This place was pretty cool. To be honest, it's kinda gimmicky. You can get a cake with your boba in those cool cups. Each drink is about 12 bucks. The boba was ok and the cake was not bad but not the freshest, dunno how long they been in those cups. It's a small little place with a few tables and the service was really friendly. There is free parking out front on Kingsway.....
Came here with friends as their kids wanted to try out Minus Cake Boutique so we came along with them. This place is definitely instagrammable as well as their cakes and drinks. They offer novelty products (the cake container is screwed on top of the drink lid) that sets it apart from all the other BBT and cake places in Vancouver. Our friends ordered #2, 3 and 9 while we ordered #4 chocolate caramel banana cake with Thailand iced thick cocoa with sago. The cake was delicious, not so sweet and the banana layer tasted fresh and not flavouring. The Thai cocoa was a bit too thick for my liking and the sago was mushy but it was chocolatey and well balanced in taste. Was able to try the strawberry shortcake and it was lovely while the mango cake was great too. Not a lot of seating options though if you're planning to dine in and it is quite pricey. Street parking is available around the area.

That night my friend and I had been invited by our hosted family, they had cooked a big meal for us, we were thinking what to have for dessert. The cake and drink from this store combined together shown a unique display. We wanted to buy only the cake in the ball, but they don't sell separately. So we had to buy the combos. We asked if we could select different combinations, the staff was ok with that, so we selected our own drinks with non-selected cakes. Our hosted family was also surprised by the feather of this combination. They tried and really liked it too.
Great service from the staff at Minus! They have a wonderful selection of cake rolls, even though I did not pre-order one. I ended up paying for a roll and asking them if they can keep it refrigerated for me so I can pick it up after my dinner. They helped take my name and number down and I was able to swing by later to grab it before I went home. Their drinks are a bit pricey but the cakes on top of the drinks are actually very well done. We have a friend whose standards for tiramisu is quite high mention this place does it wonderfully. I tried the melon cake and it tasted great. Not of artificial melon, but of proper fresh melon! I paired it with their rose chocolate drink, which was rich and delicious. These cups are super useful for those who might want to grab a snack and a drink and head to a nearby park with friends. Their design lets you eat and sip pretty conveniently.
Saw a lot of people post and had good things to say about this place so I had to check them out. Parking can be a little tough as it's right on Kingsway so I recommend parking on the side street. They close early so make sure you check your time before making a trip. You essentially get the best of both worlds if you like desserts. Not only do you get to mix and match, but you get a cake on top and bubble tea on the bottom. As there are so many options, I had to come twice and will come back again to try other flavors. A place to get cake AND bubble tea? Yes please! I had such high hopes entering the shop. It was all too good to be true, and my dreams were crushed. The cakes ended up being too creamy and buttery and just too much. And where was the bubble tea? Two sips and I've hit bottom. The drink and cake combo is fun for the eyes, but sad for your tastebuds.
I was searching for pastries and bubble tea drinks online. I suddenly found this new cake shop that sell both cakes and beverages at the same time. It's differentiated themselves from others or so many bubble tea shops! I think this is a good idea as there are too many bubble tea places around already. I decided to drive to this cake shop and gave it a try especially today was such a HOT day!! I looked at one of the three pieces of menus on their countertop and ordered a combo #3 - coconut mango cake with passion fruit grapefruit refresher at $13.50 for takeout. This combo matched the summer! Then, I looked at the second piece of the menus and wanted to order an individual sesame matcha red bean cake (at $6.95). However, the server said that I had to order both cake and beverage as a combo. Then, I was wondering.... why did you have a menu that has listed the individual beverages and cakes on a menu? Anyway, I went by myself, so in the end I only ordered the combo #3 and forgot about the individual matcha cake. I might come back to try the combo #5 - sesame matcha red bean cake with avocado cheese yogurt next time. While I was waiting for the shop to make the beverage, I looked around the shop. I saw all the cakes that the shop has been prepared in the fridge looked very cute especially the container and shape of the cakes. I have never seen them anywhere else. I was hoping the cakes would be delicious (even though I had not tired it at that moment yet). I also looked at the interior design, which was done very well. I really liked the light teal/blue colour they have chosen and decorations they put on the walls. It's just unfortunate that I could not sit and enjoy my cake and beverage in the shop due to the pandemic. I tried my cake and beverage. The beverage was not too sweet (which was about right) and it was really refreshing especially I drank it in a hot day!! The cake tasted good. It's just myself that I don't like too much white cream, so I scooped some out (haha..). Overall, the customer service was good. Other than selling the small bowls of cakes and beverages, they also sell cake rolls with different flavours at different sizes. You can call to preorder the cakes in advance. I think they have good strategies and diversify their business but not only selling beverages and small bowls of cakes. I hope their business will succeed and more customers will come to support this shop. Why did I not give five stars? - It's a bit hard to find parking because of the busy street Kingsway. I drove to the residential area. There were quite a lot of cars as well. I was lucky to get a parking spot. - The menus were literally printed on a piece of 8.5x11 paper and the paper has been used and touched by customers many times, so the menus got wrinkles and they did not look professional. It's just a soft opening. I guess the cake/drink shop will print a better menu later. - The menus showed individual cakes and beverages at their own prices. I did not understand why I could not buy them separately (there might be a reason).
