It was a great combination of sweet and savory and perfect for people like me who just want to try a bit of everything! The cakes unfortunately didn't taste as good as they looked but the sandwiches were great and I'd definitely opt for a full size sandwich next time. We got the strawberry black tea which had really great flavors and Oreo boba tea as well as the adorable bumblebee cheesecake, raspberry chocolate cake, and bubble tea pancakes. I went here with a friend after dinner. We went 3-4 different places, and none of them had seats or did not open until 10PM. Took time looking up on Yelp and Google and finally! Mr Mustache was still open, thank God! None of us knew what to order. We ordered Pu Erh Macchiato ($5.70) and Earl Grey Bubble Tea ($5.50). Our drinks tasted okay. I liked the pearls in my drink, but the drink was bland. Staff helped me making my drink with 30% sweetness, but it wasn't too special. It was a bit watery. I wish there was more variety of Milk Tea on the menu. I'm usually a huge fan of Thai Milk Tea, Roasted Milk Tea and Assam Milk Tea. Roasted Milk Tea was on the menu, however it wasn't available. Staff was really nice. He didn't try kicking us out 10 mins before closing. My pal and I were glad that Mr Mustache opens until 10 PM. I used to come here a lot when it was Cafe Joie since they had amazing desserts and drinks. I saw online that Mr. Moustache has cute desserts and I came here to try their bumblebee cheesecake. What a disappointment! This place definitely does not make their desserts fresh. I could tell after the first bite that it's been sitting overnight. My friend ordered the matcha cake and it was stale. The bubble tea is better than their cakes, but that's not saying much. I ordered the honey milk tea with pearls and other than the tea being strong, it was bland. Now the worst part of my experience was the service. There was a male & female behind the counter and the male didn't talk at all. I ordered from the female and she didn't look like she wanted to be there. Don't bother asking questions about the menu because she'll just stare at you with no expression. It was very awkward. When I got my bubble tea there weren't any pearls. I told the girl I ordered pearls and she replied "oh, well I didn't charge you for them." I pulled my credit card back out and she made me another drink and of course didn't apologize for the mistake. Teetering with this review on the 3 star or 4 star rating... As reviewers have already mentioned, Mr. Mustache's second location has opened up right across from Metrotown in what was Cafe Joie's spot. There is still a signage on the board outside for Cafe Joie if you're travelling south to the location but don't be fooled, it is now Mr. Mustache. I have been to Cafe Joie before and Mr. Mustache doesn't look like they've done much to change the interior as it still has the same wooden tables as before in Cafe Joie. Came here with the intention of trying the infamous Macchiato drinks that they seem to be known for and felt that it was a little underwhelming. It was just the tea base of your choice with a cream on top. Thought the drink would've been nice with a little more texture so I wanted to add pearls into the drinks but the cashier said that it wasn't recommended so I didn't get it but now looking back, I definitely should have followed by own instincts instead. Also tried the chocolate hazelnut mochi bread and if there's two things I don't like, it's chocolate and bread so I would usually never get this but a friend wanted to try it out and so we did. BEST decision made! While the bread looks like a mini loaf, the staff will cut it up for you so you can easily grab it and eat it. The bread does have a loafy bread texture but the chocolate is more of a dark chocolate powder so not super sweet. The mochi is stringy and the hazelnuts definitely add to the crunch. Only thing I missed about this one was that they would warm up the bread for you so that the mochi would be warm and stringy and I guess it is a bread thing but the ends of the bread didn't have any of the ingredients so it was just plain chocolate bread so if you're not a fan of bread like I am, the ends were definitely unpleasant to eat. Overall, not sure how I feel about the drink since it didn't blow my mind or anything but the chocolate mochi bread was definitely a winner! read more

