Never got to see the Doctor because of the unbelievable, unprofessional front office staff. Option one leave a message to make an appointment and they say they will return the call. They NEVER returned my calls (two of them). I finally decided to call the second they open and amazingly on the third time they answered the phone set up an appointment...YAY...Which got canceled the day before the appointment. Played phone tag and got a replacement appointment which they ALSO canceled the night before the appointment. I love how they put you on hold when you press option four to speak to somebody and then they send you to voicemail, and then never return your call!!!!!! I hope the doctor reads this. Todays initial visit was okay. My appointment was at 10 I got called in at 10:45. I was seen by Claudia, she was so nice and made me feel comfortable. She took my blood pressure, weight, and confirmed health questionnaire. She was cool. I was then put in a room for another 30 min or so. If you are looking for a quick visit it is not happening. I did get my appointment faster due to nice lady at reception. Instead of 3 mo. wait she got me in 2 weeks. Since i have been diagnosed and have been waiting for 3 years to be seen for my hypothyroidism. Overall it was a long wait. I hope they work on the timing better read more

I reviewed Dr. Tran in 2016. Dr. Tran, in my opinion is one of the best doctors I have ever had. As a Doctor, she makes me want to take better care of myself. She tells me what I need to do to make myself better. And she offers additional assistance just in case I feel I cannot move forward without it. In this reporter's opinion, it is the PATIENT'S responsibility to get better - NOT the Doctor's. I have had numerous conversations with people and they don't follow the instructions and treatment, and still expect to get better. And when they don't, they blame it on the Doctor. I was being treated for my diabetes by my Primary Care Physician. My A-1c was high, and we couldn't seem to get it down. He would increase my meds. there was no real conversation just meds. Dr. Tran CHANGED the meds, added some and gave me coaching on what I need to do to get my numbers back in line. Every appointment we have a conversation about where I am, what I'm doing, and what I can do to make the numbers better. It's not her responsibility to make me better, it's mine, ALL MINE. The front office staff is very friendly, helpful and always takes care of whatever I need at the time of service. The problem is with the phones. You cant always get through - and leaving messages does not always mean you're going to get a call back, or what is was that you called for. While they are VERY nice - it just seems like they are overwhelmed. I moved from Southern California to Northern California. I still drive down to SoCal every 3-4 months for my appointment with Dr. Tran. read more

The worst doctors experienced I have ever had. And I e had many. The unprofessional and clueless staff who are rude and doesn't know how to even take a prescription request. The doctor has a major attitude and did not even apologize after making me wait 3 hrs. The fact that this office does not answer phone calls and makes you text if you need anything is a huge red flag. They cancelled my 7:30 am appointment without even if letting me know and when I get there no one there and I get a message that they cancelled all appointment due to flooding but a didn't see one person in the office. I want to leave this review for anyone that is looking for a great endocrinologist!! I have been a patient for Dr. Tran for 15 years now . I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer at the age of 24. I was so scared and I was in need of looking for an endocrinologist to assist me through the process and treatment. Working in Long Beach as a phlebotomist I came across with one of her patients in the same building I was working . while drawing this patents blood . I saw her order was for an endocrinologist I asked her a few questions about Dr. Tran and she raved about her and how great she was . I immediately booked an appointment. The patient the right ! Dr Tran was amazing to me since day one !! She provided so much information to me. All of this was new to me I was scared confused. I thought I was gonna die. Especially to hear that I have thyroid cancer . Dr Tran assured me I would be find . After I got my thyroidectomy soon after I started treatment with Dr. Tran . And I been her patient for 15 years . I must stay the Dr Tran has been able to control my thyroid pretty awesome ! Even during pregnancies and a twin pregnancy she made sure I was healthy and also my babies . Having hypothyroidism is really tough on the body . DR Tran has really taken care of me . She adjusts my medication accordingly. Ever since I've had my thyroid removed and having an amazing Endocrinologist my lifestyle and health has been pretty awesome !! No complaints really. My mom has been seeing Dr Tran for a few years now and we love her. She's a very smart lady, sweet, soft spoken and very encouraging no matter the concern. She's very humble and accommodating. 1 time, there was a concern in my mom's test results. Dr Tran consulted w/ our primary physician and she called us on a weekend as to how to handle the situation moving forward. Most physician offices are closed on weekends so for us to get a call from her on a weekend meant the world to us. Unfortunately, we missed the call. But it didn't stop there. She had a staff call us on Monday to be sure we got her message and then called us again when we mentioned we had some questions. It was a quick call but very thorough and sweet. 