Here's my hot-take about Nero Waffles...the BRUSSELS square waffle are 100% must-try, whereas their LIÈGE circular waffles was a hard pass. My friend & I tried: -Smashed avocado BRUSSELS savoury waffle (4/5) really enjoyed the taste of the cheese infused crispy, airy, but melt-in-your-mouth waffle on its own. I wished there were 2 poached eggs rather than just the 1. I'd also rather the salad and avocado on the side instead. -Ham & Cheese LIÈGE stuffed waffle (3.5/5) the waffle itself wasn't too impressive, liked the stuffing though -Pistachio & Vanilla custard mini LIÈGE waffles (2.5/5) again, the waffle texture was unimpressive, dense & softer, not crispy. Vanilla custard was nice and you can see vanilla bean flecks. After grabbing dinner with some friends, we wanted to grab dessert. I knew Nero Waffle was nearby, so I suggested it. I've only been to the original location on Robson years ago, so wasn't sure if the quality had stayed the same, but we thought it was worth trying. We ordered a Tiramisu and a Bresilienne to share between four people. It came out it in relatively short time. And wow, they were both even better than I remember. Their waffles are incredibly crisp and light, despite the amount of toppings on them. I don't know how they make them so they stay so resistant to going soggy. And despite the amount of whipped cream, ice cream and sauce on them, the waffle was always able to balance out the sweetness. Their waffles are just perfect balance of flavour and texture. Service was also quite impressive. Our server was very pleasant and attentive, and brought share plates with out being asked. Overall, a great dessert. Cutie little waffle bar on Seymour. Went in to try their savoury and sweet waffles. Was in a waffley mood . Had the ham and cheese waffle with a nicely presented salad. The savoury waffle was a bit soft and the ham a bit dry. I believe if you come in early it would be better, but the flavour was delicious . P.s..Please add more cheese The salad was crispy and fresh. We ordered the 21 mini waffle set, which came with the following flavors: Pistachio Vanilla Custard Biscoff Lemon Filled Dark Chocolate Raspberry Original I tried the pistachio, biscoff, and raspberry. The raspberry was my favorite. I was surprised at how much I liked it. The waffle was sprinkled with freeze dried raspberries which added a nice tartness to the sweetness of the raspberry flavored chocolate. The pistachio was a bit disappointing, because the topping tasted like plain white chocolate and the only pistachio flavor that I tasted was from the toasted pistachios that were sprinkled on top. Fun place to try for waffle lovers. The menu features sweet and savoury waffles great for breakfast, brunch, or dessert. You can dine in and order from the full menu of Belgian waffles or grab a mini liege waffle and beverage from the to-go counter. I've seen them get busy, but when I went for a weekday lunch with a friend, there was no wait for a table. I tried the brie waffle (brie cheese, apples, and greens with balsamic vinaigrette) when I went for brunch, and also have tried their churro and pistachio liege waffles. I got the brie waffle with their gluten-friendly buckwheat waffle since I really like buckwheat. The flavour of the buckwheat waffle was nice but it was very airy and a little dry. The brie topping was great. The menu changes seasonally so I don't think they're currently offering this version of the brie waffle, but they have a different baked brie waffle on the menu now. The liege waffles are very good - these are rich but still fluffy. The churro liege had the dulce de leche custard inside which was a REALLY nice treat. I think the churro liege is also out of the rotation at the time of writing, but they have other custard-stuffed flavours. The liege waffles are rather sweet, but they make a good occasional treat. They also have a full coffee bar. Their London fog was pretty good. The dine-in service was kind of slow, but the staff were very pleasant. I definitely recommend the place if you like waffles and want to try some unique waffle flavours! read more

Walked into Nero to a very warm and welcoming hello and seated immediately. Since it was my first time I was taking a little long to decide but the waitress was patient and checked if I had any questions. Finally after debating with myself for 10 minutes I went with the strawberry and chocolate waffle and a lavender London fog latte. You get 2 options for the waffles which were explained that one was more crispy and the other more soft. I went with the crispy waffle. When my dish arrived it was so beautiful I didn't want to touch it. I also was surprised at how big it was and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to eat it all myself. I was wrong. The waffle was so light and crispy that even though it looked heavy and like a lot, it really wasn't. The texture was perfect and the crispy lightness was complemented by the strawberries and chocolate. I enjoyed every single bite. I understood the hype. The lavender London fog was disappointing. I didn't get any lavender flavour and it was a bit watered down for my liking. In any case the waffle more than made up for it. I'll be back and want to try the liege waffles next. read more

