We bought a cake for my daughter's birthday. That cream frosting was sour and the fruit top was so spoiled it tasted like wine.

I have always been a fan of delicious. To find as good as homemade cake, pastries and confections along side substantial brunch items is a bonus!. I actually find any excuse to meet up at Mirabelle Cafe, especially when someone is joining me who has never experienced their excellence. I gathered a group of about 10 for my Grandma's Birthday one year... We all enjoyed a delicious breakfast made to order and I picked out quite a few mini desserts and everyone enjoyed tasting all the fun! It was a perfect way to decorate the table too! At the end, Gramma decided wich one she liked best and ~Mirabelle~ sent her home with one and a beautifully hand written "Happy Birthday" message on a chocolate canvas. This was not my first visit to Mirabelle but it is the first time in a long time. I heard that the place was under new ownership and decided to give it another shot. My past experience was just middle of the road, great deserts but horrible service. I was EXTREMELY pleased with the changes that have been made. The food was great and the service amazing! Decided to join my mom and grandmother here for breakfast on Sunday morning. Ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict , Pancakes, Mirabelle omelette and coffees. Placed order through DoorDash, order was confirmed, I was charged. I then get a call from the DoorDash driver saying that he went to pick up the order and Mirabelle said they don't do business with DoorDash. (This was almost 30 mins after placing the order with no communication regarding the issue. I called mirabelle and an older sounding man answered. I asked him what happened and he started arguing and yelling at me saying that they don't do DoorDash...well then how was I able to order and why did you confirm the order and take my money? Even though restaurant is on a noisy street, landscaping and bench/table gliders in seating area make being outside enjoyable. Finally the owner? came in and I expressed I had been waiting but he didn't seem concerned at all. No mask by the way! I asked for a latte. They couldn't make one. The machine is broken. Guess what, the machine was broken a year ago and he starts hollering at me about how much it costs to fix. I have frequented Mirabelle a few time. WORSE SERVICE EVER. It's clearly a front. Either money laundering or another sketchy situation. Either way being an actual cafe is very obviously not the main point of this establishment. Always empty. Like always empty. Except for after business hours when they play really terrible music (it's giving secondhand embarrassing honestly) ridiculously loud for hours and hours. So incredibly disappointed with our wedding cake. It was delivered at 2:30pm, eaten around 8pm, and it was frozen solid! We never asked for it to be frozen and were shocked when we couldn't even cut into it; it was rock hard. People were saying the whole afternoon that the cake was "sweating" and we had no idea what they meant, until we realized it had been frozen. When we tried to contact the bakery the following day we received no reply. When we called again a week later, we received no apology, only anger and comments like, "you never let us know you were upset." First of all, we did, and secondly, that's not the point. The point is none of our guests could even taste our frozen wedding cake. And to be quite honest, I wasn't trying to get my money back, I was trying to let them know so that another bride wouldn't have to deal with this in the future. We were SO happy to be using a family owned local business and I'm so upset that this happened, but more so, the reaction I received when I told them. Mirabelle used to be one of my favorite place for brunch but after today's experience I don't know. It took them too long to serve the food. We asked coffee re-fill 3 x before somebody came and re-filled our cups. The pancakes are as hard as a cardboard. The cinnamon French toast does not have any hint of cinnamon and just like the pan cake I have to tear it since I cant cut it with the knife. It seems like those items were pre-made and were in the warmer for quite sometime. All in all not happy with food and service. I don't know if I'll ever go back. read more

Overall a good experience but started poorly. When we arrived, found out we could seat ourselves and we chose to sit indoors. As we waited for a wait person, we heard the young female waitress tell the other waiter "no, I can't help you, I have people waiting". Not sure if we were part of that or not, but we were the only ones inside. The female waitress finally asked for some help and we were fortunate enough to get David who was amazing. He was attentive, pleasant, didn't make excuses and kept us abreast of the delay in the kitchen. On the menu it said that I would have a side of either fries or fruit salad along with maple syrup, I did not receive a side and nor did they give me the maple syrup which I had to ask for again...I did not receive it. I used to LOVE this place but over the past 6 months or so I have not enjoyed this restaurant quite as much as I used to; the quality of service has declined & many items I loved are no longer on the menu. I have had