We came to this restaurant for dinner, not really knowing what to expect since we'd never had Persian food. We wanted to try several dishes so we ordered a few appetizers including the yogurt with cucumber dip (Persian version of tzatziki), kibbeh and the tahdig (or crispy/hard-bottom of the pot rice). The yogurt was delicious. The kibbeh was ok, kinda dry. The tahdig was a large dish despite being considered an appetizer, it was served with a choice of two of their stews (we chose the beef with yellow split peas and the lamb with eggplant). I must say I was extremely excited about trying tahdig since I've seen and read so much about it, and perhaps my expectations were a bit too high because if what we were served is what tahdig should taste like then it's not something I would enjoy eating again. Of course I expected burnt, crispy, hard rice but at least I would have like it to be flavorful, this wasn't. Also the stews were not great. The lentils were hard, almost tasted like they were undercooked, and there was barely any meat in any of the stews we tried including the stew we had as a main dish (beef with green sauce made with a bunch of herbs). This last stew was definitely our favorite but again, there was barely any beef. For dessert we had the marklot which is a combination of Persian ice cream and faloodeh. The ice cream was delicious but the faloodeh I could have done without. I'd never had faloodeh before and when I looked it up and read the description online of what it should taste like (rose water and vermicelli noodles sorbet) I was confused since what we got didn't resemble that at all. For drinks we had the Persian iced tea, which is a bit sweet, and the home made yogurt drink (Persian version of ayran). The yogurt drink is definitely an acquired taste but it's much better than the Turkish version, less sour and less thick. Nonetheless I recommend letting the ice melt a bit before drinking it since it helps thin the yogurt a bit. The restaurant also serves buffet for $25 per person which a lot of people seemed to be taking advantage of, but they really didn't have any of the Persian stews or the tahdig as part of the buffet items so we opted to go a la carte. read more

What we thought we were going to get dinner for cheap, we end up spending $60. And I hardly ate any of my food. The only good thing was the Turkish coffee for me. They didn't let us know that the buffet is $25. If it was communicated, we would've either have gotten a la carte or left. Food was definitely not worth $60. On the pro side, they have a good selection of food. My husband grew up in Dubai so he's eaten middle eastern food, he says it's good, and this place is the best we've got in the area. Came here on a Tuesday night for dinner and had the whole place to ourselves. We ordered the mint mast-o-musir, chicken koobideh and house special kabob koobideh. The food was good for it's price point. Our meal started off with complimentary pita with persian feta, fresh parsley and butter. The pita was warm but slightly stale. The mint mast-o-musir tasted like plain yogurt. My husband really liked the chicken koobideh and said it was juicy and flavorful but the house special kabob koobideh was just a bit on the drier side. Middle eastern food is one of my favorite types of cuisine since it is so friendly towards vegetarians and vegans. The falafel was super crispy and savory. The hummus and baba ghanoush was also very yummy. They have a buffet that is a little pricey but definitely worth it on occasion for the amount of food you get. Went there with my family on Sunday lunch time. Place was fairly busy. Staff is nice. It is buffer style. $16.99 per person is excellent value for the quality of food. The buffet has great options of authentic Persian food including rice 2 types and meats chicken and beef. Great stew options, eggplant options plus hummus. The buffet kept clean plus full and not low in quantities. The quality of food is excellent. The baklava plate at the end of the buffet makes for a great dessert at the end. The decor of the walls nice with a touch of Persian decor such as vases drapes and portraits. Could have bern5 star but lost point for two reasons: first is: The ceiling does need some repairs. Stained ceiling tiles and few visible defects. Can be easily fixed. Second is that automatically added 17% tip! I have never seen tip added automatically for buffet style service. Wow, just tried Mirage Persian Restaurant and it was absolutely phenomenal. At lunchtime they offer a home cooked Persian all you can eat buffet for $13.99. What a deal. The variety of different Kebobs and hot Persian authentic dishes from different stews and humus and babaganoush. If you ask they also have tadig, which is crunchy rice which is absolutely delicious. My server was friendly and very informative. They also have great baklava for dessert. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant. Can't wait to come back with some of my friends read more

