I tried the Red Top and really enjoyed it! One slice was filing enough for me. The pizza reminded me of my favorite pizza spot in San Francisco, Golden Boy Pizza. $6 a slice is definitely pricey but it was worth it. It was warm and flavorful, really hit the spot. The pepperoni is a classic, but Quarter Sheets does it well. They're generous with the toppings, too! The flavor combination of turning leaf sounds odd at first, but the savory spice of the chorizo is mellowed out nicely by the potatoes and garlic cream. However, I think I could've gone without the green chile on that one. The star of the show was the princess cake slice. The mascarpone chantilly and olive oil chiffon melt in your mouth while the almond marzipan adds a bit of texture to the slice. The tartness of the raspberry preserves balances out an otherwise decadent bite. My friend, boyfriend, and I ordered one slice to share and absolutely demolished it. I'm already planning to order the princess cake as my birthday cake. The main reason for the 4-star review is the wait. We bit the bullet and drove out from OC to catch the restaurant right when they opened at 5pm, hoping to snag a walk-in table. Reservations are so hard to get. Tried Quarter Sheets with some work friends on our way to pregame at the neighborhood bars before a Dodger game. This place is definitely an Echo Park hotspot, especially on game days. The inside dinning area is very small, but trendy in a hipster kinda way. It's your typical Echo Park restaurant with good food, and lots of customers in a cramped space. Seating is very limited so most people end up eating their pies on the standing tables outside or on the sidewalk. They have a small takeout window for pre orders. The online ordering process isn't the easiest and the pick up process feels a bit clunky but the service is great. It's not the most relaxed dining experience but that's part of the charm. The pizza itself was good, almost great but something is missing. It's a Detroit style pie, made to order and topped with high quality ingredients. The cheese pull is on these slices is great. It's a very good pizza for LA but definitely not the best pizza you'll find in LA. They have a great chocolate chip cookie and a surprisingly appetizing dessert list for a pizza joint. I don't think I ever waited this long for Pizza we even had made reservations. We made a pit stop at Quarter Sheets on our drive back from the Bay. We've tried to stop here a few times before and it finally worked out! We called in a Red Top pizza ahead for pickup at 6:30 PM. Got there early around 5:45, so we decided to grab two slices of the Polish Riviera and a chocolate chip cookie while we waited. The walk up line was quick with only one person ahead of us. We order selection of the appetizers and three types of pizzas so we each had 3 slices to try. Every appetizer was SO FLAVORFUL! Tried the special clam bar pizza in a Connecticut style - very thin, cracker-like crust with clams and a spicy red chili paste. A complete contrast to the Detroit slices. Loved the crust and style. Would order again in another topping. For $26, it was a lot of pizza. While many restaurants treat dessert as an afterthought, here it is highly celebrated. Since it was our first visit, we had the house special princess cake and it literally was TO DIE FOR. I'm not usually the dessert person, but this was a case of my fork going back ... and back ... and back. It tastes a million times better than it looks, even though it looks beautiful. The raspberry was just so raspberry, and the cream was so light. You could visit and just have that and be happy. Not an inexpensive dessert at $14, but really, really memorable. Why only 4*?
