I paid $52 + tip for Dazzle Dry pedicure. Not once but twice the polish was uncured and the nails were a mess when I got home. The owner was happy to fix it the first time, I even stayed longer for the drying time. When it happened a second time, she blamed my shoes! insisting "it's not my fault." She insisted I pay another $38 for a polish change rather than correct the $52 service I had already paid for. Had the polish been applied and cured properly and was dry, this would not happen with Dazzle Dry. The dishonest gaslighting and blaming the customer was reprehensible. Went to this establishment for the 1st time in a recommendation , the worst by far considering it was in beacon hill area , I asked for a hard gel manicure , felt rushed and went on my lunch hour to find out when I left my nails were "bumpy" . Have had 2 manicures there during this pandemic. The service is always very friendly. Felt very safe and definitely felt like they were following regulations especially with their glass barrier. Also felt that the gel lasted longer than what I usually experience (I am a nurse). This salon did a fabulous job on my nails...they were looking pretty rough and dry from a botched gel manicure that I got at another salon a week ago, but my nail tech did a great job reviving my nails and giving me a nice, natural look that I was hoping for. The prices are amazing and it's definitely the best value in the area. The only reason why I hesitate to give 5 stars is because the ambience is a little strange and I do have a little cut from her filing my nails too close to the skin, so I have some bleeding on my finger tip. Overall, I would go back again. If you really value the experience over the product, then this probably isn't a great place for you. If you care more about an affordable product over an experience, then this is a great place to go. read more

I went here yesterday because my mother goes here all the time. I had a 5:30 appointment and I arrived at 5:15 so I could choose what color I wanted. I am heading to an Indian Wedding, which has many outfits so I wanted to be sure that the color I selected would match all the outfits. I had requested a gel manicure and gel pedicure. I picked out a few shades of pink and I asked her which if she could help me find a neon pink color. She shook her head and said, "all the colors are there." I picked one, and I was told by Tammy, the technician, that she would not use that color because it was a bad brand. (Why do they have it then..?) I had to revamp quickly and she tried one color, which I did not like and so she got another. I said it was still too purple (I wanted something lighter) and I asked her if she had anything neon pink. She said, "All I have is what you see on the nail colors. I cannot keep doing this and trying colors for you. If you want to try colors, you can come an hour earlier." Each sentence she said got louder and louder and she was shouting at me and the whole nail salon went silent. I was humiliated and embarrassed and told her she could just paint it with the one she had, even though it was not what I wanted at all. I sat there silently and she was shaking her head at me, and the situation was very tense and I was trying to hold back tears. I had originally come in to get my fingers and toes done. She then asked, "what color for your fingers?" and I said, "I won't be getting my fingers done," quietly. After, she started yelling and shouting at me again, "You cant come in here and pick all those colors you want. I dont have time for you to do that. All the other women, their customers are done and they are on their second one, I am still painting your toes, I dont have time for this, next time you should have come an hour earlier." I said back to her, "Everyone needs different amounts of time for things," and she cut me off and started yelling again about how I took too long and can't decide on anything. I quietly put my shoes on and went to pay, holding back tears. As I was waiting to pay, Tammy yelled to me across the salon, " I PAY FOR YOU, YOU GO." I said, I want to pay for my service and she was waving me out of the salon with a towel. I left a cash tip and walked out shaking. Never, in my life have I been more embarrassed or humiliated like I was here. I was shocked at the aggressiveness and meanness from Tammy at Pinckney nails. There were so many things wrong with the situation and the lack of kindness and care was evident. I don't know if she was having a bad day or something happened, but to walk out of a nail salon shaking, was so unexpected and the last thing I thought would happen. I will never go back here again and the place does not even deserve a one star rating. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I had the absolute worst experience in this "salon." The girl who did my nails was so absolutely inept that she put gels on my nails before taking off the polish, then tried to take off the polish. When it didn't work, she sanded down the nails so far that my nail beds started bleeding in places. After I told her it was really hurting, she stopped and put more gel on. She then tried to sand them down before they were dry, leaving huge lumps in my nails. She tried to fix that by sanding- at this point, I had HUGE CHUNKS of nail being shredded off! I was shaking and almost crying at this point, and asked her to stop, that I couldn't finish and had to leave. She looked at me as if I was crazy. She said that I had to pay half. On my way out, another girl came in complaining that she had her nails done there 3 days ago and they were already bad. I can't imagine why anyone would ever go here. read more

I went in for a walk-in pedicure on a Saturday around noontime. I tend to judge a good pedicure on two things: callus removal and massage. Unfortunately, both were no good. As a girl who lives right in the city, I do a lot of walking and my feet need a little TLC. A couple swipes of the pumice made no difference for the soles of my feet. My piggies are usually greeted with what I call the Cheese Grater of Shame (lol), but this nail tech did not pay any attention to the calluses. The "massage" (usually my favorite part) was done with a limp, bored hands...Womp womp. My tired feed were wishing for more. The nail tech doing my pedicure seems to be learning English but did not understand much that I said, including my preference for extra attention to my heels. She did a great job on the polish, though, and cleaned up my cuticles nicely. Everyone was pleasant. The salon is garden level and not wheelchair/handicap accessible. Payment by card is accepted, but tips may only be cash-there is an ATM in the salon. No checks. Dog friendly- always a plus! I would consider returning to try again with another nail tech, since the location is convenient and the salon was clean. read more