Mirage Persian restaurant lunch buffet is a great way sample many different types of cold and hot Middle Eastern style foods. There were different types of soups, stews, and rice that I have never tried before; Dill Rice with Beans, Lamb Stew with Tomato, Herb Beef Stew, and some of the best Baba ghanoush that I have had in a while. If you are one of those folks that too good for buffets, you might want to re-think passing up this fresh assortment of awesomeness for a decent price. I was so happy to see that Mirage has the buffet seven days a week and even on Sunday. The falafel is so fresh and crispy, filled with spices. There are three different grilled meats offered on the buffet: The grilled white meat chicken is folded and skewered to perfection. The ground beef kabobs are good, but the ground chicken kabob is definitely my favorite of all the meats. However, I could go totally vegetarian here and not miss a thing. Since 75% of the lunch buffet is vegetarian, I had a vegetarian friend of mine meet me here for lunch on a Sunday. We were so happy with the relaxed family atmosphere, open dining room with plenty of sunlight. There is also some excellent outdoor seating, when weather permits. It was so nice to see large tables of families relaxing and enjoying their weekend, finishing their lunch with hot tea and mints. Mirage is a stand-along building near US 19 on Gulf to Bay with parking in the back. There are two different types of Dough (yogurt drink offered), house made or bottled. I went for the house-made. But, the yogurt drink mixed with the massive amounts of feta I consumed and the creamy dips, I was having a milk overload. Maybe next time, I will take it easier and be able to order some of the delicious-looking ice cream. My only gripe is that they are a little stingy with their bread. Since my recent goal has been to make every weekend a food adventure, then this was definitely a tasty adventure. Mirage is a recent discovery that will be on my permanent rotation as soon as I have the craving again. On the door, Mirage has a flyer for their Persian Karaoke night and buffet. Stopped in here, on the recommendation of our daughter, yesterday afternoon (February 22nd). After looking at the buffet, each of us (a total of eight) decided to get it and we were not disappointed. The food was terrific and, we could tell, made fresh and "with love". Several of us walked out wondering when we might ever have the room to eat more! (Hint: we didn't eat until breakfast this morning!) And the baklava? It was incredible...just the right amount of honey! I guess the five I had might have been a wee too much but I couldn't help it. I love trying different ethic cuisine and this was so highly rated I really wanted to like it. The sign of the restaurant seems to be accurate: homemade. When we had lunch here it felt like we were eating what an average cook from the Middle East would prepare. My main complaint is that The falafel was far too dry and that the Buffett is so meager it hardly justifies the ~ $15 we paid. All I got was falafel, naan and cucumber salad. That's it! I appreciated that it had vegetarian section and a section with just meat kabobs. I loved the fresh naan bread! That was the highlight of the meal. My poor boyfriend did not care for a single meat item he tasted. I felt guilty for dragging him here. I do like the outdoor patio area since it is covered. A little pricey but for the quality and selection so worth it as a treat. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile now. Don't know why I've been on a Mediterranean/Mid-Eastern food kick lately. Guess I'm a sucker for pita bread and good hummus. So we came here on a Saturday night around 7pm. There's a dinner buffet only on Friday and Saturday nights. We were greeted by the owners and asked if we had reservations. We didn't. Apparently there were a few tables reserved for a large group. We were asked if we wanted to sit near the entrance or towards the back. We decided to sit near the back which may have been a bad idea because we sat for at least 15 minutes before anyone came to our table and that was only after waving someone down. Along the wall there are about two buffet stations. One was a salad bar with hummus, grape leaves, greek salad. The second station had three types of rice, meat dishes such as kabobs and stews. Then on a little end table there was baklava for dessert. The restaurant also has an outdoor seating area with a few tables. Now on to the food. Tip-grab your pita bread ASAP. Those run out very fast. I prefer my pita bread to be hot or warm, but the pita bread here was neither. The hummus was just okay only. The grape leaves was good. The other stuff in the salad bar station was alright. The meat and rice station though was awesome. The rice with raisin was very good. The chicken kabobs were cooked well, but was a little dry. The lamb and beef stew was delish! Had to come back up for seconds just for that! The food stations were constantly replenished so you didn't have to wait too long. Oh and don't forget the baklava. I think it's one of the best baklavas I've ever eaten. Service-Like I mentioned earlier, the service was lacking. Don't know if it was because of where we sat, but it was as if the waitresses had tunnel vision. Even as we were walking out, there were three waitresses at the front entrance and not one of them said goodbye or thank you! The owners were nice though. Note-There's a belly dancer on weekend nights too. I would come back again because the prices were reasonable. The weekend buffet was $19.99 and lunch buffets are $11.99 during the week, $14.99 weekend. read more