1 of the best - if not the best - recommendation our primary physician has given us. Kudos, Dr Tran! Yes, the clinic was closed for a few months due to flooding in the building thus appointments had to be postponed to a later date pending the reopening of the clinic. Needless to say, for everyone's safety, no one was there to meet w/ patients during the clean up and repairs. As soon as they were back, they gave us a call to schedule mom's next visit. We've been back to see her and the clinic looks great. They have a great - and added - front desk/reception staff. Every once in awhile, we come across a staff who may be rude or have an attitude in our opinion. Let us just say or think that maybe he/she is having a bad hair day. DO NOT SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT HERE. I waited months for my appt. Then right before the appt they called me and told me I had to reschedule. I then waited months again, and right before my next appointment, they once again told me I had to be rescheduled to December. I asked my doctor for this referral back in February only to have this place tell me I can't be seen until December? No. At this point, this doctor needs to be shut down. People are in need of medical attention and his office is the only one we are being referred to with our insurance. It's disgusting malpractice. Stop stringing patients along. Don't leave them waiting for an appointment for almost a year just so you can cash in on their insurance money. This review does not apply to the amazing RN who assisted me during my first visit. He was so helpful and informative. The support staff, however, is horrible. The front desk person named Claudia has a serious attitude problem. Even her voicemail message sounds like it's annoyed that you called. Second appointment: I waited over an hour to be seen. No explanation. The lab appointment: They asked me to get a lab appointment. Before I arrived at LabCorp I called Dr. Tran's office to ask them to fax my lab order. When I arrived the fax was not there. I called again to let them know, "I am signed in for my appointment, but they said they haven't received your fax. Can you please resend?" 20 minutes later the LabCorp front desk person had to call on my behalf and even scolded them, "Your patient has been waiting over 20 minutes for your fax." This was before Covid. The last straw: I recently tried to reschedule an appointment. Claudia gave me a new date, and then hung up while I was still talking. I still have no idea what time my appointment is supposed to be. I'm just going to find a new Endo. read more

Dr Tran is a GODSEND!!!!! Listen, I've been diabetic since I was 8 so I was pretty lost and confused when my pediatrician dropped me at 21. For years and after 4 failed endos, I FINALLY found Dr Tran Now, Dr Tran isn't going to swat at your hand when your sugars are bad but she will hold your hand and tell you "we'll get through this together" and that's exactly what has happened. I've fought with my insurance for the last 3 years to get a CGM from Dexcom. Bc of Dr Tran's notes, convos with my other doctors, and above and beyond efforts, I was able to get my Dex last week. I've been wearing it a few days and it's the miracle I (and Dr Tran) have been praying and fighting so hard for. Diabetes is a hard thing to deal with. Dr Tran has been with me every step of my journey. She saw the defeat in my eyes our first meeting and she has since motivated and pushed me to better myself and health. I have been seeing Dr. Tran since 2012. First it was for my thyroid then we discovered my diabetes. For the past 10 years, her office had to move a few times but there's a very good reason I still stick with her. Under Dr Tran's care, both my thyroid and diabetes are very well managed. She always listens to and addresses my concern and never judged me for anything (I told her that there's no way I would exercise). She helped us planned for our two kids even with my thyroid and diabetes. Not only with Dr Tran, even the office staff (the ones that have been there for a while) literally watched my kids grow. Yes, their office can get very busy but once you are on a schedule with them, you are good. I rarely have any issues with my appointments. The couple of times that they did have to reschedule were due to reasons beyond their control (e.g. Dr Tran got sick and they recently experienced an unexpected pipe burst at their office). Just like everyone else, Dr Tran's office did experience some staffing shortage issues during Covid years, but they managed. There were a couple of times I had to wait a few more days to get my prescription but I acknowledge that it was my responsibility to monitor closely on when I need a new prescription. Because of that, I never had to miss any doses because they always get back to me. In the past year or so, they implemented texting. Honestly, it makes requesting for prescription even easier! After the past decade, Dr Tran (and some of the staff) and I are practically extended family. I do not wish to change a thing and plan to keep seeing Dr Tran for the next decade. read more

