Long story short: sushi was ok, service was just odd, and frankly sub par. Long story - Came here with the folks for the first time in a few years. We were seated and given menus, offered, drinks, etc. Then the hostess left for a long time. Eventually, she came back and asked if we wanted appetizers, which we ordered - and then she immediately left, before taking the rest of our order. Not sure what happened, so we waited... and waited... and waited. Eventually, one of us walked up to the counter to make our order. (Now, if we are supposed to order at the counter, fine. We didn't know, and I still don't know. But the fact that she came and waited on us for appetizers led us to believe we ordered from the table. Still confused at what happened there.) After a LONG wait, the food finally arrived, but not all at once. Each entree was brought out with 5 minute intervals. The food was OK, not bad, but not exactly worth the weird service. We eventually had to walk up to the counter to pay. Again, might be the norm at this place, but we had no prompts or anything. If the place was busy, I would be more understanding. But we were one group of 3 other groups in the entire restaurant, so it's not like we were lost in the crowd. read more

Paleo style in a sushi restaurant? Yes it is possible. I just ordered their beef yakiniku with veggies and no rice. It was delicious and fast. Quick service in the Salmon Creek area. My kids love their food too. Also, plenty of great dishes for non sushi eaters. read more

Mio Sushi was alright, but we came here for my birthday and had a fun time together as a family. There were some assorted rolls and sushi, and I had a couple of beers. It wasn't the best sushi that I've had, but I enjoyed the meal. At some point, I felt the wasabi was somewhat overly textured, but it was hard to compare it to anything else. I wish I'd taken more pictures. Regardless, I enjoyed spending the evening out to dinner for my birthday and we'll probably visit the restaurant again. read more

First of all the sushi is good quality. That said the only thing keeping this from being a five star review is the service. They are clearly overstaffed in the kitchen and under staffed when it comes to waiters/waitresses. It is not uncommon to see the sushi chefs leaning with nothing to do while hungry diners go unserved or worse, unseated. On more than one occasion we have had to remind our waitress that we had more food coming but no surprise the order never made it into the computer. No apologies were made and no discounts were applied to the bill. This is the only quality sushi on this side of town. To the owners of Mio Sushi, I implore you. PLEASE fix your service problems! PLEASE! Edited on 7/13/12 to add that we went again this week and service appears to have improved. I get the idea they may be working on some of their staffing issues. We will try it again soon and if it wasn't just a fluke I will be changing my star rating. read more

Just went again for another round and I'm happy to say it was just as good as the first visit, but service was faster and smoother this time earning them the coveted fifth star. My wife and I absolutely love this restaurant. We probably go about twice a month. We usually go to the salmon creek location but we also go to the camas location frequently. Really great service and incredible food. The price is great too especially during happy hour. My wife and I usually get the super eel, sunset, and mt hood every time. I just went here over the weekend with my aunts, uncle, sister, and baby cousin. We ordered the ramen, gyoza (pork), Alaskan roll, double crunch, salmon skin roll, mio roll, and the california roll. The ramen was okay and the gyoza wasn't bad either. However, the sushi was delicious! I've been to the Mio Sushi on Hawthorne and it tasted the same. It was just as yummy here in Vancouver. I would definitely come back. We ordered to go but wasn't given the right rolls. Otherwise, everything was good. read more

The owner of the restaurant is so gracious and polite and happy and does everything to make her customers comfortable. The wait staff is quick friendly and very helpful and knows the product well and recommends food. They are very clean and have a great atmosphere. They are a little bit more spendy then your usual Sushi place but it is so worth it. They have a great variety of food to choose from it is all good. My personal favorites are the spider roll and the beef mio ramen. read more

I really like these guys. Have been here multiple times. The individual ordered sushi is really well done and has been good quality. The sushi on the value meals has been value meal sushi. But, the price is good on the value meals and non-sushi part is great. Overall, can't really complain. When I want good sushi, here it is. I'll start off by saying I have high Sushi standards. I usually go to Portland to have sushi there where I have a few choice places I like to go, but Mio opened up here in Vancouver recently and I thought I'd try it out. If i can save the drive and have the same experience then that works out awesome. When I walked in I was greeted but multiple staff members which was very nice. The restaurant was fairly empty but it was also about 730. I was seated with the rest of my party outside since it was a nice day. Hiedi was our server and did a very good job. I will say, Mio has a very good selection. 2 pages of sushi; roll, nigiri, sashimi... the works. We ordered a good selection of roll and nigiri. The food came out very quickly. The nigiri was the best part of our order. The fish portions are quite big which is good, however the quality of the fish was less the amazing. The hamachi in particular, had black veining and the sushi chef did not remove the bloodline. While not unsafe it is just unappetizing, the veining just denotes the quality of the meat and the bloodline gives the meat a very "fishy" flavor. The other nigiri wasn't bad, it just didn't wow me. the maguro (tuna) was a little bland, the unagi (eel) was passable but not to our taste. The roll sushi was in a similar state. The rice was a little tough. The rolls were not very tight and the pieces of vegetables were cut very thick which lent the rolls to fall apart. My biggest complaint was the spicy tuna roll. Now, this is totally just personal preference. I expect my tuna to be in full pieces not minced into oblivion. The spicy sauce which most places use is a combination of mayo and sriracha. Mio's spicy tuna was both. Now I've been to many places where that is exactly what you get from your spicy tuna roll which is why I have a hard time poo-pooing Mio's interpretation of the spicy tuna roll. Although it wasn't spicy and the tuna was a little bland. All in all Mio Sushi felt like a conveyor belt sushi place with a personal touch. The service was good and the people were friendly but the food was sub-par. I'm not sure whether to give Mio a 2 or 3 star experience. No one goes to a restaurant for nice waitresses if the food isn't good. 3 out of 5. Not terrible but not to my liking. read more

Excellent restaurant. I've come twice and been very pleased both times. I have not had their sushi yet, so I can't actually comment on that; however, my friends and I have had the Udon, Ramen, Miso, and two different Bento. Their soup/noodle dishes have very rich, flavorful broths, and the noodle dishes had plenty of vegetables and garnish. I didn't try the bento, but both my friends who had it were very pleased. One, who is picky about her fish, said the Salmon was exceptional. Neither visit was I able to finish all the food brought out, but they have take-home containers. So, the food was delicious, and the service was timely and polite. They are accommodating for vegan and gluten free options and always bend over backward to answer any questions about dietary restrictions. I (we) have been enjoying this place for sometime now. Always been pretty decent sushi and service....until last night. Six adults 2 kids. Place wasn't that busy. Stood in the doorway for a bit until finally the blond waitress came and told us we would have to wait until the people at the larger table leave. To our left was plenty of tables that could have been put together. So after 15 min of just standing there finally we were seated and given menus and that is where we were left for another 15 min. No water no "I'll be right with you" no nothing. She ( the blond who seated us) walked by several times without a nod in our direction. Finally we stood up and left. The guys making the sushi just looked at us and no one said anything. Mio, there is a Ton of competition out there. I will find a new place. read more
