Grapefruit green tea with boba, less ice
Jenny L.

Came here when I was in the area and it's nothing to write home about. It's a typical tea house, allows adjustments, has pretty standard toppings. Service is friendly. What stands out to me is the food selection, they have pastries but on the side are some braised savory dishes. I didn't get them but definitely not what I expected to see!

Yesterday, when shopping in the Chinatown district, my wife took us to this Minon Cake since the kids wanted boba drinks. This delightful boba shop specializes on custom cakes and serves more than just drinks. We placed our order for the Minon Boba Milk Tea, Thai Tea with Crystal Boba, Ice Matcha Latte, Honey Lemon Green Tea with Crystal Boba, Mango Smoothie with Brown Sugar Boba and Mango Green Tea. We even got the Salted Oreo Cream Cake. The owner is incredibly kind and accommodating, and he creates very tasty cakes and drinks. Kids love this Minon Cake for boba drinks, but they also want to order the customized cake for their birthdays. When you're in the neighborhood, be sure to swing by Minon Cake and purchase some delicious cakes and drinks.

I always pass by this place, finally went in today and got a mango smoothie. It's so light and refreshing, not too sweet, with bits of pomelo sago. Only $6 what a nice treat. Even my lovebird Mango loves it :-D :-D

A very small dessert shop in Chinatown that my friends wanted to try out. We ordered a strawberry snow ice, matcha snow ice and a brown sugar boba for one of my friends. Both snow ice flavors were really good, refreshing and it looked small but was enough to share among 4 people. The strawberry one was refreshing and had strawberries, popping by boba, strawberry syrup thin Oreo and a mini waffle. The matcha one had red bean, thin Oreo and mini waffles. I also noticed they have really cute cake designs and I would definitely look into buying one here. Would come again if I was in Chinatown.

Rose milk tea w/ strawberry bubble boba

LA Chinatown has never had a decent and good boba/tea spot and I think this is finally a good start! Such a cute and convenient spot in Chinatown for good milk teas and teas! I think it's family owned and the family is so nice. Very polite and sweet. I got a very warm and wholesome vibe! They also have a stamp card visit here too. Okay weird topic... but let's start with the cup and design function lol Going to so many tea spots nowadays I def look for this. This place might not look all "aesthetic bs cute" BUT they spent the money for their cup caps. 1. It's a sturdy cap with 2 or 1 designated hole for your to pop the straw in 2. The smoothie cap has cute little panda or bear ears on it I dislike those plastic seals where when you pop the straw in and you make a whole ass mess lol -_- #NotCool ha Rose Milk Tea with Bubble strawberry boba is what I got. It was delish! My bf got their strawberry smoothie which had a very Nice Ice Crème taste to it!!! I wish I got more of a rose hint to my tea but it's fine. The vibe of the owners was nice so I wasn't even bothered. They also make very decorative cakes here too for birthdays and anniversaries! Def check them out if you are local ^_^ They also have their own take on Korean shaved ice (snow ice crème) too! I didn't try it due to being in a rush but it looked very refreshing for a hot sunny day!

We were craving some boba and found this place near the new Mama Lu's Restaurant! Got their mango pamelo drink with tiny tapioca balls and it was delicious! Almost as good as Phoenix Dessert but the mango or sago was sour at the end. Pricing is kinda high ($7 for one drink). Non-dairy creamer is available though so my stomach was not destroyed :0) It's cute inside and has a clean bathroom. Their cakes look really good!

Black Sugar Fresh Milk Tea

went here before work last week to get some boba, and I tried the black sugar fresh mik tea. it was pretty good, but I think it needed a little more flavor in my opinion. service was good, the girl got my order out pretty quickly, and there's a few tables/chairs inside to sit down and relax at. maybe I'll come back to try a different kind of boba!