Checked out the place because I've been curious what has replaced Cafe Joie. Basically nothing has changed inside since Mr. Mustache took over from Cafe Joie that used to be there. It seems like the same place, just rebranded since the offerings are similar as well. There isn't a big selection of food to choose from. The display case is a little sad looking. Nevertheless, what they do have is super cute!! Especially the bee cheesecake. It tasted very good too～ It's always nice when food tastes as good as it looks! Drink selection is good. Mostly the same as any other bbt shop. I always order half sweet, and it turned out pretty well. It's not overly sweet, but I definitely wouldn't like the full sugar drinks. The place was quite empty when I arrived but filled up very quickly at night. There aren't a lot of seats in the cafe so if it gets busy, there's definitely no place to sit. read more

I ordered their Muddy (brown sugar) Milk Tea and the bee-shaped cheesecake on a Sunday afternoon, and am glad to say I enjoyed my time there. The cheesecake had a funny taste at first, but I think it's the yellow coating (there's a bit of a mango taste?), the actually cheesecake inside was substantial, not too sweet, and enough for you to just enjoy some cheesy/creamy taste. Love love love Mr. Mustache! I've been coming here for almost a year now and I must say it's my favourite bubble tea spot. I usually get the green tea slush, papaya milk, or mango slush! They use real fruit too (an entire papaya)! The fruit green teas are also very refreshing. I also love getting any of the following toppings: coconut jelly, pearls, red bean, or pudding. The flavours that I would likely not get again are the purple rice red bean, avocado slush, and the muddy pearl tea. They just were either lacking flavour or not my cup of tea. As for sweets, definitely try the tiramisu and mochi bread! The bread has hazelnuts and chocolate in it as well and isn't overly sweet. I recommend heating it a little bit before eating it. The matcha, cheesecake, and the passion fruit (similar to the cheesecake) dessert are also pretty good. I use to love the coffee bar but they have recently changed the recipe to add a raspberry filling, which I don't think goes well together. Definitely, the best boba I've tried thus far. read more

Mr. Mustache has recently moved into the space Cafe Joy used to be and I was eager to try the desserts and the teas. I had an opportunity to try the Pu'er tea macchiato and was pleasantly surprised. Unlike the other drinks that have a similar concept (creama drinks, salted cheese drinks, mousse drinks etc) the macchiato kept true to its namesake and has a very foamy texture, giving the drink a nice smooth creamy taste. It retained its shape above the tea relatively well and was extremely aesthetic even when it started to mix with the tea. Speaking of aesthetics, I've got to tip off my hat to the folks that did the design work because it is SO on point and so freaking adorable. The attention to detail was a nice touch as well and was apparent in the way that even the stamp cards had different moustaches in each of the little slots for when you bought a drink. I haven't had a chance to try the desserts yet but I'm looking forward to my next visit. read more

Quite a cozy little tea house, where many young people work/study, more crowded in the weekend. Drinks are very good in my opinion. I had the earl grey machiatto which is sightly sweet earl grey tea top with milk (evaporated I think) and salty cream, right to my liking. Hubby had sparkling peach tea which has tiny bits of peach flesh, refreshing, again not too sweet. Their drinks contain very less crushed ice, which enough to make drink cold but not diluted the drink, love that . Cups design are cute and unique, cups material are strong plastic not the cheap one. Desserts are instagram worth and taste okay. We had Tiramisu and Earl grey mousse. Will be back to try other drinks and the Cheesecake next time. I feel like the quality of the cakes isn't quite there anymore with Mr. Mustache. Their cakes used to seem very fresh but having worked in a bakery, you start to notice features that mean the cake is old-such as discolored chocolate pieces (looks a little ashy), the cookie at the bottom of the cakes are softer now than before, their bee cheesecakes no longer have a sheen/gloss like it used to which may be a result of freezing and thawing. I haven't had chance to try their drinks since I started noticing these small changes but I'll have to give it a try next time I'm back. read more

