Wow!!! Normally I don't give reviews but thought this was a worthwhile cause. I recently relocated…read morefrom Phoenix , AZ and needed a primary doctor. I went to the Carefirst website and found GW immediate and primary care as best value and having great reviews. It was simple to schedule the appointment in zocdoc and to arrive to the clinic. The receptionist was very nice and I waited less than 15 minutes. The service was excellent. Fernando the medical assistant speaks Spanish , a plus for me . The doctor explained and answers my concerns in an easy to understand manner, familiarized with my medical history quickly and even gave me the immunizations that I was missing. They drew blood for my baseline test and got me set with all my prescriptions by sending them to my local pharmacy. I used to pay for a pseudo-concierge service in Phoenix but this was free ( only paid my plan co-pay ). When my visit finished I receive an email inviting me to download and app which had all my relevant medical records. My service was worth five starts. I read previous reviews and was shocked with some as they don't relate at all to my experience or my family's. I was told they went thru a re-structuring and got a new administration and staff which could explain previous reviews. For me , I'm a customer for life ! R. Portela

I've been going to this place for primary care for several years, and had many great experiences…read morewith them pre-covid. Even last year I had a delightful experience getting a physical with a medical practitioner who has since moved on. In retrospect, I can imagine why she might have left. The service has declined severely. I learned this when I tried to get care for a nasty cold within the past month. Ever hear of a place with "Immediate and Primary Care" in their business name that doesn't accept walk-in patients? Now you have. As an added bonus, they don't accept same-day appointments either. On top of these changes, they now require you to choose a PCP...even if your insurance doesn't require it. I was told that last requirement was GW policy -- you be the judge. What's left is a general practitioner's office with longer hours and shorter-tenured practitioners. I suppose this fills a niche, but not nearly as flexibly as an actual immediate and primary care clinic does. Unfortunately, it's hard to fill any care clinic demand in 2024 if the administrative side fails as well. Even if you have a MyChart GW online patient account, you cannot book appointments with them through your account unless you select "New Patient". There is no option to book online as an existing patient. I spent 38 minutes on hold with their phone system before giving up and walking to the office. Taped to the door is a printed sign saying 'NO WALK INS! NO SAME-DAY APPTS! The same sign is printed at the reception desk just in case you missed the message on the outer door. An indifferent (at best) front desk staffer told me she could only find records for me dating to last year, even though I've been a patient there for at least 10 years (and through at least one change in affiliation). Puzzled by these changes, I nonetheless booked a next-day appointment with them. But I had been sick for days: I didn't want to wait. So I found another clinic nearby, where I received the actual immediate care I was looking for. I immediately tried to cancel my appointment with GW 'Immediate' Care, which showed up in my online patient portal. You won't believe this, but *you cannot cancel appointments through the patient portal*. Ye gods! This would be okay if they ever answered the phone. I called to cancel anyway...and of course there was no answer. I left a message that day, then left a second message the following morning. There was no response or update -- all while I continued to receive appointment reminders I no longer needed. It honestly seems as if this place isn't even trying to attract or retain patients anymore. If you want actual immediate care, they tell patients to seek it elsewhere. They don't allow you to make existing patient appointments online (though this might be some kind of glitch). The front desk staff seems apathetic. And since they no longer answer the phone, there's is no reliable way to get common needs met. I hope I can get my medical records by requesting them in-person because I don't plan on seeking care there again.

I called for an appointment for a lab test and was given an appointment for 10:30 that morning. I…read moreshowed up on time, there was hardly anyone in the waiting room but still I waited until 11am to be taken back to a room. The nurse took my vitals and then told me to give a urine sample; I had to tell her that this was not a urine test. Then at 11:15, 45 minutes after my appointment and 2 hours after I called to make the appointment, they told me all their test kits that I needed were expired and that I should go to the other Medics USA. They claimed they would call that location to let them know I was coming, but as far as I could tell that did no good, as I still waited over 90 minutes at the second location (where service was even worse, will write a separate review).

I really cannot stand this doctors office but the only reason I've continued to come back is…read morebecause it's right down the street from my house and I haven't yet found a new primary. I can count on every time I come in getting seen at least 45 minutes after my appointment time despite the place never appearing busy. The male nurse does not know how to take blood properly and not only hit a nerve causing my whole arm to become sore (which never happens if taken properly), but I became extremely sick and light headed because of that and because it was so hot in the office. After I was left with a huge bruise on my arm. The male doctor (I'm bad with names) is one of those doctors that start by naming all the most serious conditions that could possibly be related to your issue first to freak you out and then ends with "or it could be a lab error or fluke". Says you need to come back so he can run a full battery of tests, but then when you do he claims the issue is actually not remotely related to what he originally freaked you out about in the first place. In my case it went from you could possibly have Hepititus C to "Oh it's because you're drinking too much vegan protein powder", but let's take more blood to confirm. All in all I wouldn't recommend this place unless you are in dire need or have no other options.

**** Update**** I have decided to update this review after…read morethe manager reach out to me to clear up the situation. As I mentioned in my original review it was truly a shocking moment to me that I refused to believe had happened considering how long I have been a patient of NWNP. Northwest Nurse Practitioner Associates to me represented everything that a family practice should embody and that is now missing in the health care system : empathy, compassion, knowledge, detailed-oriented, patience, confidence, trust, passion. I found all of the above qualities visiting Erin every years for the past 7 years and that last encounter (over the phone) with the manager was the complete opposite of what I was accustomed to hence my disbelief. I have the utmost respect for her and what she has built over the years and my decision to update my review is solely based on those 7 years. I do not believe that one incident should erase the consistent positive interactions and great care I have received from NWNP over the years. I want to believe that there was a miscommunication between me and the manager and it was not his intend to make me feel unheard. I appreciate him taking the time to reach out and write an apology email.

I was a patient of Erin's practice for several years sold on the idea of nurse practitioners…read morespending more time listening and open to alternative treatments. And that was true during that time. But something changed significantly as she transitioned to a sort of direct primary care practice and functional medicine practice. The practice seemed more impersonal. For example she tried to direct me away from monitoring my liver scores when I started taking statins. Although she had previously had the position that medications always have risks in promoting alternative medicine considerations and I had told her of my brother's death from non alcoholic cirrhosis due unmonitored prescription of cholesterol medication she tried to talk me out of the monitoring. At one point I had told her I didn't want to die from cirrhosis her reply was that there were worse ways to die.