I wanted to try this place because who doesn't like cake with their bubble tea? They have a wide assortment of flavours and I like that you can mix n match, which is what I did. The mango coconut jelly cake was delicious, but the strawberry milk was underwhelming. They make their strawberry compote in house, but the drink is 90% milk and imo this isn't worth $6. It's a unique concept and worth trying, but with the price tag I'd rather go to an actual bbt shop that has pearls & coconut jelly on the menu
The cutest little bubble tea and cake shop, where you get two desserts! As soon as I saw this on Instagram I have been meaning to go and so glad I finally did. There are set combos of cake and drinks, but it is also customizable for a couple more dollars. Primarily Asian flavoured options for drinks and cakes from mochi, the Dalgona craze, and tropical fruits everything sounds delicious so you might want to take a look at the menu before heading in. We had preordered our custom drinks and cakes and set our pickup time, but there was still a bit of a wait. Seems like the cakes are all premade, however their presentation and process reminds me of Japan, where they take a lot of care in assembling, and affixing all the finishing touches. #instaworthy We ordered the brown sugar hojicha mochi cake with the creamy corn milk, and pandan pineapple coconut cake with fresh kiwi lemonade. Their cakes are very whipped cream based and super rich and heavy, but their flavours are bang on! Corn milk drinks are very Asian, and this one was delicious and corny, and I love that there were still some corn niblets in it. The freak kiwi lemonade was not too sweet and surprisingly very tangy/carbonated which was actually a good thing to help cut down the richness of the cake. Everything was delicious, and the presentation was amazing! I will definitely be back to different combinations. It is a pricey at about $14, so I'll save my next visit for a special treat.
This is dessert overkill and I have to say I quite enjoyed the experience. A serving of sponge cake inside a sphere on top of a bubble tea, the ultimate guilty pleasure. For the drinks that we tried, they went very well with the cake and most importantly, the whole meal were not too sweet. The coconut mango cake with passionfruit grapefruit refresher was a no brainer in flavour combination. A tropical paradise! However, I could not taste much coconut flavour but that was not a problem. The mango pudding really tied everything together. The house taro milk with an unique mayo pork floss sprinkled over taro cake was a highlight and a must get item. Savoury and earthy sweetness go hand in hand and the balance was just right to create very interesting flavours. And I appreciate fresh taro paste was used in their drink as well. The unique drink cup looked intimidating but actually was very stable and just perfect distance to take a zip and then a bite. Will definitely give this another go once I burn off this meal.
Minus cakes and more on kingsway has a selection of sweet cakes and drinks. Get their happy hour deal from 3pm-6pm everyday it's $12 for the combo of cake and drinks! It's good you can mix and match them because I was stuck on what to get with some of the mixtures I didn't really like but when I created my own combo it was perfect! Although I would like to try more flavours and combos I got a Japanese matcha yuzu cake I'm a sucker for those flavours! Although the yuzu part was quite sour lemony for my taste I like the pairing with matcha because you can never go wrong with matcha The drink I got brown sugar tapioca milk tea latte which i was afraid it would be super milky but it's not too bad and the pearls were quite good especially with the brown sugar which made it super sweet. I quite enjoyed the drink because of the tapioca
I love Minus Cake Boutique! Their cafe is cute and clean, and their cake/drink combo Tiramisu Cake + Heavy Choco London Milk Tea is heavenly. It's refreshing and tasty, the coffee taste of the tiramisu is not overly strong. The combo is very complimentary. The pandan milk chocolate mojito cake was soooo good, I thought it was even better than the tiramisu cake, but I wouldn't recommend it with the coconut mango sago slush. Those two flavors are meant to be enjoyed individually. Come here with an empty stomach, because while the cakes are quite moist, the cake/drink combos are still a lot to eat.
They don't have a brick and mortar store now but you can order from their website site, by email or dm them on Instagram. This is the second time ordering cakes from them and we love their cakes. We find that their cakes aren't too sweet and always have interesting flavours. Before I was scared on fondant cake because I am afraid that the fondant will be too sweet. Their fondant isn't too sweet and reminds me of marshmallows. Now without a brick and mortar store, they offer free delivery. I also find their pricing fair and their 6 inch cake was enough for 16 people. read more