I have always wanted to try Mr. Mustache Tea & Dessert, but the first location was just a little far for me to visit it, and I'm really glad this one opened up right across Metrotown! We got the Bumblebee Cheesecake, the Japanese Green Tea Macchiato and the Mochi Hazelnut Bread. The cheesecake's presentation was amazing, and I loved all the details on it which created the bumblebee look. I really enjoyed how the presentation of the cheesecake did not compromise the taste of the cheesecake. The Japanese Green Tea Macchiato was very unique, I personally did not really enjoy the cream on top but it was certainly something new! I also just wished that they gave instructions on how to drink the macchiato as we didn't really get to the cream until we drank most of the green tea. (I still unfortunately do not know if I was supposed to mix it all together from the start, or just drink it layer by layer... ) The Hazelnut Mochi Bread did not disappoint as well, it was just a little big, and I wish they had the option to buy it by the slice rather than the whole loaf. The location is pretty convenient, basically where Cafe Joie used to be. They have a few tables set up outside, but its nothing glamorous. I couldn't resist getting a bumble bee shaped cheesecake (around $7), it was almost too cute to eat (seriously, I spent a few minutes holding my fork thinking "I don't want to poke the bee's head" haha). It was pretty small but taste-wise it was pretty delicious. I went twice that week just out of convenience and tried the mango green tea (which I liked, it had some tart mango pieces at the bottom which made for a refreshing drink on a hot day) and the strawberry calpis drink? (which i didn't like as much, it was carbonated and a bit too sweet for my preferences). A drink and dessert came out to about $12-13 which isn't cheap but the quality and craftsmanship in the dessert is there for sure, and it makes for a cute instagram picture! read more

Their service is heavily lacking and it looks as though they're suffering every second that they're standing behind the counter. They all go on their phones and don't even interact with each other... took them a solid minute before I said something to get their attention and take my order. I'm not expecting them to be best friends with each other, but man, the rapport is nonexistent. One person was doing all the work the entire time while the remaining two just did whatever on their phones. (It wasn't busy at all, maybe just three people in the cafe with one or two others coming in after me.) I ordered the Peach Mousse cake and the Matcha cake, and was pleased by the Peach Mousse cake! There were actual peaches in the center, and it was shaped as a cute plump heart. The Matcha cake, on the other hand, was questionable... the chocolate leaf decoration tasted like cardboard and I therefore didn't dare taste the chocolate ladybug decoration. The matcha flavour was strong and wasn't sweet at all, which is to my liking--however I do know that some will be surprised by it as many are used to consuming the sweetened version of matcha. Thinking about it, was the $7 really worth the tiny portion of a hit-or-miss mousse cake when I could've just spent $1.50 more for a reasonably-sized, filling slice of mille crepe cake? Probably not. The Peach Mousse cake did save this review from being two stars, however. Drinks were not ordered, so maybe that'll be the goal for the next visit. read more

One is on downtown Granville street and another is located right outside Metropolis at Metrotown. Mr. Mustache Tea and Dessert is a decent size for small to medium sized groups. People can drink their bubble tea, eating the desserts, and staying there doing their homework/studying or hanging out with friends. My friend and I have ordered the Bee Cheese Cake to share and each of us also had our own bubble tea. I had my regular drink honey green tea. The cheesecake designs very unique and cute. This place is at the back corner of a building facing Kingsway, a little hard to find. I like that they make bubble tea with real milk than cream powder. The bubbles are so chewy yet soft. I wanted to love this place because I had heard really great things but for a first time visitor I give this place a 3.5* I got my usual milk tea half sweet with pearls. The milk tea was decent. Very frothy and reminded me a lot like TTOB's, just less sweet with no cute marshmallows on top. The pearls were really good! I would not get this drink again, but instead try one of their other creations. My friend got her absolute favourite, the peach oolong macchiato. I can see why people would like this style of drink given the unique salty and sweet balance the cheese topping provides. The cup it was served in was also super cute and appeared to be re usable. I also picked my fiancé a lychee green tea up and he was really happy with how it came out. Their desserts looked adorable in the window and it is worth knowing that they are rotated so possibly call ahead if there is a specific treat you are looking for. But it does not feel as though the Burnaby location uses the same recipes as the Vancouver location (which makes some of the best bubble tea I've ever had!). We got an earl grey milk tea and regular green milk tea. Both tasted very watered down, not at all creamy, sweet, or flavoured. The earl grey mousse tasted much better than the drink, but melted on the way home. The chocolate bun with raspberry filling was decent as well. Other desserts looked cute too!
