She convinced me to hire them for the job by promising a low flat rate and quick shipping. She assured me they had boats leaving every week. They picked up my motorcycle in LA on may 17th 2017 and the nightmare began. Impossible to get anyone on the phone or get a reply via email. Two weeks later, Katherine finally replies with a quick one liner explaining that they are just waiting for one last title for the container to be shipped. 42 days after pick up, my motorcycle still hadn't been shipped. ( ie: photo 1) 96 days after pick up, on 8/21 I get a call from Katherine telling me they won't be able to ship to Le Havre in France. She offers to have it shipped to the Netherlands. I'm not sure why she thought I'd be interested in sending my motorcycle to a different country. I assumed she could feel my frustration and decided to make up for their poor services. So she told me she would make a deal with the receiving company in the Netherlands to have them take care of customs clearance, handling and transport to France and fit all of this within the original agreed budget. I explained my concern about Taxes. When moving to France, I was eligible for a tax franchise on importing personal goods for 1 year. She assured me that it wouldn't be an issue since the Netherlands were also part of the EU. Since it wasn't going to cost a penny over the original quoted price and would expedite delivery, I agreed to her terms. Then, no news again... No replies... Nobody answering the phone... 131 days after pick up, on 9/25 I receive an email from the receiving company in the Netherlands telling me that my motorcycle is due to arrive in a few days followed by another email from AbleCargo with an invoice for pickup and freight. Nobody bothered to notify me when the cargo had shipped. No heads up. No time for me to make arrangements. I called the receiving company to figure things out. To my surprise, AbleCargo hadn't mentioned anything about what to do with my bike or about a deal for transport etc. I then found out that the tax franchise could not be applied outside of France. I had two options left: pay taxes there and lose the ability to register the vehicle in France, or pay for transit and extra costs for customs officer to clear it on french territory. All the while AbleCargo and their employees refused to pick up my calls or reply to emails. Anytime I'd call from a number they didn't already have on file, they would pick up instantly. But after they'd find out what the call was about, they would systematically put me on hold then hang up. Then that number would be added to their "do not reply list". The only contact I'd get from them was a "friendly reminder" email with invoice attached. They essentially held my motorcycle hostage at customs knowing that unless I payed them, I would be unable to claim it. At this point the clock was ticking. To avoid additional storage costs, my only choice was to pay the full amount for their scam. I ended up spending double the original price and I'm left with a damaged vehicle that I can't register in France. Needles to say, if I could give the 0 stars I would. The best I can hope for is that this review gets seen by as many potential costumers (or victims) as possible. Able Cargo is not a shipping or freight company! Just a dishonest sales team / brokers with a warehouse trying to make a buck by screwing people over. The other shipping companies I have spoken to since, said they won't do business with them anymore because of all the hassle and complaints they receive.
