following a car accident, I was so well taken care of of all by all the staff at Mirage, the rehab department helped me walk again in just a matter of 2 months. all of the CNA's were incredible. They always came in with a smile on their face and asked me "how are you doing." I'm so truly grateful and appreciative for everyone who saved my life

The hardest place to review is a place you don't want to see your loved one in. We are here for cracked hip rehab and long term care. That being said, this is a good facility with great employees. Everyone has been very living and kind to mother in law who has dementia. She wakes and is very frightened but the staff tries to help her as much as possible.

A candid shot of Mom and one of her many great caregivers

My mother in law was moved in here from Ridgecrest General Hospital in January '24 (she was 93…read morethen...and she's now 94!) She was long term. We have no complaints about how she was treated. They worked to keep her in a bed by a window. They sent her to the hospital when they felt she needed it. (it's just down the street! She had a TVAR and a pacemaker put in which helped her so much with breathing) The PT/OT staff were able to. nudge her to do more than she thought she could. We paid to continue after Medical ended and glad we did. She was kept clean and well cared for. Recently she was diagnosed with Covid and isolated. She got depressed and stopped eating and taking her meds. My husband called every day and worked with the staff, and they helped him Face Time her to cheer her up. It's a busy facility being near the hospital and getting a lot of short term care clients. We hesitated moving her up near us because she was getting such good care and thriving. But once she started getting depressed, we knew we needed to move her up here (see Sunny View Care Center). On the day she was transported, staff came in to say goodbye to her. They really cared about my mother in law and her health and happiness. Hubby & I looked at a lot of care centers (skilled nursing facilities) up here in Silicon Valley. We saw quite a variety. One important thing is how well do they keep the facility. AVCC is clean and well maintained. Nitpicks - There were only restrooms in the front lobby area...and staff uses them as well. Once a visitor or resident was using one of them as her private phone booth which was frustrating. Mother in law liked the food at first but then she thought it was so much better than what she was getting in Ridgecrest. Eventually, she started grumbling that it was dog food. (She's feisty) All the food we saw her get was well made. But it's hospital food. There weren't any choices that I know of. One of her hearing aids disappeared. No one knows where or why, but the staff took ownership and are working with my husband to pay the replacement cost. Parking was reasonable that we found along the sides. Everyone we interacted with was polite and kind (just way overworked)

Gabby and her staff work very hard to help their clients heal up. I looked forward to seeing them twice a week during my time there. They did an absolutely fantastic job getting me where I need to be from my surgery. I highly recommend them.

The professionals that host this workshop have decades of experience with addiction. They understand the science of addiction and explain it in an understandable way to the participants at the workshop. They also talk about feelings and emotions regarding the addict and ourselves. When people first enter the workshop, they are usually overwhelmed, sad and angry about the addiction that their family member is dealing with. It doesn't take long before they start to feel empowered and like they have an idea of how to deal with the addiction. Also, there is an overwhelming feeling of support from the staff and the other families at the workshop. We all become very close and exchange phone numbers and contact information so that we can follow up with support after we leave. We all understand what the other family members are going through because we are dealing with the same things. The workshop is a safe place to talk about how we are feeling about our addicts and what experiences we have had. We talk about the fear, the anger, the sadness, and the feeling of being powerless over the addiction. We leave the workshop with the tools to move forward with our lives and coping skills to deal with the addiction. The workshop is a very powerful place to find information, support, understanding and tools. I wish every recovery program would offer the families a workshop like this. Addiction is a family problem. We all need these tools to help our addicted lives ones to recover, which is our common goal. But we also need to learn how to still live our lives while loving an addicted person. I feel so lucky to have found this program and will continue to attend the workshops as I deal with my addicted loved one.

I have learned so much in these short 44 days that will help me stay sober and on track probably for the rest of my life: I want to shout out each member of the staff because they all have amazing qualities and views that help you grow. First off Crystal who always checked and made sure you were ok. Carolina was hilarious and a great nurse who could answer any questions you had about treatment. Jeff who is a lovely human being and a great counselor. Liz gave great group sessions and was an amazing artist and even more amazing friend while I was here. Daniel helped me through part of my steps and someone who you can talk to for hours about any questions you have as you go through the program. Ted is an amazing chef and even better person who is a joy to be around! Brandon is one of the sweetest people and helped me so much during my detox. Also Bryan who is the best therapist and helped me with changing my perspective on drinking and finding the root of my alcoholism with steps and tools to work with. I am sincerely grateful for being able to come here, I don't think I would of been able to get back on my feet with a clear direction of where I'm heading without the love and support I have received here. A huge achievement and an emotional letdown. Please let me share…read more Today was my final meeting of my 18 month alcohol class. I DID IT! I finished the class that I should have completed 17 years ago. I'd hoped to share with the group how proud I was, and how good life is today. Unfortunately, the group got going on several downer topics, such as the atrocities happening in our jail system, how *all* sober living homes run by Armenians are a scam (gee, racist much?), and how the Democrats are extending the government shutdown because they want Healthcare for illegal immigrants. I lost it on that last one, and corrected the person, but felt like I was alone in my opinions. Another person who completed their class today got a warm hug from the teacher, but with me she barely made eye contact. I felt robbed of my celebratory moment. Screw them! *I* completed the class, I finished my responsibility, and if I'm the only Pagan and Democrat in the room then I sure won't miss anything. OVERALL, I rate The High Road well, but I recommend keeping your opinions to yourself when in class. No one likes feeling like the outcast.