experiences of the waiters/waitresses/management being unwilling to accomodate my friends & I when we've called to give them advanced notice of a large group so they could be prepared. Management was unwilling to save tables so we could sit together & when we arrived we had to sit apart from each other. When we arrived, the staff was very flustered about the amount of people (which is exactly why I called ahead of time). Also, I have gone there since with a couple friends. We had no idea they discontinued dinner & the manager replied with "Uh...we don't do dinner." Me: "Okay. I wasn't aware you didn't serve dinner, anymore." Manager: "We haven't for MONTHS!" Is that the kind of response I deserve? Also, they were out of coffee & were flustered because they were trying to close up. They forgot to ring us up & gave us a guilt trip about making coffee for us so I cancelled the order & the owner (I'm guessing he is the owner) insisted it was not a problem & served us. Lastly, I went there very recently with a friend who came into town; when we arrived we let the waitress know we were there & where we would be sitting [outside]. I'm pretty sure she was the only waitress there & it took her 15 minutes for us to order coffee & it took another 15 minutes just to get our coffee. We saw her walk outside to take orders or being food & made a deal that if she didn't bring our coffee then we would just go elsewhere for breakfast...and, of course, she came out with our coffee next. Haha There have been a couple times where they compensate for the lack in customer service, but I don't want to be treated like I'm an inconvenience or talked to like I'm less than. All of the free pastries in the world won't make up for it. I hope for the best for this place & will give it another chance in a few months. Been here off and on for the past few years. It's always been a crap shoot; however it's been decent the past few times so we thought it'd be fine for a birthday lunch. So, slow slow slow as usual, we were the only people there for the first 30 minutes. The food was terrible. The salad was warm, the hamburgers were overcooked, no spice, served on a dry bun. The cheese tasted moldy. My friends benedict was vinegary and not good at all. Even the cake was dry and tastless. The service was good, the server filled our drinks, was very nice. We had great service from her, she is wasted in this place. She's new, the other server didn't seem to be doing anything. To top it off, almost 2 hours of "dining" and we return home (we're across the street), I got sick from our meal, which was the only I've eaten in 16 hours. Needless to say, we will never be back. Well, CRAP. I picked this spot for a family brunch, and left feeling let down. The good: The coffee was very good, and we were never left in wanting of refills. The staff was incredibly friendly! And while we never actually TASTED the desserts, the cakes (large and single sized) looked great and/or delicious. So this review is based on brunch alone... The bad: It took WAY too long to take our order. We had to sit there for quite a while until someone finally came over to get our food order. When it finally arrived, it was less than impressive. I got the crab omelet. But the tarragon was so heavy that I could barely taste the crab, and the avocado that topped it wasn't quite ripe, so it was not nearly as enjoyable as the $12 price tag would indicate. My mom's crepe (which included 3 items of her choice) lacked one. She chose eggs, bacon, and avodaco....but arrived without avocado. Since we had to wait so long to order and get our food, she said nothing to the servers. Also, it was dry and in need of some type of sauce. My husband and dad didn't fare much better with their dry omelets. Also, we were left with plates that had confusing components: my crab omelet and fruit arrived with toast, jelly, and ketchup. My husband's omelet, potatoes, and toast had butter and ketchup only. We had to trade his butter for my jelly to make a complete meal...and where my ketchup came into play I'm not sure! The female staff and male (whom I assume was the cook or manager) were very nice. But we left not satisfied with our brunch and felt we had paid far too much. It's a charming spot with beautiful desserts...maybe we'll return for bakery needs, but not for a meal! read more

I don't like to downgrade, even if it is just a star, but after visiting here a few times lately, I feel it is important to update my review. Firstly, the quality of the coffee here has really deteriorated! It started a few months ago when it got really weak. American coffee is generally thought to be weak as it is, but this is like drinking hot brown water. I asked if they had started making their coffee differently but apparently nothing had changed. Secondly, while the service here has always been spotty, unless my favorite waiter is here, it's always brusque. As my husband put it, "if we weren't in the US, it would be acceptable." I always see the US as providing the best customer service I ever experience. The last straw for me was yesterday when having ordered coffee and cake, brought both to my table, I wanted to get a refill on my coffee (which never happens to me). The tables around me were getting refills and I shouted to the