Stopped in for lunch around 11:30 on a Tuesday. Not busy, only one person seated in dining room. Dining room is small, but decent size for strip mall location. Young man at counter was friendly and helpful when picking menu items. He suggested the Bibimbap and my husband really enjoyed it. He really liked the flavor of the sauce. I ordered the chicken breast bowl. The chicken had a smoky flavor. Really enjoyed their teriyaki sauce too...not too sweet. I like their salad dressing as well. They also serve egg flower soup to those customers dining in. My only complaint is it took about 25-30 to get our food. During that time, numerous people came in for to-go orders. Seemed like the to-go orders took priority over customers dining in. I heard one customer verbalize how surprised they were that their order was already ready when they were told it would be ready for pick-up in 10 minutes. We had been waiting 20 minutes at our table at that point. Food should really be served in order of orders received...first come, first serve. For that reason we will not be dining in there again. This place is quick and affordable! They have a much larger menu selection than just the standard teriyaki/yakisoba. While I haven't tried too much else they have "hot & spicy" they have pad Thai and other varieties as well. They have a good selection of appetizers which I like! They offer crab puffs and gyoza, spring rolls and much more. I also like that the teriyaki has fish and tofu options instead of just chicken and beef. I have tried the salmon teriyaki which was great and the shrimp wasn't too bad either. They have a bowl option for when you don't want a whole plate. It doesn't come with a salad but there are veggies mixed in. They are so quick as well if you place a take out order it is ready in 10-15 minutes. All bagged up and ready for payment. There take out containers are also vented to prevent condensation which is nice. The ambiance is lacking, but as I eat takeout that never been an issue. Just ordered from here through Uber eats. Uber Eats makes it nearly impossible to review/rate them, so here we are at the restaurant. I don't feel horrible about that because we ordered very simple meals. Two chicken teriyaki plates (thigh because breast is almost $3more plus we prefer thigh) one was a one level spicy and the other a 3, plus an extra order of chicken. However, I ordered the salmon teriyaki plate (which was 18.99 holy shit!!), really wish I had just gotten tofu. But the salmon had to be some of the driest salmon i've ever had in my life. There's nothing special about it except an annoying upcharge for making dishes somewhat spicier. My wife and I have eaten in and gotten food to go for home. It's definitely not a place to go out of your way to try, but if you are wanting food similar to Japanese and Chinese favorites, Ichi 16 is a safe choice. The Beef Teriyaki, Chicken Katsu, Beef Yakisoba, and Spicy Kung Pao Chicken have all been a-ok stomach stuffers. Some people get far too hung up on "authenticity." If a place markets itself as "authentic" then it's fair game to take them to task for their inauthentic dishes. Originally from the NW but having resided outside the region for the past 15 years, I've had this style of teriyaki a few times since it really burst onto the scene in the mid 90s. Most of these joints aren't operated by Japanese - Chinese and Koreans seem to be the ones benefiting from our desire to eat teriyaki. Who cares. Of the aforementioned 15 years outside of the NW, nearly a decade of those years were spent in Japan. Believe it or not, teriyaki isn't such a big thing in Japan. Everyone knows it, kids like it, but it's simply a dish that kids eat once in a blue moon. Anyway, as for Ichi... Ichi gives you some really tasty food, a lot of it, at a very reasonable price. I paid around $10 and got 3 different meats, a salad, and gyoza. The chicken, beef, and pork are all cut into slivers or thin chunks, and cooked over a flame which gives these wonderful char bits. The meats are layered with that sweet and slightly umami soy sauce glaze that attracts the flame and leaves those charred bit and pieces I mentioned. The gyoza appears to be deep fried, probably for expediency. They were a bit tough but still tasty. The simple salad was just ok. The shop itself was medium-sized, a bit dark, but offering outdoor seating, too. They offer canned as well as fountain drinks. I noticed there are more than a couple of these Ichi places so hopefully they'll provide a similar product. I would not hesitate to return to Ichi - the food was tasty, the service decent, and the price reasonable. read more

The draw for me initially was the 4-star rating for a small Japanese place in a strip mall that seems to have very little traffic aside from the restaurant itself. I figured if it was good enough for many to go off the beaten path, it must be exceptional. I wish I could say it was, but to me, it's pretty average. The portions are large and the lunch prices are cheap...under $7.00. And, they offer free egg drop soup if you are eating in. If you are in a hurry, call ahead with your order because there's usually only one person taking the orders, serving the food and bussing tables. Each lunch plate has two scoops of white rice, a large side of iceberg lettuce salad with two dressings to choose from and your choice of about 6 mains. (There's also a full menu of chicken, pork, beef, soup or noodle choices, so to be fair, my review is only based on the daily lunch offerings.) The spicy chicken is similar to a Japanese version of fajitas --- thin strips of chicken thigh meat with peppers and onions in a spicy sauce...the best dish of the three I've ordered. The Kung Pao chicken is also thigh meat with baby corn, a ton of celery and water chestnuts, mushrooms, peppers, onions, and peanuts (not spicy at all). The meat tends to have a lot of fat and chewy bits...not my favorite. The orange chicken is fried in a thick batter and is covered in a sauce that resembles sweet and sour (rather than orange) and the meat is a bit too chewy for me. read more

The woman working the front and taking orders was one of the rudest people I have ever experienced working in a restaurant and she gets a negative 24. For frame of reference - I have been a bartender for over 20 years so I know how hard food service industry work is. There was no disagreement or problem just an overwhelming rude and annoyed attitude on her part while taking my order, while accepting my payment once I got there and again when giving me my order once ready. Her irritation at being there was so palpable that it was uncomfortable to sit and wait for my food order to be finished. I am only leaving this review in hopes that the business owners/management see this and make adjustments to who is interacting with their customers on the phone and in person.