Friend picked up this roll for our snack. Positive, fresh cream, real ingredients without all the fillers and thickening agents and no side effects post consumption. The cream was still stable in the fridge the next day, which is impressive as I couldn't detect the stabilisers. The cake itself was moist and light. I see the direction they were going for. My personal preference considering most cake Minus Boutique offers are made to order which is excellent quality control, hence my negative is "its barely sweet' hence its not sweet at all for my personal consumption. Also, the strawberry was so tart, lacking a glaze it felt like a sad dried up thinly sliced strawberry. The cream to cake ration was more cake with fresh cream than a traditional "roll cake". Minus Cake's Vanilla is just not "egg flavour" and not "Vanilla as in Vanilla flavour". Overall the roll itself considering all it's merits is not my preference. read more

Super cute concept, I love the idea of the mini cake and drink set. Was nervous about coming here because reviews were a mixed bag, some said you can't do certain combos, etc. but we were able to pick our cake and pick our drink. We got the pandan mint mojito cake and heavenly berry aide. I didn't find the cake heavy but I didn't particularly like it either, pandan cake itself was flavorful but everything else didn't mesh well, the unsweetened cacao felt unnecessary. The drink was so good! Muddled berries and sparkling water, no better combo than that. The cups they use are higher quality than average drink shops. Service was friendly and quick, shop is small. It's a fun experience and one I see taking off every where, especially in Seattle. read more
After seeing many posts about this place on IG, I finally got to visit and ordered the #1 (strawberry shortcake with strawberry milk) and #2 (matcha with lemon cake, and matcha drink) most popular drinks (per their menu) to try. The concepts and design looked cute, interesting and service was pretty quick. We also wanted to order a small cake cup to go for a friend, but strangely they wouldn't let us. I had also thought there would be boba options with the drinks, as many mention this on yelp, but when we went, there was no options or photos of drinks with boba, so not sure if they have removed this recently. Kinda sad about no boba. Anyways, out of the two combos we got, I enjoyed the matcha with lemon cake better. It had good texture and flavors... but the strawberry shortcake was pretty basic. Both portions were very small. My friend and I also weren't fans of either of the strawberry or matcha milk drinks that came with the combo. We both couldn't finish the drinks - something didn't taste right and we both felt sick afterwards. I called later to let them know about it, and the gal just said thanks, the milk came in today so it shouldn't be bad ... ? All in all, I'm glad I tried this spot, but for the price ($12-14 per combo), I felt what we got to be quite expensive. The bakery in the back looks like it does very cute cakes and designs. You can watch them decorate if you go towards the back, which was fun to see. I'd be curious to try one of those but will avoid the drinks here. read more

Brown Sugar Hojicha Mochi Cake with Cold Brew Soda Tea This cake and drink combination is definitely cute and unique! The cake is made with layers of hojicha flavoured sponge cake, whipped cream, small pieces of mochi balls and brown sugar. The cake was soft and was not overly sweet while the cream was rich and smooth. I really enjoyed the chewiness of the mochi balls. However, I found the hojicha flavour quite subtle and would prefer it to be stronger. The Cold Brew Soda Tea was very refreshing and had a nice fizz to it. Overall, I found that there was more whipped cream than cake and the price was slightly on the more expensive side but I would still come back and check out their other flavours! read more

The cake and drink concept is interesting. I tried this for the first time and really enjoyed the experience. However, I found the cake to be the star of the combination and wished I could just buy the cake on its own. It was the perfect individually sized portion. This option unfortunately was not available. I ordered the lemon raspberry cheesecake and hawthorn dates refresher. The cheesecake tasted like a high quality dessert you get at a bakery. The refresher was a lightly sweetened drink. You can still order regular sized cakes from this location. I would need to find a birthday or another special occasion to order a cake here. read more

