Devil's Dark Chocolate Cake Bar and Passion Fruit Cake Bar
    Vanessa R.

I've been eyeing this place every time I go stationery shopping next door and I'm mad at myself for not going in sooner! Love everything I've tried here. Absolutely delicious cake and cookies. I got the Devil's Dark Chocolate Cake Bar and my partner got the Passion Fruit Cake Bar. Both were soooo good and the frosting was perfect and not too sweet. I'm usually not a big fan of passion fruit sweets because they tend to be too tart, but this passion fruit cake was the perfect balance of flavor. The employee working was very kind and gave us plates and forks so we could enjoy it at the tables right outside the shop. As great as it is, prices are high ($4.50-5.00 for a cookie) so I can't justify coming here more than a few times a year. If the prices were a little better, this place would be perfect! I enjoyed the ube sprinkle cookie at home and I'm so sad I didn't buy more! I hope this is a permanent fixture on the menu because I definitely need to splurge and buy more than one the next time I'm here.

Flouring Cake Shop - Beautiful Cakes & Unique Flavors in Chinatown Flouring Cake Shop is one of my favorite spots in Chinatown LA. The shop is decorated in lovely shades of purple and has such a charming atmosphere. The staff are always friendly and helpful, which makes every visit enjoyable. The cakes are gorgeous--often decorated with edible flowers--and taste just as good as they look. The texture is slightly light (not heavy like typical American cakes), and the buttercream is smooth and not overly sweet. They offer both slices and whole cakes, with creative flavors like passion fruit, lavender lemon, black sesame, and strawberry. Besides cakes, they also have unique desserts like Pavlova with yuzu, buttery shortbread cookies, and oat scones that are a delicious cross between a scone and an oatmeal cookie. Everything I've tried has been thoughtfully made and flavorful. If you're looking for a special cake or just want to enjoy a refined dessert, Flouring is definitely worth a visit!

Located next to one of the cutest Stationery shops in Chinatown... this bakery is tiny but oh so Yummy! I got the sea salt chocolate chip cookie, OMG it melts in your mouth!! Parking is difficult to find in this area, so please come prepared to walk if necessary. Respectfully Reviewed.

I wish I could order cake from here everyday! You get what you pay for and this is QUALITY! I am obsessed with the presentation and the floral decorations, not to mention each flavor is incredibly decadent, delectable, and unique. I bought this for a small team birthday celebration and we have some picky eaters, but they LOVED it! I also appreciated that we could get the cake delivered. That was convenient, especially since they're located in downtown. Consider me a loyal customer as I WILL be ordering again.

I have been a great follower of Flouring Cake LA and Chef Heather Wong's amazing cakes! Pop in and try the cake box selection and try all flavors! My favorite is the Passion Fruit, Dark Chocolate and Italian Pistachio! My favorite color is lavender and the store is beautifully decorated with the most intense lavender decor! The cakes pop out in the case! Next time I will try their chocolate chip cookie!

Such a lovely cake spot. My friend got her daughter's 1st Birthday cake here and when I tried it for the first time, I was blown away by how good it was. I decided to come to the store to try out their other flavors. Parking can be tricky here as it is in Chinatown. There is metered parking in front of the store and across the street. The store itself is small, but also sold little items/candles for your pastry needs. The lady inside that helped me was super friendly and helpful. I ended up going for the Lemon/Lavender, Pistachio, and Ube Coconut. I appreciated that they sold individual slices as well as mini cakes and large cakes. It's a little on the pricier side, but the quality does it justice. My favorite is 100% the Pistachio, the top is filled with crushed pistachio bits and the frosting was perfect, not too sweet at all! The Lemon Lavender Marble was really good too. The Ube Coconut was more on the sweeter side as opposed to the other two. Will be bookmarking this place for future events and birthdays. Enjoy!

I happened to walk past this spot while exploring chinatown and decided to buy some sweets to share with my gf. I ended up getting a strawberry cake bar and a passionfruit cake bar. Both cakes were quite delicious and similar to traditional cakes. I really liked the density and rich taste of the creams, as well as softness of the cake layers. They weren't overly sweet like your typical american cakes either. Overall, great cake bars. If parking wasn't such a hassle in chinatown, I would frequent often for more.

    Classic Mixed Berry Pavlova
    Justin C.