waitress "Excuse me! Excuse me!" (always more polite than yelling out "HEY!!!") two of the tables looked at me, and then at her while she walked away. Argh! I didn't leave a tip. I think the girls there know that I don't leave tips when I get bad service or if I have to keep walking up to the counter to get a refill while others get theirs at the table, which creates a vicious circle: the service is bad because I don't tip and I don't tip because I get bad service. Their cakes are okay - we had the red velvet yesterday and I found the cake part to be mushy. I would have left if in the oven a bit longer. However I must say that when I have tried their cakes at other times, they are pretty good. If you are after Italian pastries and cakes I HIGHLY recommend La Dianda less than two miles from here in Fair Oaks Village. Well, let's put it this way. considering the latest developments (and the fact I'm getting irritated as I write this), I will probably switch for a while. read more

This place was such a disappointment... I was so edger to go and try this place out base on the reviews and the pictures that was posted on Yelp. Most of all.... I wanted to try out some MACAROONS. This place is indee super busy on the wknds and during brunch/lunch time. I don't know if I'm being biased but I did felt that because of my skin color/my ethnicity I was not being waited on like every other white folks in the restaurant. I don't know what to say about Macaroons anymore since it was my first time eating/tasting them and it was a dissapointment... I guess I'll try Ginger in downtown next... then I'll give my final answer on how good macaroon are. I stood there patiently waiting for someone to help me. I felt as if I was being over looked... it felt forever. Since it was brunch and because of all these yummy pictures on Yelp. I wanted to eat there as well. I asked the girl who helped me with my macaroon order if I was to seat myself... she said yes. She was nice enough to have someone bring me a menu. There's not much on the lunch menu... very simple. I order the angus burger with fries. I wanted it done medium well. The burger was DELIOUS. The fries was delious. So the food was good... no complaint there. The service was a big disappointment... I waited there patiently for someone to come refill my glass of water and no one came. Even though they walked by my table and they helped other customers... no one bother to refill my glass with water. Serveral times I tried to get someone attn... it failed because they're all so busy running around or I just didn't tried hard enough but did I really had to go to that extent. Since no one came to see how I was doing... I simply got up and walk to the register to pay for my meal... again I stood there and waited forever... I'm a nice person who always gives tips... but this time I felt like no one deserve anything tips from me because I didn't get the service I want... So I only left them with $2. Came here for a solo Saturday morning brunch Food was yummy! Seating outside was nice :) only rating down a little because didn't have anyone give me a menu, no biggie went and grabbed one- order got done eventually. But then after being done I waited ~ 15 minutes until I finally was able to flag someone down to ask for a check and she said it was my server who would need to do it (totally understandable, but a little offsetting). Eventually I got the check as well, but it was awhile again until they came to get it with the card and then to bring it back. I even checked to see if I should go pay up front to make it easier but they assured me that they would come to me. To be honest the interaction was so minimal I wasn't even certain which server was assigned to my table/section. Servers were generally pretty sweet and I've been both a server and barista so I know it's easy to forget things here and there but with the number of waitresses and how mellow the place was it was frustrating to have no check ins really & to be forgotten about for quite awhile. We ordered our drinks, waters and coffee. I got a Cafe Latte, good but just a little too much foam for my taste personally. For food, I ordered a Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict and a side of breakfast potatoes. The food took a little while to get to us, just as I was about to wonder how long it would take, our meals were brought out. The salmon was alright, and along with the poached eggs and English muffin, underseasoned in my opinion. There wasn't a whole lot of flavor going on, but it was good nonetheless. The hollandaise sauce was made well, though I feel it could have used a bit of lemon, especially with the salmon. The potatoes were seasoned well, however the portion was smaller than expected and I was left wanting more. After breakfast I decided to pick up some sweets for myself and my roommates back home. I brought home with me macaroons, a croissant, and a slice of lemon mango cake. All were lovely and made to perfection. It makes me consider just picking up pastries and whatnot from the case instead of eating in at times, but every time I come back I am optimistic that my experience will be a better one. I will likely come back again (especially now that they have loyalty cards!) and try something else on the menu.
