We walked the entire strip of Indian shops in LA looking for our bridal wear, we even visited KYNAH in Santa Monica. Couldn't find anything! People were unhelpful. Finally we walked into SB, without an appointment- yet Anjana and Olivia welcomed us and answered all our questions. I requested customizations on our outfits, which Anjana and Olivia did their best to fulfill. Unfortunately, the many discrepancies with colors and measurements once the requests were sent back to India caused me great stress and inconveniences. The disappointment brought me to tears. No matter the errors or my complaint(s) Olivia and Anjana's respectful demeanor never wavered. They maintained professionalism and focused on being solution oriented. They went out of their way to make things right. In areas where SB lacked, these two ladies took accountability and helped the brand maintain it's elevated status. Had it not been for them, my wedding would have been ruined. If you're looking for beautiful, traditional Indian attire for a formal event. This store is a great option. I would only advise that you do not make any requests for customizations, give yourself ample time for alterations as the staff in India cannot seem to get it right. I think that SB put these lovely ladies in the line of fire by not having quality and competent tailors in India. They also cannot make creative suggestions or decisions without instruction. Do not request color changes, do not request to add sleeves, and do not expect a more sophisticated team in India simply because the prices are equivalent to Tom Ford. I trust Anjana and Olivia to make things right, I trust to do business with them. Again, they are beyond wonderful. I do not trust SB. I'm sorry. One of the biggest issues I had, was the bust, underarm and shoulder of my saree blouse. I measured myself, I was measured in store, yet the team in India botched my blouse 2x. For a measurement of 13.5"in the shoulder, they created a blouse with 11". They also made the busts (on each side) different. No one's boobs are the same. Doesn't mean you make the blouse lopsided. The cups used are antiquated, uncomfortable, impractical! The blouses are not made or cut / tailored to be flattering! I cannot understand it. SB/Anjana and Olivia helped me get my blouse altered so I would have it on my wedding day. I had to endure the embroidered fabric riding up my underarms, it was uncomfortable. They also use a net material for the sheer designs, not a modern blend of nylon for flexibility. I think it is very important to really pay attention to the inventory in the LA store before ordering anything. Do not dream up ideas and expectations. In conclusion, I looked beautiful on my day. It's really not easy finding a dress last minute. This store was super cool. The owner was there as well and very welcoming. We told them what our price range was and they immediately showed us some really cute stuff. They also carry some limited large sizes. The dresses we tried on we're about a size or two small but they had extra space inside the dress that the tailor was able to open the hems. They also have a tailor onsite. So they were nice enough to open up the hems to make sure we like the dress before we bought it. Because opening up the hems actually kind of alters the dress but they were willing to do it cause we didn't want to buy nothing without knowing how it would look on. So we ended up getting this beautiful Turquoise and peach Anarkali. They charge $30 to do the tailoring and it's ready within about 5 days. Now we're wedding ready! Here we come Jersey!!

To start off, Atirma is an Indian clothing/accessory store - and I am not Indian. I'm a mix of…read moreLatina & Hawaiian, however my husband is Punjabi. We were married 04/28/2012 and had an American ceremony in a church & an Indian themed reception. In September 2011 I started searching for a place to get a lengha for my wedding reception. Something that was really going to "awe" my guests as well as my husband's. I tried emailing websites that carried sarees & suits that I thought were really pretty, asking if they had lenghas or could custom design one based on a combo of some pictures I had found with design & looks and was either unsuccessful or didn't feel comfortable sending my money & requests off to India where there was no connection here in the states. On a whim, one day while passing by their Fremont store (in late November 2011), I decided to pop in and ask if they would be able to custom design something for me, and indeed they were able to! I worked with Maneka Sherwa, one of their designers from the Artesia store. She came up to the Fremont store in December and was able to meet with me. She was gorgeous herself and very sweet. SHe pulled out tons of swatches, color designs & different types of design work for me to go through. I showed her two pictures I printed off the internet which showed the shape of lengha I wanted (we call it mermaid, they call it fish tail) as well as some design work & top styles I liked. We went through a ton of "touch points", she took my measurements and I was very excited when I left. She worked within my budget, took the time to listen to everything I wanted and also made suggestions that would make my "in-laws" happier with my outfit to make it a little more traditional while still sticking to everything I wanted. In the middle of the process, I was a little nervous as the Fremont store closed their doors. Maneka kept in contact the entire time via email and text and reassured me things were going smoothly. About 6 weeks before the wedding, I got a "test" lengha from the production team in India to try on and "pin" to adjust anything that was too big (or too small - but I didn't have that issue). I pinned the lengha to make certain parts a little more form fitting and sent it back to the Artesia store who then adjusted my measurements for the tailors in India. 3 weeks before the wedding my lengha arrived and it was GORGEOUS. Beyond what I thought it was going to turn out to be. I had originally wanted a silver color that had a hint of purple tone - but the purple/pink color that Maneka suggested I change it to was PERFECT and I was so happy to have listened to her and agreed with that change during the design meeting. (White is used for funerals in Indian culture, so a color too light is almost looked down upon). The one "bad" thing (can I even call it that?) was that the skirt was slightly too big around the waist - however, I think it might have been a different story if it wasn't so decked out in crystals (the skirt alone weighed 23.5 lbs because of all the crystals & design work), I took it to an alterations place here and paid $35 to have her take in 2 inches to make sure the skirt fit tight and wouldn't fall and then it was perfect "to the T". I've attached a few pictures and honestly, in the future, look forward to working with them on some more indian outfits. The entire process with Atirma & Maneka went soooo smoothly.

When my outfits arrived from India from Officially Couture by Maneka the waist was a little big but the girls at the store were able to fix that in a day. :) Needless to say for a bride I was freaking out but all was resolved. SHE STILL HAS MY MONEY AND MY JEWERY. It's theft. It's unfair. I was a good customer and she failed to fix the set OR refund me. She did nothing to make it right.