I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2004. Had to get the whole thing out. I originally had a different endocrinologist and all he did was up my Synthroid dose and i once ended up in the ICU. Thats when i decided to find a different one and turned out to be my savior. Dr tran figured out I'm a lil different and put me on Cytomel and now my thyroid level is perfect. And like clockwork with not having a thyroid, my A1C started to go up and she dealt with it like the genius dr that she is and put me on Ozempic and in a matter of 2 1/2 years I'm no longer pre-diabetic. Shes kept me going long enough to watch my children grow up and be on their own i've teased her to not retire till my youngest (17) is on his own hope she keeps on it. The cherry on top is that her staff matches her and they're wonderful. I have followed her from Lakewood, to Downey, to Pico and next, to her very own building soon And if that doesn't show how great she is i don't know what will. Btw i live in buena park. Worst experience I have EVER had with a doctors office. First of all the number on your referral will NOT work. I finally had to call my IPA, who was able to get through to these people after trying for a week. just to be told that they use text numbers to deal with patients. If you want to get through to the front desk, use this number: +1 (562) 317-0586. Finally after waiting 3 months I was able to get in. Staff was okay. One in particular seems a little too sensitive to deal with the public, but that's just my opinion. Dr Tran seemed fine. She did listen and ran testing that I requested. I think the biggest problem with this office is the way they communicate with their patients. If you want an appt, text the front desk. If you want your lab results, text the medical assistants. The one staff member that was helpful was Freddie. He spoke with Dr Tran and got authorization to mail out my lab results. Thank you Freddie! You guys really need to figure out a better way to communicate with your patients. Text is very unprofessional. honestly, I came in here with a great attitude and wanted help managing my diabetes. The first apt went well but Dr.Tran didn't know anything about the Omni pod I had. As an endo doctor, it's your job to keep up with the technology I felt unease but I decided to continue. The second appointment with a Nurse was so helpful he was amazing he made me feel great about myself and my health. Then I called to cancel and reschedule my appointment and someone from the front desk answered giving me a horrible attitude. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I actually had to research endos in my area, and schedule elsewhere because I did not feel comfortable with this "specialist" at all. To begin, you guys won't even speak much to her. Your initial appointment (and I'm assuming every other appointment after), will be with the physician's assistant for 95% of the time, and then she comes in the last 2-3 min to repeat everything the PA already told you. I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism/Graves about a month ago, and ended up in the hospital due to rapid heart rate (it got up to 160-something while at a resting state). I stayed there for 4 days and that was where they prescribed me Methimazole (10mg) and metoprolol (25mg) both twice daily. The physician's assistant asked to see both bottles of meds, READ THE MG AND INSTRUCTIONS OUT LOUD TO ME, ASKED ME IF I WAS TAKING THEM AS PRESCRIBED, AND TOOK NOTE OF ALL OF THIS. When the specialist finally came in to speak to me, she asked if I was breastfeeding. I said yes. She made a face, and I asked her if I should stop. She looked at the mg for both medications again, and told me not to stop because my dose was fairly low anyway. I asked her more than once, actually, because I wanted to make sure it was safe for my baby. Each time I asked, her answer was "don't stop." Not long after my appointment, I began to notice that my hair was falling out in clumps and naturally I freaked out. The physician's assistant had mentioned a radioactive pill, so I called the Dr's office to see if maybe I could skip the 2-year trial of medication and just jump straight to the radioactive pill (since it was offered to me previously by the PA). I had to leave a message, and she did not call me back till the next day. Her attitude was horrible. Completely dismissing my feelings/concerns. She was very sarcastic and even laughed at me a couple times. First, she tried to blame my hair loss on postpartum (but my baby was 3 months old at the time), she then told me I would not be eligible for the radioactive pill because I was breastfeeding. What she did not know was that I had stopped breastfeeding about a week prior. So I mentioned it to her, and she said "well you told me that you were going to breastfeed for a year? So why aren't you breastfeeding anymore?!" I didn't know I had to ask her for permission? I stopped because I didn't feel comfortable with all the medication I was on. I told her this. And she said "well yeah, I told you to stop!" I could not believe my ears!!! Not only was that a bold lie! She contradicted herself by pressing me on why I stopped, then proceeding to tell me that I shouldn't have been breastfeeding at all at that point. She also tried to tell me that the methimazole I was on should only be taken once a day. I reminded her that both she AND the physician's assistant read the instructions for both meds, and had nothing to say at the appointment. She didn't even apologize, instead she said that I told her otherwise (I didn't even mention the dosage at all to them), I just handed them the bottles, but I wasn't going to let her try to intimate me, so I didn't budge. In the end, she didn't even tell me to stop taking that second dose, she told me to continue taking it twice daily. I have a feeling this lady doesn't know what she's talking about, and even more importantly, does not like what she's doing. I have an appointment with Dr. Jennifer Hsieh in long beach and she has great reviews, so I'm looking forward to meeting her! read more

