We tried a slice of the gluten free pizza, it was the best gluten free pizza I've had. Crisp on the bottom, not floppy but it wasn't super hard or dry either. The crust was actually delicious and overall just really good. I would imagine their non gluten free pizza is really good if the gluten free is that good. The grocery store itself is also great. I cut the cake in wedges from the box and served it flat on a white plate. I remember looking at the plates and did not see it. I did not expect the plastic. I suspect that it was wedged on the side of the cake and it got pushed in. It went unnoticed because if you see the picture it's pretty noticeable, it's an 1.5" piece of paper with plastic tape but if it's in the cake I'm not going to see it. They offered a refund and they can have it. I am dissatisfied with this place and their lack of professionalism. I was an upset mom and they treated me like I was culpable of serving plastics to little kids. To the manager who called me a liar that there was no ingredients on the paper, read it for yourself. It had the distinct texture of a pre-packaged Sysco-style product, or perhaps it was a cold portion reheated on a flat top without being properly rehydrated, leaving it dry and chewy. I understand that protein carries a high food cost, especially in the current market. However, a more effective approach might be to balance the menu engineering by leaning on lower food cost items, like seasonal sides or creative vegetarian options, to offset the expense of sourcing and correctly preparing higher-end brisket. This would allow for a better product that justifies its price point, covers its own cost, and ultimately helps the company's bottom line while maintaining the quality standards this town deserves. They make the best homemade salsa and soup in the surrounding area!! It's worth the drive and not too far out of the way. Forewarning, the salsa is on the sweeter side, per se, and I usually get 'medium' but they also have 'hot'. I've never had anything like it, it's sooo good. They have just about anything you'd want from a farmers market and my pictures don't really do it justice. And guess what, they're open 6 days a week!! The owner still makes her mouth-watering assortment of soups, but now-a-days instead of having them steaming hot in crock pots for patrons to scoop their desired amount, they are prepackaged and frozen for all to enjoy when it suits them. She says they are even more popular than before. It looks like the same modest place as before, very inviting, and well stocked. I'm thankful we have places like this around!