Service was super friendly and welcoming and the drinks were amazing. Interior was super cute and cozy for a cafe. Found it creative to incorporate cake balls on top of their drinks but the mix and match options make it super fun not to mention their cakes were just as good! Great range of selection both slush and cake. The atmosphere is chic and modern. Beautiful furnitures and arts. Great customer service and quite welcoming. Parking isn't the best (it's Kingsway it's bound to have insane traffic and no where to park). A bit expensive but the taste is rich and luxurious so I could see why the pricing is more than usual. It's definitely a combo you'd want to keep coming back to try since the variety is large. Their container/cup is one of a kind and is their patten. Seating area is small even without covid I couldn't see that place to be a hang out it's small. Great place overall. Loving the concept of having cake and slush just in 1 hand! I would suggest they invest maybe in a fancier spoon given everything else is quite unique and fancy. Good to have that different kind of spoon to differ them from the rest. Yummy cake! Came here to try out their drinks and cake combo because we had a BOGO 50% off deal. We got combo 1 which had Vanilla Osmanthus Lychee Cake & Lychee Aloe Vera Salted Cheese Cap and Combo 2 which had Taro Soy Custard Cake & Blueberry Lavender Slush. I thought the drinks were a bit too sweet for me (I like 0% sugar in my bbt) the blueberry lavender slush was really interesting and it was pretty good. Between the two cakes, I liked the vanilla osmanthus lychee cake more than the taro soy custard. The taro soy custard was so sweet compared to the vanilla osmanthus lychee cake which was lighter in taste. Even with our deal, the total came to about $22 for both combos. If it was cheaper, I would definitely visit and try their other combos but because of the price it's not really worth visiting regularly. read more
Now fully opened, Minus Cake Boutique is nestled amongst many bubble tea chains on Kingsway. However what makes Minus Cake stand out is their unique combo cake and drink. The cake was delicious and reminded me of the fruit birthday cakes of my childhood. The drink was fresh and just the perfect amount of sweetness. The cups are actually made of a thicker plastic which is a tiny detail but definitely one that did not go unnoticed. Can wait to be back and try more! read more
What a cool concept of having the dessert ball screw into the boba cup! I really really like the earl grey dessert I got! It was delicious and not rich at all. I would come back again to visit when I am in the country again. read more

Cute but overpriced. Everything was just okay for the taste, total for the matcha cake + drink (one of their top rated) was over $13. Overall, the cake flavor was okay it just did not compliment the taste of the drink, a little disappointing. read more
If I could I would give this place a 3.5 star rating. I think the concept of the cake+bbt concept is really great honestly! Really cute looking and the taste is up to par of what it looks like. Although price is steep, as a dessert lover I found it worth to try this place atleast once. I got the #1 combo and I was pleasantly surprised! I love mousse cake so this peach mousse was really nice, light and fruity. I'm not too big on desserts that are TOO sweet and I was a bit apprehensive about the Oreo layer to the cake but it complemented the sponge cake and mousse really well. I was really impressed by the chunks of actual peach in the cake! It added a nice fresh touch to the cake. I don't know if I would pay $7.50 alone for this personal sized cake but it was quite enjoyable. The drink was nice and refreshing! One flaw about it is that because it has milk foam on the top layer you can't really drink it through the straw. So you end up getting a mouth full of foam when you finish the drink. I think it would be best consumed without the straw to get the full foam+slush experience. Overall I think this place is really cute and serve quality desserts! I would recommend getting the cup and cake combo although it may only give you a $0.50 discount from ordering them separately. This is most definitely a place you go to treat yourself. read more

Great concept and pretty great cake/milk tea! Definitely coming back soon. I got the strawberry cake/milk tea and it was really refreshing. My girlfriend liked hers a bit less but we are excited to go back and try new flavours. read more

Their cup is definitely very unique and trendy. Have never seen this kind of design before. They have a small sphere with artfully decorated cakes in it, attached to the top of a drink cup which is made fresh to order. Seems like the flavors are inspired by Asian foods, but not so far outfield that it is unrecognizable. The drinks are fresh and light, not enough to make you have a food coma, but also just enough that you leave feeling satisfied. 10/10 will come back to try some of their other pairings like Taro Soy custard with Blueberry Lavender slush. read more
Cute gem alert. * This place opened up not too long ago, and it's tucked away in a little shop right on Kingsway. They specialize in a lot of unique cakes and the best part is that they have cake and drinks combo which is the most instagram worthy thing ever! Plus the decor in the shop was so worth coming at least once! * #8 earl grey toasted milk cake, honeycomb dalgona latte ($13) ~ this was so unique and creative! Not only is the presentation super nice it tasted as good as it looks! * The earl grey cake was good, despite the frosting and creme it actually wasn't too sweet. The early grey was hint but was incorporated and combined nicely with the light creme and crumbles! * The honeycomb dalgona latte itself was mind blowing! I really liked how strong the dalgona coffee was. The honeycomb was a nice subtle touch where it was semi sweet but not overpowering the coffee flavour. The coffee stood out very well and I can definitely see myself coming back just for it! The dalgona was smooth, rich, creamy, and super fluffy. The honeycomb was the right amount and it was absolutely astonishing. * 8/10 ~ I did wish the earl grey cake had more earl grey flavouring in it! But overall the sponge cake was nice and moist and smooth not rough! * 4/10 ~ it's expensive for a small ball of cake and a dalgona latte but the experience and photos are I guess worth it at least once. I do gotta admit the containers were nice and good quality too so if your tryna get creative maybe you can try to make your own at home! read more