Salted Oreo Cream ($6.59)

I was dining nearby on a rainy day and I had to buy a small cake to celebrate my future husband's birthday; BTS Jin. I do this every year just to celebrate his special day even if he doesnt know my existence. Then I came across Minon Cake and I thought it was exactly what I was looking for. Photos on Yelp was promising and price seemed reasonable but mostly, it was only a couple minutes away from where I was. I drove and street parked right in front. Out of many choices, I decided to get the Strawberry Matcha and Salted Oreo Cream Cake. Price was reasonable; $9.99 and $6.59 respectively. I didnt get any drinks because I was on the run to my next destination but there were other customers in the store getting drinks before and after me. Their cakes are good but not great. Yes, it is true that I do not like overly sweet desserts but these two cakes I tried were not even close to that. They had like a very slight hint of sweetness. I want to say that it wasnt sweet at all. I am unsure if this is what they intended but both cakes were that way. Cream tasted a little heavy to my personal taste but it was good. I dont know if I want to eat unsweetened cakes but I know, for some of you, this may be pleasing. Cakes were good in both presentation and portion. Going in depth taste wise, it was creamy, moist and spongy but just not on the sweeter side. Thats all. Minon cake also offers custom cakes and I think they need at least 3 business days ahead of time to get the cakes ready for you! I may come back again to try the drinks and maybe other desserts I didnt get to! Friendly and quick service with not too spacious inside but it is very cute and has warm ambiance that most us girls would enjoy.

Matcha red bean snow ice
Robert C.

Came here for the matcha red bean snow ice. It had a nice matcha flavor. The red beans were underneath. It did not come with any waffles even though the picture had it. It also came with half an oreo. Why not a full oreo though... It was still tasty and very soft.

Ambiance: the small cafe shop is located near the entrance of old Chinatown Service: very friendly and patient with questions, provided useful suggestion Food: standard drink menu and specialty cakes Bobo Cup Desserts - **** freshly made in house, mango, bobo, and cream on top of soft sponge cake, not overly sweet, recommend Price: decent portion and reasonable prices, about $10 per order for drinks and desserts

Cute little door

Cute little bakery shop in the middle of Chinatown. Even the door sign is adorable. I'm in love, what can I say? There are plenty of little goodies to keep a girl going. Everyone here is friendly and although communication is a bit of a barrier, I still manage to leave happy and full of sweets!

Kumquat lime green tea

If you like unsweetened cake, this is the place for you. I m like so amazed. I tasted like 0% of sweetness in the durian cake. I am sure it had some sugar it in lol it was good tho. I am planning to order a cake here for my friend's bd. Hope the quality stay the same. I will request for the cake to be a bit sweeter tho since my friend like it sweet. I also got a kumquat drink which was also good. It wasn't too sweet nor too sour. Good for a hot day. Will be back.

The buttercream is incredibly smooth and adds the perfect amount of moisture, making each bite really delightful. We also tried the chocolate chip cookie, which was very good. It had a crisp, slightly crunchy exterior, while the inside was soft and a little underdone--but still delicious, especially if that's the type of cookie you like. The black sesame had a nice, strong, nutty flavor. The ube coconut actually tasted like ube coconut. Sounds dumb but my issue is most of the time, ube-flavored desserts are lacking in ube flavor. Not this cake though!! It was the perfect mix of ube and coconut (which are complimentary flavors imo anyways). On top of the flavor of the cakes, they're literally beautiful. The ube slice had ornate flowers delicately placed on top. My only regret is that I hadn't tried this cake sooner. Seriously, you will not regret trying the cakes here. My boyfriend and I are mid-eating our slices as I write this, and we're already plotting our return.

My friend and I ordered the melons appetizer which was refreshing and phenomenal - who knew pickles and sweet melon went together so beautifully?! For pizza, we ordered a slice of "Tomato Slice" with ricotta and a slice of pepperoni. We both loved the Tomato Slice but my friend thought the pepperoni was just ok. For dessert, my friend ordered the Princess Cake. Fortunately she let me try a bite so I can say it was moist and delicious! I got the coconut cream pie which was lovely with some mango on top, and to go, I snagged a slice of the stone fruit "slab" - they literally took off the "sold out" sign at opening and I immediately told our server I wanted some to take home! I tried it the next day, slightly warmed up and it was amazing! This spot is definitely worth the trek and parking struggle that is Silver Lake!

