I used to work closer to Paris Baguette and hadn't been back in a while, but I remembered them having a ton of unique and delicious-looking pastries. I recently decided to place a DoorDash pickup order so I could swing by and browse while waiting for my food. The only minor downside during my visit was the lack of customer service when I arrived. I wasn't greeted, and it felt a bit awkward standing there for a moment while both employees were preoccupied almost like I was maybe being avoided.. one was restocking pastries and the other calling out a drink order. As someone who works in the service industry, I completely understand how hectic things can get and how easy it is to be focused on tasks when you're busy. I'm also a pretty patient person and can read the room, but a quick acknowledgment would've gone a long way. Other than that brief moment, I really have no complaints. If it weren't for that slightly awkward interaction, this easily would have been a 5-star visit. While waiting for my order to be warmed up, I took some time to browse their beautiful display of pastries and cakes. Everything looked so good that it definitely convinced me I need to come back soon to try a few. For this visit, I ordered the sourdough turkey melt, which came with turkey, bacon, and cheddar cheese. It was really good--filling, flavorful, and something I'd definitely order again. The sourdough bread was soft and tasted fresh, which I really appreciated. The space itself is also pretty nice inside and feels like a chill spot to sit down for lunch, so next time I might actually dine in instead of taking my order to go. Stopped in here for the first time the other day and decided to pick up a couple pastries. It's a self serve type of thing, and they package them up for you at the end. The pastries are a bit pricey here, and in my opinion nothing special. The presentation on them was beautiful though. I dropped in while in the neighborhood. Server Hector wasn't too friendly- he didn't smile or say good morning, nor did he say anything after handing me my coffee. I had a blueberry cheese cheese pastry, which tasted great! I had an iced coffee- he gave it to me black without half and half. I had to ask the lady for it. The coffee was nice and strong. $8.58 for both items. Well lit spot with street parking at the meters. They have prepackaged vegan cakes and treats also. This Paris Baguette is located in DTLA, close to St Vincent's jewelry district. I often come here to grab a quick snack while waiting for my jewely to be fixed. This is a delightful bakery and café offering a mix of freshly baked goods, sandwiches, and beverages with a French-inspired twist. I have visited several Paris Baguettes and this one is also very clean and well stocked with baked goods. Their menu features a variety of breads, pastries, cakes, and savory items like mini pizza flatbreads and sandwhiches. I love getting their cronut (croissant donut) and their mochinut (mochi donut). Sometimes I will get their honey garlic bread which is super delicious and once you eat it, you will get food coma for sure. For drinks, I got their Iced Cafe Latte and Matcha Latte which pairs well with their baked goods. They also have an app where you can collect purchased points and redeem them for freebies later one. I discovered Paris Baguette on the east coast via family. It's one of their favorite spots and I jumped on board with 'em. The price adds up quick, but it was such a bright, friendly, welcoming, DELICIOUS spot with so many varieties, I couldn't get enough of it. Silly me had no IDEA that Paris Baguette is a chain, so when I found out there were spots near me!? YIPPEE!!! Then I went to this 8th street one with a friend. Womp womp. It's gnarly. The neglected, grimy, dirty part of the chain that's not quite up to snuff. Ordered anyway, cause... well, it's a chain, it'll at least TASTE the same. Nope. I had been downing the deliciousness of King Cream Donuts, Sugar Mochi Donuts and Very Berry Pastries like they were going out of style. I got the same three donuts and this 8th street location somehow managed to take the lemony zest out of the custard, the whip out of the cream and the fresh out of the fluff. Bluck. I've been coming to this Paris Baguette on 8th Street for over 10 years, but today's experience really disappointed me. I grabbed a cookie and went to the register, where the cashier was busy making two cappuccinos, but no other people in line. There was no greeting, no "I'll be right with you," nothing. After waiting several minutes at the counter, I eventually started eating my cookie while still standing there, waiting to pay. When the cashier finally came over (after more than five minutes), the first thing she said was, "Next time don't start before you pay," instead of any sort of apology or acknowledgment for the wait. I am writing to formally report an unacceptable experience that occurred at your store located at 404 W 8th St Los Angeles, CA 90014 on Saturday, October 4, 2025, around 3:30 p.m. During my visit as I waited for my sandwich to be heated up, I attempted to return a San Pellegrino beverage that had just been opened, but I had not yet left the store. This was due to confusion of it being sparkling water and not the original beverage which I attempted to ask the cashier about. The shift lead and "Maddie" refused to process the refund and declined to call a manager when I requested further assistance. Her tone and demeanor were dismissive and unprofessional, and I was made to feel unwelcomed. When I asked for a full refund due to the treatment I received, my request was again denied. There were two non-Black cashiers working at the time, and I was the only Black-woman customer present. It was clear that my concerns were not taken seriously, and I could not help but feel that racial bias influenced how I was treated. If I were a white woman, I strongly believe this situation would have been handled differently and resolved immediately. To make matters worse, the staff refused to provide their names, which is completely unacceptable. As of now, I have only received one of the three products I paid for -- no refund was issued. This type of treatment toward paying customers, especially Black customers is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. I am requesting that:       1.    My refund be processed immediately for the full purchase amount.       2.    Corporate reviews store practices and employee conduct at this location.       3.    I receive a written response addressing how this matter will be resolved. I will also be sharing my experience publicly on our community news platform to raise awareness about how Black customers are treated at local businesses. Update: I'm writing a follow-up because this situation keeps getting worse. After being refused a simple refund the first time, I was told to "call back the next day" to speak with the manager, Fabiola. I called back -- only to learn that Fabiola wasn't even working that day. I've never in my life been to a business where it was impossible to resolve such a basic issue. Instead of helping, the staff passed me around, refused to process a refund, and made excuses. It's frustrating and unprofessional. What's even more troubling is how dismissive they were toward me as a Black customer in the store. There's no reason a paying customer should be denied fair treatment or basic respect. If a business can't empower its employees to handle refunds or customer disputes, it says a lot about how little they value customer service -- and who they choose to value.
