technician was filing the bottoms of my feet, he started filing the side of my foot, where there is clearly no hard skin. It started hurting, so I asked him to stop filing that spot. He went right back to it after I asked him to move on. It hurt for several days, and over a week later, I still have a scab. And my polish chipped on two fingers after 2 days. My daughter and I had mani pedis together a few weeks ago. The woman doing my pedi, really cut my little toe badly. I was talking and did not notice it but when she touched my toe, it was very painful. I had to put a bandaid an first aid cream on my toe for a couple of days and it was bleeding for 24 hours. She did not even apologize for this. My daughter also had a cut on her toe from a different woman. I called the salon to complain and was assured that someone would call me back. The manager left me a voice mail wanting to make it right, I called her back and have not heard from her since. I was very disappointed in my whole experience because of this. Unfortunately I really liked my mani, and the polish, but the pedi is the memory I am left with. read more

I do not recommend this location- definitely just go to Newbury st. I had to wait an hour before being seen (when I had scheduled an appointment) because they triple booked. They were even seeing customers who came in after me which was very aggravating. I had come in with a group of 7 and it happened to 2 other girls as well. The manicures were subpar and you could tell the employees were new because they took an extremely long time to finish (this was a gel mani I got). I live in the Seaport so I've been here several times, the convenience factor is pretty much the only reason I go here- I've had much better luck at other MiniLuxes. There's definitely issues with organization and wait times for appointments. It's generally fine for mani/pedis (although I had one pedi that virtually disintegrated from my toes after going into a hotel pool a few days after I got it). My real issue is the eyebrow waxes I've received. The first one I had was good, another couple were passable and the last one was downright miserable- the woman took way too much off and I have a scab on one side from her waxing technique. This has never never happened me before. That will be my last time getting my eyebrows done there- time to try the new Blue Mercury down the street. read more

Just as I was headed out the door for my 9 o'clock appt., I got a call from the nail salon saying my tech had called for a funeral. They were able to book me with another tech within my rather tight time frame and I have to say that I really believe things happen for a reason. Catherine, my "replacement" tech was wonderful! She was meticulous about her work, kept asking me if water temp was ok, if I was happy with the shape, color, etc. plus she was very sweet. I couldn't have been happier with the service! I really wanted to like this place as it was right next door to where I live but the staff (specifically the front desk) gave me every reason not to. When I first walked in, I was barely greeted. When I was finally noticed, they were unfriendly and seemingly only cared enough to take my payment. When my technician arrived, the front desk girls were too busy talking to one another and so I had to introduce myself and figure out if the technician was mine or not. It's way over priced and completely impersonal. My manicure lasted less than a week. All in all I will continue to make the special trip to Nail Stylus in Brookline where I've been going for years. They are great there, offer a personal experience, and do a much more thorough job at a lower cost! Not to mention the results last way longer. read more

Perhaps the best location yet of MiniLuxe and so happy this place joined the neighborhood. I came for a same day color change ($15) and was quickly seen and loved their nail polish options for OPI. The space is gorgeous, clean, and so easy to quickly get a color change on a lunch break @ work in the area. I also did not dry my nails but instead just waled back to the office and by the time I got there my nails were dry :) Very pleased! Will for sure be back! read more