Mochi Twist ($5)-- Nice and dense mochi texture? I guess it's hard to describe but it's not hollow and airy like a typical donut. There's some chew to it. And it's not too sweet! Blueberry Roti ($4)-- Flaky crumble on top and blueberry jam?? YES YESSSS. I liked this so much I'd definitely go back for it. Blueberry jam is so underrated and it's rare to find it in a pastry! Makes for a good sweet lil treat. Hot latte ($5)-- Perfect!! No complaints. Not too milky, not too light. Good ratio. I was actually kind of worried ordering a latte because not every place does it right but it's good here! Iced blueberry matcha ($6?)-- I see lots of good things about this drink on here but ooooooof... it missed the mark and by a LOOOT too. It was green sweet cereal milk. Where's the matcha? Where's the blueberry? It was so confusing because I see the green and I know I ordered matcha... but it's just sweet milk! And it's not even blueberry flavored milk. Did they forget the blueberry jam? Syrup? Whatever they use? Because it just tastes like the milk after a bowl of Frosted Flakes or something like that. Very sad, very disappointing. Ended up tossing after a couple sips. ANDDD for those matcha purists this is NOOOT the place for you! They have it pre mixed in a milk gallon. So we just saw green milk coming out of a gallon into this cup like yeppppp ok expectations immediately lowered. Anyways, hot latte is good and the 2 pastries I got were good! Steer clear of the matcha!!!

I recently decided to place a DoorDash pickup order so I could swing by and browse while waiting for my food. The only minor downside during my visit was the lack of customer service when I arrived. I wasn't greeted, and it felt a bit awkward standing there for a moment while both employees were preoccupied almost like I was maybe being avoided.. one was restocking pastries and the other calling out a drink order. As someone who works in the service industry, I completely understand how hectic things can get and how easy it is to be focused on tasks when you're busy. I'm also a pretty patient person and can read the room, but a quick acknowledgment would've gone a long way. Other than that brief moment, I really have no complaints. If it weren't for that slightly awkward interaction, this easily would have been a 5-star visit. While waiting for my order to be warmed up, I took some time to browse their beautiful display of pastries and cakes. Everything looked so good that it definitely convinced me I need to come back soon to try a few. For this visit, I ordered the sourdough turkey melt, which came with turkey, bacon, and cheddar cheese. It was really good--filling, flavorful, and something I'd definitely order again. The sourdough bread was soft and tasted fresh, which I really appreciated. The space itself is also pretty nice inside and feels like a chill spot to sit down for lunch, so next time I might actually dine in instead of taking my order to go. On one random day, I ended up in Chinatown and decided to go exploring. Checking Yelp, a deceptively familiar name emerged, which was this very Phoenix Bakery! It has the vibe of a classic bakery, but with notable creations offered here. I was in search of the classic Hong Kong pineapple bun, and was pleased to find it here, with custard filling, earning its moniker Custard Bun. The custard bun is awesome, as expected. I also saw that they serve Napoleons here, which is one of my favorite desserts if done right. I've had good Napoleons and bad Napoleons, and am pleased to report that this was an instance of a good Napoleon. Specifically, the mango pineapple Napoleon was delightful. (I didn't know we could have fruit in our Napoleons!) The winter melon pastry is pleasant enough; I would buy it again. All this being said, a subsequent visit is in order because I haven't even gotten to try their cream cakes! Ordering protocol: wait in line, and then one of the employees behind the counter will help keep track of your order. Save yourself embarrassment, and take a look at all the items before you commit to your order. Odds are, there will be something else that you would be tempted to try.