Yum! I'm not usually a savory waffle person but this was very tasty. The waffle was crunchy yet soft. The Peruvian peppers on the smashed avocado were excellent!! I thought the small waffles would be sweeter and more flavorful so giving a 4 instead of a 5. It's a very cute brunch shop in downtown Vancouver with delicious food as well. I would recommend coming early as this place is very popular and there can be a wait! My boyfriend and I ordered: - Smoked Salmon Benedict - Black sesame mini liege waffle - Cranberry orange mini liege waffle - Matcha latte The smoked salmon benedict was definitely a surprise. They use a different batter than the liege waffles so it's lighter and fluffier, and the hollandaise sauce was light rather than heavy (which it definitely looked heavy) Smoked Salmon Benedict ($21) - I did not think this was anything special, however, my friends loved it! They preferred it over the sweet waffle we got. The mini liege waffles were a bit more disappointing as they were difficult to cut through, but the flavors were very much present. Next time I'll try one of their signature waffle creations rather than opting for a liege waffle. Our server was also super nice and accommodating - unfortunately I couldn't get his name - I wanted a matcha latte like I did back in 2018 and it was no longer on their menu, but he was able to still put one together for me! read more

That said, I'd prefer a little less Nutella to balance the sweetness. I always opt for the Brussels waffle as it's light, airy, and provides the perfect crispy base. My husband enjoyed the Tiramisu Waffle with a chocolate Brussels waffle-- It was rich without being too heavy. The lattes are a great addition, whether you prefer them warm or iced. I love that they offer alternative milks (oat, almond). The service is consistently kind, and the food arrives fairly quickly. However, I do find that I'm often left waiting 15-20 minutes for the check after finishing, even when it's not busy. It's not a huge issue, but it's something to be aware of if you're in a hurry. When the weather is nice, the patio is our preferred seating option--perfect for enjoying a summer evening dessert. The indoor seating is cute and cozy too, so you can't go wrong either way. While I miss some of the seasonal flavors from last year (Mango and Pear), everything on the menu is always delicious. I've also tried their savory waffles in the past, and they're just as delicious. Our waiter was so kind and patient. Highly recommend the baked Brie and lemon ricotta. Everything about our dishes was spot on, except maybe I wish for more hazelnuts on the baked Brie. Upon walking up to the front, you're intrigued on what this is. As we were greeted snd seated, you first see waffles on display and you immediately grow hungry. It's a small place but cute. They have these cubby holes for window seating. And they even have seating outside. Perfect to enjoy your waffle meal (or dessert) and the weather. Upon looking at the menu you have to make a difficult decision because everything sounds wonderful. I was completely sold on the Tiramisu and it did not disappoint. The pictures in reviews looked big so we opted to share. After demolishing it, I knew I could eat a whole one myself but it was best that I didn't since we just had dinner. 4.5 Stars I did not know waffles could be like THIS. They have sweet and savoury waffle creations on three types of waffles. The Belgian Waffles (we tried both the regular and buckwheat) and crispy, buttery, and airy. The liege waffles are rich, soft, dense and sugary. They are both heavenly and decadent (the buckwheat *feels* a bit healthier though, lol. Had to wait about 30-40 minutes on a Sunday around noon-ish but their wait list is handy and we were able to camp at a nearby coffee shop. Tried the: Ham Benedict ($20) on a buckwheat Belgian waffle - the ham is prosciutto-like, eggs are small and slippery and nicely poached. The hollandaise is super fluffy. Belgian Waffle ($6.5) with Whipped Cream ($3) and Maple Syrup ($3) - buttery and crispy, like so crispy when you cut it with a knife it shattters Liege Waffle ($6.5) - Even by itself it was lovely. I preferred the liege waffles, a soft and sweet waffle with raw edges, over the Brussels waffle which is crispy and light rectangle waffles. I had the pear waffle and the pear was sooo good. The guy packing the take out orders today is so rude and unprofessional. He doesn't handle the orders properly, then is giving people waffles that people before them already ordered, then there is not enough for previous order. He is terrible. Don't even apologize, just rolled his eyes and said there is not enough to make the order already paid, and walked away without any further explanation. The girl ringing the orders at the till also didn't ask him to pack waffles before she made an order for next person with the waffles they didn't even have for next order. Then I asked to get the refund since barely anything is left and I was supposed to have two kinds times 7, instead of assortment. Loved this unique, delicious brunch place! We had the avocado toast and Burrata prosciutto waffles. They were incredibly fresh, tasty, and waffles perfectly crispy and chewy. The presentation was exceptional - - you can tell that every item was purposely placed and the array of the colors of the vegetables was so pleasing to the eyes. Their cafe drinks were superb too and went very nicely with the waffle entrees. Service was great and all in all, our experience at Nero Waffles was fab! My husband and I stopped in here on a whim because we had just had dinner next door, so we wanted to pick up some waffles to have for dessert back at the hotel. It was a Monday at around 7 PM and there were quite a few people dining there. They have both sweet and savory waffles, or you can get some waffles to go. We didn't want to commit to a whole Belgian waffle and we saw they had mini waffles, so we went with that. They have various flavors but since it was the end of the day, they didn't really have any of the ones we wanted (i.e. the custard). We ended up getting the strawberry and a regular but after we paid, they said they didn't have regular either, so we were basically forced to pick a different flavor. We picked churro. The strawberry waffle was way too sweet, as expected, and both waffles tasted old. I wouldn't recommend getting the mini waffles, unless you're coming in the morning - maybe they make them fresh then? If you're going to come later in the day, you should just opt for the Belgian waffle because it seems they make those fresh, continuously. But just based on the mini waffles, it was not a good experience. read more