I read the previous reviews, and first let me say that as far as the people who rated Dr. Tran and her office as bad... well, I guess you get what you put out. In the past couple years I have never been treated by Dr. Tran or her staff with anything less than professionalism and respect. Dr. Tran does not treat me like a "number", she treats me like a living, breathing person that has some idea of her own health and body. Dr. Tran listens, then makes logical and appropriate evaluations and recommendations based on her education and experience. I have a tendency to do a lot of my own research, and when I go in and get her advice on new things I want to try as far as my diabetes maintenance is concerned, she treats me with respect (not like some doctors treat you like you are stupid, being just the "patient" and they are the doctor) while giving me her take and making helpful comments as far as things to consider as I take any particular course of action within reason (i.e. she never tells me "NO! Don't do that!!" but she will add to my knowledge base and let me make my own decisions too). So I guess what I would encourage you to do is give Dr. Tran an opportunity to provide you with compassionate and effective medical care, for the betterment of your day-to-day life. Or not. Make your own decision through your own experience - not necessarily through anyone else's as described here (good or bad). Excellent service as provided by any professional IS subjective after all. I think a lot of people don't want to change there lifestyle and want the doctor to fix them without them doing any work. I have changed my lifestyle and I have been working hard at losing weight by excrising and eating right. Doctor Tran is simply the best endcrinologist. I have seen a couple others, and they were not interested in working with me to improve my life with diabetes. She has been a great listener, she suggests treatments and drugs that others would not, which have helped tremendously. She teaches other endocrinologists how to do THEIR job. If you do not live in the immediate area you should consider the drive to Long Beach for an appoinment to be valuable time spent to get the best care. You are not a number to her, you are not a file. She remembers you, she works to help change your way of life, exercising and eating, without beating you up for a slip or berating you for who you are. She works to help you become who you can be. If she thinks you should use another medication your insurance does not authorize, she will fight for you to get it covered. If you are unhappy with your endocrinologist, give her a chance. THIS PLACE IS AWEFUL!!! Made appointment to visit doctor as she's near my house, in network, and I found a few good reviews. Show up to the stinkhole of a medical building and am immediately told payment needs to be made up front, cash or check only. Uh. WHAT? Despite the bitch at the front desk's rude insistence that she told me that, she most certainly did not otherwise I would have made arrangements to have $170 in cash at the time of visit. Doctor was not very nice at all. "45 minute initial consultation" took 5 minutes. Doctor actually told me to GOOGLE thyroid symptoms instead of thoroughly going over them with me. I was given lab slips for blood to be done immediately and in 6 weeks. 6 week labwork was completed then ignored by the doctor for a week and half. Called to see if they actually received the lab work, and when they said yes, asked them if they ever planned to call me and tell me the results or schedule an appt to come back. Again, I was blamed by the front desk because the doctor told me "she wanted to see me in 6 weeks" Uh. No. She did not. So fine, I call on Wed. 09/04/13 and am given the opportunity to book an appt. for 09/05/13 at 4:45pm. Guess what? I show up and the doctor "doesn't see patients on Thursday" Told 'em to eff off at this point. PS. Office overbilled at time of initial visit (their policy apparently, instead of billing insurance first) Still haven't received a refund for the the difference of what I paid and what the insurance covered. Front desk tells me "I don't have cash". NO SHIT. Proper procedure is to issue a check for the difference once you get the EOB thingy from the insurance. A month ago! Dr. Tran is a very capable, professional, knowledgable and caring endocrinologist. She has been treating my wife Rosie, the love of my life, for over 5 years and helped her to bring her diabetes under control. Rosie now takes fewer medications, has lost a great deal of weight and has lowered her A1C (best indicator of blood glucose levels) to a point where her overall health risks are dramatically lower than they have been in many years. Dr. Tran is always gentle while maintaining a firm commitment to getting and keeping Rosie on the path to wellness. She tells you the truth. The office staff are all friendly and take care of all the paperwork, appointment scheduling and personal phone reminders. The new office facilities are beautiful. Larger and more modern than the older building. The distance from our home Is longer by about 15 to 20 minutes, but the extra drive time is a tiny price to pay for the great care and outstanding results. My girlfriend comes here. Seemed like a good place to come. My girlfriend had hyperthyroid. Doctor recommend taking radiation to kill the thyroid and to be on medication "hormones" ok no problem. Dr Tran said it would take about 12 months to fully kill the thyroid, guess what!? My girlfriend was dying 2 months after the radiation was given to her. How did Dr Tran not know the speedy results of the radiation pill she took, I had to rush my girlfriend to the ER, she had no hormones and no thyroid. Second her hair is falling rapidly after 2 months and of taking levothyroxine. Asked if this is a side effect? guess what she said!? No! Guess what we found out? It is. She keeps saying her TSH is normal. But your hair doesn't fall if your TSH IS NORMAL. This doctor is highly incompetent. Beware of your REAL TSH LEVELS. read more