A flash of emerald light exploded across my consciousness! The delicate crumb structure shattered like silk beneath the tines, revealing layers of vivid green sponge interwoven with cream so ethereal it could only have been crafted by angels--or demons masquerading as pastry chefs. The pistachio flavor struck first--not merely a taste, but a DECLARATION. Pure, unadulterated essence of Sicilian nuts, roasted to absolute perfection, ground into submission and transformed into something transcendent. The cream filling cascaded across my palate like a Mediterranean breeze, while subtle notes of butter created a symphony that left me defenseless! But the assault wasn't over. The black sesame cake sat before me, ominous and alluring like midnight itself. One bite, and suddenly I was falling through dimensions of flavor! The nutty, earthy depth of toasted sesame seeds wrapped around me like a silken robe, each layer revealing new secrets. Sweetness balanced perfectly against that characteristic bitter edge--yin and yang achieved in cake form! The texture? Impossibly moist, almost sinful in its richness. Finally, the berry pavlova delivered the knockout blow. Crisp meringue SHATTERED into a million crystalline fragments, giving way to clouds of cream and an explosion of berry compote that was simultaneously tart, sweet, and utterly devastating. A culinary arena where only the strongest taste buds survive!

Cute little cake stop tucked away in Chinatown. Super cute designs, petite and the perfect size. Their cakes aren't overly sweet but it goes well with a cup of tea. I believe the owner rang me up and she was wonderful!

    Mother's Day truffle box
    Jennie D.

Been wanting to check this place out for a while now. Cute little shop in Chinatown. I was lucky and found metered street parking right in front of the store. Stopped in to pick up my preorder box of truffles that were special for Mother's Day. I tried all the flavors and I loved that it was light, sweet, and small so that it was easy to share in my family. They don't eat a lot of sweets anymore so it was a great purchase for us. The flavors were not overpowering and I love the light texture to it. I've also tried the black sesame yuzu pavlova from here. Nice combo and you could really taste each flavor. There's some seating outside if you want to enjoy your desserts a little. But mostly a take and go place.

    Diana T.

Delicious as always! This time we got the seasonal carrot cake, pistachio, and lavender lemon! We left each out for about an hour on a rainier/cold day and the carrot cake and pistachio were perfect. The lavender lemon cake is a little denser and the butter cream didn't get to quite the right texture but was still good. The carrot cake was moist and the cream cheese buttercream was delicious! If you're looking for something sweeter and nuttier then the pistachio is a great choice. For those that like a more subtle taste, the lavender lemon will always be a good choice. It's a softer flavor with the lavender hitting first but ending on the lemon flavor makes it taste so light and clean.

What an absolutely beautiful cake shop. Each cake is beautifully decorated with fresh flowers. Had a slide of the PASSIONFRUIT CAKE BAR and what a marvel it was. The cake itself is spongy and light as an angel and full of flavor. The buttercream is soooooo rich and yummy and very much done properly. The CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE is delicious too. The ESPRESSO CHIP SHORTBREAD is amazing and goes very well with coffee!! The lady was so patient with me and my girls. Man, if you see me bring a cake from here to you, I must like you a lot because their cakes are not cheap... but I can tell you now, it is worth it. They had a cake bar sampler if that's your kind of thing. There is no seating inside but there are a couple of small tables in front of the door where you can quickly enjoy your cake if you can't wait to get home before enjoying your dessert.

    Key Lime Pavlova
    Roel C.

Ayo!!! It's been a minute so I decided to come by and check out one of the Pavlova's. This Keylime Pavlova definitely hit the spot! It had the crisp exterior, marshmallow interior with a tart Keylime curd. They have many other types of lovely cake slices, cookies, and meringues. You need to come and check out this place ASAP. Street metered parking, outdoor seating and credit cards are accepted. Staff was sooo friendly and the shop is sparkly clean!

I'm from the Bay Area but I've been to Cafe Dulce several times. My wife and I really like their Hong Kong Tea Latte and their Matcha drink, as well as their various donuts and baked goods. In the morning rush they can be a little busy but the staff work hard. On a recent visit I saw people eating their steak breakfast burritos, so I ordered one for myself and a coworker. The burritos were reasonable size, the steak was seasoned well, and the breakfast burrito had potatoes in it (I only like breakfast burritos that have potatoes/hash browns/tots in it). Blueberry Roti ($4)-- Flaky crumble on top and blueberry jam?? YES YESSSS. I liked this so much I'd definitely go back for it. Blueberry jam is so underrated and it's rare to find it in a pastry! I was actually kind of worried ordering a latte because not every place does it right but it's good here! Ended up tossing after a couple sips. ANDDD for those matcha purists this is NOOOT the place for you! They have it pre mixed in a milk gallon.