I went to this salon on the advice of a male friend :-). The salon is fine, nothing special. The woman who did my mani/pedi was courteous and polite; nothing she said or did made her stand out. What makes Pinckney Nails stand out for me is that a month has gone by and I just realized that I need a pedicure. Not because my polish is chipping - after an entire month there isn't a single chip! - but because my toenails simply need trimming and my summer sandal heels some TLC. I've even had compliments in the past week about how nice my pedicure looks! They use OPI polish so I'm not sure where the magic is but I can't get over how long my toes have looked good! And only $30 for a mani/pedi. Worth a return visit! UPDATE: I returned to this salon today for a mani/pedi. Not such a great experience this time. The young lady who did my nails gave me a little cut on my big toe and then, when I told her specifically how long I wanted my fingernails, she disregarded my wishes and cut them very short. I was weary about going to Pinckney after reading Sara S.'s review on 7/29/09 but my best friend wanted us to get our nails done there for her bday and she'd been a few times before, so we went. I was very pleased with the salon. New stations with built-in fans, a color-coded wall of polish, a station of dryers. I was very happy with how neatly by cuticles were cleaned up and soooo happy with the polish color- Essie Bermuda Shorts. After that mani, I was pumped for a weekend of partying. We went back a couple weeks later. I left even more pleased. At the end of drying, they sprayed our nails with the drying spray. After more drying, they helped us put our coats on, zipping us up and everything! I forgot how bad they were. Just got a regular mani and the paint job is awful. Was drying my nails and they rushed me out (still over 30min to close), assuring me my nails were dry. No drip/express dry. They sprayed my nails with compressed air. Simply putting on my coat smudged them. If the train hadn't just arrived I would've turned around and asked them to fix them. I visited this salon in August 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. I felt like the salon was very safe. My manicurist had gloves and there was a glass screen between us. Masks are required for manicurists and customers. She opened nail materials from a plastic wrap so they had obviously not been used before. She did a beautiful job and took extra care to make sure that I liked the color and asked if I wanted a fourth coat or polish. All in all, a fantastic and safe experience. Worst manicure I've ever gotten, I would not even recommend to my worst enemy. They insisted on adding tips to my nails which completely ruined them, and they got the glue all over my skin which then cut open my skin when they went to file the nails. It was so bad that I took the polish off as soon as I got home, and one of the tips was slanted so it looked like my nail had a weird curve to it. When I complained they acted like they couldn't see what was even wrong with the manicure. When they finally offered to redo it, it had already been two hours. Truly horrible. read more

The lady who did my nails here was a pro. She was in the first station on the right when you walk in. I ended up going in spur of the moment, I looked in to see if they were open and they quickly waved me down to come in. I was the only one in there at the time then it started filling up. The manicure was extremely thorough, lasting almost an hour. She really cared about her work. I had had a manicure the week before and didn't have a lot of cuticle going on but she still treated every nail very precisely. The cuticle cut was painless, filing neat, polish application awesome. I got a french manicure. She was very neat with the acetone line. She even went back a couple times to snip here and there before finishing the polish. When I got up to leave she had another girl check my nails to make sure they were dry. Typical manicures are only $12 and frenches are $17. The place itself is clean. The equipment is fairly modern. There is a large flatscreen which is a plus. The polish selection of OPI and Essie was enormous. Another thing is that they were quietly working instead of blabbing in their language about you. I'm more surprised by the fact that after leaving one star that Alyssa J. is sitting in front of me getting a polish change... Must not have been so horrible as to preclude her from returning! Anyway, the prices are great ($30 for mani/pedi) and the massages are to-die-for. Ivy is seven months pregnant but has magic fingers that melt the stress from my back and shoulders. Kim does an excellent manicure. I used to be a nail-biter and she cured me of it with her excellent polish choices and perfect nail shape. Great salon. The location is very convenient, and they almost always have an appointment for walk-ins. They have a wide color variety, including the best colors of the season from OPI and Essie. The best part is the occasional special, if you can catch it. $30 for mani-pedi! All of the women here are very careful-- they don't miss the very edge of your nail or leave a trace of stray polish on your toe. They even have a great system for putting you back into boots after a winter pedicure: saran wrap across your toes! It seems weird, but it's really effective. I barely noticed it at all and my nails didn't crease. The woman even took the time to tie my shoes for me and button my coat so I didn't smudge my nails on my way out the door. Don't go here. I'm serious. I feel like these people robbed me. I am currently rocking the worst manicure ever. EVER. They do an okay job with eyebrow waxing...but...the UV lamps are WACK! They don't work. I had to go back twice within 20 minutes of leaving the salon to have them fix a nail. Normally that would be a good thing, but twice?! All that says to me is that the lamps are old and don't work. I actually had to ask them to take me to a different station because one of the lamps was out! ARGHHH!!!! Manicures are supposed to be nice and relaxing....The hand massage was nice. They have a great supply of OPI and what not. The salon is very clean. But...if I wanted to pay 17 for a hand massage I would have gone to a massuese! This place fails to deliver in that they can't dry your damn nails! UGHH!!! I'm so mad.
